Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Please elaborate.  My own dear mother was told, when she went to a fundy church a time or two, by a snotty little teenage brat:

"God hates women who wear pants."

I was floored when she told me that.  Mom only went to please another full-on fundy member relative.

Nuts.

Wow, skits. That'll draw 'em in.

At the fundie retreat center where I worked as teen, they had full weeks and weekends of just preaching, and it really did draw crowds!  (Even for teens, college students, young single people, etc) I always wondered what was wrong with me that it sounded really boring, and everyone was so excited about hearing mr. so-and-so's "messages" all week.

Curious here, as well, over what she said...I wonder if it was aimed at Jinger, or, at least how it would affect their dynamic if Jinger is now getting comfortable with wearing pants.

I think the Jill who just recently spouted off on women wearing pants post is Jill Rodrigues, mother of 12, and Duggar/Bates family stalker/fan.  She's currently undergoing a meltdown because she's trying to get some sort of women's retreat going and no one wants to go, she hasn't gotten pregnant again even though her youngest child is now 2, and she can't seem to sell Plexus to save her life.  She uploaded a video a couple of days ago where she, for some unexplainable reason, downed a bottle of Plexus in a way that looked like she was giving a blow job to the bottle and sucked up every drop of the vile stuff.  (Can anyone here post a picture of it?  It's epic!)

Jill is losing it, and she's doing it on Face Book Live.

Still relevant if it's Jill R and her dynamic with Jinger...didn't the Rodriguii attend JinJer's wedding?

No.  Sadly, JRod and family got an invite (we know this because Jill posted the invitation online), but couldn't attend due to a previous commitment at a tent revival.  It's widely suspected that the invitation arrived too late, causing Jill to make sure that her family was elsewhere so she would have an excuse for not being there, because she didn't think she was invited and didn't want to admit it.

It's also possible that because the invitations were worded to read that being invited wouldn't necessarily allow the recipient to actually go to the wedding, Jill had a moment of self awareness and realized that she was actually being offered the opportunity to send a gift, but she and her family weren't really wanted.

Her behavior at other Duggar and Bates weddings, plus her obvious pimping out her oldest daughter for marriage, have insured that any invitations are sent only out of politeness, not out of any hope that the Rodrigues family would actually show up.

I thought it was for Jinger's wedding, but I could be wrong.

I can assure you that if that's the case, I won't have a meltdown and chug a bottle of Plexus hands free.  I may not have a dozen kids, but I think I'll be able to lose my mind off line.

I'm going to hell.

I only made it maybe 6 minutes into the 30 minute video, but it's super cringey. She takes time out of the spiel for her "niche" (aka: her chosen MLM scheme) to try to save the nonbelievers, gets sidetracked by her hair, and tries to deepthroat a bottle. (Because you know, putting the bottle down was ... too much work?)

And she did it all with the sugary fake Gothard inflection. Ugh.

Plexus is a line of "supplements" that supposedly can cure everything from breastfeeding woes to cancer. Yes, Jill has made that claim. It's also a MLM scam that's now the rage amongst the fundies.

And non-fundies. I have friends and family in MLM, selling DoTerra, TruVue, Lipsense, Thrive, and now my cousin is selling some kind of body wrap product. Their pushy social media marketing makes the older generation selling Avon, Amway, and Mary Kay look almost legit.

I recall Sierra selling Lipsense last year. I guess that venture went down the drain with her jarred cupcakes.

I have a cousin in England who is a wannabe actress and has a alter-ego by the name of "Trudy Lite" which she invented after taking a burlesque class a number of years ago. Jill SO reminds me of her in these shots. Said cousin cut off all ties with me and my family a few years ago after I dared to voice the opinion that there were legitimate reasons not to go vegan. Honestly, "Fundie veganism" can be every bit as scary-extreme as Gothard variety Christianity. Actually, she's more like the Fred Phelps of veganism, but I digress...At any rate, google her if you are inclined. Her character is only of the garden-variety ditz in skimpy clothing. But she'd love the hits if anyone checked her out.

What about this wording suggests that the recipient might not actually go to the wedding?

It was Joy's wedding. She posted these on her Facebook page along with an explanation that they had booked a tent revival last year for the same day as the wedding. I could see where the second picture makes it seem like it's more of an invitation to send a gift than an invitation to the actual wedding.

"Normally" the first names on the invitation indicate the hosts of the wedding. I recently received an invitation that began with "Together with their families". I don't think Jim Bob would approve of that.

Do we know who paid for it? With several daughters myself, I would gladly cede to the groom's family if they offered to finance a wedding. Fortunately it has not yet come up. ?

Most of the weddings I've been to,  the bride and groom usually handle the bulk of the wedding costs themselves. The parents give them a set amount of money and everything else is their responsibility.
