Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Just like they earlier took Janessa to a neurologist Doctor!

Hey, Janessa's been to the eye doctor Doctor, too!  Remember she's the miracle baby, like Josie Duggar, so it behooves Jill to keep her in good shape, the better to solicit love offerings from the masses.

I bet someone else paid for Janessa's doctor visits...like some 'dear friend' from church..

Or she found some fundie specialists who were willing to see the kid for free.  All of Jill's older kids got braces for free from an orthodontist with similar beliefs to theirs.

I’m betting Janessa is on Medicaid, and the rest of the children may be, as well.

They could be on CHIP, a low-cost health insurance for kids.  It’s amazing coverage, my kids have been on it. You pay on a sliding scale based on income...from $0/month to ? Per child. And almost everything is covered with no copay or coinsurance.

But just because they have it does not mean they use it.

Whoa.

Not only a doctor, a pediatrician doctor!

She's their current baby  . If she's lucky Jill won't have anymore kids and she can safely grow into being Jill's Josie .

Ugh, I hate to pay this woman a compliment, but the patio came out nice.

If they've got three deer in the freezer, why do the children still look so starved? You can buy bags of frozen veggies cheap at Walmart and bake your own bread for pennies. I don't think they're getting adequate portions of whatever's being served.

Healthy robust children don’t bring in the love offerings.

So you can't give your children enough food to keep them from looking skeletal, but you can afford new patio furniture?  Really?

I'm sure they get snow and winter weather in West Virginia.  That patio cover won't protect all of that stuff from blowing snow.  Shouldn't it all be stored to keep it nice until spring?

"To chase down every false accusation, weird feeling emotion, injustice, tear that rolls down my cheek, misunderstanding, hateful treatment, etc. would consume my time and rob my joy and derail me from the TRUE purpose of my existence- to glorify my Saviour by choosing to live a righteous life and win souls for Eternity in Heaven! 💖"

Good grief.   I see that it's time for another episode of "The Poor Persecuted Jill Show".  She's depressed.  She just turned 40, she probably isn't pregnant, no one will give her a show of her own like the Duggars have and the small churches of the country are not clamoring for performances by the tone deaf Rodriguii.

Look, Jilly - you are not attacked due to your being the bestest Christian.  You are attacked because you're not even a good Christian.  A good Christian wouldn't put herself before her own kids.  (I have to tell you, if I had 13 hungry kids you wouldn't see me taking anniversary trips to hotels or eating alone with my spouse at the "good Olive Garden".  I wouldn't be spending money to color my hair or slather on make-up.  I'd be trying to find work so I could feed, clothe, and educate my children.

And read your Bible again - this time less selectively.  Go to Luke 18: 10-14 and Matthew 6:5.  The Bible says that the Lord prefers people who live their belief instead of always loudly proclaiming that they are holier than others.

Ding ding ding ding!  You got it!  So spot on.

And finally a brief sighting of other children besides the top favorites!

I wonder if things aren't going as well with Janessa as Jill had hoped. I think other people than Jill would get bad news of her condition in the womb and then see the pretty baby (she is cute) and think "Gee things can't be as bad as we feared."  In the beginning she seemed like just another baby and the older she gets, the more any condition will be noticeable.  I want the best for Janessa and the Rod kids and I hope things get better.

I also agree Jill is depressed about turning forty and that her "mommy years are coming to close"* as Michelle told People when Josie was born. (Note: That's Michelle Duggar not Jill talking. She (Michelle) was hoping God would bless her with a few more children (3 or 4) at 43 and counting!)  Jill went a few years between Janessa and #12, so it does seem likely that won't have too many more babies.

So they had money for patio furniture, a new rug and wood for a new patio roof but no money to fly their oldest son home for Thanksgiving?  And they also grifted airline miles for his flight home at Christmas?  A nice patio is NOT a necessity, Jill.  Especially in West Virginia where it gets dang cold in the winter.  Priorities!!!!!

Yes, and that set does not look inexpensive.  I live in a warm climate and use patio furniture year round.  I purchased mine at a thrift shop for about $30!!!  Also my children are grown and were always well fed.  Jill is an idiot, but the people she convinces to give her "blessings" are even bigger idiots!!  If I were the guy who gave them the plane ticket I would be pissed!!  Tim doesn't deserve to suffer, but his parents need to put their children first and not purchase crap for themselves.

"I adore my children, yet they grow too fast."

Looking at it again, that line jumped out at me.  Who says stuff like this?  Can she only "adore" them when they're little?  My kids are grown and I still adore them.

And I think you're right about this, Temperance.  Maybe Janessa isn't hitting milestones so the miracle is not as miraculous now.   I do hope Janessa is okay.  This is not the family that a child with complex problems needs.

I screen shot it just for you. She could be pregnant, or she could be sitting in a stripped top (it does look oddly firm though).

I don't know about pregnant, but with all that hair and makeup, she looks like a porn star.

JillR is playing the starring role from an imaginary script she writes in her head. Her script is so far removed from reality it's a bit scary. JillR wouldn't know a true feeling if it stabbed her in the heart.

