SERIES FINALE!

Quote

Rayna resorts to drastic measures when she learns that Maddie has crossed paths with a duplicitous figure from her past. Juliette must choose how to publicly reckon with the truth of Jeff Fordham's death—a decision that directly affects Layla. Scarlett and Gunnar consider parting ways as bandmates, and Will finally decides to do what he should have done long ago – step up as the leader of a cause and a community.

Oh the show really wants me to hate Layla, even in the series finale. Bitch sold out Juliette and what happened with Jeff. Seriously, sorry, Layla is the worst. Forever. And always. There was a blip in time in this show when I may have liked that character, Oh Layla-crow I won't miss you, most of all.  I

I love Rayna, maybe it's the fact that she is Maddie's mother but I just can't..with her.

I don't care about Scarlet and Gunner. At this point..I'm just over both of them. They've been doing this dance FOR THE 4 YEARS THIS SHOW HAS BEEN ON. And they were only together for like three to four episodes at the tail end of their first season. When does the merry go round end? ("I'm sick of arguing about the past", and us viewers have been sick of hearing about it, Gunner). These two should have never started up a band together. Also when did their manager become the person that is all about mending their romantic relationship? Whatever. It doesn't matter. I did love how their manager was all up them being a couple.

KEVIN! And Will. You know, at the end of the day, they may have my OTP of this entire show-romantic wise(Glen and Juliette are probably the top OTP of this show for their awesome non romantic relationship) I never got the Rayna/Deacon, except for those 1-2 episodes in the first season, but I never got it and I loved Avery/Juliette but Will and Kevin for the win of OTP. Also, yay, pop up concerts for the win.

Luke Wheeler is what I am going to take away from this show. He is the greatest. Also someone remembered he almost married Rayna that one time! On the show they remembered. We remember it all the time but it's never mentioned on the show, even when Deacon opened up a bar and he and Luke were like best buds jamming on stage together and there was no awkward, "hey remember that time you almost married my now wife and she left you at the alter because she was still in love with me?" "yeah, that was crazy, right?" I don't know..I guess it's nice that he realized he was still in love with his ex-wife but then what has he been doing throughout this whole show? Rayna, Christina A that time she came on, the random women who worked at his company. Also, we saw his daughter for the first time in years!!!!!

Glen's speech to Layla was the greatest.  I want that on replay. Oh Layla, Glen would walk though fire for Juliette, no one is walking through anything for you and your bunny boiling behavior. Sorry I am not sorry. And Avery's breakup to her was just as awesome.

There was always going to be a James/Conrad/Clayborne reunion. Always. It shouldn't be that easy, though.

I can't believe we actually ended on a cliffhanger like that. That pisses me off. Poor Juliette and Avery.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am pretending that Juliette made it home safely to Avery and her daughter.

That's how I'm going to choose to say it ended. What the fuck show. You knew it was a possibility that it wouldn't get renewed you couldn't of had a alternative ending where Juliette arrives safely to meet Avery and Cadence?  You know what fuck you ABC as well for not say you we re not renewing this sooner so they couldn't plan a proper finale

WHAT????  Ugh.  I am so disappointed.  I spent the episode sad that it was the last one but satisfied with the way they were wrapping things up ... and then --- the fucking last 20 seconds!!!  Seriously?  Was that supposed to be the big cliff-hanger if they got another season?

Any chance this series will be picked up elsewhere?  CMT or another station like that?

According to TVLine, they did shoot that ending but chose not to show it in the hopes that the cliffhanger will make the idea of a season 5 more attractive to the people they're shopping it around to.

I'm figuring they left that cliffhanger to give Hayden a way out just in case it does get picked up by another network. She may not want to be involved, or she may not be able to. This gives them a way to move on. And if it doesn't get picked up we can all just pretend that there was an equipment malfunction and all turned out well.

Overall I liked it though it was way too rushed. Would have liked to see this build up over 2 or 3 episodes. Don't know why they couldn't have done that.

I have a feeling that TPTB ended it that way in order to ensure watchers if the show moves elsewhere.  Originally , I thought Hayden might have requested to be killed off so she very definitely could be done with the show so I wasn't surprised with losing contact with Juliette's  plane, just the fact that they used it for a cliffhanger.

I thought they did a pretty good job all things considered. They were still hoping it would get picked up and there has to be a cliffhanger just in case. i also heard Hayden wasn't sure she would return in any case. Happy to see WIll and Kevin, Gunnar and Scarlett, Rayna and Deacon all happy. Even Leila got happy news. Not sure I believed the part about Luke still having love for his Ex, but Luke turned out to be one of the best characters on the show.

