Scare-hole's political diatribe reminded me of a little incident I had with some guy in the veggie department of the local super.

I picked up some produce and saw that the plastic bag dispenser was empty, I walked over to where there WERE some PBs on the roll.

Another shopper got to the dispenser at the same time that I did, so I made some off hand comment about having to work to get a bag.

Nothing about politics.

He looked at me and said something about the candidates and how "we have them by the Conejos".

Huh?

I thought for a second and said, "You mean cojones, Conejos means rabbits."

In espanol, cojones is a slang term for balls/testicles, Conejos are rabbits....

This asshole was SOOOOO gung-ho about HIS politics, he couldn't even think of the right term to use.

Ahhh, the informed public.......

Scare hole?

Ah see, Carole was emulating an old money attitude, they don't necessarily care if things get a bit shabby.

That thing wasn't shabby it was destroyed and apparently given it was draped in fabric samples lining the back she is getting it reupholstered. I don't think Lee would be here for the huge hole and exposed stuffing. Not a gash in sight in sight.

It would me because she doesn't fit his age requirements and doesn't fit other parts of his typical type.

Plus the fact that Sonja is a known liar/exaggerator.

From 09:

Meanwhile, Sonja Tremont also got around. “They see her at the Grammys,” I wrote, “or at the Trump wedding, or the Red Cross Ball in Monaco (seated next to her pal Prince Albert), or at parties at Le Club or at the Irish Derby, or at Larry Gagosian’s in the Hamptons.” Or so I was told.

Being at a table doesn't equal dating also "or so I was told" speaks volumes because her source could in fact be Sonja.

Carole original couch fabric is on sale.  https://www.decoratorsbest.com/p-lee-jofa-silk-tiger-velvet-oro-fabric-9823.aspx  At 30 yards that comes out to just under $40k for the fabric.  Was the damage suppose to be due to the pets or normal wear?

Until she got Baby, it was just normal wear and tear. You can see in some close shots from earlier seasons that there are some places where it's a little threadbare. After Baby and the cat fostering, the upholstery fell apart.

Are we going to have to put up with BF being homeless, again, while she has her new pad remodeled?

Luann don't kiss on the lips.......I wonder what she DOES kiss?

I want to know what kind of cookie jars rest on YOUR counters!

What ever happened to naming dogs cool names like Spot and Stains?

Again, what is the difference between living together and shacking up?

LOL I love it! My mother's best friend was old money and married even older money. It was a source of unspoken pride for her and her husband when certain chairs and sofas became a little worse for the wear and yet still occupied prime square footage in their antebellum home. Frayed toile fabric on the loveseat in the parlor and a full time housekeeper polishing the heirloom family silver in the butlers pantry, all while the full time cook prepared two meals and afternoon tea five days a week LOL  My mom loved to give her a good natured hard time about it since we weren't old money and as such, Mother wasn't 'bound' to observe such strict do's and don'ts.

I hope they are going to break some new ground this season. It looks like they are just repeating the motifs from last year. In fact I was surprised that they directly quoted from the Reunion by showing clips. That seem kind of unusual.

Maybe the new girl will mix it up. But if it is the same crap of beating on Luann about her impending marriage and Sonja doing her Baby Jane imitation then it might be time to wind this one up.

Glad the girls are back.  I think Dorinda and LuAnne look the best and both have had scads of work done but it's good work.  Tom's outdoor space with his condo was impressive.  I too think he and LuAnne have an agreement to an unconventional marriage.  I'm not sure why they even need to get married, a good storyline I guess.

Apparently, Bethenny definitely didn't sell the apartment for enough.  Sonya acted like she couldn't afford a $3 million two bedroom place.  I wonder how heavily her house is mortgaged.

I'm not liking Carole's storyline.  Damn it, I watch this show to escape reality.

Bite your tongue, MerryMary!  How dare you!!!??

Yes

I remember looking at  issues of World of Interiors magazine  back when and seeing lots of frayed/shabby/chipped  furniture in these grand European homes - BTW, I don't think it  occurred in a Grey Gardens way,  I think they left it because it was broken in and comfortable. Probably some eccentricity mixed in there too.

Maybe also some reverse snobism  - I can afford to replace but I don't have to do so to impress.

