wonderwoman February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) "(wipes eyes) Well, Lady Gaga has oficially knocked the smartass out of me." Me too. And then Julie Andrews came out... Edited February 23, 2015 by wonderwoman 4 Link to comment
aradia22 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I too cried when Ms. Andrews stepped out. What a lovely, lovely human being (I don't know her in real life, but I just figure she's gotta be a saint). I'm hoping she eventually comes back to Broadway for A Little Night Music or something (not a big singing part). 2 Link to comment
Fostersmom February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 The teary eyed thing is what T. Howard does when he wants the world to know he "cares." Did some the same thing on the late unlamented L & O LA. Does he get that teary eye thing when he beats his wives and girlfriends too? 12 Link to comment
Chrissytd February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) HOW many more awards are to come? Have they done best actor/actress yet? Just got home on West Coast. This has another half-hour, I'll bet. They haven't done Best Actor, Best Actress, Screenplay, Director, and Best Picture. Edited February 23, 2015 by Chrissytd Link to comment
CherryMalotte February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Well, we've got six left now. Nice to see Alexandre win, I'm not a score geek but I tend to like his. Link to comment
ByaNose February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) After, Gaga was done singing and the crowd jumped to their feet I think she realized she has ARRIVED! She looked totally overwhelmed by the response and then hugged Jullie Andrews for dear life & admiration. That said, Gaga had a hard time with that dress. I think she was grabbing it too high to get the full affect of the dress to twirl it & couldn't stop herself. All in all, I think she might get the most buzz tomorrow. A star was born......again! aradia22 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Speechless has been my favorite Gaga song since I heard it. I've been waiting for her to drop the gimmicks and the dance music for a while but I didn't go along for the Tony Bennett thing because I just don't like Tony Bennett. I didn't even like him when he was young. 2 Link to comment
reggiejax February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Oscars have always been tough for hosts that aren't film people. Johnny Carson was a great host for many years. Of course Carson relied on his considerable skill as a host and comedian, and not on the flimsy foundation of being a former kid star who grew up to say dirty things. I really do hate Neil Patrick Harris, don't I? Link to comment

CPP83 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Julie just needs to take over hosting duties for the remainder of the evening. She is the very height of class and sophistication and grace and beauty and talent and humbleness. She is a queen in her own right, and any sighting of her is like a ray of sunshine or a welcome rainbow of joy that thrills me in a way very few ever have or will. 11 Link to comment

aradia22 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Are we sure that Grand Budapest is out of the running for Best Picture? I know director and best picture usually go together but I don't know if Birdman and Boyhood have that much support, at least at the Oscars. Link to comment

CherryMalotte February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) I guess I'm a bitter kitten, because I'd much rather have them do a 75th honor for films like Rebecca, The Great Dictator, and The Philadelphia Story. Rather surprised, I thought GBH would get Best Original Screenplay. Congrats to Imitation as well, that's the only Oscar it's going to see. ETA - This champagne color dress that Oprah has on is really pretty, but it looks different under the natural lighting and then the lighting of the show. I like it much better on the show. She looked totally overwhelmed by the response and then hugged Jullie Andrews for dear life & admiration. Indeed. I think everyone is so used to her with the over the top stunts and theatrics that when she strips it down and lays it down (her acoustic version of Poker Face is simply amazing) people are stunned. I'm glad she had the chance to prove herself that she can do it. I just wish her fiance was there to watch her do it. 10 Link to comment

Yes, but if they dared to give her the cold reception they're giving NPH, we would have to murder them and that's a lot of people to murder. 3 Link to comment

Fostersmom February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 This show is never going to end. I just adjusted my DVR to record the Jimmy Kimmel show for 2 hours after it's scheduled time instead of the 1 I originally had it. Michael Keaton needs to spit out his gum... That seems to be his new thing and it's kinda annoying. Link to comment

FormerMod-a1 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I'm back. I did flip channels to watch some Stargate though. Regarding Michael Keaton and gum... he's been doing that his whole career/probably life. I remember that from the 80s. It's nothing new. 2 Link to comment

thuganomics85 February 23, 2015 Author Share February 23, 2015 Drat. Hoping for a Whiplash upset, but I figured it would be The Imitation Game. Ha! They sat Graham Moore behind J.K. Simmons, and while Simmons was clapping, he had a bit of a "Not my tempo!" look on his face. 1 Link to comment

thuganomics85 February 23, 2015 Author Share February 23, 2015 Well, now I feel a bit guilty for rooting for Whiplash. Great speech from Moore. They're really going to make Ben Affleck present Best Director, after that time he got snubbed? Now, that's just funny. 3 Link to comment
