I think that’s likely, given the nature of the charges, and the fact that he has multiple planes at his disposal should he want to flee the country.

Some Sun stuff

Mandatory detention for Duggar

According to the Sun reporter present when the verdict was given, Judge Brooks said of Josh Duggar's detention, “Mr Duggar 100 percent has been compliant awaiting trial."

"I appreciate that and I wanted to acknowledge that."

"However because of the guilty offenses, he must be detained regardless of flight risk so there will be a mandatory detention."

"The marshalls will set that up.”

Sentencing time

The judge said on Thursday morning that sentencing for Josh Duggar may take about four months.

Now I want the Sun to do their gossipy stuff and report on everyone's reactions to the verdict.

I hope Josh turned deathly pale and about passed out at the fact he is finally facing consequences for the FIRST TIME in his LIFE.

From the Sun:

Josh Duggar's reaction

Josh Duggar was "teary-eyed but not crying" when the verdict was given, according to the Sun reporter, who noted he was "solemn."

Duggar was cuffed immediately.

Oh happy day! Those jurors did the Lord Daniel’s work.

(I almost screamed in my meeting.  It would have been noticeable).

Thank god!  It is my Xmas party today and I don't know how I would have kept checking without getting noticed!  I think I am getting a drink at lunch!

So here's the sticking point.  Normally this gets you a 10 year sentence. I've never had a case get consecutive sentences, they always run concurrent.  However, the judge seems to dislike Josh and his attorneys.  He seems to understand the harm he's done.  Will he take time to write out a justification for going outside the standard sentence?  We know his average sentence for this is around 8 years, give or take.  Will the abuse of his sisters and danger he presents yield a consecutive sentence?  8 years followed by 8 years? Or will he throw every enhancer at him? Could we see a 20 year sentence for possession/receipt?  I doubt it, but this Judge is pretty fly.

Didn't the judge see those pictures of child pornography?  Nuff said!

How he gets sentenced, the discretionary part anyway, will in some part depend on all the pre-sentencing mandatory mental health evaluations

so if it will take 4 month until sentenced and turns out josh abused his children will this influence the judges  sentencing??

If they find evidence wouldn't he be tried again on separate charges? She asked hopefully.

I want to thank all of you for the support through this.  I would mention it to friends and they all look at me like "who? Josh who?"  It's good to know that others are as concerned as I am.

Same here, I mentioned this to my husband and he didn't know who I was talking about and was barely aware of the existence of the original show.

They're asking the prosecutors what they thought of the defense hitting the remote access so hard in the live stream, and they basically said "no reasonable person looks at that evidence and concludes that, but that's all they had, so they did a good job trying."

So glad I get to see and hear the prosecutors. Really glad they did the press conference.

This judge has seen those a lot of times before, though. So....gotta be something more that would cause him to go beyond the sentences he's generally been handing out, I think.

Not trying to be too graphic, but the sentencing enhancements for CSAM factor in a couple of things about the material he had. I think it's quite possible Josh does get a longer sentence.
