MMLEsq April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 I didn't really care for the Joan Rivers + Tracy Morgan episode last night. TM "pled the 5th" twice out of three questions (boo!) and JR's plastic surgery was so distracting that I almost couldn't watch. I'm not sure how I feel about Lindsay Lohan on tonight's episode. If Andy snarks on her, I'll watch. If he's going to treat her with kid gloves, I don't know if I can take it. 2 Link to comment
imjagain April 18, 2014 Share April 18, 2014 I haven't watched the Lindsay episode yet. I'm sure Andy will be nice to her. So I'm not really sure I'll watch soon. I'll see what people are saying first.I have no real interest in seeing Andy tell her how great she looks. I heard the set was clean/ no booze. That seems dumb Lindsay says her self she can hang out with people drinking no problem.( yeah OK). Link to comment
Irritable April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 I was excited to see Marisa Tomei in a laid-back interview setting, because I had only ever seen her in movies. But she mostly just laughed, and it was a very annoying, fake-sounding, monotone laugh, and by the end of the half hour I was like damn, Marisa, please just stop. Boy George was a charmer, though. Loved his story about Princess Diana going over to talk to his mother for 30 minutes because he told her his mum was a fan. I like that Andy is bringing his beagle to the clubhouse every night. We had a beagle with devastating separation anxiety, and if that's why he started bringing his dog to work, then Andy is okay in my book. 1 Link to comment
KraftEasyMac April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 (edited) Popping in to stir up some discussion. Hopefully this forum grabs a little more steam as time goes on because this show has a permanent spot in my nightly DVR and is one of my guiltiest pleasures. I watched through covered eyes during last week's crapfest with Lindsay. Andy totally pussyfooted around with her, and I was so disgusted with her whole look and demeanor. She has to be the crustiest 27 year old ever and doesn't look a day under 51. And all of the answers she gave were dripping with condescension and pretention. She can go away at any time now. Enjoyed Gillian Jacobs and Heather Dubrow much more than I thought. Heather annoyed me from time to time on RHOOC, but the two of them were pretty enjoyable here. Aside from Gillian asking for a Wretchen/Slade Slimey wedding special. WTF. No. Also loved loved loved LuAnn and Billy Eichner. I can't help it, I know that both are acquired tastes but I just adore them both and really enjoyed their dynamic. I feel as though they have guested together on WWHL before. Can anyone confirm or deny? I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Boy George, but Marisa Tomei seemed a little wasted. During the Squirting game, she kept grabbing at Boy's arm and he kept giving her these Looks. It doesn't help that I recently read a blind item reveal citing her as the meanest drunk in Hollywood. I am avoiding watching Mario Lopez because he makes me physically ill. The guy just oozes sliminess. And didn't Brandy kill someone in her car not that long ago? Ugh. Pass on them. At least two equally vile people were paired together so it's an easy delete. Edited April 25, 2014 by KraftEasyMac Link to comment
MMLEsq April 29, 2014 Share April 29, 2014 I like Leslie Mann, but she and Cameron Diaz were really annoying last night...giggling, whispering to each other, generally more interested in inside jokes than in actually paying attention to what was going on during the show. Although I generally don't like Cameron Diaz in most things, so I might be a bit biased. Also, not to be mean, but I think they could have come up with some better "man (eye) candy" than the bartender they found. I'm really looking forward to seeing Julie Andrews and Idina Menzel. How long before Andy brings up "Adele Dazeem"? -- my guess is that he'll bring it up during the introductions at the top of the show. 2 Link to comment
Stinger97 May 1, 2014 Share May 1, 2014 Just swinging in to discuss tonight's caller, "Mercedes," and her question for Jordan Knight. She was trying her hardest to use her sexy voice while also doing her best to embarrass Jordan on live television. Either she was the one he hooked up with on that Coca Cola cruise in 1990, or she just threw something out there in hopes of Jordan admitting to it. Either way, it was an awkward minute or so. I swear that Andy is angling to bone just about any attractive man who walks onto his set. I know Dustin did some gay porn before appearing on his season of The Real World, and I'm not entirely convinced that Andy won't be trying to move in on that tonight. 1 Link to comment

