A member of the Richland County Sheriffs department has been arrested on Child Pornagraphy charges. Not anybody we “know”. It was the sheriffs department that busted him. Wonder if it will be mentioned this week?

Probably not.  He was never part of the Live PD group nor Cops.  It is all in the news.  Sheriff Lott fired his sorry ass the second he was arrested.  Oh, the SOB drove his patrol car to the site.  Leon Lott doesn't play games.

I have to say I have been most impressed by Richland County. They seem like the most professional group as a whole I think we have seen. I live in South Carolina and have seen some pretty bad sheriff departments in this part of the country lol.

I'm pretty new to Live PD (now addicted).  What's the consensus?  Are some of the cops "putting it on" for the camera?  I sometimes feel that way when they are lecturing/teaching the perp.

In short, yes, I think so.  Many of them seem to love the limelight.  

HOw about the drunk little guy in Texas...blew a .24 and was able to park that truck into the TINY parking space.  I was actually a little impressed by that part (while simultaneously being appalled by the DWI aspect).  

ETA - he seems like a nice guy but Callicoat obviously goes to Sticks' tailor for his shirts.  Geez...tight enough?

I love the Richland County female officer with the very short hair, but it was very odd how she was physically handling the teenage girl in a recent episode. She kept both arms draped over the girl as she talked to her for several minutes, trying to get her name, and their faces were only about 12 inches apart. Why not detain her, or sit her down, or sit her in the car? Very weird.

I noticed that too, and I didn't like it.  Appearances can be deceiving but I'm pretty sure that officer is gay.  Being so close and having her arms on the girl's shoulders was an invasion of personal space.  The officer may have felt that she was establishing some kind of rapport with the girl, being sisterly, or motherly, but it wasn't appropriate.  That officer doesn't usually show such poor judgment.

I can see how that could be taken different ways, but I was hoping the officer was trying her best to get through the young girl to do the sensible thing, try to save the girl from the path she's on and try to keep her from a life of setbacks whether from jail,drugs,alcohol addictions physical abuse,,prison, suicide ,death.  The officer admitted she tried unsuccessfully  for 2 and a half hours to get through to a girl a few days before.

Getting too close, physically, to a young girl -- whether it's a male cop or a female cop -- is just going to make them wary.  It's just way too familiar.

I wonder if cops ever "get through" to any of the kids they encounter.  They don't have the training, or the time.  Plus, kids don't trust cops to begin with, unless the kids are really young and can be scared.  Teens don't scare.

This show has a lot of followers who appreciate these officers and the hard job they do. I'm gonna miss Lt. Grayson Kennedy. He brought a positive aspect to this show and he's got a lot of followers on twitter. Keep doing what you do, Lt. Kennedy.

Upthread I posted that I didn't know how I felt about Williamson County leaving. I know now. Two Williamson County officers (I didn't catch their names) stopped a guy for jaywalking and gave him a hard time. Jaywalking. I usually don't say this, but what a couple of A-holes. 

They stop him on the sidewalk and ask for his ID. They insult his intelligence and imply the guy is a drunkard telling him to go drink his beer. I understand the guy being pissed and feeling the officers were coming on too strong. These 2 officers were out of line!

On the flip side, Lt. Kennedy has always been appropriate IMHO from what I've seen.

See, I saw that completely differently. The first one asked for his ID, but was given a smart answer. All the attitude came from the jaywalker. I believe there may have been beers in his knapsack, which is why he took so much care in digging out his ID.

I'm of 2 minds on the jaywalker and Williamson cops:  they were all assholes!  But I hold law enforcement to a higher behavioral standard.  I do think the cops prolonged the agony and matched the jaywalkers assholery with their own.  Especially when the one cop asked the jaywalker if he understood whatever the "big word" was that he used.  At that point even I was offended on jaywalker's behalf.  It was completely unnecessary and provoking.

I think Kennedy changed his behavior the last few months he was on the show. Might of read here or another site that some people didn't like him.  

I didn't like him at all, then he seemed to get more tolerable towards the end.

The jaywalker was an ornery guy but I really don't think they had the right to see his identification and detain him the way they did.  The guy was trying to explain it was dangerous to cross at the walk and I believed him.  Ornery, but he was right, that officer was an asshole.

The lady with that awful wig in Lafayette was annoying, funny and kind of entertaining. When they first showed her I thought that wig was an animal.

I agree that all 3 were A-holes. 

I had a problem with the officers asking for the guy's ID when the stop was about jaywalking. I would have gotten my ID and laughed about it, but that's not what that guy did. He went too far. They went too far. It was bad all the way around.

I'm intrigued by that traffic stop of the million dollar Tramontana. The two guys said it was being used in a movie and that's the last we saw of it - not even an update which is unusual. I wonder if the movie studio called Live PD and told them to drop it. Also, I wonder if those two guys were supposed to be tooling around town in that very expensive automobile.

And they were smirking, saying they weren't jerks. I thought they were too. So much hassle for jaywalking. I also know that sometimes crosswalks are dangerous. I'm often walking places, and car drivers aren't always paying attention and blow through lights.

This made me actually laugh out loud. Sticks does like his tight shirts. Then there is Dan who liked his sweaters until people started making fun.

I’m a huge fan of Richland County, too. They have an especially tough job but are always professional and really seem to care about improving conditions in the county. Kudos to the officers who conduct their training. I miss Mastrianni and Lawrence but was happy to see they were promoted. I especially loved when Lawrence told a kid he’d drop all his tickets if he made the Dean’s List. That’s positive policing. 

On a lighter note I swear some of the female citizens we see on the show must not own a mirror!  I wouldn’t be caught dead in the outfits they seem to think are perfectly fine to walk around in.

