28 is pretty good for the second week. Scores escalate as the season progresses. It wouldn't hold weight in the final six or five, probably.

The scores and vote tallies are now combined. It used to be a straight vote tally with the scores only there to guide the at-home audience until the season after Shannen Doherty - a relatively solid name as far as this show goes and technical talent who was partnered with Mark Ballas, a pro who customarily makes it to mid or endgame - got sent home in the first week.

ETA The effect of the change impacts the mediocre the most IMO. Having the scores in play prevents a terrible performer like Bristol Palin from winning but back when her mama was queen of American politics, she still had enough votes to get to the final three. 

Meanwhile, a true talent with zero name ID like Riker Lynch can make it to the end by scoring.

So the midpack with less celebrity consequently has a harder time.

Well, apparently the Erikas' got the memo about 'smiling' as could be seen tonight on DWTS.  Her segment was kind of creepy given that her son is a police officer. 

She did ok but I'm thinking she's going to be third to go home.  Well, unless Mr. T has a bigger fan base than I think.  On another note, I think the judges were a lot nicer than they were last week (of course with the exception of Len) but the Erickas' are just not that talented and the Erickas' are having a hard time dealing with it. 

I wonder where Mikey and the glam squad are sitting during the show.....

I watched Erika and I am wondering if non-viewers of RHOBH get her message.  Do they think she is rich because she is a successful singer they have never heard of?  Do they get the sexuality thing?  I thought Erika's message was a little confusing.

The makeup she wore for her Nightline interview is the Erika I prefer. Erika is confusing on DWTS - because I'm pretty sure so far she has not mentioned her husband or her son. So I could see for a DWTS viewer who knows nothing about RH - they may think she made her money as a singer.

One of the elements of the show that I think will be problematic for Erika is the seasonal gimmick/motif of a week in which the performers either select a specific song that's important to them personally or a year in which a significant event happened to them and are then assigned a song from said year. The point of this is to generate some warmhearted and/or tearjerker crowd pleasing moments. 

For example, this Disney pop tart danced to a love song that a teen rocker had written for her during their first romance. It's usually even more saccharine and sentimental than this.

We've never seen anything of the ilk from the Erikas.

Maybe it was a deal they had before they got married.  She stuck around for so long and was the doting wife on his arm and then he'd bankroll her dream of being a singing supah stah.  I don't know.  Maybe it's just because she's cold in general, but their relationship just seems more business like than passionate.

Yeah. Erika's problem is that the Erika Jayne team is far too big. She's got a choreographer, makeup artists, hair stylists, a bunch of backup dancers, and custom costumes for everyone. Additionally, she's paying high priced talent to write, produce, and guest on her songs. Yes, her performances look professional, but cost a ton of money to put this together. 

Whereas Kim can't sing, has negligible choreography, and has a bunch of dudes in their underwear randomly thrusting and Erika still ended up opening for Kim.

If Erika's music wasn't so ear-splittingly awful, she's poised to make the jump from housewife who sings to a singer who is a housewife. She needs to tone down the sexy sex stuff. It doesn't come off nearly as empowered or confident as its intended to be. There really needs to more to her than tits and ass. She needs to get better songs. She's not going to get Sia, but maybe someone with some talent and broader song writing experience. Erika also has to put out some slower tempo songs just to show some versatility.

I saw an interview with Tom and Erika where Erika says that she was bored and unfulfilled which is why she created Erika Jayne.  I guess being "first lady of the bar association" was not enough for her.  Anyway, it made me wonder since Tom is around 70, what will happen as he gets even older and may need her to be his primary caregiver.  Will she go MIA like Sonya did on Old Man Morgan??  I think it will be interesting to see what happens.

Probably true.  The Sham Squad can take care of him.  They can put him in some leopard print jammies and serve up grandpa fierceness!  She'd better be sure that he doesn't have the capacity to cut her out of the will first though!  He's sharp and I wouldn't mess with him.

Just watched her first video (Rollercoaster) from 2007.   Cheezy costumes, bad back up dancers, clearly no Glam Squad, bad camera angles.    It's just tacky.  Next one is from 2010 - and you can definitely see she's had some "work" has been done, and back up dancers are now in leather & chains.   But, treat yourself to find the first one - it's a scream.

I had sniffles-precipitated insomnia last night and needed something mindless to occupy my attention so I rewatched some episodes from season six. 

And, wow, the dynamic between Erika and Tom is even weirder and more disturbing than I remembered.

After the dinner at which Tom shushed her while conversing with Kathryn and LVP, Erika  tells Kyle the next day with considerable alarm that he was still "fucking pissed!" at her the next morning because she's "frankly not allowed to do that shit!" or "act like that."

Which was especially odd because Erika was actually pretty composed and gracious by her standards that evening. It's confusing to me that she can't conduct herself in a specific fashion when physically around Tom but curse, stick her fingers in people's faces at charity events, and otherwise behave atrociously in public places on national tv.

I have always found Tom to be an arrogant ass.  The idea her marriage is so much more precious than Dorit's, is just the same line of thinking that the Erikas have to deemed the most fabulous.  I notice Rinna jumped on the bandwagon with anyone disrespecting her husband last season.  Nothing says respect like claiming to use a strap-on on the old guy.

This is the same disjointed thinking the prevails in the Erikas personalities.  Erika was taken back at Bethenny's house when Bethenny was a rude hostess.  Then Erika turned around and yelled in Rinna's face at her BBQ.  Just can't keep track.  I do know Erika has zero in the way of manners and I don't look to her as setting protocol.

 Has anyone brought up the tabloid story about Tom? There are pictures of him at dinner with a blonde woman and witness accounts that they were "very affectionate".  I think it's Star mag..

A local metro PO was killed in a traffic accident a few days ago.

On the way to run an errand this morning I noticed that for 1/2 mile along a nearby parkway, someone had taken the time to tie blue ribbons in every tree and sign posts on BOTH sides of the street.

A bit down the road I thought about EJ and her meltdown  over ED's non-comment about her son.

I wondered how she would react to such a kind show of support from the community?

After all, NO one knows what she goes thru at night?

She must be a time traveler, because it's about 1897 in her house and somewhere in the late 90s to early 10s, depending on which artist she's "borrowing" from (I looked at a few yesterday, and erm, derivative much?)

I remember the conversation w/Kyle the day after the dinner when she said Tom was pissed.   She made it clear that he expects and only tolerates certain behavior.   I wonder if he's at all "concerned" about her behavior this season.   He seems to think her video's are fine - but they draw a certain circle of people, and RHBH draws an entirely different segment - maybe a segment that's more tuned in to his world.  Business partners, their spouses, their kids, neighbors, etc.   What was portrayed as a "hobby" type of thing her first season is turning into this in fact is her life - and her marriage seems to be the hobby.    Her cold fish act has escalated into a performance.   The only time we see her laugh is when she's getting ready w/her glam squad - and that's mostly to talk about how fabulous she'll be and to dis the other women.