Yes, that Mercedes phone call was very odd. It seemed pretty clear to me that either Jordan hooked up with her on that cruise, or with someone she knew. I haven't watched The Real World since they were in Chicago (!!!), so I had no clue who either of those guys were. Link to comment

Irritable May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 My favorite guest on this show so far is Grumpy Cat. I had no idea I would get so excited, but damn if I didn't squeal with joy when he announced she was behind the bar, bored nearly to death. Link to comment
TVFan17 June 2, 2014 Share June 2, 2014 (edited) I like Andy Cohen -- I think he has a natural boyish glee and charm about him. He seems to just be a naturally happy, upbeat person, but he is also very much "in on the joke," and has a sense of humor about himself and his various shows. I also love that he can literally have A-List celebrities from all facets of pop culture on the show, along with Real Housewives and strippers behind the bar. Sometimes I wonder why Andy feels the need to constantly remind everyone how much he loves his weed, though. Lol. I mean, I drink coffee every day but I'm not constantly finding ways to work coffee into the conversation because...who cares? I feel like Andy is always trying to let us know that he smokes, which is cool for him -- but I just don't care! Lol. I'd rather hear about who he is dating than what he smokes. The other issue I have is that I feel that Andy needs to pace things a bit better and read each situation separately, on a case-by-case basis. Some guests turn out to be duds, or just not very talkative and open. When Andy gets one of those, that should be the time when he breaks out the games and starts moving things along at warp speed. However, there are times -- every now and then -- when Andy gets a guest who seems more than willing to talk and reveal things/share stories/details, and instead of keeping quiet and letting them continue, Andy will shift gears and launch into one of those (sometimes silly) games! I think that if he is lucky enough to get a guest who is willing to be open, he should roll with it and skip the games. The hyper/manic speed with which Andy moves things along can be good or bad, depending on the circumstances. Edited June 2, 2014 by Sherry67 2 Link to comment
ExplainItAgain June 2, 2014 Share June 2, 2014 I like Andy himself and agree that he has a certain charm about him. I just don't like several things about WWHL: the dog (I incessantly beat this topic to death over at TWOP so I will try to restrain myself here!), the silly games and making up stuff to put his guests on the spot (recently with Harry Hamlin, but he has tried to "trick" other guests with this too). I kind of miss Andy asking what the celebs are drinking...I always want to know that for some reason. Andy seems well-versed in pop culture and when guests reference past projects or people they've worked with Andy always seems to know about it, which is more than I can say for some talk show hosts. Andy seems to do his research (or his interns do and he studies well) and at least gives the appearance that he reads the books, listens to the CDs and sees the movies. I'm surprised he's not dating anyone. Can't SJP set him up with somebody?! 1 Link to comment
TVFan17 June 2, 2014 Share June 2, 2014 (edited) ExplainItAgain -- I didn't jump in on a WWHL discussion until I made the switch from TWoP to this forum, so I missed your comments on Wacha. What is the general consensus? Is the dog is getting too much airtime? Not enough airtime? I like Andy's dog, and sometimes I like seeing certain guests interacting with the dog, but then there are other times when it seems like Andy is the equivalent of a stage mom trotting out her little pageant princess to look cute in front of the camera. Andy appears to have a lot of famous friends -- SJP, Anderson Cooper, Ricki Lake, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Lance Bass, Uma Thurman, Liam Neeson, etc. Surely he must meet some great, interesting men while running around in those circles. Andy is a good catch, so there can't be a shortage of men hitting on him. If he is dating anyone seriously he is keeping it quiet and not shouting it from the rooftops like he does with his reefer madness and alcohol consumption! If he is not finding any quality people to date it might be because he wants to stay unattached, or maybe he keeps attracting up and coming actors/models/singers who want to use him to get into the public eye (and a show on Bravo)? My problem with Wacha is that he doesn't seem to be well trained. Before they decided to always have a chew toy out there for him, he would always steal and/or chew up people's stuff (one time it was someone's reading glasses). And I don't understand why he needs to be brought out on every single show. 1 Link to comment

