For final, probably Academy Awards since I've studied and memorized almost everything about them just in case I ever get that Jeopardy call. The categories with which I struggle the most are classical music, ballet, and art. I really would need to brush up on fine arts before going on the show. My question for the board: Which Final Jeopardy category would tempt you to bet every penny you had, regardless of the situation because you're positive you'd get it right? In other words, what is your instaget category? Obviously, mine would be Academy Awards. My "bet it all" category would be Classic Rock. I've read so many books, listened to so many albums, and studied so many charts that I'd get most anything thrown at me. "The Waitresses" was an instaget for me recently. I know artists' real names and can cover most anything vaguely under the Classic Rock umbrella (Rockabilly? check. Punk? check. New Wave? check. You get the picture). 10 Link to comment

Bastet February 28, 2018 Share February 28, 2018 (edited) I forgot Paul was even there until the first round was nearly over. How could he not come up with the House of Representatives (something he really should have known) after being prompted to be more specific after saying Congress?! I can’t believe he was even in contention, let alone wound up in second place; what an odd performance that was. The missed DD of Alexandria was rather surprising; for the average contestant, wouldn’t you know it has to be a city in Egypt, and then knowing it has to have an X get you to Alexandria? Maybe it just came too early in the game and Amy's nerves were a factor. Vis-a-vis as a TS was unequivocally surprising to me. Same with ARCO, unless those stations are only regional (just like not knowing Los Angeles in the farmers market clue that followed in that category would be unfathomable to me, but I live here). None of them ever relied on the AAA discount in choosing hotels, to remember the diamonds rather than stars? That was a good chunk of my 20s. Is accepting "Mary Tyler Moore," when the category asked for the show from which the clue show was spin off, legitimate? I know the title card just showed her name, but wasn't the name of the show officially The Mary Tyler Moore Show? Edited February 28, 2018 by Bastet 11 Link to comment

tallykat February 28, 2018 Share February 28, 2018 That was fun. Of course Paul had to have some goofy wave at the beginning. It didn't bother me before, but if it's going to be a "thing" now, I'm not climbing aboard that train. This was my show! French, questions about the moon, and Americana or Landmarks or whatever the official FJ category was. My TS were vis a vis, Alexandria (DD), Arco (a guess), Washington Square (another guess), SF Chronicle (yet another guess), and Apennines, (yup, another guess!). Process of elimination, right? An Italian mountain--what's the Italian mountain range? How many squares are there in NYC? It probably wasn't Times Square. Kicked myself for not knowing Scarlet Witch (Black Widow is not a sorcerer) and Arrow (I know they do "crossover" episodes, but didn't know it was a spinoff). Empire State Building was an instaget. I can't believe they just had the Chrysler Building as a clue yesterday, which solidified my answer. No way was it going to be the Chrysler Building again. Am I the only person who thinks Amy shouldn't have gotten credit for her answer for Manderley? Paul clearly said Man-da-lay, but it sounded like Amy said Man-da-lee. I did not hear the "r". It looked like they stopped taping, so they probably reviewed her answer (which I didn't). Which then begs the question of how much leeway do you give someone who, say, is from Boston or England and might just skip over that "r". Good thing it did not affect the outcome. 4 Link to comment