Now what Carole didn't do was  use an old rug, tapestry, antique bedspread or throw  to cover her sofa in an old $ way

I was surprised that Bethenny and Carol were surprised at "all cash" for B's apartment.  I watch both MDL and all cash is pretty common on both.  I thought that was just how people with $$$$ rolled.

I was also very surprised Frederick got the price of the apartment so wrong!!  It makes me wonder about him as a realtor/broker!!  I will be using Ryan!!

Isn't that his shtick?  He pretends it can never be done, it would be a world wide record!  Then he does it!  I bet the apartment was already sold.

I think producers shoulda ordered Carole to STFU about the election.  This show is not the place for it.  I'm on her side, but I don't wanna hear about it here.  If anything, it's depressing as hell.

I don't know, I think this was what was happening with Carole this season, much like the wedding and Sonja's show, etc.  The fact that she was a journalist, they are in Manhattan where Trump had been acting the fool as long as Ramona has.  Ramona is almost the same age as Trump.  I bet Sonja dated Trump too!  So I think Trump is something that happened and shouldn't be ignored.

Regarding Carole blithering on about the election:

When Harvey Gantt was running for Senator in North Carolina against Jesse Helms.....they went to Michael Jordan and asked him to cut some commercials to endorse the first black candidate for Senator in North Carolina since Reconstruction. Michael Jordan is a hero there as you might know because of his college exploits and he was in the midst of his amazing career in the NBA.

Michael Jordan refused and he gave one of the best explanations about how to handle this issue that I have ever heard:

"Republicans buy sneakers too."

Exactly! They could afford to reupholster but didn't need to do so just to impress others. Mrs. M hosted Bridge, various charity committees, and her husband's colleagues often and none of that influenced them to spend money before they were good and ready.

Now, in our home, there was always a old chenille bedspread or throw on Mother's furniture in the living room and a steamer chest in the adjacent hallway to store them when she was entertaining. Family time was never spent in the living room but rather in the den. Mother always said Daddy worked too hard for us to abuse the spoils.

Carole needs a refresher course, don't you think? ;) I vote for you to lead the class!

I still think she should fire whoever cuts her hair.  It looks like it is thinning.  If that is the haircut, shame on the cutter.  If that is the fact that her hair is thinning then a good cutter can make it look thicker.  So my problem is not the style but the way that layered cut is making her hair look.

I bet these women go to hairstylists that are young and on trend, they probably ask for hairstyles that look great on 25 year olds.  Bringing in pictures of Ariana Grande or someone else 25 - 30 years younger.   How is a hairstylist supposed to tell them?

Did anyone else see the special Bravo did on LuAnn? I found it very interesting. She does come from very humble New England beginnings with a nursing degree.

Being very tall (which B makes fun of call her LuMan) being attractive enough to get some modeling gigs, and somehow getting to Europe. She said she had won a European beauty pageant and traveled from rich persons house to rich persons house and was the Vanna White of a European TV show. She had a steady boyfriend then met and married the Count. Yes, she ho-bagged around Europe but damn, Bethenny give her a little credit for having the guts to leave the country. I would have been to timid and afraid to do what she did.

Bethenny seems to want to remind all of us that LuAnn is from middle class to European aristocracy. LuAnn has NEVER denied her family. She is really proud that she went from A to B and really carved out a life for herself and her children.

Bethenny worked her way onto a ridiculous hit reality show with the dream of a healthy Martha Stewart and ended up rich from hocking liquor. bethenny may have grown up more privileged then Lu, Ramona, Sonya and Jill Zarin. Wasn't Alex McCord from a very wealth American family? My point is LuAnn did her hustle with rich men, Bethenny did her hustle on reality TV

i would like to know more about Ramonas young life before she married MARIO. They truly seem wealthy from the third generation trophy business. Remember MARIO told Avery they did the medals for the US Military? That is probably a huge contract with the government. Avery should just take over the business for her dad. I never really understood Ramonas Marketing business but would like to know more about how they met etc. they had such a fast divorce Ramona must have kept her business ventures and MARIO with his business. They were so rich together they didn't even need to fight over money.