After taping WWHL he goes club hopping til the wee hours of the morning, not the behavior of a good catch, more the behavior of an arrested development. He parades the dog to prove how responsible and loving he is. Yes. A good catch, crazy as that may sound! I doubt that anyone is perfect and without flaws, but that doesn't mean that they can't be a good catch and have a lot going for themselves. If 90% of the celebrities in "Hollywood" (or, hell, non-Hollywood people too) were labeled "not good catches" because of their impaired emotional maturity, goofy terminology and extracurricular activities, I wonder if anyone would ever date at all! Andy is not the only one who uses the phrases "down with the swirl" and "Bravo-lebrity." I have heard lots of other people using them too. I have no idea whether anyone else uses "Mexi-Jew." In addition to his many flaws, Andy is also rich, smart, well-connected, fairly powerful in the TV world at this point, and a relatively nice-looking guy with a happy, chipper demeanor. I don't care if he goes club-hopping. It doesn't affect me. He parades the dog around -- which is silly, yes, but I'm glad he loves his dog! I'd rather that he love the dog than not love the dog. As I mentioned in my above posts -- he also constantly finds ways to let everyone know that he is a rampant weed smoker. It's not my personal thing (smoking), but I don't care if anyone else does it -- I mean, literally, I don't care. So I always find it boring when he gets on his weed soapbox to, once again, find some way to let us know that he smokes. Yawn. We also know that he likes his alcohol. Again, not my thing, but it doesn't affect me if he does it. I just wonder why he always feels the need to kind of slide in comments about his drinking and smoking, because it does seem a bit high school-ish. All in all, compared to some other people out there in the world, I think Andy could be considered a good catch and could certainly find a man to seriously get involved with. So I am guessing he either just doesn't want a serious relationship, or he is meeting people who are opportunists / idiots / losers, etc. 1 Link to comment

heebiejeebie June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 Andy Cohen is a good catch ( as in actual relationship material and not a whore bank for some underwear model du jour or a tablodi cover seeking same level "celebrity" in the same world that Kim Kardashian is a "star", Donald Trump is the poster boy for sexy hair and Lindsey Lohan is the poster girl for work ethics. From his own mean spirited childish fame whore gobsmacking awe of anyone who gets bold print on Page Six, I'm guessing the misogynistic idiot is hoping Anderson Cooper or someone else both famous and considered a hot catch will step away from the mirror and the too small Prada tees and into Cock-Eye's arms and onto the cover story of People magazine. As a gay man who is incredibly shallow, I'd sooner make Rick Santorum's worst fears come true and marry an animal than get with this tool and fool. Just another example of how much luck plays into success and little to no skill or true talent. 7 Link to comment

I wish Andy would do games, say, every other night or so. Or pick and choose specific, really upbeat guests to do the games with. It's not just you. The games have gotten old, mainly because they have run out of ideas for good ones and so many of them are just ridiculous in concept -- or the guests who are playing the games are bad guests to begin with and are not really into whatever it happening. (For example, the Housewives-oriented game that was just played with Stanley Tucci and Joel McHale was horrible.) Every so often Andy will bring back one of the better games -- though I can't even think of one at the moment -- and have a good guest to play it, so it turns out to be entertaining. Usually, though, that is not the case. Plead the 5th was a great idea -- and could be again, someday -- but it started to tank when Andy would let the guests get off the hook too easily so they wouldn't have to really answer anything. Every now and then we will all get lucky and the guest who is answering the questions will actually say something interesting, and not try to dodge the issue. Sometimes it could be a guest that we don't expect will be too forthcoming -- and that person will suddenly become interesting because they actually answered the questions in a real way. Other guests barely have a chance to get a word out during the whole show because Andy is too hyper. There are so many publicists, agents, lawyers and general hangers on who advise the guests to not answer questions, I think, and that has ruined Plead the 5th too. No one can answer in an uninhibited way because there is so much fear of lawsuits or press nightmares or whatever. I just wish Andy would calm down and stop rushing, because when he happens to strike gold and stumble upon a decent, open guest who seems like he/she might be willing to talk about various things, Andy suddenly jumps in and has to start the game of the night, or remind everyone of the secret word or whatever nonsense. All of that crap should be saved for the nights when he has guests who are duds. If the guest is a snoozefest, then trot out the games and the drinking word and all of that mess. But if the guest seems ready and willing to have a conversation, save the games for another night and don't interrupt the flow. Edited June 26, 2014 by Sherry67 3 Link to comment

