zoeysmom December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 I think these first few episodes of BH this season were totally neccessary because of all the toxicity of season 4, plus it gave us a chance to get to know some of the women outside of their relationships with each other. It does harken back to old school housewives and I like that. Plus, it has given us a chance to get to know Eileen and Lisa Rinna as individuals first. I think the show last season made a mistake by not giving that same treatment to Joyce and Carleton. While Kim being mother of the bride doesn't exactly scream edge of your seat tv, you have to admit it's leaps better then watching her trying to train that dog. (if you hadn't viewed the secrets revealed episode from season 4, you'd assume that's all she did all season). I do like seeing that at her core is a caring woman and it makes one wonder how she would have turned out if she hadn't been a child star nor if she hadn't had a domineering mother. Next week is when the women finally interact, and I'm glad there will be some Lisa R individual moments too. I think if each episode has a good balance of organic drama and the fun moments.. it can make a great season. With that said, I think Yolanda/Brandi are trying to start drama with Lisa V.. and she isn't having any of it.. which makes me think the reports of everyone getting along till close to the end of filming sound legit. I was thinking we are already into August as far as filming and the show began airing in mid November. They must have packed a lot of filming into a short period of time. I guess with everyone except Brandi and Yolanda being actresses they could move filming along. Link to comment

suomi December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Vince Van Patten also had a thing with Farrah Fawcett before her marriage to Lee Majors officially ended in the late 70s. VVP was 21-22 and FF was 10 years older. They denied it forever and claimed that playing tennis was their connection but if you saw them together in those days lust for more than tennis was oozing from their pores. They played in a tournament in Palm Springs benefitting the Special Olympics for the better part of a week in '78 (IIRC) and they were the talk of the event. The housekeeping staff at their hotel had lots of juicies for "us" as well because my mom was one of the local organizers for that tourney. 8 Link to comment

ScoobieDoobs December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 (edited) OK, don't count on Brandi being let go. Andy really likes her & he's da boss. Not gonna happen. She just interviewed him on Youtube. I don't get the feeling he's up for getting rid of her. That would be me. I was referring to the length of Lisa's hair as being more flattering. Kyle's hair is beautiful, but I think her age is catching up with her and the length if horrible. Clearly, I'm in the minority but when they show her in the TH with the curls on the end and her tacky clothing, she just looks bad IMO. Vanderpump's hair isn't as beautiful as Kyle's but I think it's still a flattering cut. I like to hear different views than my own, so this is certainly welcome. I've seen women whose hair really does look draggy & makes 'em look awful & yes, older. I'm just not seeing it on Kyle. Normally I would think her length would be appropriate -- just from a style standpoint alone -- for a girl in her teens or under 25. But I see Kyle, & whether her hair is curled or straight, I think she overall looks very nice & her long hair still goes well with her face. Guess it's JMO tho. And what about Lisa's hair? I don't think her hair makes her look older. But something is def off. To me, she just looks uncomfortable with it. I'm not sure what she needs to do, but I think a change (even a slight one) would improve her look enormously. Maybe she could just reduce the denseness & any or all extensions. Her hair too often looks like a shaggy mess hanging from her head. Edited December 18, 2014 by ScoobieDoobs 4 Link to comment

Andy is nice to the face of all his RH guests. The decision making process takes place out of sight. I do hope he has LeAnn Rimes on WWHL just because Brandi gave it her "blessing". What this interview showed me is Brandi really needs Eddie and LeAnn in her life to stay relevant and keep making money. Lisa should cut her hair like Eileen's. Her long thick extensions and the modified Bumpit are dated. 6 Link to comment
ScoobieDoobs December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 He was an heir to a supermarket franchise, married twice having one daughter with Kim and two more with Terry Doss, who we saw and he has been divorced from for 20 years. Kim is describing him as a wanderer and professional poker player who has landed on her doorstep over the last 15 years. Apparently, they have remained close. He was the producer/writer of a movie Escape (1990) http://www.imdb.com/...ef_=tt_ov_st_sm%C2'> which starred Kim and Kyle had an appearance in it. If for the last 15 years he has been bunking with Kim whenever he is passing through. Kim describes him as a wanderer. I find it difficult to believe this guy being an "heir" doesn't have a place to call home. It is a sweet story of two exes who still call each other friend and soul mates, although I hate that term, and love their daughter(s). Interesting background on Monty. But I suspect there is quite a lot missing. Is he (or was he) some kind of drug addict, an alcoholic or does he have some other serious issues goin' on? Is his gaunt, frail look solely from late stage cancer? Honestly, while I'm certainly no expert, I didn't get that impression. One ex-addict caring for another one? Is that a good thing? Not so sure. This all seems very sweet on the surface. But as usual, with anything regarding the Richards sisters, scratch the surface a tiny bit & what you find can be really ugly. 4 Link to comment

