I liked her fairly well until she got married.   She is a semi-famous z-list celeb whose life has been on tv for over a decade.   I think Evie's birth and disability may have shaken her faith a little and I also think she may be freaking out about how her five parents are acting on the show for the past few seasons.

years ago Maddie was my favorite because she seemed to have ambition and dreams of making something of her life, getting an education and she actually seemed more mature than snowflake Mariah but wow lately she's either shilling snake oil on instagram or bitching and lecturing anyone who asks about her kids.

I really think something is going on with her and she isn't as pleased with her life as she wants everyone to believe.

Caleb travels for his work and is out of town a lot and she's stuck in her house with 2 children that have health issues and no family near to help carry some of the load.

Someone in the episode thread said that Maddie's first child has autism. Is that confirmed? I don't recall reading that.

I haven't heard that, but she has said that he has Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS),  a speech disorder in which a child's brain has difficulty coordinating the complex oral movements needed to create sounds into syllables, syllables into words, and words into phrases.

As far as Axel, it always pissed me off that Maddie would comment about his lack of smiling.

The reason:

Other non-speech “soft signs” that may be present include:

Impaired volitional oral movements (oral apraxia)

Difficulty with volitional “smiling” “kissing” “puckering”

Maddie and Janelle stated both kids were using Plexus. Guess the gut health proclamation is out the window!

Yes, she wanted to go to law school and be a SCOTUS justice.   She did well to start a new high school as a sophomore and then end up as Student Council/Body president her senior year.

Mykelti wanted to be a fashion designer and now she shills Lularags.

Mariah was going to be a doctor and then a physician's assistant.

I just rewatched that episode recently. I've gotta say - I think the designer she showed them to handled it very well because yeah - I drew outfits like that when I was like 10.

She really is. And I suspect this is the reason Maddie dyes her hair this unflattering dark color. She looked so much better when she was blonde. But then  again, she would be Janelle's twin.

Maddie did an Instagram story where she explained what she is studying. She said she was doing biology prerequisites now, and then in the fall she will apply to nursing school.

It would be interesting to see if Ysabel will move in with them and help with childcare for the children when Maddie is in class because Caleb is so often out of town.   She was interested in East Carolina Univ--one or two of my cousins are alums-- and I would guess this is where Maddie would apply to the nursing school.   Janelle's daughter has 2 more years of high school so I doubt Janelle is ready to move.  Of course, considering Kody's love of Caleb, I wouldn't be too surprised to see him decide to move the family to NC.  Actually, I would be surprised, but..

I don't normally think a gap year of child care is a great idea, but it might be enough to get Ysabel in-state tuition.

She hasn't exhibited much stick-to-it-iveness in the past, so I wonder if Maddie is up for the 4-yr BN program at East Carolina.  She may go for a 2-yr LPN or vocational nurse training at Beaufort or Pitt Community College.

Plus having two special needs kids at home.  How can she even take a normal schedule of classes?  It will take her forever to finish.

I went to nursing school while teaching elementary school, but already had my BS degree.  But I don't see how she will do it with 2 kids that need extra care.  Nursing school, at any level, is not for the feint of heart.  It takes a lot of work.  Not just studying, but clinicals at all hours.  And the schedule changes each semester, so a routine for the kids would be hard. All I did was teach, study, and hope to get to sleep for the duration.  I wish her all the best and much luck.

I was actually horrified that her parents as they were about to enter the studio noticed a stain on her dress, and she said something to the effect she was aware of it.   Who wears a stained dress to meet a fashion designer?    I guess it is possible she didn't notice it until they were in the car, but I would think she would be more concerned about it.

Back in season one, Logan was the one who got Savannah up and cared for her in the morning. At the time, I found it a little odd that the only other girl in their household didn’t take on this responsibility.  Madison is no Aspyn or Logan, that’s for sure.

Agree.  My niece got her associate in science first, having a baby sometime during that two years.  She then went onto nursing school, but had her husband and parents who helped with her child.  She said it was hard and the studying for the exam and state exam took several weeks and she wouldn't have been able to do it without them caring for her son that last few months.    She was able to bridge to her RN later.  I believe she has started her classes for NP, her son is a teenager now.

Most of the girls look better with their natural blonde hair color. I’m still startled at how cute Mariah was in season one.

It's really nice seeing these 2nd gen Brown uncles (Hunter and Paedon) spend 1 on 1 time with their baby nieces, which makes me wonder:

Do any of the Brown kids have  close relationships with siblings from another mother, as adults?  Or are they more like cousins as best?  Would we ever see Hunter cuddling with Mykelti's Avalon, for example?  I'm just really curious about the dynamics between adult children of polygamous relationships.  And then if I layer Robyn's original 3 in, that makes me even more curious.

Janelle's Hunter was making planter boxes with Christine's Truely which was nice since Robyn wasn't letting her play with Sol, the closest in age to her, even though they have a large lot and plenty of room to social distance.

At one point Maddie and Caleb were okay with Ysabel wanting to stay with them and go to college in NC.   It is also possible that they want her just as much for a babysitter as she was super-bonded with Axel.  I think Mariah will make an effort to stay close to some of them

I recall one of Janelle's sons being severely chastised for correcting Sol when he was about 3yo and his behavior was getting out of hand.  I guess they were just supposed to stand by and let him act up until Robyn noticed and did something about it.

It was Garrison, IIRC.  He said that Sol would become a narcissist.  Ironic, considering that Kootie fits that description.  Shade on Dad, perhaps?  😁

I think that was Garrison with Truely, but yes it was nice to see somebody giving special attention to Truely.  It always seems like she gets the short end of the stick.