JillR and her ego are in constant competition. And her children are collateral damage. She can't help herself, her pride compelled her to show off a patio that seats 4 or 5 with the excuse she needed more room for her 35 guests. Four folks ate outside without a table away from the other guests? I'm sure the minute JillR hit post on IG the regret sank in because she realized that she lost a few 'givers' now that everyone knows she pulled in some Plexus money.

My in-laws live in West Virginia and they recently told me that they have to put the patio furniture away in the garage during the winters there. Simply covering it isn't the thing to do up there. It will otherwise be ruined by Spring. Jill, time to cart that furniture in the garage or in the basement, girl.

I live in Michigan. Patio furniture manages to survive winters here, covered or uncovered, and I'm sure it does in West Virginia. I'm not faulting the Rodriguii for leaving their outside furniture outside.

Back on topic: I suspect at least part of the Rodriguii dark circles is genetic. Look at David -- he's got dark circles and he most definitely isn't undernourished. I bet he gets his beauty sleep, too.

I'm in Maryland which is next door to West Virginia.  Our weather varies for holidays and this year we had an extremely cold Thanksgiving as did many parts of the country.  I'm hoping no one had to eat on Jill's patio unless they had on their parka gear.

I'm hoping Jill decorated the patio for pictures & then packed away or covered most of it til Spring.

BTW, those green moldy areas on the concrete floor in the before pictures really bother me. I hope they used proper cleaning techniques before painting over or installing the new floor but I doubt it.

The high temp in Charleston, WV on Thanksgiving was 46 degrees F.  That was at noon. Temps dropped quickly to near freezing by 6 pm. So the only people using that back patio were the smokers and I doubt there were any in attendance at the Rodriguii gathering.  Defiling the temple and all that... 🙄

@Barb23 I think the green patches are leftover indoor/outdoor carpeting that is permanently bonded to the concrete with 1979s toxic carpet glue.  But moss could be a close second.   In which case some white vinegar and a scrubbing would clear that right up.   Eh, who am I kidding?  They probably painted over it.

Sofia is 3 1/2 years old.  Really, there’s little danger of her suffocating on a pillow or with stuffed animals in her bed.

HOWEVER

If she really is in a crib, that’s ridiculous. I’m hoping she is actually sleeping on one of those convertible cribs that turns into a toddler bed by dropping the bed down to floor level.

At her age both of my kids had pillows and fluffy comforters and a menagerie of stuffed animals in their beds. While I won’t hate on her for the animals, I will for the lack of pillow.

I know that just about everything JillRod posts lately sets off my "Holy Crap!" meter.  This one is no exception.  What kind of grown-ass 19 year old young woman draws on her little sister's face?  This just reminds me of the sign on Kaylee's back.  Either Jill is really doing it and blaming Nurie, or else Nurie has the same nasty sense of humor that her mother does.  I have a 3 1/2 year old grandson who would be furious if he woke up with a heart on his nose drawn with marker.

Then again, Nurie is still trapped with the whole family and there are no prospects of freedom in sight.  Maybe she's going a little nuts.  Maybe Jill is really just shaming her with this post.  Who knows?

At least they're in the house and not sleeping squashed together in the camper so, that's nice.  Good job clearing that really low bar, Jill.

If I lived in a house with 14 other people, I would be all about that back porch. Maybe the kids can plot their revenge out there or something.

Upthread someone posted that Jill may be starting to realize she has a child with special needs and what that may entail. I haven’t said anything because I didn’t want to sound alarmist or gossipy, but I have noticed all pictures of Janessa show her lying on her back. She’s only seven months, could be the selection of pictures, etc. But I have a child who had low muscle tone, so I kind of cued into that for Janessa. My little man started sitting unassisted at seven months, crawled at ten months, walked at sixteen months. Anyways, in this context it’s worth noting there hasn’t been a post like, “the doctors gave us no hope but she is rolling over/sitting/crawling because Jesus likes me best”

Switching gears for a second, here's a gem from Josie Bates' wedding. It exemplifies why I am pro pre-martial sex.

Classy. But one of my cousins had a wedding picture of him with his head up his new wife’s skirt, so it could be worse.

Those Rodrigues kids look so unhealthy. For a while there was a blog post going around on Facebook about how this woman fed her family of 7 on $300 a month. I remember thinking how scant their meals were (one roast chicken with two cut up potatoes and a few carrots fed all seven with enough left over for soup, and she stretched one pot of lentil soup with no sides into two dinners for all 7) and her kids looked way healthier than any of the Rodrigues. These kids must be eating virtually nothing to look as bad as they do. Too bad they don’t go to a real school — at least then they’d get breakfast and lunch.

@mynextmistake, was your cousin a hardcore fundie? This is about as bad as dancing in their circles.

No, he’s a secular asshole.

I was a bit surprised to see the butt grab, but I imagine it was Josie’s husband’s way of showing off the fact that he’s now allowed to touch Josie because they’re married (ala JB dry humping Michelle at the mini golf course).

I like what i’ve seen of Josie. I think it’s interesting that she was the first of the girls who managed to both finish school and get a real job while still at home and unmarried. I imagine she got some pushback on that from her parents. Her husband is a plumber, right? Where I live they can make very good money. They could have a nice life if they don’t have three thousand kids.
