Because of the jaw surgery. Apparently he was one of the unlucky people whose jaw structure gives them a really messed up bite, which can not only cause pain but various serious problems down the line, like digestive issues, sleep apnea, and so on. And once they've moved your jaw then the teeth need a new alignment too, I guess.

No jaw surgery for me, but I did have braces and orthodontist work in late teens and early 20's. Bad jaw structure can reek problems. I did read on the internet hypothyroidism can cause sleep apnea and possible joint and jaw problems.  I often wonder if Derick or Jill had they thyroid hormone levels tested because once your thyroid levels go out of whack and not diagnosed or treated, your overall health can be seriously affected. I also bet dollars to donuts none of the Duggar girls had their thyroid hormone levels tested during pregnancy either. He probably has not been tested for sleep apnea either since a lot of his health problems could be related to sleep apnea. I know when I went to the dentist in August I was told a lot of my health issues were related to sleep apnea. The joys of having an autoimmune thyroid disorder. I should have just prayed my little heathen heart out and read the bible.

Jill doesn't look clingy to me, but it could be just because she looking into the camera smiling instead of looking into his face adoringly.

Derick's teeth are getting closer to where they should be. The realignment seems to have improved his 'lazy' eye as well.

I don't think Jill is expecting again so soon. It's been about 3 months since Sam's birth. I think she's still swollen in the abdomen. Her shape will change with each subsequent child there. She's also nursing, so hence the larger bust...they'll stay that way unless she's had that secret hysterectomy we're all wondering about. I hope she's still not nursing Izzy....JMHO on that one.

From what I remember about orthodontics, GOOD, effective orthodontics shifts the teeth in to place ONCE and they stay there. Derick has had there braces on for more than 2 years and his teeth have been shifting all over. Anyone know why?

It can take a few years after oral and maxillofacial surgery (plus braces) for everything to align as originally hoped. I assume since Derrick still has his braces that work is being done. His entire process looks very painful.
