Is Danny gonna be getting a plane ticket home?  God he is annoying and immature.  Deckhand Jen (with the obnoxious shelf teeth) has obvi been cast as Sam 2.0.  The captain (can't remember his name) has the exact same voice as the actor who does the Farmers Insurance commercials.  I don't get what's going on with the captain's upper face.  Weird, shiny, too much botox or ???  and those uber-thin eyebrows...  i don't get it.  I find Jen and the captain's looks very distracting.  I'm being very superficial, I know, but this franchise is sooo boring and I'm so disappointed.  I want Ben to go back on the original Below Deck franchise and this Med series to get the boot.  The cast members just don't gel?

Danny's jaw dropping stupidity is actually somewhat impressive.

You almost have to work at being that dumb.

Danny's like teen boy stupid. How many times in a one week period is he going to put his job in jeopardy? How long did he wait between the bar girls and the Tilted Kilt girl? Honestly, I think it might have been less than 48 hours. To see that he caps off this charter by being confined to crew quarters and writing teary love poems to his Tilted Kilted Love on napkins is the height of absurd immaturity. This shit is going to turn into Trashy Romeo and Juliet.

I've had more than enough of Jentitled.  The more she isn't treated like the best crew member ever (MVP??? REALLY???) the worse her work gets.  She's so emo, and I'm not sure at this point who is more immature, her or Danny.

Were the Tilted Kilt girls served smoked salmon and bread 3 different times that we were shown?  I love smoked salmon as much as anyone, and certainly understand why they were interested in a midnight snack of the leftovers from dinner, but to have it again for lunch the next day would make me start wondering if I was getting a bit of a short deal, yacht-foodwise.  I was distracted when Hannah said something about taking advantage of the fact that these guests don't know any better so they could take shortcuts to make their jobs easier - was this one of those things?  I think they should get the exact same level of service as any multimillionaire, because a charter guest is a charter guest.  Giving less effort because you feel these clients are less deserving is poor form, and unprofessional.

Danny said he hadn't gotten butterflies with a girl since high school, but wasn't that just 6 minutes before he first boarded the yacht?  He's too young to even know how wrong he is about having made a "deep connection" with the girl who gives "hand hugs".  I wanted to see whether or not he poured the Patron back into the bottle after he took it back from the two girls he shouldn't have brought back to the boat, even though I already know for sure that's what he did.  So gross.

I do not find Bobby attractive at all.  I think he guffaws like a donkey, he's not nearly as funny as he thinks, and his solid black tattooed arm grosses me out... it makes me think of gangrene.  Every time he showboats and spouts off about how attractive he finds every woman who steps onto the boat I feel like he's doing it just so his ex will see it, and rue the day she ever let him get away.  Ten bucks says the opposite is happening.

I felt kind of bad that the guests were being edited as a pack of idiots.  They are young waitresses in a sports bar, so it certainly stands to reason that they haven't necessarily had sparkling water before.  I was in my mid-30's before I ever tried it.  I also was somewhat unfamiliar with capers until my mid-20's.  They aren't the typical charter guests, they are experiencing a different level of service than they are used to, and they certainly aren't behaving like jerks so I wish that kind of stuff had been left on the cutting room floor.

Am I missing something, because Bryan doesn't seem that bad to me?  He is your boss, Jen, he is kind of supposed to tell you what to do.  That's how life works, snowflake.  Especially when you seem to have zero motivation to figure it out on your own.

But Jen has worked on over 30 boats, so she knows everything. Bryan does not seem that bad to me either. Sometimes I think he is a bit in over his head, but he is learning and trying. I think he is doing well overall. Even when Bryan is correcting the deckhands I feel like he is saying everything pretty respectfully. I feel like if Jen wanted more responsibility than she would try to appear that she actually liked her job. I do not think Bryan is out to get her like she seems to think. Jen does seem to be a bit standoffish with the other deckhands and Bryan, so maybe he just does not have a read on her personality yet.

This is so going to be hilarious though!

I am enjoying this franchise so far. No one sends me into a rage blackout like original recipe Sam, Adrienne, Rocky, Leon, and even Kat. The cast members on Mediterranean that I am not a fan of like Jen or Danny really are not that bad. Everyone seems to have their faults/quirks, but nothing to really make me hate them yet. That could all change though.

Danny's Tilted Kilt girl reminded me of original Lulu Spencer on General Hospital.

Agreed. They seemed well behaved, decently spoken, and considerate. My guess is that they appreciate good service and hard work because they probably give good service and work hard themselves.

The girl with whom Danny is flirting may not realize he's not supposed to "fraternize" with her. On the other hand, he DOES KNOW, so he should lay off.

