Telling someone your favorite place to be kissed?  Too uncomfortable.

Eating a burger the size of your own head in front of someone who doesn't have any food of their own?  Just right.

Wasn't she yammering on about being a vegan on the honeymoon?

I was thinking that about the fish also. However, I looked at them closely and it seems what they ended up with were not Beta. But I am not sure and will have to look again.

And will someone, in the name of sweet tap-dancing Jesus please tell me why that huge antique cash register in on the kitchen counter? So incongruous among the other antiques and collectibles in the house, which seem to be mostly art glass and porcelain. Fine if you like in old store fixtures and want to display them, knock yourself out, but why take up valuable real estate in the kitchen? Maybe Ashley is keeping a running tally of the smiles and kind words she doles out to David?

David and Neil will not suffer for lack of female attention once this shit show is over, at least.

Just realized this thread is "Intimacy Part 1".

Don't tell me next week is Intimacy Part 2 because this is ZERO Intimacy!

This episode was so fucking boring. The season should be 5 episodes max. The fake suspense and drama are irritating.

Can some please send this to the show?  This season is making season 2 seems good!

They looked like female bettas.

Has Ashley never seen this damn show? She had to have realized that she was going to have to talk about some of this stuff on camera, right? There were definitely ways she could have answered some of those questions in a cute or funny or snarky way (Kansas City Twister legit made me LOL) to at least, you know, put a modicum of effort into this stupid social experiment that she willingly signed up for!

They did look like female betas, but seeing as how the pet store keeps them separate, I wouldn't take the chance on dumping two into the same bowl together! Next week's ep will start with a black screen announcing the death of their fish, along with David's dreams of love.

David gave her an out, too, by saying "Arizona". She could have said "at the top of the ferris wheel" or "at the new year's fireworks". But our Ash is so utterly lacking in humor or spontaneity she can only focus on how "uncomfortable" she is.

No one is living in any of those shared houses. No books, no magazines, no stuff around. No one's thrown a coat over a chair or taken off a backpack. there's no mail on the hall table and no pictures on the wall. Neil and Sam apparently don't even have glasses.

David puts forth effort to make a nice dinner for Ashley, who is 3 hrs. late (guess they don't have cell phones in this show), because he appeared to be sitting at the table like a forlorn little puppy waiting and waiting. She comes home , is completely unimpressed, then later on as an afterthought  pulls out a beat up old cupcake out of her backpack to give him. Oh, I have a gift for you.  Priceless! You bitch!

Two weeks left of this experiment and Sam and Neil have to move? House with the pool is not up to Sams standards.  And they wind up at Sams place? Now she has full control again. I know, I know, she says she doesn't want control but we all know that is exactly what she wants. Why in hell would Neil ever agree to that? I'm a little mad at him for giving in.

I really like Vanessa. She is the only one who is trying. Yes, she has a few hangups but she knows it and wants to work on it. I almost feel like she's too good for Trey. She doesn't mind at all having people over for dinner, cooking, entertaining. Unlike the other two cold fish bitches who have not done ONE NICE THING for their husbands.

Oh, and for the record, I don't think Ashley has ever had one, earth shattering orgasm, ever.  She needs to let it happen,  it might just change her life.

Again, y is Ashley on this show.  David has SO much patience. He could do ten times better than Ashley. Sometimes I'm not even sure she's still breathing. She sucks the fun out of everything. I am an introvert. The idea of a huge party with David's friends sounded like hell to me too but I do know how to be kind, laugh and smile and show compassion. Ashley seems totally lacking of any normal human emotion. She just sits and stares. I can not see her being a good nurse. The fishbowl thing- just make something up, keep it rated G. She is totally disgusted by David, can not stand him. I don't get it. He is trying so hard to connect with her and she is giving  him....... nothing, nada. Tres and Vanessa seem fine this week. At least they enjoy each other's company. Sam is still gross and Neil deserves so much better! I feel bad for these seemingly nice guys who have a lot to offer and actually seem into the concept of making this experiment work. Its as though the show was trying to balance out the Sean and basement Ryan and ragey Ryan of last season. All three guys had NO interest in even being in a committed relationship much less a marriage. So they snag two guys who are at least into the concept but totally ruin it by pairing them with two of the worst women they could find. How could the "experts" miss Ashley's cold fish antisocial personality or her commitment issues or her total lack of a personality!!!! How could they miss Sam's psychotic personality traits, immature behavior and crazy eyes? Neither of those women want a boyfriend much less a hubby.