I don't know if Monty is a former addict, but my uncle has a similar set of cancers and was not an addict, and he is similarly gaunt and frail. Between all the chemos and the bone loss from them, my uncle's former 6'4" frame, 250 lb body is a shell. Cancer is a bitch. As for the hair situation, I think Kyle and Lisa look fine but it wouldn't hurt for them to do an update. Kyle wanted to put a curl or wave in her hair for the wedding; clearly she has long, long thick hair. Why not cut a few inches off and let the curl last longer? Something like Sofia Vergara length would be awesome. Lisa, OTOH, needs to let the pink inserts go; that's so Adrienne's territory. She should go with a richer, more rummy color. 5 Link to comment

copacabana December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 I think that when women get to be a certain age, and other things begin to fly south, if they've got nice enough hair to begin with, they tend to pick a style they feel comfy with and hang on for dear life, like a security blanket. I like Kyle's hair on her generally -- she's clearly all about it. A few inches off wouldn't hurt her--might make her look a bit taller too in proportion. I have longish hair and am close to 60 now. I tend to wear it in a French twist with hair picks most of the time--sometimes it comes down. I would look younger with it shorter but I like having something to play with, still. Kyle looks pretty this season. I'd like to see Lisa R. soften up her hair situation. The short shag suits her but the chunky highlights or lowlights or whatever they are look dated and harsh. Lisa V would look terrific with a darker tone overall and a heavy (strategic!) streak or two of her natural silver or gray. As for her clothes, don't get me started. Her white going off to PS outfit was terrific. Kim looked better with her old nose. The side shot of her at the wedding makes the new one look like Barbie's and takes interest away from her face. The gold dress was kind of matronly but looked nice on her. Own the matron! Sigh -- I'm always wrong about who's coming and going so no doubt Brandi will remain. I don't hate her -- She doesn't make me want to throw things like some do. I don't take anything she says seriously so she doesn't bug me. If she were to leave, I'd be okay too. If nothing else, it continues to blow my mind that she's been able to make any kind of living for herself with such limited skills. In other earth shattering news, both Kyle and Yolanda could be taught how to chew like the princesses they are. They are so funny to watch eating with their rapid fire mouth movements when they eat -- like little rabbits who can't believe their good fortune. Food -- it's here, in my mouth, chew! 9 Link to comment
ryebread December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 ETA: RE Max and his older gal pal. Didn't Lisa say to Max in the kitchen "darling thank you for not bringing your girlfriend this weekend. We all haven't met her yet, and it would be so awkward to say, nice to see you....now I have to leave to go get a Star". paraphrased. It makes total sense to me. You never introduce new people to the group on the day you're getting a star. duh. BH101. Yea, I noticed Lisa saying that as well, and assumed it meant she had never met her. In her blog, however, she says the gal actually works at SUR. Maybe she just hasn't met her, but Lisa has always said that she does all the hiring at SUR, so I am confused. I think when Lisa said that, she meant that all her other houseguests hadn't met her yet. I'm giving Pinky a pass on the girlfriend issue. It's possible it's not the age difference that's got her knickers in a bundle - she said on the show exactly what she said in her blog, that it's futile to get in the middle of it. For all we know, Lisa has spent weeks/months consoling a smitten Max over a girlfriend who is also fucking Jax but keeps Max on the chain. I'm giving her the benefit of a doubt that she knows her son and the situation better than I do. 5 Link to comment
ghoulina December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 I firmly disagree. Kyle's hair looks shiny, thick, and bouncy. As long as somebody's hair is healthy and kempt, there should be no "age limit" on length. I totally agree with you. I've always loved Kyle's hair and I continuously marvel at how she keeps it looking so healthy at that length. Mine is almost as long and I'm about to cut it off, to my collar bone, because it just doesn't stay very healthy when it's that long. Not to mention it's constantly getting caught in things, like my kids' jacket zippers, my Eos lip balm container, the nail clippers, etc. No, I don't think she's too old for long hair at all. Appropriate hair length has a lot to do with other factors as well, like health, facial structure, etc. For instance, Lisa's hair isn't nearly as long as Kyle's, but I think it looks just dreadful on her. It seems very dry and poofy, and just isn't flattering at all. 7 Link to comment