Sonya jet setting past that she always wants to talk about. I thought she was a restaurant hostess that married old man Morgan. But her name dropping Prince Albert? What? She was hustling around Europe also? Prince Albert has illegitimate kids (they have no claim to titles but get child support) and didn't marry until he was in his fifties, I wonder how many of her stories are true.

the NYC women really have lived very jet set lives compared to NeNe who was a stripper, zolziak who was a mistress, Tamra Barney who married a car dealer, Phaedra who slept on the air mattress in the govt housing with Apollo.

Speaking about Carol and her sofa- I've read many articles about Lee Radziwell. Her last husband (the "Prince") was a grifter and died in debt; her son, Anthony, had no money; her sister, Jackie, left her no money in her will. How does this woman sustain herself? Of course, she doesn't buy food because she doesn't eat but does anyone know how she pays her bills for her apartment, decorating, designer clothing, etc?

Does anyone remember plastic on sofas and you had mothers telling you to be careful of even that? Yeah, that's the Midwest vs the East. If I showed a photo of that sofa to my elderly mother, she might stroke, lol. eta Mom wasn't like that though. She just threw her hands up after a while.

Even Carole marrying Jackie Kennedys sister has been around old money. I understand what the posters meant about the old sagging furniture. Even the Queen is said to be very "thrifty" Balmoral Castle in Scotland which is her favorite residence has old rotary phones, a poor heating system, old TVs and sagging furniture. Their pleasure money goes to horses  I believe. She keeps old jeeps and trucks to her around the estate and she's a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it. But I had never heard of the wallpaper in closets. I do think Carole has been introduced to old family wealth. Her mother in laws step dad was one of the owners of Standard Oil. I have no idea about the father in law aka "prince" another European connection Jackie Os sister married into.

but honestly doesn't Carole totally look like a Kennedy or someone a Kennedy would marry? Great body, skinny, with unfortunate face but they don't know they have an unfortunate face?

with the connections her late husband had why on earth does she want to be Carrie Bradshaw? Even last night she said she went from the quint essential single gal to a cat lady. Wasn't that the entire premise for Sex and the City? (Not the cat part) and her on Adams Bike handle bars was such a stupid recreation of sex and the city. Why hasn't Carole found her Mr. Big? Or was her husband Mr. Big? She has also name dropped that she dated George Clooney and Ralph Fiennes. It's too late for me I'm old married and raised my family but how do women position themselves to fall into incredible jobs and meet rich successful men one right after the other? Sonya couldn't have more than a high school diploma, and I don't think Bethenny went to college she said she went to culinary school. She placed herself in NYC to cook for the rich to meet people kinda like Adam?

If Carole's in laws were grifters that is a great question. Anthony died several years ago and Carole doesn't worry about money. Jackie and Lees mom was obsessed with money because their real dad lost all their money. She married the Oil Baron so maybe the two girls inherited some of that. Jackie also had Kennedy and Onassis money.

Dorinda said Richard had a software company that she sold? For two widows they have made their money last plus Dorinda raised a daughter who probably had the best of the best.

I think Bethenny looks down on the women who married money? Especially Luann. I think that's why she has always tolerated Ramona because Ramona has hustle.

none of the NYC women were strippers. I'm sick of the whole stripper craz, Blac Chyna, Amber Rose, Kardashian sex tape or athlete marriage. The NYC women married businessmen and old money. But a ho is a ho is a ho.

Coming from a city where the housing market is so ridiculous that I've seen homes sometimes go up for double of the asking price, I was amazed that in NYC, she didn't get even more than the asking price she was going for. But then again, offering cash may have been a huge incentive to not wait and see if she could get more.

Poor Carole was clearly sick when filming those THs.

Bethenny hit the nail on the end about Sonja being stuck in the past. But I gotta say I'm surprised she's finally leaving the house behind. Whether finances played a part or not, it makes economical sense to sell and downsize.

Oh boy, I'm a tiny bit scared to see the potential meltdowns that will happen when we see the reactions and/or aftermath of the elections.

Well, regardless of what anyone thinks of Luann, she doesn't hustle backwards.  That townhouse is worth the price of admission. While Tom's out smashing other women, I hope she added her name to the lease/deed/whatever rich people apartment paperwork.

I don't worry about Lu, though, she'll always land on her feet. Even when she was single, she was smart with her cash, didn't blow her settlement, and lived within her means. If things go south with Tom, she'll be fine. Embarrassed and hurt, sure, as any one would be, but she'll bounce back.

The election talk is still too soon for me. Watching it unfold is cruel dramatic irony.

