I hope it was FD's decision.  I'm increasingly getting a feeling it wasn't, though.  Usually they say if it was an actor's choice in the exit announcements, don't they?  And there's nothing, except that in Deadline's reporting, they said:

The 24-year-old Drameh tweeted a message to fans last night, reassuring them that he’s fine with the latest development. “I’m ready to switch it up on em. It’s almost chapter 25. The best is yet to come.”

Hmm, yeah that sounds like trying to put a good spin on something he didn't want to happen, kinda like KC's "change is good" (paraphrase) when she learned LL was in the grave in S4. But why would they dedicate 7 episodes worth of storyline to separating them and proving Jax could be a hero without powers if they were going to exit him anyway. If KL is filming for LOT this gives more credence to the fact that they decided to move him over on a more permanent basis, especially as Wally is also an engineer. If that's true it sucks, I like Wally but I way prefer Jax and his bonds with Sara and the rest.

Ok, well that doesn't sound good. Even if Victor wanted off, I don't know why Jax couldn't be Firestorm on his own that happened in the comics. I wanted Jax and Wally on together, since they are close in age and like cars they might've been friends.

I don't get it either. :(

I have no clue why they would spend so much time showing Jax that he could still be a hero without Firestorm, and then just write him off. It really sucks, and it’s the one thing really hurting my LoT buzz. I mean, I could get him leaving for awhile, but forever?

Yeah, same.   I don't want to be down about the show, or resent whoever ends up replacing him (Wally, I'm guessing at this point), but......... :(

This was sort of how I felt when Stein died. People told me that it was part of typical TV storytelling, but I think it sucks that they set us up for 7 episodes just to take Jax away too.

Franz is listed as a regular throughout the rest of the current season, so he's getting his full salary.  I also recall on Arrow when Katie Cassidy "left the show" only to return in the recurring role of Black Siren - a role that has been bumped back up to regular status in this current season.  My own bet is that Franz is leaving for the rest of this season to make room for Wentworth Miller as Leo Snart to say his last goodbye.  Next season, who knows?  Maybe Jax will get the Earth Totem or re-become Firestorm or some other damned thing.

One thing I do like about the current roster is that almost no one has any intrinsic superpowers.  Steel is the only one left whose super-abilities aren't on some level "equipment based."

It still sucks, and imo is crappy storytelling. I don't care who is still getting their full salary or precedence set in other shows for returning/recurring actors. Are you really telling me that there is not enough room on the Waverider for Jax & Snart? Because that is something I just can't believe. The writers chose the easy way out and cut Jax from the storyline.

It might be an easy way out, but it's an appropriate one.  Jax has spent the last several years sharing his headspace with another person - and now that connection is gone.  The closest physical approximation to that is losing a limb.  Jax needs to mourn Stein.  He also need to relearn how to live alone in his own head.  Oh, and also figure out who he is and what he wants now that he's no longer part of a nuclear superhero.  That's the kind of thing that requires quiet introspection, not a pursuing a crusade against some kind of demongod and his supervillain minions.

It's possible that Franz has something new in the offing.  Even if he doesn't, LoT made sure that he in the last few episode he really got to show off and showcase his talent, which will likely help him land some good gigs in the future.

Apparently they can compete without their flag.

With DVR's and streaming they probably think people can watch both.

It's because of the doping scandal.  Some Russian athletes can compete, but only if they are invited, and those athletes will wear neutral uniforms.  Neither the Russian flag nor anthem will be on display anywhere in the 2018 Games.

Who knew the IOC still had teeth?

It's sad. I will miss Jax. We only have 3 original cast members now. I know they warned us about the revolving cast but it still hurts losing beloved characters. And it makes me worry even more about the 3 we have left.

Maybe with Snart and Stein gone they feel they have to reestablish a connection with The Flash. As long as we don't get Ralph Dibny I can deal with that. I wish we could have Jax and Wally. They are pretty similar characters (and I don't mean their skin colors) but Nate was super super similar to Ray for a while. They can make it work.

Stein wanting to go home to be with his family was code for he's going to die in tv tropes. That's how it was set up. Jax leaving on the other hand wasn't set up. His side of the story was separating Firestorm so he could be on his own.  Jax leaving was code for they don't know what to do with his character anymore or they want to bring in another character.

We're down to 3 of the originals left. It does look they are slowly going where they originally intended the show to go. Having a different cast every season.

I still hold out hope that Jax will come back at some point, even if its just to visit. It is kind of funny how we seem to be getting closer to the original idea for the show (a rotating cast that changes every season) with only three of the original cast still around now, and I dont know how I feel about that. I really love our main cast, but I've also enjoyed the new characters they've added, and I would like seeing some underused characters that have potential in the Arrowverse getting the Legends treatment. I mean, theres a reason I've referred to the show as the official rehab of the Arrowverse, taking characters that need work and making them awesome. I mean, there was a time where I hated Ray (like, I couldn't stand him when he was first introduced!) thought Jax was as interesting as a block of wood, and just put up with Mick because it meant we got Snart. Oh how times have changed! I honestly cant imagine not loving any of those guys to death now, thats the power of Legends!

Like, I heard that Wally might end up being the next new new team member, and while Wally is alright, I always felt he had potential as a character on The Flash as opposed to being a really good character, so I am interested in seeing what they do with him, if thats the route they decide to take. So, yeah. I love meeting new people, but I love the dorks we have already damn it! Its a conundrum!

