That's the first thing I thought of!  Janelle has zero self-awareness of how contrary her posts are, from her what should be, "health coach" expectations from her subscribers.  She doesn't realize how dopey and clueless she sounds.

I'm clueless about several subjects, but then again, I'm not soaking gullible people $35 a month for stupid shit.  I'm a COL, but I don't profit from that claim.

It's not $35 a month. It's $35 per CALL.

Yeah, been there done that! After DH passed I went through a long hard time not quite knowing what to do. I'd shop and the veggies would wilt in the fridge...I told my therapist that I should just shop and then throw the veggies in the garbage when I got home as that was where they would end up. But I  think I had a pretty good excuse for that at that time...what is Janelle's excuse??

Why is this woman SO obsessed with digestion??? Sure, there are foods that can make you feel like shit (sugar, high fat, a shit ton of carbs), but that has nothing to do with digestion. If something sits in your stomach a long time, that means it is taking a while to, you know, digest. Nothing wrong with that. And yes, there are certain foods that can pass through, looking like it did when it entered her pie hole. The key there is to masticate her food properly so the stomach can break it down easier. If she is bloating (ie. gassy) in her stomach (rather than her intestines), then she has a food intolerance or some type of infection/disease.

She needs to lay off all the weird shit she eats, go back to a basic food diet, throw some probiotics in there and see what happens. If she insists in eating her Rock Star Foods, then add them back one at a time until she discovers what messes with her.

We need to change the name of this thread to "Janelle Brown: Digestion is my Enemy"

I was just going to suggest her looking into probiotics if she has digestive issues.  Plus she should look into foods that really aid digestion, not some of the crap she posts here.  If her gut flora is off that could contribute to her weight issues.  She'll never solve those until she gets her stomach straightened out.  I'm reading that there's a direct correlation from the balance of one's gut flora to one's ability to maintain a healthy weight.  When it's off your digestion is off too and you can hold on to too much fat.  Plus it can also make you hungrier and crave more carbs.  She could also have food sensitivities that contribute to her weight issues, so she should go to a dr. to figure out what they are.  She should also look into bumping up the fiber in her diet, that can only help.

I agree she likely has gut flora issues; it can affect everything from digestion to immune responses and even her weight. You’d think she would have already been to a specialist so she could sort this out.

Yet, she flounders. She rarely sticks with anything. We seem to know more about this topic than she does! What is her damn problem? It’s been years of blubbering about digestion.

She just needs to cut the carbs.  I'm not saying go KETO.  Just reduce her carbs.  I've been diagnosed as Type 2 diabetes.  In 6 days I have lost 5 pounds, just by changing my eating habits, because I want to get off this medicine as soon as possible.  I'm walking at least 10,000 steps everyday and eat more vegetables and lean protein.  It's working, hope to be 30 pounds lighter when I go back for a checkup in 3 months.  Surprisingly I'm not hungry either, despite the fact I'm not eating as many calories.

Unfortunately, I'm thinking that the people who have actually called her probably have similar weight issues as Janelle and are excited at the prospect of a Z-list celeb chatting with them.  As for any useful advice, I can imagine the "usually fairly satisfying" 40-minute phone convo contains a lot of dead air as Janelle looks crap up on Google, pauses to get her peanut-butter Fritos out of the oven, or takes a nap.

This is exactly what I thought when I read about paying for a phone call from Janelle.  She has a script that she reads that lasts 35 minutes...giving you the chance to say something or ask something in the last 5 minutes before "bing!" the 40 minutes are up.  BUT...if you need more from her, or want to ask questions...then...that's another $35 please. 🙂

If the script is written well enough...there will be some great thing that you just really need to know, but geez, we are out of time...

Just like with phone psychics and pay-for-a-cleansing-spell witches, you have something dark stuck to your aura, some kind of evillll. For $300 they can perform a cleansing to save you.  If you fall for that...then they really kick in and drain you dry.  Years ago I had a neighbor who lost her house to a "psychic".  The poor lady was left with nothing and the psychic forced her out of her house, then turned it into a rental.

Well, I am sure it is fairly satisfying for her.   $35 for less than an hour on the phone with someone.   I bet she hangs up on them as soon as the 40 minutes are up--perhaps resulting in a second call.   I  would hate to imagine the advice she gives.

Wow, that's amazing, Pickle, good for you!  I just had a minor setback.  Long story short, I recently took up drinking coffee after being a tea drinker all my life and realized after a while that it was bothering my stomach.  Then I read a few articles online about how a substance in coffee makes some people produce too much stomach acid.  It's not the acid in the coffee because I have no issues with acid, it's that the substance makes ME produce too much acid.  The article recommended drinking very dark roast coffee like espresso or Italian or French roast because the roasting process burns off most of the substance.  So I started drinking that and for the first 3 months I was fine until my stomach suddenly felt like it was on fire!  I have always had an iron stomach and could eat anything without any digestive issues so this was very strange.  Now I don't even know what it is anymore, but I'm still sure it's the coffee.  I've been laying off the coffee and my stomach is on the mend.  I went back to the internet and some sites say that there are any number of substances in coffee that can bother some people.  Weird, right?  Nothing ever bothers me.   Anyway, the point is that it threw my gut off so much that I suddenly gained a few pounds out of nowhere.  And I knew it wasn't from anything I ate or did differently.  So now I have 3 or so pounds to get rid of, all in my stomach - just enough to be annoying....Sounds like time to go back on my old standby diet - Low carb., low calorie, low fat.

