  1. They speak so quickly that watching it with CC on is a must. And even then, it doesn't always get all the convo. But it's better than not being able to hear what they're saying. My ears can't keep up!
  2. Netflix watcher here (just found this the other night and am binge-burning through the eps) - thank you all for your comments here. It makes watching the show more fun (funner?).
  3. YES! Seriously, could he have been shittier if he tried? No love here at all for Philip. All love for the Queen. (And Claire Foy who owned this role with her perfection.)
  4. Just started this last night. Was it just me or did anyone else find the surgery scenes graphic and gratituous? It was jarring to see amidst all the splendor and perhaps that was the point but ugh. I had to look away. Otherwise, quite enjoyed this episode and agree with all that Jared Harris was exemplary.
  5. Both Adam and Michael before him are blandy mcblandersons, IMO. Instead of having someone just waltz(ish) into Jane's life, it would have been fun to see her try to date different and interesting men. But no. Poots. I still think the only one she has chemistry with is Rafael. (Not a 'shipper, just chemically speaking here.) I think I love Rogelio the most of anyone on this show. He's such a goofball but a loveable one.
  6. I liked this show a lot although with some caveats (that seem to be issues with some here as well): I don't care for Elsa's character - I get where she's coming from and have empathy but that whole thing was poorly done and developed. Not a fan of the Sam's friend who was all "Titty parade" etc. He and Sam connected well, I thought, but I wanted to cringe at many things he said. (Made me laugh, though, when Elsa said she gave him her # in case something happened to Sam but mostly he texted her selfies.) LOVED the girlfriend and her reaction to Sam breaking up with her was perfect. I am so glad I don't have kids who would do hideous things highlighting the hideous choices I've made when I was in pain. (Casey's note on the board) I don't know how anyone navigates that. Liked the relationship between Sam and Casey - seemed pretty natural I will for sure tune in next season (is that a definite or just wishful thinking on my part?). Glad I watched this.
  7. What I took from that was Grace is used to shutting down and turning off her emotions and that's what she did. When that happens, it comes out sideways, like her gun issue. Frankie may be an emo mess but most of the time she's out there with how she feels and it doesn't seem to come back to bite her in the ass much. This is going to be a big one for Grace to work through.
  8. Points of interest for me: While I love both Adele and Sade, in no way do they sound similar to my ears. It broke my (admittedly old) heart to hear Sade be mistaken for Adele. I think ASkars is perfect for that role - he's got the coldness needed and he can turn it on and off on a dime. There's a menacing presence he brings out when he wants and I think it works well here. Adam Scott and Reese were perfect in that scene on the porch. Things are said that have no words. Great job on conveying them. Jane really put herself out there going to Renata's. I appreciated her doing that and Renata's response. Having lived with (but not married to) someone who had that hair trigger temper like Perry, it's nerve-wracking. There were times I was sure he was going to injure or kill us both. Just watching that energy on screen throws me into instant revulsion. (I know some of you can relate, sadly.)
  9. What this documentary has done for me is given me a lot more context than I had before. I was 34 when all this went down, watched it all on television and like a lot of people, was stunned by the verdict. I read almost every book that was published on it (even that hideous junk Resnick offered) and yet, I still didn't really grok the context of being black in LA at that particular time. I only knew of OJ as a former football guy who parlayed his gridiron success to the screen but had never seen him in action on the field and how he "wasn't black. He was OJ!" I get it now. Like, I get it. All of this makes sense to me in a way it did not before and I more clearly understand the verdict and almost agree with it based only on what went on in the court room. There's never been one shred of doubt in my mind that OJ killed Nicole and Ron. Never. And I agree with many of you who say that the prosecution did a shit-ass job of presenting a coherent case. The defense tore them up (and oh, Chris Darden, I feel for you. But holy cow. Just. No.) as I would have expected them to do. Did they do their job? Yes. Was it in the most underhanded way possible? Yes. I liked the other series on FX for what it brought to the table (a much more intimate portrait of Marcia Clark and her role) and thought it was well done. Of the two, though, this one really helped me see things that have puzzled me for years and gave me (as I said) context. Also, I had no knowledge ahead of time that there were the close-up wound photos. No words. Just none. I would not be surprised to hear OJ was on some meth-like substance because that was brutal beyond belief.
  10. I have seen him on other shows and he can barely contain his glee over the verdict. He seems to really dig being in the limelight (no shame there) but doesn't give his opinions with any sense of respect for the victims. To him (it seems to me), it was all about who bested whom, what strategy they used (like watching a football game) and how they were able to get OJ off for the murders. I dunno - maybe do your gloating in private and pretend respect? Doesn't seem like his gig.
  11. I watch it on my laptop too and have closed captioning on. Works just fine. :)
  12. You say that just about every episode. :) I predict we'll see you back here when JtV starts back up. You just can't quit her.
  13. That's how I read it, too. Especially when he came by her desk that next day and said they needed to do something big, the look on her face was sheer joyful anticipation and when he said it was about the case, her face changed so fast - like it hardened because she had her hopes up and they were dashed. I think she made the right call on the gloves but the way she presented it to him had a tinge of pissiness to it (and disappointment).
  14. I have a feeling I'm the lone voice here but I really (REALLY) did not find the professor dude hot *at all*. Just bleah. So, happy that she's (looking like she's) back with Michael. Personally, I'd prefer her to find a new dude who doesn't have any weird entanglements and ditch Michael and Raphael.
  15. I feel like the fun has gone out of the show (for me, anyway) in Season 2. It's like they took all the good stuff from S1, amplified it 30000000 times and are running around in circles with it. It's likely me - when I binge-watch something, I'm in that energy flow. When the breaks are month(s) long, I lose the energy and the flow and have to reorient myself to it and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Here, it doesn't. Still, I'll watch because I like them all but it's not the same as it was for me.
