Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

The Duggars post about politics on social media frequently, but these social media posts are not an invitation to discuss politics here in this forum. This rule extends to Duggar adjacent families, friends, associates etc. Such discussions are a violation of the Politics Policy.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss certain social media postings of those in the Duggar realm as they relate to politics- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

I actually don't think Josh and Anna were cheated either. I forget where I read it, but I did read that for at least awhile the bride's dowery provides the living accommodations and the groom brings the professions. If Anna's family paid the rent on Grandma Duggar's house for a period of time, that was in keeping with their means and tradition.

But I don't think it was up to JB and Michelle to provide a living AND a nice home for any of their children. It's nice, honestly, if they do one or the other.

But either way, they guessed wrong with Josh and Anna. Josh was never happy with the car lot. You could see the whole time how miserable he was there. It was so passive aggressive - in retrospect he almost did everything he could to make it fail.

I'm old and did the formal invitations but really like the photo post cards and/or e-vites people are doing. I also like people using names and phases they use in normal life to personalize them. Frankly formal invitations are dated and I love a Save The Date type of post card to start the theme/event and followed by an e-vite to keep everyone organized. I'm looking forward to Jessa's ill-advised wedding to see how it differs from Jill's.

I didn't say "I do" at the alter because when asked to be married I said "you bet jah" so said that instead. Freaked the minister out because he wasn't sure it was legal. It was personal to us so if Jim Bob wants to be JB or Jim Bob or whatever its up to him and Michelle to put what they like on the invite since its coming from them.

I've seen pictures of the wedding and of course commercials but I'm not sure why you think the wedding was a hot mess? It didn't look fancy but I've been to a lot of weddings that didn't cost more than a car and there was nothing wrong with them.

I don't think a wedding has to be expensive to be nice, but I thought Jill's was just tacky. From the cheap bridesmaids dresses to the clunky, mismatched shoes to the lack of halfway decent appetizers to the melting, lopsided wedding cake. The whole thing just looked really low rent.

I am very weirded out by the whole "taking a break from wedding planning" for the bus tour thing. The election date wasn't just set recently. Surely they knew that there was an election taking place a few days after the wedding. If they wanted to devote themselves to the campaign trail, why not schedule the wedding for Nov 8?

No photos have been leaked of them decorating their new home. There were a few pictures of a shower on Pickles and Hairspray, but that's it. Maybe TLC wants to do a better job of keeping a blackout on this relationship so that they can have a full season of "All About Jessa!"

Because Jessa's done ovulating then

I am really wondering where they will live. At first, I strongly believed they would take Josh and Anna's house, but now I'm not so sure. People in the area haven't seen much movement going on, in or out of grandma's old property. Despite it being updated for Josh and Anna, I would think Jessa would want to put her own touches on it. The registry also seems to suggest their home will have at least two bathrooms and three bedrooms. I wonder if they will move back of Seewald-ville? I don't think Ben has a career without latching onto Jim Bob or his dad. That's the most bizarre aspect of their relationship: Bin does not seem to have a steady income in the same way Derick or Josh have.

I sincerely hope that TLC uses the now vacated time slot of Honey Boo Boo to air Jessa's courtship and wedding.

I think they are holding that timeslot for Kate + 8. ugh.

I certainly hope Blessa and Bin Bulb get their own season. Not that I like any of these yahoos. My mind was wandering at work and it dawned on me how Jilly Muffin has overshadowed Jessa's entire engagement and her wedding is airing on national television 4 days before her real ceremony. It just seems a little distasteful.

The preview for next week's engagement epi just reminded me of how ill-suited Bin and Jessa are for one another. Bin plans this extravagant scavenger hunt to propose, and IMO, Jessa is the type of girl who would hate that sort of thing. To me, she seems like the type who would want a simple, straightforward proposal without a lot of fuss.

My son asked his prom date out with a scavenger hunt. That this was a romantic engagement just feels all wrong to me. It's as if they never got to be ordinary kids. (Which they didn't.)

And it looks like they're at Thorncrown Chapel. I'm very jealous. But, I wouldn't want Ben.

Promos for the movie Dumb and Dumber To have been playing here. I keep looking for Ben in the background because, yeah.

I need for Jessa to get him some Mucinex or Kleenex or maybe just a stick with a rag on the end of it, because all of that stuffy nosed 4yr old talk just makes him sound even dimmer.

