Isn't the current IBLP almost the same as the old one?  I think Gothard is still involved but in a secret mode.

Yes. And her siblings at home are still following Gothard’s edicts, at least the skirts only and homeschooling nonsense.

I don't think Gothard is involved. He showed up at Family Camp a few years ago and had a police escort off the property.

GMA just had a short clip so hope the entire interview will have more about Gothard and IBLP.  There is a short clip added to her stories and Jeremy was with  her at the interview.  They seem to be in NYC staying with his grandparents. I wonder if she is doing more interviews for the book launch?

I didn't watch the interview, but on Reddit, they say she call out Gothard but not (curennt) IBLP.

I think it's implied when she says she rejects the teachings.

The book launches tomorrow, so this is definitely part of the hype machine. She's with a major publishing house this time around.

He's not but although the board is the same as it was when they booted him off which they only did after he became a liability Gil and Erin's father-in-law were on the board covering up for Gothard and are still on it. Everything's still the same except without Gothard.

Oh I don't dispute that it's the same, just with a different figurehead. Although they let women wear pants at Family Camp now. That's a change from the Gothard days. But in the scheme of things, it's really nothing.

Seeing as I don't think we'll see any of the Lost Girls, unmarried, pregnant, riding a Harley while smoking a joint, I think this is as good as it gets for now.

But... sometimes it only takes one to speak up and others will soon follow. 🤞🏽

If Jinger was quoted accurately, that statement about not having as many kids as you can would be the one that would upset her parents the most. Their brand was their legalistic religious beliefs, but what catapulted them into reality TV stardom was the irresponsible breeding. JB hasn’t shied away from his desire to have 200+ grandchildren. Nevermind if the grandchildren are wanted, fed/clothed properly, given enough time, or even loved.

The banana curls seem to be a thing of the past. I wish the stupid wisdom booklets were too. That stuff was all Gothard's personal preferences re girls and not the least bit "Biblical". What a load of cr*p! The world would be a better place for women if all of that bs thinking would disappear. JB & Meech were fools to fall for that nonsense.

Regardless, with or without him it’s still essentially the same belief system.

I am once again impressed by the marketing campaign for this book.  And I have to admit I am shocked that Jinger would go so far as to say that you shouldn't have a million kids just because you can.  It's going to be hard for her parents to spin that as anything other than a criticism of their choices.  I wonder how her siblings like Joe, Jed!, and Joy are reacting to someone saying that having baby after baby is a bad idea.  I hope she and Jer stick to that and either stop with the two they have or have only one or two more.

Gothard may have added in some of his fetishes, but really he was just trying to set the clock back to when women didn't have any rights. Just like there is systemic racism and there's systemic misogyny. Unfortunately Gothard found a very succinct way to move an already existing agenda forward.

When I think harder about it, it seems like the Duggar girls still living at home are still being forced to adhere to many IBLP standards but the boys/young men are not.

Has Jinger even once asked her parents why they chose to follow an unmarried bachelor’s rules about marriage and child rearing? That’s something people want to know.

Probably for the same reason some viewers thought the Duggars were quaint. It was being sold as an easier, simpler, safer way to follow one's faith and raise God fearing kids.

And... some obstetricians are men, men design woman's clothing, not all pediatricians have kids, Priests aren't married or have kids...

The trend for greater misogyny appears to be growing.  That's why I'm thrilled my state has just passed into law the provision that abortions are legal anytime during the pregnancy, and MN will not cooperate with states seeking to prosecute women who come here from other states.  It also eliminates previous requirements for a 24 hour wait period as well as getting the consent of both parents of a minor, etc.  Abortion was already legal in our state constitution, but this firms it up even more.

I think this change is due to the horror stories coming from other states where women suffering an incomplete miscarriage are denied a necessary D&C until it becomes an emergency, also women with non-viable ectopic pregnancies that are denied operations until it becomes a life-threatening situation.  I think these situations are worse than before Roe v. Wade because I doubt people then ever considered it a legally prosecutable abortion.  Also, it avoids the late pregnancy abortion controversy which is such a tiny percentage, and usually only happens to save the health of the mother, or remove a fetus that is no longer alive.