She's not competent.

Agreed, she’s incompetent.

I realize this is America and anyone can start a business, but what she’s doing feels deceptive. She has demonstrated doesn’t know anything about nutrition.

How’d she even pass that course for her cert? Why no continuing education? She could have a masters in nutrition by now if she’d taken this seriously. She could have fixed herself right up, been a success and gained a true following and professional respect. She’s had YEARS to do this.

Instead, same old Janelle and in fact, she seems resigned to a life of being fat. How inspirational and empowering, Janelle. “Fake it til you make it” doesn’t work in the wellness industry.

Getting certified doesn't mean competency in the subject. One has to have the aptitude for it. Janelle doesn't.

Look at it this way. She passed the real estate agent certification too...we all saw how that went. @toodles posted about going to one of the open houses and Janelle wouldn't, couldn't engage. One of the homes was her own house and one would think that she would be personally invested enough to whip up some enthusiasm.

She's too phlegmatic. There have been two times in her life where she actually took initiative and followed through on a goal:  divorcing Meri's brother and going after Kody, and when she left with her kids and got her accounting degree and a state job.

The remainder of the time, she's nothing but a whiny doormat.

I had a glimmer of hope for the "old" Janelle when she appeared to be standing her ground over the move to Flagstaff.  She emphatically declared to Kody that she would NOT be removing her kids from their established school routines and herself from her married daughter and grandchild.

Of all the wives, Janelle had the most at stake there but her rally was short-lived and I can't help but wonder what turned the tide and she meekly submitted to what has turned out to be a financial disaster as well as an emotional one.

I don't really watch the show but my thought is that actions speak louder than words. Janelle has always talked a good game and sounded...semi assertive at times, but there's no follow through because (IMO) she's lazy and unmotivated.

All Janelle is, is a big whiner who whines and fobs everything onto other people. That's why Logan couldn't wait to leave the reservation. He might love his mom, but he was tired of being a babysitter and surrogate dad to the other kids.

Good question... I don't recall her explaining other than the "she loves the outdoors and camping etc." that she's always blabbering about.

There must have been something else.

I'm leaning toward creating drama for the show, and making Kootie look like the Grand Poobah that makes all the decisions (when it was Robyn wanting to helicopter-parent Day-un, but I digress.)  Janelle caved much too easily, and cared more about doing what Kootie (Robyn) wanted, than she did about Gabriel.  That pissed me off.  She acted like a wuss.

If a non-quiet gut is her problem, a low FODMAP diet may help.  She'll probably find that many of the "Rock stars" she's been raving about for the past several years are not allowed.  She'll have to start cooking everything from scratch, since take-out and prepared foods often contain foods to avoid.

Yes this is the most sense she has ever made but...if she really had any information about health and had any sense, she would have learned about FODMAPS in that so-called certification she took. Or you know, maybe have seen a doctor.

1. Shut up, Janelle. Every post is an excuse. If you were serious about your nutrition, you’d food prep for the week and make your meals a priority. Yeah, it’s a slight hardship but that’s what has to happen if you’re serious about fixing your health.

2. STOP BEING A POSER. Stop with the Strive already, put that shit on the shelf with the tahini and ginger and whatever other “nutritional rock stars” are collecting dust in there. Just, stop.

3. You’re a middle age woman with weight struggles. You haven’t figured it out. That’s ok. Just please stop charging money for health advice and you’ll look less stupid.

Janelle has some really deep-seated issues with vegetables, for some reason.  It's like she's almost scared of them.  How many of her posts have to do with disgusing/dressing up/drenching fresh vegetables?  What did she feed her kids while they were growing up?  Since none of them have the weight issues that she does, perhaps Christine did most of the cooking?  Something seems off  - well, to be fair, all of her posts are off - but her weird fixation on vegetables is over the top.  I wonder if it has something to do with her mindset that fresh veggies won't fill her up.  Whatever it is, she really and truly needs to find work doing anything else than promoting herself as a health coach.  Her advice is not worth the paper it's written on.

I think she lucked out because she mostly has boys that were encouraged to be physically active (probably by Kody who wants to see a younger version of himself running around).

Maddie is/was an extroverted, outgoing tomboy.

Savannah, unfortunately, appears to be a morose, introverted, stay at home slug like her mom.

ETA none of Kody's biological sons are overweight. But all of his daughters, save Maddie, are.