I sincerely hope that TLC uses the now vacated time slot of Honey Boo Boo to air Jessa's courtship and wedding. This will enable them to catch up to real time and begin a proper season early next year...I, for one am tired of watching old news...yes, I agree that Jessa Blessa will be "expecting" next week. Maybe she wants to out do sweet sister Jilly Muffin...(who, by the way, needs to leave and cleave), put on her big girl panties, and live her own life in her own home away from her "buddies". She doesn 't need to see the daily...Doesn't MIchelle realize or care that they have NOT bonded with her at all? Jim Bob already set the standard for his marrying up kids when Josh married...he clearly dissed Josh and Anna with his silver platter treatment given to Jill...he needs to do something equal for Josh, it's never too late and continue the bar with the remaining 16. It's the results of his own actions hatching all those kids years ago. Plain and simple.

I'm sure Jill was frightened out of her skin after Derick left for work the first time, as she has never been alone, EVER, not for one moment. Her parents should think about that and what negative affect it has on their now adult children.... get real folks.

I just read a blind item that someone from a past reality show(s) is actively trying to fill that empty spot with herself in a new line up. The majority of guesses are saying its Kate Gosselin.

Bin Bulb gave me the creeps last night worse then any other time since he said he was jealous of Jessa walking down the isle with someone besides him. He is such a caveman and from now on I might just have to call him CavemanBinBulb.

You know, I really do think Jessa is desperate for some privacy in a world that gives her none.  She's willing to marry for it.  I think she wants that even more than sex.

And he also said something like it was okay when Jessa walked into church with another guy but she

wasn't going to walk out of church with anyone else but him.  Geez Bin, she wasn't the one getting married at that time.

Bin was really just doing too much at that point. It's very common for bridal party members to be paired up with someone who isn't their significant other. Everyone I know, including myself, has been in that situation. Why Bin made such a big deal about it, I don't understand. The ceremony was what, twenty minutes? It's not like Jessa was handcuffed to this guy for the entire day. The whole thing just gave off a scary, potential wife beater vibe that made me uneasy.

ITA you hit the nail on the head. His father gives me the exact same vibe. I doubt his wife ever says a word against him otherwise it would be a quick whack across the face to show her who her leader is and she can never go against anything he says. Michael's daughters had that dead look in their eyes as though they are afraid of their lives in that house.

Sadly if Bin turns on Jessa she knows how to handle a gun. I know it's bad to say but she can have that over him.

Does anyone think that Ben was told to go up and escort Jessa out of the church for show to create another "talked about" moment.

It was mentioned that Jill planned it out on the other thread, but I'm not so sure. If it was, okay fine, it was stupid and cheesy but it was Princess Jill's day, so her lame requests had to be fulfilled. What creeped me the hell out was the way Bin talked about it and how possessive and controlling he was. Josh kind of made a big joke out of the whole thing, but Bin literally looked like he was about to fight that groomsman when he yanked Jessa away in the aisle.

Fuzzysox, totally agree with your post. I know I shouldn't judge a kid I don't even know, but I've had friends in abusive relationships and Bin gives me the same bad vibes their boyfriends did.

My BFF from high school married a possessive guy like that. I couldn't stand him. He tried to kill her before the wedding and she still married him. I had to walk away from our friendship because if she was going out with me he had to tag along. Creeper. I'm currently looking for her since I was doing some research and it looks like she finally divorced his scary ass.

IDK if Jessa can put up with that for long or if he does abuse her if she would tell her daddy. Boob wouldn't let or stand for that so  I sure hope that Jessa is going through with the wedding because Bin is truly a good person. We just have to sit back and watch.

I think it was totally set up. I think Josh is able to carry a joke off better than Ben is. I don't know that he does not have a sense of humor - he shows some at times when he's on his own, but you can really tell that he's uncomfortable with the cameras.

I don't get an abuser vibe. I get someone who is trying too hard and doesn't want to mess up and embarrass himself in front of a girl he likes.

My DVR picked up an older episode where Jessa and Jinger volunteered for a local coffee shop to raise money for the orphans in Guatamala. Jessa actually seemed to enjoy herself that day, she is outgoing and I can't see her sitting around the house all day while Ben is either at school or at work. Granted, Jessa is probably now too famous to work as a coffee barista. It would be nice to see her do some kind of work, though..she seems to like to interact with people.

I wouldn't worry about how Jessa and Ben will manage financially. I'm sure TLC will now be giving them their own paycheck, plus the episodes that have already aired must have included some type of paycheck for Ben, since he isn't part of the Duggar Family trust (yet).