Tres (in appearance) reminds me a little boy. Probably why I do not find him attractive. I feel for Vanessa because I think she is taking this thing very seriously and did want to get married. However Tres has one foot still in the frat house. He wants to woo the ladies, bang as many as possible and drink til he's black out drunk. Not exactly husband material.

IMO Ashley was open to the process until she found out they paired her with David. She clearly finds nothing about him attractive lol Not even enough to fake the funk. The situation is just a sad one :(

When Ashley walked in the house, she greeted the dog, but not her husband.  I am calling it, Ashley is there for the $$$$ and nothing else.  She probably has a boyfriend and has told him that she'd doing this to pay for school; boyfriend said, "fine, just don't get physical with the guy," and that's what she's doing, she's waiting for it all to be over so she can get back to her boyfriend.

Now, to Ashley's credit, I am exactly the same way; when I meet a man I'm NOT attracted to, I'm just not attracted, there's no two ways about it, and that's why I'd never sign up for a show called "Married at First Sight."

Vanessa - I know that the whole cameras up your butt and producers asking you dumb questions and stage events must be awkward but please stop all the giggling.  I'm nitpicking but if she is like that in 'real life', it would drive me crazy...and something tells me she isn't

Vanessa is lovely (she reminds me of Kerry Washington), but the giggling is the worst. My 21 year old daughter has the same kind of "nervous laughter" habit/tic, and it drives me fucking nuts. I like her and Trey together. I haven't read spoilers, so I don't get the overwhelming opinion that he's some super duper playboy. Perhaps a tad immature, but definitely workable! I'm rooting for them - I'd watch their spin off show.

WHO told Sam she looks smokin' in those god awful shorts? They're all wrong for her Spongebob body type - and those nasty, unshapely legs? Ugh. She's a certified lunatic. Neil should be sainted after this experiment.

Ashley - I think her brain wiring is off. Something is not right. Maybe developmental. Introvert my ass, she's trying to act how she thinks a human should act. To call her a sociopath would be giving her too much credit; she doesn't have the social intelligence. Great job, experts. I hope they offer therapy for David after the show.

Ashley...she is beyond hope at this point.

As for Sam...how do I put this...I don't want to be a huge asshole. Lord knows I have had my struggles with my body. I have been slim and hot, and...not. Currently not. So I'm not judging Sam for being a bit on the less-toned side. She isn't necessarily fat, just doughy, as someone else said. I cannot understand why she persists in wearing the shortest, tightest Daisy Dukes on planet Earth every time she is on camera, and then to pull up her tank top to reveal her completely unremarkable stomach? Lady, you are ON TELEVISION. The camera adds ten pounds. You are 30 years old, so it's not like you can claim youthful ignorance. Like I said, I'm not hating on having a softer body, but she just really, really wants to show it off, and in really unflattering ways. (Of course, I'm of the belief that there aren't many women who can pull off short-shorts, even if they have great legs.)

This doesn't apply to Tres and Vanessa -- and I'm probably giving the experts too much credit -- but given last season's disastrous guys, it seems like they bent over backwards to cast humble, sincere men this time. They then deliberately chose average looking women, figuring that they would not be appalled/angry at being matched with average looking men. If that's what they were going for it didn't work AT ALL of course, but that might have factored into why they chose weird Sam and uncaring Ashley out of a large pool of more suitable female applicants.