DrivingSideways June 27, 2014 Share June 27, 2014 I hate Andy, my partner loves him. He can be very charming and is a snappy dresser, but he is such a shameless self promoter that I can't handle it. I hate it when he needs to insert him into the game, or play the game with a guest while the third guest sits out. Last night was Mark Ruffalo versus Andy Cohen, because everybody says they are twins (they do?) and it was just an excuse for Andy to show a bunch of pictures of himself. Stuff like this makes me throw my booze tumbler at the screen, but my partner thinks it's high-larious. Regarding his dating, my partner follows him on Instagram and for a minute he was posting pics of some dude over and over again so I assumed it was his boo. Haven't seen him in a while. Mostly been replaced by dog pics. I guess he got dumped and is transferring his love to that dog. I'm a dog OBSESSIVE and that dog irks the shit out of me, mainly because he just wanders aimlessly around the set. Two things I hated: John Oliver. Not nearly as funny and charming as he thought he was, and he was unnecessarily dismissive of Gary Oldman without knowing the first thing about his comments. You're a 'newsman' John, at least inform yourself on what Gary said before saying no one should listen to him anyway. And last night Andy showed a pic of a man who bought a Game of Thrones chair (which I will admit, is lame) and then mocked his sandals. Just a random person whose pic went viral. I thought that was incredibly bitchy and a real window into the kind of person Andy is at heart. 2 Link to comment
Katmai June 27, 2014 Share June 27, 2014 I'm not a fan of Joel McHale, yet I do watch The Soup. I loved how he kept Andy almost "punch drunk" with his barbs coming from all over the place. It was funny how his answers and comments were dripping with snark and sarcasm, yet most of the time you could almost literally see them go over Andy's head. Due to Andy always thinking he's the funniest/snarkiest/awesome-est ever, I enjoyed seeing Joel keep him off-kilter. Don't insult Mark Ruffalo by saying he and Andy are "twins." Not in your wildest dreams, Andy. 2 Link to comment
LNDNgirl June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 Andy's mom (Evelyn?) was behind the bar for two consecutive nights this week. Why, why, why?? They happened to be the only two nights I could catch this week too. First night she was on with two of her bridge friends, and the second night with Andy's dad. When they appear on this show, they get too involved with the guests, interrupt the natural flow of the show, and ruin the mood quite frankly. I'd be fine with not seeing either on them on the show, in any capacity, again. 1 Link to comment

It seems like Andy wants to ask the controversial questions at Reunions, but often stops short or won't press an issue because I think ultimately he generally wants people to like him. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but, as Leah said, you really need a "bad cop" at the Reunions if you want to get to the bottom of some of the issues. And I love The King of Queens also. I still watch it probably 3 or 4 nights a week -- I put it on, set the sleep timer on the TV, and fall asleep to it. I know that I'm not going to want to miss the ending, so I usually set it to record on the DVR at the same time. :-) John Legend sometimes irks me, but he didn't last night -- he was pretty low-key. There was something about Taye Diggs that annoyed me though. I think it was how pissed he got about the caller asking if he was going to get back together with Idina Menzel...for some reason the way he reacted really rubbed me the wrong way. 1 Link to comment

MMLEsq July 16, 2014 Share July 16, 2014 I loved Taye Diggs getting the call about Idina...."Don't you screen these calls?????" I thought there was a post here on PTV from someone who had called into WWHL a couple of times. I can't find it here though, so maybe it's in another Forum (which is possible -- maybe one of the HW Forums). Anyway the person said that you have to give your phone number and they call you back and go over exactly what question you are going to ask. It's pretty clear watching the show that they've prescreened calls because, if there's more than one guest, they will generally try to balance the calls between the guests. Anyway, the bottom line is not only are they screening calls, they're picking callers who make it through to the show specifically based on the questions they're going to ask. The person also said that they immediately hang up on you after you've asked your question -- no goodbye, no thanks for calling, nothing. There used to be a kid that would call in all the time -- he was about 13 or so. I wonder what happened to him? 1 Link to comment