I've love to know if Jessa had really thought for one minute to go ahead and elope with Ben, discussed that possibility with Jim Bob, who managed to cut a deal with TLC to get another season of her courtship/engagement/wedding and give Jessa a nice share of the profits. She seems like one of the kids who was most likely to rebel, in her own way. Even if Jim Bob didn't approve of Ben 100%, it seems like Jessa was dead set on marrying him anyway.

I think you're right. I'm so curious what she'd be like if she really had the chance to be on her own completely.

It might have something to do with the fact that she probably got more "alone" time with that guy than she's ever been allowed with Ben? Or more physical contact?  I mean granted not by much, but even though Ben's courting her he has to have a chaperone at all times, can't even hold her hand, can barely side-hug her, and yet here she was (possibly <gasp> unchaperoned for a few moments) with this other guy, arm in arm, The guy might've even felt the side of her boob!

Oh yes, Krazy Kate is Koming back with her 8.

I saw some article where she got major remodeling on the mansion curtesy of TLC then held a yard sale at a church and Jon showed up.  Ho ho ho.

I see Jessa as being as controlling as Kate but I can't see Bin shutting his mouth while doing all the work like Jon seemed to do.  I really do see Bin as the type to smack anybody giving him disrespect like that, assuming he grows a brain and realizes how disrespected he is.  Something is really off with him.  Not my problem, thankfully, Jessa's problem.

Only two days until the unfortunate event. I keep hoping we hear that the wedding has been canceled, it just all feels so very wrong. Ben is so incredibly dumb, Jessa is so uncaring, they are both far too immature. Jessa is a complete brat, but she was the one that I felt would defy her family and run, her chances of getting away grow slimmer each day.

She is a brat but she made me laugh. In the talking head Jinger says she did get a melted root beer float on the way out. Jessa waits a beat and quips, I don't like root beer. Her timing was pretty funny AND bratty too.

Other than some of her ideas (that I personally disagree with), Jessa seems a lot more on the ball, so to speak, than Ben.  I've always said that I give them 3 years before Jessa really feels like she's made a huge mistake, and the cracks begin to show.  It will be once the honeymoon phase is done and the kids start coming in.  Jessa finds Ben attractive, and in the real world most of us have figured out that looks can only go so far.  You have to really have a connection with a person.  Once she sees past those looks and sees how really dimwitted Ben is she's in for a rude awakening.

It's so frustrating to hear Ben speak that I find myself wanting to prod him on.  "Come on...you're almost there...you can do it!" And then when he finally gets his thought out...wow.  Nothing.

I hope Jessa just has a small wedding in the backyard with close friends and family.  Nothing wrong with that.  Then have a nice little barbecue (I'm from Texas), and a lovely cake and some flowers.  No fuss, no muss. November offers great opportunities for fall leaves and gourds decorations.  Lanterns and lights strung from trees could be cute.  Why does it have to be for a thousand people?

Bin is being skooled at the homeskookingfooling table by MEchelle no wonder the kid can't get a word out.....he is modeling like the other littles.

I'm tellin' ya! He and Jackson are two peas in a pod!

IKR! I kept thinking that Derick must've been grateful he was wearing that jacket.  Once he and Jill were able to seal the deal with a kiss I'm sure all kinds of emotions were, er, coming up.

I don't see Ben as abuser either. I saw that as cultural.  He seems to come from the same conservative cloth as the Duggar kids and of course he's following courtship rules. When your courtship lady (girlfriend?) and you are not allowed to do more than side hug or whatever and stand next to each other. Then seeing another gent stand next to her is as blatant as seeing them kiss or more or whatnot. (Especially considering they weren't engaged and the wedding therefore not allowed to hold hands)

Also if Jessa wasn't courting, she seems like the most likely to flirt with Derrick's friends. Too bad she was in a courtship already.

Not to pick on the poor girl endlessly, but why can't someone get Jessa to a dermatologist? As soon as I started breaking out, my parents started taking me for treatment; as they said, "We have insurance and you don't HAVE to suffer through bad skin, so why not?" As the Duggars are so uber-focused on "countenance," I'm surprised they don't see acne as a detriment.

Remember in Carrie when her crazy mother tells her that pimples are the lord's way of chastising her. Maybe they actually believe skin problems are the result of bad thoughts that she's being punished for. If that's the case, there's no way they'd get her help.

I know someone on another thread mentioned food allergies as a possible cause of Jessa's acne, but I'm wondering if maybe she could also be allergic to something in one of the skin care products she uses. Things like parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and dyes can wreak havoc on sensitive skin. Jessa might want to try using natural oils for cleansing and moisturizing.