Texas cops are unusually anal when it comes to crosswalks.  My brother was arrested when he was 16 for not using a crosswalk.  15 kids crossed the street, 1 got arrested.   Now granted, he was also an EPIC smart ass as a teenager & was arrested several times because of his mouth more than what he did.  It was a "come pay $50 and take your little asshole home".  never any charges.  this was in Houston in the 80's. 

I've never really liked Kennedy.  There's just something about him.

A couple of months ago Dep. Stone (K9 Partner JR) of Pasco County was shot by a suspect in a domestic call.  Quick thinking of his fellow officers saved his life.  Pasco released the  Body cam footage when he returned to work recently.  Just a warning it's pretty intense.

He did drop the charges against him.  Even though he didn't make the Dean's List, it was really close, so Inv. Lawrence dropped all charges.  ❤️  my RCSD Sheriff and Deputies.

Not sure if I'm in the right place for this question, but . . . Is there a thread for the Live Rescue spinoff?  I saw a few episodes, but my Dish guide isn't showing me any new ones in the next week or so.  Is that still on the air?  Ashleigh Banfield is a bit annoying, but I find I prefer to watch people being helped rather than busted, and I'd miss it if it were gone.

I don't think anyone has started a Live Rescue thread; not sure what the protocol is for that now, or if we could just make this a dual Live Rescue/Live PD thread or something.

 In any case, both shows are on their season change break for 2-3 weeks but will be back later in September.

Live PD came back with new departments, Missoula, MT Sheriff's Office, Tallahassee, FL PD, and Tulsa is back.      Williamson isn't coming back though.

I was upset to learn Ashleigh Banfield would not be coming back as host of live Rescue because I love her. But, after reading about Matt Iseman, I am ok with him. He started his career as a physician so his medical background should be an asset to the show

Watching this makes me wonder about technology.  Is there a device -- an app -- that would allow an officer to scan the bar code on a driver's license or ID and connect to a database showing arrests, warrants, records, etc.? 

As it is, they have to go to their cars and enter the numbers into a computer. 

Would an app like that be dangerous because of hackers?

I believe there are devices that can do that, and some departments do use them.

As always, it comes down to costs. To minimize hacker risks, it wouldn't just be an app the officer puts on their phone, it would have to be a PD-owned/controlled device (a PD Smart phone most likely) so it takes money to approve and get those types of devices spread through a single department, let alone through PD's across the country. 

Just think of how slow it is taking to get CopCameras spread around; a SmartApp license reader would be cheaper but still significant cost. 

Oh and as we saw with Montana last night, there are still significant areas where the cops patrol that do not have cell coverage, or good enough cell coverage. It will work in most of the cities, but rural departments will probably be slower to adapt to such devices because they don't have the coverage needed to make them useful.

I was watching Live Rescue last night and there were two paramedics who responded to an overdose call. The person had already been given narcan when they got there and they said to the officers “can you just pick him up and put him on the stretcher?”  The cops picked him up under the arm pits and knees and carried him over and plopped him on the stretcher. About half way there the one paramedic says”was anyone here when this happened?  Did he fall down?”  I thought maybe you should have asked that and/or checked him for injuries before moving him, but I am no paramedic so what do I know.

So far, I like Montana.  I feel like the guy who handled the woman on the side of the highway (fight with husband and he walked off down the side of the highway), did a good job.  I hope the loss of camera signal won't be an ongoing problem.

I see they are starting yet another new spinoff for Tom - Live PD Wanted. Seems like a Live PD branded America's Most Wanted. With the popularity of Live PD it could get a lot of eyes.

I think with overdoses, the need to get to the hospital right now is more important than anything else.    Where I live they've had newspaper reports of some OD's needing repeated doses of Narcan, and until the person is conscious.

My first thought was Tom will finally get to say more then a few words.

For tonight's episode I really hope they find the dogs that were taken. That's awful. Also, the woman insisting the owners or owner of the shop knows they have sex in customer cars. Yeah, right. Those poor customers not to mention the owner that's going to have to have all those cars washed and cleaned on the inside.

I really wish they would just Taze the ones that start that Sovereign Citizen, or Traveling routine.   Tell them since they're not citizens, then they don't have rights, since they're obviously not from this planet.

I have noticed on different episodes some officers seem to be chewing tobacco. It’s tucked in the side of their cheek. Seems unprofessional. This is allowed while on duty?

That one Corporal in Richland County is a hothead. He was getting mad at that one woman for talking loudly to him and refused to believe her when she said she wasn't or didn't realize it. If she's around a lot of hard of hearing people due to listening to overly loud music, age related and health related talking loudly can become a habit and one won't realize they are doing it until someone tells them. I had that issue when I was younger and in school due to living with someone with hearing issues.

The lady above was let go because the Corporal was notified about a call concerning a fellow officer at that gas station. Once there he got mad at the people in the red car for yelling stuff at him which I could understand. What alarmed me is while he was yelling back telling them what he'd do if he saw their car again and then he went to grab the door handle. Luckily that door was locked so he wasn't able to gain access because if he had I could have easily seen him yanking that person out of the car considering how angry and worked up was.

The drug related people at the motel earlier in the show were they causing trouble and I fully understand that. The perp in that situation said he was stuck in that motel due to financial issues. The cop handcuffing laughed what he said off and told him that he wasn't stuck anywhere as long as he had feet to take him where he wanted to go. It kinda peeved me off because it came across as making light of people who are stuck living like that due to personal issues that go outside of drug use too.

I'm watching Saturday's episode now so I may have more to add. There was stuff I wanted to say about Friday's but I can't remember it now.