I don't know if Jinger goes into detail about this in the book, but she says in an interview she and Jeremy talked about birth control prior to marriage. It makes sense to me now as they likely used some method on their wedding night. But it also makes me wonder what else they talked about.

Maybe I got it all wrong, but perhaps Jinger didn't marry Jeremy and blindly follow him lockstep. Perhaps Jinger made her first leap away from her parents beliefs (and her own) by choosing to marry Jeremy and intentionally opening the path to "freedom".

We already knew that Jessa and Jinger talked to Ben and Jeremy on the phone without a parent or chaperone being on the call.  Jessa also made a point that she and Ben would talk without anyone in range to hear.  They just had to be in eye sight range.

Pure speculation...

I'm thinking in the book Jinger speaks fondly of her childhood growing up and makes it clear she wasn't consumed by anxiety on a daily basis. What I've read and heard so far makes me think Ben's spin on his beliefs gave Jinger the opportunity to connect some dots and got her thinking she wanted changes, but it wasn't until after she was out of the house she fully connected all the dots and clearly saw the damage caused by the way she was raised.

I’m really curious as to how that is going over with JB and Michelle.

JB and Meech only had 19 kids because they are still mentally horny teenagers who like the fact they are allowed all the sex they want.   Also Meech got lots of attention from being pregnant.   It was never about the "blessings."  Michelle even said she had to pray to have a heart for children.  She didn't WANT that many kids she just wanted the ATTENTION from having that many kids (which is why I side eye the suggestions that she MUST love Josh because he's her oldest, well no, you can not love ALL your kids not just some of them)   It was about attention -- why else would the MOTHER hang her menstrual calendar for all to see?   Oh and who can forget the dry humping at minature golf?

I've said it before, the parents chose Gothardism because the basic tenent is CONTROL.   Plus all the sex you want without the wife every being able to plead a headache.  It was never about God and being good people.

Curious as to how the younger siblings feel about that too.

At 9 AM today I was 11th in line for Jinger's book with an estimated 20 week wait.  At 10 AM a notification popped up on my phone it was ready to borrow.

ETA:  Our library is now showing 18 copies all checked out and 94 holds.

Jinger's really making the national rounds with this book.

Jeremy's probably quite taken aback that it's not him being interviewed by US or People, fielding in-depth questions about how it feels to be a top cheeseburger influencer, or being asked for a tour of his incredible fountain pen collection.

Hopefully he's being supportive of her and not petulant.

Per Jinger they were both scheduled to be interviewed by Tamron Hall in her show this morning. I’d love to watch that interview. See if Jeremy can restrain himself from correcting Jinger.

It's interesting how much she is being asked about Josh.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  He is her brother, but this is supposed to be her story.  She is not responsible for what he did in the past nor for what finally got him locked up.  I think she handled the Page Six interviewer's questions pretty well.  This can't be comfortable for her.

I agree that it isn’t fair, but it will be a fact of life for the remaining 18 for the rest of their lives. When Ju Ju Chang brought the FF up she framed it regarding hypocrisy. One more thing the 18 can thank their craven, fame whore parents. They signed up for the specials knowing damn well about the evil acts the FF had committed. And in their hubris thought it was a great idea to go on TV and tell everyone how to live their lives. They preached about their so called values and adherence to scripture. They used Deanna and Amy as cautionary tales about the evils of out of wedlock pregnancy, and being worldly. Funny how Amy has flaws like all of us but has never had problems with the law and is certainly not a pedophile preying on her own siblings, or cousins in her case. I feel bad for the siblings but may JB and Michelle suffer in shame until their last breath.

No copies showing in the Florida Keys Library system.

One of my colleagues ordered a copy for our library system, and our distributor has not shipped it yet.  Which is totally unsurprising.  We are still waiting on the books that released last week to ship also the books from January 17th.

RE:  The Entertainment Tonight video a few posts above this one:  I was shocked to see that the ET interviewer asked Jinger if she was one of Josh's victims.  That was so inappropriate.

I doubt Jinger  goes into detail about Josh in her book. She traded one cult for another. She's far from 'Becoming Free'

Perhaps not great detail, but if she mentions him, it’s not out there to include it in an interview about the book.