It just occurred to me that I think Ashley was purposely 2 hours late  (without even a quick text to David or production) in hopes of avoiding the film crew.  They had just had a little tiff the night before --maybe she didn't want to deal with it on camera-- or maybe she just tries to avoid the production crew period if she can get away with it.     It cost's money for a film crew..  I'm sure she was told when they would be there and she told them about what time she'd be back.so they can film. I'll bet she was hoping they'd get annoyed and pack up and leave.

I was so shocked at Ashley's TH there saying that she has   "sacrificed so much and given up work to focus on school and the marriage because she really wants this and she's willing to make these sacrifices to make it work'     WHAT??  Since WHEN???  So I did a little Talking Head investigation.....

THAT statement was made in her home before the marriage.  She made several statements then-- including  "This could be the best love story ever and it could be mine"    wearing that top and necklace, sitting on her couch,    It truly annoys me how they chop these TH's in --- to make us think she's still "in'?   WAY too late for that!    .  Ashley's curly-hair comment soon after that about   "i know we were matched for a reason and I'm not giving up even though the connection's not really there"  was also said at her home on her couch.

I know they're trying to get a show from this catatonic robot but they made the mistake of casting her so they should suffer with the true results.  This'marriage'  is not only hopeless,   but she's insufferably boring. Deal with it.     It's just too insulting.

In the case of David and Assley, the drama is mostly David going slowly insane as he tries to form a human connection with a robot.

OMG, that is hilarious - and sad all at once - because it's so true!

Ashley: I understand not being attracted to someone, but if she is really so shallow, and if physical attraction is the biggest, most important thing for her in a marriage, then she shouldn't have signed up for this show. David is not unattractive at all, and - unless that outburst on Father's Day was an indication of a temper problem - he seems to have a good personality. Looks will fade, but someone who's supportive and caring and fun to be around will be like that ten, twenty, thirty years down the road, too. I think him cooking a meal for her was such a nice gesture, and she was all 'meh' about it. Not only is she a cold fish, she's rude and uncaring, too.

David: I wish he stopped trying so hard. Being pushy will not work with Ashley. I think being cool and supporting and somehow showcasing his own best features might be a better strategy, though even that might not break through the wall Ashley has put up around herself.

Sam: I agree with others; what's the deal with her micro shorts and especially with her pulling up her t-shirt to expose her stomach? If she's not attracted to Neil, then what the hell is she doing that for? And what was that "little Neil, come be a little noodle," or whatever she was saying? And lying on top of the comforter to supposedly go to sleep? She is so weird. I also agree with others that moving back to her place is not a good idea at all.

Neil: He needs to stand up for himself more. Not only for his own sake, but also to show what a hypocrite Sam is when she says she wants someone to put her in her place. In the next episode's preview he fires back at her, which immediately sends her into a hissy fit. So yeah, that's how she deals with any kind of resistance to her hurtful "jokes." Unfortunately, from that preview it seems like Neil will back down. Sigh.

Vanessa: I like her, and I agree that she's doing great, but I also agree that she should stop with the giggling. It's starting to get on my nerves. And I don't really understand the big deal about the bathroom. Why share if you have more than one? Is that really how you think intimacy will develop?

I don't have much to say about Tres. I'm just waiting to see how he'll behave the rest of the time they are supposed to be together. I did like it, though, that he acknowledged what a gem Vanessa is.

Logan annoys me, too.

I can understand Ashley not being attracted to David, he's kind of like a puppy who is so excited he pees everywhere. But why did she agree to be on the show, did she realize she might not fall in absolute lust with the man they matched her with? She's so private and uncomfortable, why would you agree to a reality show?

I'd like to see a composite drawing of who she expected to be paired with, frankly.

I'm pretty sure Tres and Van are living there together.  Plenty of clothes in the closet, food, utensils etc.

Sam has been using the 'creepy house'  excuse to stay home so Neil is agreeing to move in there (he's a rule follower so will work to play by the rules)  and Ashley and David I can't tell..

