Leon Brown: So Here's Me

Pallas
Message added by Scarlett45,

Leon is transgender and uses they/them pronouns. As defined in the GLAAD guidelines, they are a they, were a they, and will be a they unless they ever tell us something different.  Per those guidelines, referring to them as a woman or a girl or as she is not okay, regardless of any modifier placed before these words or the time period being discussed.  Referring to them by any name besides "Leon" or "Leo" is not appropriate, regardless of the time period being discussed. Intent matters and people may slip up. Let's strive to respect their identity.

Please review the guidelines of the site regarding the Hate Speech and Insensitive Language Policy, which includes guidelines from GLAAD for the LGBTQ+ community.

Also remember the Golden Rule of Primetimer is Be Civil.

I wonder if they'll be shocked when they discover that you can't get rid of student loans via bankruptcy?  After all, periodic bankruptcy is how their family kept things afloat before TLC.

I feel like we've seen that one before.  Of course, the wardrobes apparently consist of only  skintight black spandex so it's hard to tell one picture from the other.

Do the insides come with black footprints painted on?

Birkenstocks always look like that after the first few wearings, at least all mine do, and I wear Birks almost exclusively. It has nothing to do with dirty feet.

That alone would keep me from buying them!  It's pretty disgusting looking.

Mine don't.  Maybe it depends on which style you buy?

I think all styles have the same suede footbed which turns a shiny brown.  It may depend on how often you wear yours.

Even if that's normal for the shoe, it looks gross, and even if the shoe doesn't smell, it looks like it does. For some reason what makes it even nastier to me is that it's right next to the drink. Blech!

And the filthy sole of one shoe is sitting on the top of the other shoe. Not that I'm germophobic.

My birkenstocks also look like that and they definitely don’t smell. The inside is cork and it is supposed to mold to the wearer’s feet. Most comfortable shoes ever and mine are over 20 years old.  I just don’t take pictures of them. And let’s face it. Any shoes worn outside are going to have dirty bottoms.

That La Croix sparkling water is apparently the "in" thing now. Once again, I smell product placement - hard for me to believe the Browns are touting all of these products by name and picture without some form of compensation.

Well, I just don't know how I could get through the day without this little gem about her hair. Who the hell cares?

Apparently at least 22 people since there are that many comments.

People like Mariah are the reason I rarely visit social media.  No one cares about the minutia in my life.  I certainly don't post about how my hair looks, and I do not care about hers.  How self-absorbed can one be?

Ditto, but for me it's never visit, lol. I knew it was time to get off Facebook when my own beloved family's posts were making me roll my eyes. People can protest all they want, but social media for most people is just pure attention-seeking. I just couldn't anymore with all the cryptic statements, passive-agressive comments, and "shocking" declarations that are posted just to get people to comment. And those that do comment are usually just trying to puff themselves up and seek attention as well.

I think social media has created a very self-centered and self-aggrandizing generation.

I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook.  I have (nor will I ever) taken a selfie and I never post anything about myself.

However, I am one of the admins for a nonprofit with a FB group.  Ir'a  good way to get the word out to a certain age group; we also have a website targeting a different demographic.  We follow the old "eight times, eight ways" mantra to get our message out as much as possible.  I don't consider it self-aggrandizing.  It's free advertising for a good cause and we have used it to reach people across the country and raise money with virtual marathons.

Twitter - no way in hell.

The Browns are just in love with themselves and this sickness is fed by their sycophantic fans.

So you cram the front of a shapeless, baggy shirt into your skin tight pants thus creating an unsightly lump and your adoring fans think that's anazing.

Get off my lawn, you punks.  And put away the damned camera.

A mystery to me as well.  But I'm old too.

"chiset" sent me to the Urban Dictionary for definition.  Elderly,  don't know how to copy and paste, but it seems to be a derogatory term for those that identify with the gender they were born with.  Girl has a giant chip on her shoulder and ATTITUDE>

Pointing your toe in the @tanfrance influenced loafers does not make your thunder thighs and cankles appear any slimmer Mariah.

Wait!  I'm getting the hose.

Do you mean we aren't supposed to do that?  Or are somehow lesser humans because we don't?  I give up.  I can't keep up with this convoluted crap anymore.

Mariah perceives herself as a social justice warrior with a mission to enlighten the ignorant masses.  What she fails to acknowledge is that these battles were fought by brave souls decades ago.

But how is it enlightening to call who identify as male an offensive name?  How does identifying as male make them fragile? And saying white males who identify as such are going to be needing her counseling services?  If I were her adviser and saw my student make a statement like that I would have to wonder if she can be a fair and impartial listener.  She has no business in social work with that attitude.  It's as bad as the social workers who used to push gay men into conversion therapy.

I am seriously confused by that statement.

Isn't she hating on people for their gender and race?  It would seem that she should be accepting of all people regardless of their characteristics, just like she expects to be accepted.

I don't understand either.

Mariah strikes me as one of those people that are ok to call out someone using a shitty remark. I agree she is hating on gender and race.  She is also one to throw a big ole ' pity party if she gets negative comments.  She is her mother's daughter.  Quit yer bitchin' and step out of a public life if you don't like the blowback.  You don't get it both ways

She threw out onto social media a really cryptic and nasty comment with no context. It serves no purpose. If she had written a brief description about what led her to believe she will have a good practice due to white cis men, that would be more informative, show more thought-process on her part and show more maturity. Too much to ask of a Brown spawn, despite her efforts to improve herself. It's like we saw a brief period of growth and maturity with Mariah, and now she is backsliding.

It's like she ordered it online but decided she didn't like the color and the fit so she's returning it for a full refund.

Her shoulders are way off in that Loyola photo; one is much higher.

Maybe the shoulders are off because she is standing with one toe pointed (as she usually does).

Her eyebrows are off, too.

Yes, is she saying all white hetero cis men are fragile in their masculinity and are homophobic?  So weird and not nice.  I'm sure she's dealt with assholes, but this is nonsense to me.  What about her dad and brothers.  Does she find them horrible, too?  There are plenty of people of all kinds who support LGBTQ+ rights and are wonderful people who have helped their cause.  She should be clear and not paint whole groups with the same brush.

I would think her Loyola professors would not be happy to see something like that posted in social media.  And it's standard practice for employers to look at the social media accounts for perspective new hires.  Would you hire someone who posted that message into a social work position?  I sure wouldn't!

I would not hire her to work with me in my shoe store

Wait!  I'm getting the hose.

I was just getting ready to write almost this exact post!  You know, I applaud that Mariah has found herself, someone to love and is truly happy.  That said, Mariah, don't be a jerk to those not like you.  Oh and Mariah, you are not the 1st person to come out.  You also are not the 1st Mormon to come out.  But you may be the 1st Mormon to come out and wear those eyebrows.  Jus sayin'

An abbreviation of cisgendered (opposite of "transgender") heterosexual: a person that identifies as the sex they were born as and are attracted to the opposite. Mostly used in social justice circles as an ad hominem attack to people who have to audacity to be born identifying with their birth gender and have an opinion different than theirs/zheirs/xirs.

If you are getting the hose, can you shoot it my way?  I am feeling a hot flash coming on.

Bless her heart.  She may be blazing her own trail but she is not the 1st trailblazer.  Her attitude does need an adjustment and what career is she talking about having?  Right now she is a student.  She WILL have a career but presently she is a student.