But they never said they'd have a new cast every season. That was a misconception passed around as fact. MG has said multiple times that they'd never change up more than a few people every season.

So far, most departures were the actors choice. Since Kendra, Jax is the first departure not actors choice.

I don't think Lotz, Purcell, or Routh will ever leave unless they want to.

I certainly hope not. :(  I don't really have any fear for CL, but I do worry that DP or BR might eventually decide to move on, especially DP.

More info on Legends time change:

http://tvline.com/2017/12/08/legends-of-tomorrow-season-3-return-date-supergirl-time-slot-mondays/

The CW has announced that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will resume Season 3 on Monday, Feb. 12 at 8/7c, where it will finish up its season with nine straight episodes (landing its finale on April 9).

Supergirl will then swoop back into its Monday home starting April 16, and air all-new episodes straight through to its own season finale, which will now air outside of May sweeps on June 18.

All told, that adds up to 23 straight weeks of original Supergirl/Legends/Supergirl episodes airing in The CW’s Mondays-at-8 time slot.

God.  Fucking.  Dammit!  That puts Legends of Tomorrow up against Lucifer on a night that I can't be home to watch one and tape the other.  Well, I really like Lucifer, but figure I'll have to play catch-up via the FOX channel because I just can't stand to miss my batshit-insane superhero time-travel show.  And no, I don't have Hulu or Tivo or a DVR.  My primitive ass still uses a VCR to record shows.

Speculation is they may need some extra time dealing with the aftermath of Kreisberg getting fired, as he was the show runner.

And yes he was the show runner for Flash too, but that's the CW's highest rated show and it's going on the air on time supposing they have to do animated stick figures.

What a weird choice. Although I am happy to have less to watch on Tuesdays since that night has, including Flash and LOT, 6 shows I watch airing. 7 when American Horror Story is on. It will be great to have one less show in the debate over what to watch the night of and what to catch on streaming/DVR on a later date. Also; Legends would be a perfect show to unwind with on Monday after starting a busy week. Something fun and easy on a day that can be super stressful.

It is an odd scheduling choice, I agree. Also, why does every show I watch have to air on Mondays or Tuesdays? Is there some kind of TV law that was passed regarding that that I’m not aware of? Sheesh. At least most of my other shows are in hiatus right now.

Also with Geoff Johns supposedly getting a lesser role in the DCEU (dude was stretched way too thin), he can step in and possibly help run Flash if need be.  Barry is his favorite superhero, and the reason he started reading comic books.

I never saw her at any cons or anything like that, but I got a feeling from her Twitter that Ciara Renee wasn't overly put out at getting cut.  She's a NY theater actress and I got the impression she's happier there.

She did like my Tweet "I still miss you on LoT. Maybe you can come back if Hawkman gets attacked by time traveling duck hunters...?"  Though that could easily be more about time traveling duck hunters than a desire to return.

So not surprisingly, media is reporting that Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West / Kid Flash) is now a regular.  Maybe I'm cynical, but what has happened so far is that they fired one black actress (the horrible Ciara Renee) and immediately replaced her with another black actress (Maisie Richardson Sellers).  Now they have fired one black actor (Franz Drameh) and immediately replaced him with another black actor.

I am all for diversity in casting, but these moves make me feel like they think they have to fill a quota (similar to the replacements on Hawaii 5-0 after the debacle when they effectively fired Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park).  As opposed to casting because they want a diverse cast.  They did add a middle eastern woman this season.  But I would have rather seen them add an Asian male character instead of another one-for-one race/gender replacement.

The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale Moving to Legends of Tomorrow as Series Regular

Quote

One of the Waveriders’ newly vacated seats has already been filled.

Keiynan Lonsdale (aka The Flash‘s Wally West) is relocating to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow  as a series regular, beginning with Episode 11 of the show’s current season, EW.com reports; he’ll formally join the Legends as a full-time member in Episode 13.

“When his character stepped away from Flash to go on walkabout, after being dumped and feeling somewhat estranged from his family and team, we knew that Wally West would fit in perfectly on Legends,” executive producer Phil Klemmer said in a statement. “By the end of this season, Wally will learn that the Legends have a different definition of what it means to be a hero.”

I'd just like to know whether the decision to write Jax out happened before or after the decision to bring Wally over.  :( I very much hope that Franz Drameh didn't get pushed out to make room for Keiynan Lonsdale.

Well Wally is firmly connected to The Flash via the Wests. With Snart and Stein gone they probably felt they had to reestablished the connection to their popular sister show. I get why bringing on Wally. And he and Jax are super similar characters I can see why they would feel they were too similar. And I don't mean the color of their skin.It took a while to have Nate and Ray different characters and it still us too much at times. And They did that by playing Nate more the dude bro. I do hope they can work something out. I love Jax's relationship with Sara.

They should have kept Jax as the ship engineer and Sara’s second in command and dumped Nate in favor of Wally.

I agree that Jax easily could have stayed on as chief engineer.  He's grown a lot as a character and spent much more time not as Firestorm.  He was not disposable after losing Stein.

Not really, since the young woman who broke up with him is also a speedster and therefore just as fast as he is.

I think @Miss Dee has a more x-rated meaning in mind.