I did watch what jennyl said about Ashley looking like she was bagged up and ready to leave, keys in hand.  Dishes were off the table.. It did look like she was heading back out the door, so, I'd say she makes excuses and rarely stays there.

I never noticed Vanessa's giggling until someone here pointed it out, yes she does it a lot.

It's not that David isn't hot, it's that Ashley's not attracted to him, and I'm sorry, but if what the eye sees doesn't get you going, it's hard to fake it; I know I can't fake it, no fucking way in hell can I fake it.

However, Ashley has no business on this show; if you're going on a show like this, you've got a be a good sport about it.  No one's asking her to have sex with David, but at least be considerate.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in one *tiny* piece of potential Ashley defence, David seems like a guy who gets his hopes up really REALLY easily. Look at how excited he gets over the few crumbs of attention she's shown him. It *might* be her way of trying to manage expectations.

It's really hard to listen to the whimper of disappointed puppies, especially when they can't understand why they have to go to their crate after you let them sleep on the bed last time.

It's like groundhog day with David and Ashley. He tries and tries and tries to draw something out of her and she's just giving him nothing. Well aside from a cupcake. How hard is it to answer even one question?! There must have been at least one in that bowl that she could've jokingly replied to. Remember when we were all making excuses for her after she sent those strippers away? Should've just accepted the obvious. I was surprised when she said she only waits two months to spend the night with a guy, I thought it would be closer to two years. Though perhaps spending the night means watching a movie and then sleeping in the same apartment fully clothed.

The look of happiness on poor David's face when he managed to make Ashley laugh in the ferris wheel... So sad. My heart breaks for him. She seems to have decided that David is repulsive and nothing will change that, so she refuses to even try. Which makes me wonder why she doesn't just quit altogether instead of letting David run in circles. Must be in her contract that she can't, otherwise it just makes no sense. Things won't magically change if you do nothing whatsoever to change them.

It was nice to see Sam acting somewhat civil and even complimenting Neil on occasion. That said, I was also baffled by the writhing around on the bed trying to look sexy (good luck with that Sam!) when she clearly wants nothing to do with Neil's manly bits. Or any other bits for that matter. The poor guy still has to balance on the opposite edge of the bed from her! I kind of hope he's doing that by choice now, but I doubt it. Sam's probably hoping he'll make a pass at her just so she can reject him and feel like the prize that she isn't. How hard is it to have at least some physical contact aside from a side hug? I doubt Neil has any fatal illnesses she might catch. At least Jamie started a spooning with a Doug a few nights in and kissed him on the honeymoon already! I can't believe 2/3 couples this season haven't even kissed half-way into the "experiment". It's like watching a bunch of 10-year-olds.

I'm still iffy on Tres, but I want to root for him and Vanessa just because they actually seem to like each other. What a novel and refreshing concept, a married couple who like each other! It was sweet how infatuated he seemed this episode. I hope it lasts. Their bathroom conversation made me smile. And Vanessa's dog is so cute and friendly!

I thought the shared bathroom scene between Tres and Vanessa was really funny.  Tres was cute and sincere in  his confusion over how on earth you'd ever get comfortable enough to poop in front of someone.  And I agree - just because you're married doesn't mean you have to share EVERY experience, especially that one.

When his friend was shocked to hear that Vanessa hadn't yet heard him snore, I thought "yes, because he's not going to bed drunk every night."

It really boggles the mind that Ashley signed up for this show. There HAS to be a major financial incentive because being filmed talking about anything personal, private or about herself seems to mortify her. I would not go on TV because I would be embarrassed so I would just not try out. I am nothing like Ashley in that I can have a conversation but just knowing what it would be like to be followed around by cameras, I could not do it, I am too insecure. Maybe she felt like this was an opportunity to get herself squared away financially. Maybe she felt like it would take the stress out of dating? She seems to hate small talk and getting to know someone so she figured she could fast forward all that. She doesn't sleep with a guy for 3 months- which is fine- but why would you go on a show where you have to develop an intimate relationship quickly ie getting married which presumes you consummate if not the first night, then on the honeymoon or shortly after. If the whole idea of sex with someone you know less than 3 months is revolting...well you have 6 weeks here.. I have never been so baffled about why she 1. tried out for this show and 2. why she was selected over at least 1000 other applicants.