The crew behaves less professionally than the guests.

I was thought the waitress guests were as well-behaved as most, is not all, of the usual yachty guests.  I was impressed that when some of the girls did not know about certain foods, the correct answers were supplied by others in their party and not from the crew.  I am not as impressed with the crew (I'm looking at you Bobby/Danny/Jen).

Can't stand Jen but I think that is what producers were angling for.  What an unpleasant person. Seems to always be in a bad mood.  I have worked with way too many people like her who seem to think just by showing up to work, they deserve special treatment. Those people suck the lifeblood out of you.

Danny does act like a teen boy but at least he seems kind hearted. No doubt he will be going home.

I enjoy Ben's take on people.

Don't care for anyone on this crew except the English stew who has a boyfriend so stays out of trouble and so far gets along with everybody and Ben who is in on this joke and is just happy cooking and collecting his money.

The background scenery is jaw dropping.

The captain and the comments about his face: After careful observation,I think he tweezes his eyebrows and then fills them in with black brow pencil ! Why he does that, I could never guess, but it's distracting as hell.

I thought the drooling over the model/waitresses was excessive.  Sure, they were cute girls, but they weren't Victoria Secret models.  They are like, normal attractive people you would see at the beach.  Act like you have been there, man.  It was pathetic and so ridiculously unprofessional.  I am secondhand embarrassed for those guys.  I also cannot stand when people in the service industry look down on the people they are paid to assist.  It's not your job to judge whether you deem your guests worthy of your service.  Last time I checked, you are working on a mega-yatch, not renting it, so you are in no position to judge the guests.  If you can't accept that, then you should not be in the service industry.  Everyone should be treated with respect, just as the guests should respect you and value your work. It's gross.

I am not sold on this spin off yet.  There is not enough travel porn, the charter guests have been sort of boring, and the cast lacks that certain something that makes a show click.  Hannah is not as witty as Kate, so we do not have the entertaining banter/sparring with Ben or the clever commentary.  Bryan is not as funny/charming as Eddie (pre-Rocky debacle) and is way too high on his horse for my taste.  I like the second stew but can't remember her name, so that's probably not a good sign.  Bobby is blah bordering on annoying. Daniel thinks he is more charming than he is...when in fact I think he is creepy.  He also strikes me as lazy under the guise of providing "service" to the guest.  He thinks is self-stated stellar personality is worth more to the guests than actual work, which is not true.  Jen is insufferable and not in a good way.  Hopefully if someone gets replaced it will add new life to the cast.  And MORE GREECE please!

I agree, but isn't that the premise of the show?

Danny is acting like a lovestruck teenager.  That scene of he and the Tilted Kilt girl behind the rocks?  "I'm going to kiss you now...." - I was waiting for Connie Francis (RIP) to start belting out "Where the Boys Are", and seeing the scene switch to a sunset with the waves crashing over the rocks.

I'm thinking that he may be the first one to get a ticket home.  He just can't seem to get out of his own way~~he keeps thinking with his lower brain and not the one above his shoulders!!

Bobby has Michael Phelps syndrome, ie, what some would refer to as a hot body (minus the awful tats), but with a dufus face. And wtf is the Tilted Kilt? A low rent Hooters?? I'm sorry, but if those were the most attractive waitresses that they employ, then yikes!

Tilted Kilt is a franchise sports bar, where the theme/decor is "sort of" Irish.  The waitresses dress in teeny little kilt-skirts and cropped tops (they were wearing their uniforms in one of the photo shoots).  The food is typical chain-restaurant pub grub fare, nothing special.

Very similar to Hooters.  The franchise very hot right now, with Tilted Kilt restaurants/bars popping up all over.

Check out their website - www.tiltedkilt.com.  There's a link for "Kilt Girls" and a monthly "calendar girl"....it's interesting, LOL!!   ;-)   I think some of the girls were in the group on the yacht, including the hula hoop girl.

Wouldn't that be Scottish, not Irish?

That was some first-rate hula hooping.

I feel some bittersweet regret for Danny's crush object because her day-to-day life is probably full of Deckhand Dannys slobbering around and hoping for hand hugs.  She'd have a sweeter calendar-making/high-end yachting experience for her memory bank if she just giggled with her girlfriends, enjoying the gold swans in the marbled bathrooms of the "Titanic," the luxury of midnight smoked salmon on a whim and whatever they're allowed to see of Greece.

I agree this charter group was very nice and must have been a pleasure to work with.  When the captain went over their information he told Ben that the list for food choices for the main person was small and all the girls had the exact same thing.  I did notice that the girls wanted to raid the fridge to finish off the salmon but Ben got up and fixed it for them.