Glad Maddie escaped from Fun Bobby (Friends reference) and she is back home. Yes, I will pretend Juliette landed safely to her family. She never was my favorite character, but I want happy endings for everyone.

I was wondering if we'd get a Fun Bobby reference. Heh. Turns out Not So Fun Bobby is really not fun for a reason! Well played, Madding crowd.

ETA: Wait 'til Hollywood finds out that Juliette's commitment to her role as Patsy included disappearing on a plane! Bet they'll be sorry they gave that Oscar to some other lady!

Even more finale silliness.

There were some decent moments in tonight's show. Will and Luke continue to rock my rainbow flag waving world.  Loved how show Luke changed his mind about Will over a few seasons, it was nuanced and well done. Kevin and Will get a happy ending. Hooray!

Sad Scarlett gets her mop haired man. In my Nashworld, Autumn got run over by a forklift backstage and the Exes just took over as headliners.

Crayla got dumped twice. I cheered when Avery said she was crazy. Glenn choosing Juliette was all kinds of awesome. But, Bucky is always so flipping clueless!

Juliette got a sit down interview with someone on the night of the Oscars?  Yep, that happens. But, our girl really grew up and owned her past. Hayden looked so beautiful too.

Maddie is back home? I give her an hour before she's a total brat again. Deacon, thanks for not punching Dr. Luke, erm, skeevy producer guy.

  • Love 16

I still really hate that everyone just forgave Maddie instantly. So, just because she has an almost situation happen with gross producer guy and then decides she is going to leave with Deacon and leave Cash at Fun Bobby's and go back to her parents, all is forgiven. Despite the fact that she allowed Deacon to be ambushed at the court hearing. I don't know. Little things make me mad about this show. Also that they allowed Layla to get what she wanted at the end of it all.

All I have to say is that Lionsgate better put their money and whatever else they've got where their mouth is.  Otherwise, that ending blows!  Juliette can't possibly be frickin' happy, and Cadance has potentially lost her mother for good.   Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

I know that this was the series finale (as far as we know at this moment), but I'm annoyed at all of the hugs and kisses for Maddie.  Blech!

Glenn is awesome.  I love how he got wise to Layla (finally), and how he's always been in Juliette's corner.

They better find that plane and fix that ending...even if I have to watch it online.

Maybe they know something we don't know?  Like somebody was interested in picking it up?  That's why they made it a cliffhanger?

::grasping at straws:::

That's got to be it.  It has to be it.  That is uber confidence to do what Lionsgate just did, and they released a Tweet that's in the TVLine article.  Something's got to be happening and be close to guaranteed.  Otherwise, some Lionsgate executive made a colossally bad decision to not air the happy ending.

There are 1000 ways to get rid of Juliette post-fifth season pickup. They could have left it with Juliette on the plane coming home.  It wouldn't be as satisfying as other wrap-ups but it wouldn't be so uneasy.

And literally every other character got to end on a positive note.  Like it felt complete.  If I were watching in a binge, I would feel satisfied in every story (few of which I actually cared about) except for Juliette and Avery/Juliette.  A "potential next season" isn't a good enough excuse let's face it, if this show is renewed not all of these happy endings are going to stick.  They're going to have to either undo a lot of them or introduce new travails.

If show comes back and there was a fatal plane crash, JJ can do heartbroken with the best of them.

Of course he can but that's so depressing.  It feels like every story on this show is heartbreak.  Except for the finale...Except for Juliette and Avery.

  • Love 13

Well that was bizarre. They were doing slightly better than the Castle finale until the cliffhanger. Pretty much everyone was getting some kind of happy ending and poor Juliette can't win at all. So Castle and Nashville show runners basically competed this season in who can do the worse damage to the lead female character.

  • Love 1

Well that was pretty bad.

Loved Luke and Will's story, and them singing outside for their pop up concert. That was so Nashville to me.

Gunner and Scarlett's kiss on stage was actually the part of the finale I liked the best. Juliette plane being missing was just stupid. Maddie just runs home just like that and pretends nothing about the last few months?

Most shocking thing was Deacon didn't punch the guy.

Either that or they thought it would sell the DVDs. If they filmed it, perhaps its in the bonus features

At least they didn't air the original endings for the other story lines... wasn't Kevin supposed to get shot? What were the others?

I was petrified the entire episode.
