The problem for all of these actors is that their options are pretty limited...and become more so the longer they work in soaps. Actors who put in two years on a soap seem to have an easier time finding other work afterwards than those who are perceived as career soap actors. 

I've always been surprised Becky didn't try to leave at all in the late 90s/early aughts... all of her contemporaries (JJ, SB, TC, AT) did, and she'd gotten a decent amount of work before GH. My guess is that she appreciated the steadiness of the work and probably hated auditioning as a teen actor--she's quite shy. And now I think it would be very hard to leave. She's the breadwinner in her family and her kids are young.

I remember back when Port Charles was ending, there was some soap press about how Kelly Monaco's team thought she could make it in primetime--she'd been sort of the hot young thing on that show, and this is back when soap stars got more buzz in mainstream media. But apparently she just had her heart set on General Hospital. 

Honestly, I think most of the cast over 30 is willing to go down with the ship.

Actually, isn't her oldest almost 18 with her daughter not much younger? I know her third kid may be younger, but if Becky ever got the sudden urge to do something, now would possibly be good, too, since her kids are actually older now. (Not that she will at this point.)

Yes I've read she's shy and hates to audition but I think she would've had a good chance outside of soaps if she left when you mentioned. When BH joined GH, Dawson's Creek was at the height of its popularity and Becky's look and acting style was very similar to Katie Holmes' I thought. She must like the steady work and stability a soap provides, it's about as low key 9-5  as you can find in show business which I imagine makes managing time with family easier. As much as I love Elizabeth, I do wish she'd taken up DOOL some years back when they were courting her during contract negotiations just to see her play another soap role. She deserves a lot better as a vet and good actor with a big fanbase than she's gotten in recent years at GH.

The oldest son, Ethan, is a high school Senior this year.  Ella will be 15 in April which puts her at about a Freshman.  Emerson will be 9 in August so he's almost ready for middle school.

Sorry, I meant young as in "needing to be provided for." College tuition, etc. They aren't little kids though.

I remember reading in Carolyn Hinsey's book where a fellow castmember on GL described LW as a "smart cookie" who figured out before anybody else the show was doomed and left for GH.  Ever since then, I've seen her as the "tell".  If she suddenly starts making noises about leaving GH for greener pastures, then we'll know for sure the cancellation is coming down the pike.

I just...I don't think Brytni Sarpy is the world's best actresses or anything, but how the show wasted Valerie is really frustrating to me.  Taking advantage of Pat to make a new branch of the Spencer clan, and injecting some diversity into said clan with Valerie, was such a smart decision, but pretty much everything they did with the character after was a disaster.

After the "shock" of Lulu's cousin sleeping with her husband, there was absolutely no followthrough of the family connection. It was pretty pointless in the first place, really. Everything they did with Valerie could have happened whether she was a Spencer or not. What a colossal waste.

Dominic Zamprogna is returning to GH as Dante, the role he vacated last year after a 9-year run, and posted a selfie from inside his temporary dressing room (his old one was reassigned to Josh Swickard, Chase). While it’s not a permanent comeback, he will be staying longer than the one-day return he made for the special Sonny-centric show late last year.

Based solely on the social media posts I see on this forum, Parry seems like a nice guy.  I loved his recent post fanboying about Tristan Rogers.  I could definitely relate to it.

Parry Shen's Twitter is delightful. He seems to have a very pragmatic view of GH and his place on it, which I appreciate. I also like how he's been able to change Brad from a sleazy predator to a fairly decent guy who's desperate to keep his husband happy at all costs. And Shen makes us aware of that sleazy predator layer whenever someone brings up his shady dealings.

Jax confided in Alexis about the whole Joss/Nelle/kidney thing.  And then later, when Alexis was first spiraling into alcoholism, she basically blackmailed him with that knowledge to keep him from interfering with her drinking.  It was not cute.

No he didn't.  I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I think the story was that when Joss was diagnosed, Jax somehow reached out to some black market contacts and got a kidney that turned out to be Nelle's.  But in that time, Jake had "died" and his kidney had already been donated.  So Jax arranged for the black market kidney to go to another person in need.  After that...Helena.

I can't remember the chronology of events, but aside from SLs, there was backstage stuff with Nancy and Ingo. He turned out to be a MAGA, at least temporarily. Nancy is super-liberal, of course. IIRC, some of his posts caused real tension.