Danny kept those girls up for hours into the early morning when they had a shoot the next day.  It looked to me like the girls were trying to be polite to him and not the other way around.  His whole blather about getting tips depending on service .......I was yelling at the tv, "Not from a deckhand you idiot".

I don't know if the kilts are meant to loosely depict Scottish or Irish heritage, since they are all the same tartan, and I've never seen anyone wear an actual kilt that was cut that short and revealing (that's why I said the theme/decor is "sort of Irish").  I just answered a question that was asked about the type of restaurant the Tilted Kilt restaurants are.

Either way, I don't like any of these type of restaurants that objectify women, but if these girls are okay with that, and doing what they need to get by, that's fine.  Plus, if they got a free trip to the Mediterranean to hang out on a beautiful yacht, why not?

Bryan gives me early warning signs of being another Eddie.

Oh, I don't think so. Eddie seemed to be low key to me. He was really helpful to Connie and willing to help her learn more. Bryan on the other hand doesn't seem to care very much about Jen. Granted she is not the worker Connie is, but Bryan isn't giving Jen any kind of chance at all.

I don't know. That's how I see it anyway

Jen keeps talking about working on 30 boats. Well, she's pretty young so she must not last on any of them, or they don't ask her back after one season. So it may not be such a good thing to brag about.

I think Bryan is fine, not sure what he's done that's so bad.

Danny is stupid, unless he was hired to play this role and was supposed to get canned? Anything else is just sad.

I think Bryan's a pretty bad First Mate but that has nothing to do with his treatment of Jen. I get the feeling he's in over his head with this promotion and the way he handled the girls on board was super sloppy. It does not bode well that he's entirely oblivious to his deckhands bringing some townies on board. And then Hannah was the one to sort it out after he bitched at her for the way she runs her department. Side note, Hannah does not impress me but at least she matured after one charter instead of the full season it took Kate. He's not a bad guy, and maybe in a few years he might be a decent FM, but right now it looks like he's treading water in an attempt to lead this parade of idiots.

Danny is too stupid to breathe.  I get that he's a young guy and the girls are cute but someone needs to sit him down and teach him about boundaries.  The captain has told them that they don't party with the guests, but Danny's all, "we have a connection," (ugh, I hate that phrase).  He thinks he's on the Love Boat.

The reason why there is a no fraternization policy on some cruise ships (as well as some charters I'm sure) is to protect everybody, guests and crew.  Vacation/alcohol/warm weather/beautiful locations, can make people behave in ways they would not normally behave.

Years ago I was on a cruise with a group.  One of the women in the group, an attractive forty something woman fell hard for one of our waiters.  To be honest, he was HOT.  Now, I don't know what happened between them, but I suspect it became sexual very fast.  On the last day of the cruise, as we were getting off the ship, she was depressed because he was not there to say goodbye to her; later she got pissed because she thought he took advantage of her.  It was like a bad Lifetime movie.  I think that's why a lot of cruise ships have that "no fraternization" policy, to keep shit like that from happening.

Also, Danny last week was also chatting with the male guests when he should have been working.

I think there might be more to the Brian/Jen thing then we are seeing. Jen is awful and was stupid to be late and try to lie about it on their first day but Brian was also harder on Jen for not telling him she was in the bathroom than he was on Danny and Bobby for bringing women on board and drinking the boats alcohol. There also have been more than one scene where Brian, Bobby and Danny were standing around talking and it then cut to Jen doing actual work.

Yes, that scene was disturbingly "bro-y" to me.  His response to his employees bringing strangers on to the boat and drinking alcohol reserved for guests (both a liability and an expense to the owners of the boat) was very nonchalant, "I got your back."  But then Jen gets reamed out for not asking for a potty break?  There is a disconnect there for me.  Add that to Bryan inserting himself into Hannah's conversation with Tiffany and I see a pattern where Bryan really likes to exercise his "authority" over women, but sees men as his peers/equals.

I think Bryan is really questioning if he can trust Jen more so than the guys.  They seem to be a little slow on the uptake but willing to admit what they did and take their lumps.  To me, Bryan was harder on the guys because he went straight to the captain the next day.  With Jen he is just observing, correcting her and making mental notes.

When Bryan butted in to the Hannah/Tiffany conversation, I thought he was trying to be helpful and didn't realize that nothing was going to help that conversation/chewing out.

  • Love 1

If Bryan had gone to the captain with the fact that Jen didn't tell him when she went to the bathroom the captain would most likely demote him because it would illustrate a complete lack of leadership; whereas he had to go to the captain with the B/D issue because it was so egregious so him going to the captain isnt being harder on them. My point was the way he spoke to the parties.