Thin slices of daikon radish (raw or air-fried) are great low-carb substitutes for crackers to put dips, hummus, liverwurst, etc. on.  It never occurred to me to shred, fry them and then soak them in more oil.

Well, thanks to "Strive With Janelle," you can now turn your fresh radishes into a crunchy, greasy late-night snack!  (Hint: I bet they're even more delish dipped in Hidden Valley Ranch).

I hope she does celery next.  I enjoy it raw but imagine if it were dipped in batter, deep-fried and served with hot fudge or something.

It's been on camera when Janelle was working (back in the original Utah plyg house) Christine was the home mom for everyone.  Janelle left earlier than anyone and so Logan and Christine took over kids/meals etc.  Janelle said something along the line that even she wanders through Christine's kitchen when she is looking for something to eat (even tho it seemed like Janelle's kitchen space may have been the largest of the three). She also gave the plug to polygamy because she never had to worry about her kids for dinner because Christine had it covered etc.

Janelle did make a post at some point where she talked about not liking or not eating many vegetables as a child, so more than likely her upbringing was veggies from a can or covered in a whole lot of something else. She seems to have taken a stance on "as long as I can get these 'good for me' substances into my body, it doesn't matter what my weight is"

I didn't like vegetables when I was a kid either but my palate developed over time. Janelle's palate seems to be stuck at age 9.

Also, I think she's looking for the magic pill. Apparently she's now firmly into the Laxative Phase where she can poop out all the excess weight.

For all his grandstanding, Trainer Sean really tried to change her. But she doesn't want it badly enough to make the changes.

ETA: it doesn't matter who she works with or who coaches her, if JANELLE doesn't want to do the work and make the change, no one can help her.

I think she's been pushed into this role by Kody and Robyn. She's the Fat Chick so she has been assigned the characterization of the one who's into health and fitness just like she was pushed into real estate when they were in Vegas. I really think she'd be happiest if she could just get a regular 8-5 office job where she could blend in with the furniture and drink coffee.

THIS. So much this.

The whole thing is nuts to me—she takes the thing she’s shown zero overall progress with and tries to sell herself as a coach. Even if it’s for tax purposes (which we’ve covered before as possible reason for the continuation of this farce), she makes herself look so damn DUMB.

Totally agree. Janelle needs to be asking for help, not giving it.

ETA—Just saw DakotaJustice response. Did Kody push her into it? I don’t understand why being the fat one would characterize her to be into fitness. She sucked at it. If she didn’t suck at it, she’d be fit.

Prodding her into it hasn’t worked. You’d think they’d all see the futility of it all.

Oh I totally think that she was pushed into it. Janelle doesn't do anything on her own initiative, not much anyway.  The whole fitness thing was purely for plotlines. It all started with the episode right before Robyn birthed Sol, where they all traipsed into a Planet Fitness to be weighed in their battleship grey tracksuits. Of course Janelle weighed the most but all three of the original wives weighed well over 200 lbs at the time. Robyn was almost ready to birth King Sol and I think she weighed like 150 at that time.

It was Kody's idea to start a gym "Fundamentalist Fitness" he wanted to call it. Of course that job was given to Janelle as the one who needed to lose the most weight.

To tell you the truth I thought that she was making real progress with Sean. But the thing is, you can't out-exercise bad eating habits.  I've seen this happen so many times. She lost like 25-30 pounds just because she was increasing her physical activity. Then she hit a plateau. Sean tried to get her to tighten up her diet - even had her talk to a fitness nutrition coach - to no avail.  Anyone who has successfully lost weight can vouch for this: diet is 80%+ of weight loss.

Then a few years ago, she started Strive and managed to get three trainers to join in to lend her credibility. I think it was @toodles who went to the "big launch" which was less than spectacular.

Those trainers ended up wasting a year or more of their time. I'm sure they weren't compensated and probably Kody promised them that they'd be featured on the show just like Sean was. Of course that didn't happen.  The only mention of Strive I remember hearing about was Kody wearing a Strive apron or something. Maybe if Janelle had actually lost noticable weight TLC might have worked it in between the catfish saga and Mariah's coming out.
Also, Janelle has an utter lack of motivation or follow through. At one point she did these FB live videos with some of the Strive trainers and I swear to God, the way she was doing lunges was like a geriatric person or maybe someone on 'my 600 pound life. All the flexibility and stamina she'd developed with Sean was long gone. She did have Savasana down pat. I'll give her that much.

After the trainers left en masse it appears she got together with one of those companies that does your social media for you and revamped the Strive website with pointless blogs and some awful videos which are still on YouTube.

You know, she is nearly 50 if she isn't already.  I would suggest a colonoscopy to get the root of all these digestion issues.  She keeps swinging a dead prairie dog to try and find that rock star food item that is easy on her system.  Time to bring in the professionals Tootie!

You know she went and got a Baconator right after that.

And the Baconator probably settled better. Nothing like trying to be all orthorexic to be popular.