It was my guess that it's the 9 year guy and that's the only relationship she's ever had. They've been on and off for 9 years and, when he found out she got picked to be on the show, he called her. She's late with no real reason and no calls, she doesn't stay overnight, she's distant - exactly like a woman having what is technically still an affair.

I get what you're saying here.  David does run with ANY sign of encouragement at all, in fact he has been hell-bent with about zero encouragement-- so I know what you mean about managing expectations.

The problem is that David thinks he has a chance, so he keeps trying.     I think Ashley  *could* and *should*  put David  out of his misery by telling him honestly and kindly that there is just no spark--it's just NOT going to happen,   but in the meantime lets have fun, laugh, do things etc. and make the best of the six weeks.  It would make it easier on her..but I honestly think there's a sadistic quality in her.  I think it feeds her ego to have him begging her for attention,   and it's becoming subtly abusive to him..

David is too headstrong on just 'being married' and not willing to face his own needs.  I will say at least he expresses his frustration but he refuses to let it go.  He better get some serious help or he's going to be used and abused by some chicky who spends his money, runs him ragged, chews him up and spits him out over and over.

I think Ashley is headstrong, too. She was probably really insistent that she's looking for a lifetime thing and someone who's serious about marriage. Then she displayed all the personality traits that virtually guarantee that a guy won't marry her.

Did you see how Neil made sure he didn't touch any part of Sam when he laid down on the bed, LOL? He's just like an obedient dog. Soon he'll be bringing her the paper in his teeth. And he uses the excuse that the house has a basement for crying out loud and that's why they have to move. Is the basement scary or something? Most people want basements when they buy a house.

I can't even muster up enough energy to half-heartedly rag on Ashley. She thinks she's so clever not doing or saying anything embarrassing on camera, but she's now seeing, in the present, what people really think of her monosyllabic personality. She didn't realize how good she was making David look. Serves her right. She deserves every negative comment she gets.

She reminds me of that other Georgia born dishrag personality named Ashley.....Ashley Wilkes from Gone With the Wind. LOL...and Scarlett fawning over every crumb of attention he meted out. Looks like present day Ashley has turned the tables and David is perpetual also-ran Scarlett.

When Neil told Sam he wanted a wife who was a BF and partner did she actually laugh at him? It looked like she was but trying to cover it up. That's really fucked up if she was.

I also like Tres and Vanessa's friends. They were a pleasant change from the dreary pace of the show.

Hey folks, one more reminder: social media stuff goes in the social media thread. I know some social media posts aren't spoilers, but it's simpler to have an easy to follow rule rather than having people argue about which tweets are spoilery and which aren't - so if you're posting a tweet from a participant, an expert, the family member of a participant, etc, put it in the Social Media thread. Thanks!

After the way the "Experts" pushed the girls last season with those guys, I'm sure David's head could be being filled that it could still work, trust the process and so on by the wannabe puppeteers. Plus the 6 week timeline could be making him more anxious than he'd otherwise be. He's admitted if this were happening to a friend in real life he'd say to move on. Anyway I hope any hits his confidence may have taken from this are being repaired now that the viewers are embracing him. And I really hope Ashley is embarrassed as hell.

When did she say this? I just...don't believe that at all. She just got out of a 9 year relationship a year ago, so the last time she actually dated was probably age 20 or so. Assuming her mother didn't allow her to spend the night with men while she was still a minor. So she would have been dating and presumably spending the night with men from age 18 - 20. It's possible I guess, but I think this chick has been dead inside for a long time. I can't imagine her warming up to anyone in two months. I can't even imagine who in the hell she was in a relationship with for 9 years besides her dog.

I don't know why, but I get this vibe from her too.
