It's Tony Hale from Veep and Buster Bluth in Arrested Development.  If Buster Bluth was heckling me about the state of my phone or home internet, I would be making quips about his metals from Army and the Mother-Boy pageant maybe even bring up Lucille 2.

Never watched those shows so I have no idea who that is.  But he's really annoying in those commercials.

I don't if they annoy me so much as squick me out, but any of those commercials for wet AMD treatments which involve eye injections.  I liked the Dancing in the Moonlight one until I saw the small print about the injections.  I mean, I guess if it'll save your vision, but still, needles in eyes!

In the newest of nether region deodorant commercials, I keep seeing this one with two young women in an elevator giving each other various "smell tests" but thank gawd they hesitate at sniffing each other's crotches! 😲

Hokey smokes! I didn't realize that's who that was! No wonder he looked familiar!

The Botox ads are plain stupid. Getting Botox because you want to look younger on a webcam feed?
Webcams are notoriously unflattering! the best looking-person is going to look like a toad in an online feed. They praise how "subtle" the results are, and a webcast is not going to pick up anything subtle. They outright lie.

It's only as subtle as you allow it to be. I have seen so many women with Botox and too many of them shoot for the moon with it. I mean faces that are unnaturally smooth & firm and it gets this greasy look that is not attractive.

No, Botox I'm not believing it. And not getting it either.

Maybe you meant boor?   Although I much prefer the imagery of her shoving people out of the way like a boar

LOL...I know this is a really old post, but I'm just scrolling through this thread since I got caught up on the only other show I follow these days.

I was going nuts for a while right after I read the OP, because I knew boar did not exactly seem right, and bore was definitely not right, but for some reason, it took me a good few minutes to come up with the spelling that made sense in context.

Between the advertisements for Botox, other fillers, and all the whole body deodorants, I feel like the pendulum has shifted back to companies and Madison Ave. wanting women to hate our bodies again.  It's disheartening especially in a time where so many images and videos are filtered to hell and back so we don't know what a person is supposed to look like anymore.

The woman with the obnoxious voice and the Dutch Boy haircut for Target gets on my last nerve. That voice?

Does it seem like every commercial is produced by the exact same Ad Agency?  Why do so many commercials have groups of bozos who dance around like they have fire ants up their butts?  It doesn’t seem to matter what they’re trying to sell, they just bop around like crazed lunatics.

I believe she was a SNL character.

The legand Kristen Wiig!! I love her she can do no wrong. I worked at Target for a Christmas season and I was a little like her. I talked to the customers, the ones I felt would welcome it. I didn't make any comments on embarrassing purchases though, like adult diapers. Just innocent things.

Oh, she can do wrong.  This commercial is the proof.  I cannot stand it.  I honestly want to punch her every time I see it.

Also all the ads with the voice-over guy who pronounces .com as .calm.

All Balance of Nature ads are annoying, but there's a new one with this nice older lady who apparently told her son "if something happens to me, MAKE SURE you keep ordering my Balance of Nature! It's more important than anything else!"

Given that the lady will presumably be unable to order it for herself in this future condition, I have this image of her son shoveling the pills into his mom's comatose mouth.

If I am incapacitated to the point that I cannot online order my vitamins, then I would take that as a sign I no longer need them.

I thought she might say, "If anything happens to me, Balance of Nature did it."

How is the Allegra headphone girl commercial still on the air?  Is she Mr. Allegra's daughter?   In the last moments of the commercial, the closer she gets to the camera, it seems like her eyes might cross.

Two that bug the crap out of me that I have not seen discussed here much recently:

The Blue dog food commercials with the incredibly judgy b*&ch trying to guilt another woman into spending more money on her dry dog food.

The skin care ones where the miniature doctor's torso pops out of the bathroom counter. One: kill that abomination where it stands. Just drop an encyclopedia on it or something. Two: maybe clean your counter more if torsos pop out of it and start talking.
(Niche comment: I'm a D&D player so when that torso pops out I also think "roll initiative.")

I have never had a dog (cat person here). Is it really that much of a big deal for one dry food over another? The wet/fresh dog food I get, sort of. I've always depended on my vet to give me advice on food for my cats (indoor).

I always laugh at the line at the bottom of the screen, something like "both brands provide balanced and complete nutrition".  So why should I spend more?

The commercial I don't get right now is for Mattress Firm.  It shows people doing obnoxious things like putting their bare feet on the seat of the passenger in front of them on a plane.  The flight attendant asks them how they sleep at night, the reply is "I got my mattress at Mattress Firm so I sleep" then the song "all night long" starts playing.  So, if you buy your mattress at Mattress Firm, you either are or will become a terrible person?

Finally. A Trojan condom commercial today. If I see one more Viagra or the like commercial I'm going to loose my mind

The Viagra ad where you are invited to order 50 pills always makes me think that guy is very ambitious.

Now that's what I get for spending more time listening to the tv rather than watching. I miss sight gags and small print. That answers my question. So, it's not that big a deal.

I always assumed the character was intended to be annoying.

Which makes sense on SNL but not in a commercial intended to promote your store.

I hate those.  They imply that their pet food is healthier than that sold by companies like Purina but it isn't.

No, as long as it's made by a reputable company, it's fine.  Same actually goes for the wet food.

You should spend more so that they make more money.  That's the only reason.

I’m not arguing in the commercial’s or the character’s favor, just making an observation that it’s annoying because it’s supposed to be. That said, though, it’s not likely annoying to everyone.

And my point was that using a character who is supposed to be annoying in a commercial is not a good way to sell a product because the character is going to turn off a significant number of consumers.  But since this thread is for commercials we find annoying, I'll say it again: that commercial is annoying as hell, and not in a funny way, and it actively makes me glad that Target isn't my only shopping option.

And ftr, I've almost never found Kristen Wiig funny, so this commercial is no exception.

What I find most ridiculous about this commercial is that the list of ingredients they rattle off for both options sound almost the same to me. I can never tell what’s supposed to be so bad about the cheaper option ingredients.

Many dogs are sensitive to corn which is a common ingredient in the "less expensive" brands.  I don't remember if that's featured in this commercial.  Finding a dry dog food that's completely without corn is difficult.

According to the Blue Life web site (this is for the food shown in the ad):

Quote

Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe

Formulated for the health and well-being of dogs, BLUE Life Protection Formula Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe is made with the finest natural ingredients enhanced with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Starting with delicious, high-quality deboned chicken, it features antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies and wholesome whole grains.

Looking at the ingredients on their web site, it doesn't contain any corn.

I don’t know — I tend to want to give my pets better than fine. There’s a lot of questionable shit in mainstream pet foods, especially dry stuff. (Somewhat related, certain cat litters are bad for them. And maybe us too, I forget.)

I feed my pets healthy food designed to meet their nutritional needs.  I don't waste money on things like Blue Buffalo no matter how much their commercials try to guilt me into thinking their food is better when it is not.  And that's why those commercials piss me off, because they play on guilt to make money.

A particular animal's sensitivities are a perfectly good reason to see out specific foods but that's not what those commercials are about.

OK? I don't feed my cats dry food or cheap wet food.* We may (or may not) agree (or disagree) on some mass-market pet foods' nutritional value. I can live with that.

*I used to pre-internet and pre-grownup paycheck, so I don't judge.

I'm not talking about other people's choices when it comes to pet food.  People can buy whatever they want.

I'm talking about the commercials for stuff like Blue Buffalo, which imply their food is healthier even while they are required to run a disclaimer stating that the competitor's food also supplies a balanced nutritional diet.  It's the implication that somehow those of us who feed our pets other brands are bad pet owners which pisses me off.