Ramona needs to stop. I wrote last year that she is that bitch who sings Congratulations by Vesta at your wedding. I stand by that.

Dress for Success or not, those shoes and clothes looked too old/worn out to be donated. Those Gucci loafers looked like house slippers. Judging by what was shown, I doubt Bethenny got anything useful out of that pile.

Anthony's father Prince Radziwill died owing millions of dollars.  His mother was treated kindly by her sister Jackie Kennedy Onassis  and was specifically disinherited due to the help she had provided Lee over the years.  Carole's husband received $500,000.00 from his aunt's estate.  Lee, his mother had remarried and later divorced (thirteen year marriage) Herbert Ross.

Carole said something very funny one time when she was asked about being worth $50 million dollars-I don't think I am worth 50 million pesos.  There is a reason Carole took this job-she needs it.

They were married for 13 years, not three.

I found it interesting that Carole didn't feel the need to talk about the election with Dorinda given Dorinda's connections to HRC perhaps Carole felt that Dorinda might actual know as much about or God forbid more about the election than her so she couldn't pontificate.

At first I thought Sonja meant the Prince Albert who was married to Queen Victoria.  Wasn't Sonja still married in 09?  How could she date Prince Albert if she was married?  Maybe that is part of why old man Morgan divorced her.

I was thinking back in the day, ie. maybe late 80's/early 90's. Albert was a renowned playboy before marriage (and I've not paid attention to the Monacan royals since). Sonya probably attended a party with him once.

It may be legit, but given Bethany's reaction, she'd like for Carole to give it a rest too!  Apparently she drove her friends crazy with her 24/7 commentary, or so it seems.   However, the upcoming meltdown after the election might be worth the price of a ticket. ;)   Seriously,  I hope the show can veer away from that and LuAnn's marriage storyline.  That's gotten old too, IMO.

I did crack up at Bethenney's reaction and speaking to Carole's dog. Muttering and wondering if she could fit into the bottom cupboard to get way from Carole. She really tried to get Carole to shut up. I would have suggested feeding her, but I'm glad I didn't have to watch her chewing cud

I'm no fan of Carole, but maybe I'm softening a bit.  She does admit that her relationship is what it is for today--not a fairy tale romance but it fills a need for now.  I dated a younger guy for a short bit and although he played drums on the dashboard of my car, he brought me coffee in bed so I dealt with it as long as possible.

As for her plastic surgery --I'm a woman in my 60's now and I'm considering a little "updating'.  It's between a rock and a hard  place because the signs of cosmetic surgery does--in it's own way--betray one's aging.  I spent much of this episode pausing and staring at their faces trying to see exactly what I was seeing.  I enjoyed looking at Dorinda's face for its (I'm supposing) authenticity.  A real face is so rare now. it's actually fascinating.

I don't think Carole's surgery is about keeping Adam.  Some people age with a beauty.  I'm not in that category and either is Carole. There is 'ugly old' and I'd like to not deal with that.  Even if people can tell I've had some work they're not going to see my 'Dorian Gray' side, so I'm  okay with it.  The sun sets regardless.

I don't think Carole's had anything done to her face. Whenever a woman is over a certain age, people start grinning and winking about all the surgery she's supposedly had done. If she looks too good -- surgery; if she looks too bad -- surgery.  Hell, I remember when Bethenny was pregnant and some asshat called into WWHL and made some idiotic remark alluding to what he believed to be Bethenny's secret face job when, in fact, her face was just altered from pregnancy and went right back to normal after delivery.  Take a look at this bit of lunacy:  http://latestplasticsurgery.com/carole-radziwill-plastic-surgery-before-and-after-photos/  They show a photo of Carole as a teen, side by side with a photo of her in her 50s, and claim she's had plastic surgery because the photos don't look identical.  For one thing, the photos do, in fact, look pretty much identical.  For another, everyone's face changes when they age (and if you're middle aged and still have the face you had as a teenager, call HSN and start selling that shit.)  It's just all so silly.  I think Carole looks exactly as she always has.

She may not have had plastic surgery, but her face is barely movable these days and clearly filled with injectibles.  She doesn't look like this same person she did when the show started.

I do love her hair and I think she looks great but she needs to ease up on the injectibles because it is giving her face the Mama Elsa look.
