Ruby25 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 Trying to grab Oscars has been the chief reason DOR's been making movies for the last few years. When I saw a video of him drunk at an Oscars after party a couple years ago, when he went home empty-handed for American Hustle, he was whining on and on about it, saying how at least Alfred Hitchcock never won an Oscar either (oh please, get over yourself). I can't stand the guy now. Seriously, that's like the only thing he wants in life. 3 Link to comment

ribboninthesky1 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 Seth Rogen is one of those names that gives my brain an automatic "Pass!" signal on a film, regardless of who else is in it. It's not even that I actively dislike him, but his voice and laugh annoy me immensely, and it's just easier to not deal with it. I've never regretted the choice. 7 Link to comment

VCRTracking July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 The movie also has Roy in it! I guess they put aside their differences. Protecting US citizens from Libyans is more important than who gets to be with Pam Beesley. 2 Link to comment

absnow54 July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 I like that within 3 seconds of the trailer, you can tell it's a Michael Bay movie without being told. 1 Link to comment
xaxat July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 (edited) I'm a fan of non-Transformer Michael Bay movies, but really dread the idea he is taking on a politically charge real life story. So the evil guy isn't one of the Libyans that stormed the compound (who have no lines), but an American official? I wonder if he is going to name drop "Hilary/Obama doesn't give a shit about you!" SallyAlbright July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 The 33 looks terrifying and intense, but great. Spotlight, starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci. Very excited to see this one, it will also be showing at festivals like Toronto and Venice along with other Oscar hopefuls. 1 Link to comment
AimingforYoko July 30, 2015 Share July 30, 2015 Spotlight looks great (and might be the last great movie about newspapers) but what is with every trailer using some haunting cover of a pop song? (XTC's "Dear God" in this case) Link to comment

Rick Kitchen August 2, 2015 Share August 2, 2015 I guess it's inevitable that Aidan Gillen is typecast as a villain. He has a weasel face. He also doesn't seem to even be trying to do an American accent. Link to comment

He also doesn't seem to even be trying to do an American accent. He played a villain all the way back in Shanghai Knights as "Lord Rathbone". At the time I thought he looked like a lost Baldwin brother raised in England. He did play an American CIA agent who gets killed by Bane in the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises. 1 Link to comment

I don't care how good the acting is, nothing could induce me to pay $15 to see a movie about priests and child molestation. If this were the old days when you could casually see a movie for $3-5, then sure I might give it a whirl. But those days are long gone. Bittersweet seeing Michael Keaton. I'm glad his career's been given a second chance but I sorely miss the manic funny young guy from Night Shift and Mr. Mom. 1 Link to comment
greenbean August 2, 2015 Share August 2, 2015 Well, you don't have to pay to see it. I'll probably check it out, it looks interesting. Link to comment

I kind of feel the same way whenever I see John Travolta now, and comparing him to his prime in Grease and Saturday Night Fever. However, it's a better alternative than whenever you watch Heath Ledger movies and realize you're never going to see him being older than 28. Link to comment
Shannon L. August 2, 2015 Share August 2, 2015 I'm in for 33 and Spotlight. As much as I enjoy a good summer action flick, it's the Oscar worthy ones that I love, so we're approaching my favorite time of year. So the evil guy isn't one of the Libyans that stormed the compound (who have no lines), but an American official? I wonder if he is going to name drop "Hilary/Obama doesn't give a shit about you!" Normally, I'd be in for this movie, too, but if it's anything like what you suggest (and I think it's leaning that way), then I won't spend two cents on it. Link to comment
AimingforYoko August 5, 2015 Share August 5, 2015 (edited) Roland Emmerich? Really? There's a whole series of these for The Martian, I guess, but this one's pretty cool: Edited August 5, 2015 by AimingforYoko 1 Link to comment

I'm glad his career's been given a second chance but I sorely miss the manic funny young guy from Night Shift and Mr. Mom. While Keaton was great in his early comedic roles, I'm glad that Clean & Sober, Birdman & Spotlight prove that he's capable of much more. 1 Link to comment

proserpina65 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 She has an Oscar, and is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, so you may not like her, but she draws people to the seats. I'm not entirely sure she does draw people to the seats. A lot of her films have not been particularly successful. Having an Oscar means nothing in regards to a person's talent. Absolutely. After all, Halle Berry has one, and I think she's a terrible actress. Link to comment
JBC344 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Having an Oscar means nothing in regards to a person's talent. Do you mean this ironically? I may not agree with everyone who wins but I wouldn't say that the Oscars mean nothing in regard to talent. 1 Link to comment
Ruby25 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 No, I mean it. Bad performances and bad actors have and will continue to win Oscars, along with good ones. It's totally scattered. Maybe the lifetime achievement award means more, since they are taking in the person's entire body of work in that case. Link to comment
Rick Kitchen August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 The lifetime achievement award just means that we're sorry you didn't get an Oscar the year you totally deserved one. Link to comment
Ruby25 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 No it doesn't, because they also give it to people who've won before. Link to comment
raezen August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Besides that there are makeup Oscars. When someone gets an Oscar for an 'okay' performance when you know the academy is thinking " We really should have given them the Oscar for X role so many years ago." Link to comment
OakGoblinFly August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I admit it - I laughed. I like the fact that Stephen Hawking is doing the voice over. Ben Stiller is very, very hit or miss for me ..... I find the sheer ludicrousness of Zoolander rather amusing. Link to comment