ryebread December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 I'm also hating the assumption that just because the woman Max is seeing is in her 30s that automatically means she wants a long term, serious relationship and kids. I, for one, didn't say she wanted a long term serious relationship with kids. The cynical me thinks she might just want a kid - but only if it comes with all the spoils that goes with having one with someone with loads of ca$h. Maybe part of it is Max's issues, and she thinks he'd be better off not dating at this point or dating a peer? Exactly. I don't even know Max like Lisa and Ken do. But all I NEED to know to surmise that he shouldn't be dating a woman practically old enough to be his mother is that he rides a skateboard in the streets of Beverly Hills and doesn't hold a job allows him to support himself. 3 Link to comment

Almost 3000 December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Kim looked better in her MOB dress than Brook did in her gown. I disliked Brook's dress and for a choice that was custom made for her it should have been perfection on her figure. So far, he's been off our screens -- smart lad -- but I wouldn't put it past Lisa to bring him and his romantic escapades into the mix at Cheating, Inc. Why even mention it on camera really? Would Lisa need to have gotten the young woman's permission to bring her up on air as someone she doesn't want for her son? Politeness would dictate that. Poor kid really. I sure wouldn't want my Mama blogging about my love life! Lisa and Pandora seem to equal Yolanda and Gigi with Max and Bella as the nagging afterthoughts. (Hooking up with an older woman and learning a thing or two should be every young man's dream!) Lisa V's hair, wardrobe, aura, and schtick always remind me of this romance mini-series from the early 80s called "Bare Essence," with Genie Francis and Ian McShane. I'm surprised she hasn't tried to launch some kind of ticky tacky perfume line. Am I imagining things or does Mauricio seem a bit short tempered this season? He seems kind of irritable. I wonder if he's sick of doing the show now that it's gotten them where they wanted to be. Wouldn't blame him and kind of fun to see him not being as ingratiating as he's been in the past. mbutterfly December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Well, isn't that part of the issue right there? Saying that is saying being gay is a choice. And, then she's saying Max's preference for a woman who happens to be older is a choice. Well, is the latter a choice or isn't it? Are the two situations similar or different? I see it more about Lisa thinking men can date younger women but women shouldn't date younger men. Being on a public platform, if she didn't mean that, she should've been more sensitive to her words. That is the distinction for me. You accept your child for who he is. Absolutely! You may or may not fully accept his choices. 4 Link to comment

Again, not that it's just the hair, but the whole combo. Which may explain why I think she looks much better in jeans and a white shirt, or a floaty maxi dress; the casual elements add balance. 5 Link to comment

I used to think of people in their 30s as dressed up career-oriented age group. While of course that still fits lots of people, for a while I used to go out to clubs. During that year long mistake of my life, 80% of the people I met were 28-39 year olds who unless you looked at them out in the sunlight, appeared (dressed and acted) like 21 year olds. Just because the woman is in her late 30s, that doesn't mean she's mature. I know a woman who just turned 40 and acts like the cast of VPR. Maybe they're both just having fun and not looking for anything serious? Which is exactly the kind of woman (or man) I wouldn't want my kid hooking up with. LOL Yikes. And you're right in that they probably ARE just hooking up for fun. That's why, imo, there's no need to bring the woman's mama into the picture. I'm not too worried about Max, though. As easily as Lisa and Ken broomed Cedric and Brandi, I don't doubt the girlfriend will be going the same way. Unless of course this is a storyline. Then I expect the Vanderpump Todds to milk the drama for at least one season. 4 Link to comment
copacabana December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 As perennial as the spring rains the great hair debate begins anew each season. Making me want to poke my eye out with a cork screw. Hair makes this world go round! Don't you remember the Barbie dolls that had hair one could pull from the roots? Did you never give your dolls a haircut? What kind of a world do we live in? Max's paramour is 13 years older per Lisa's blog. What a lot of stuff and nonsense. He's having a fling, either real or imagined. In all of Beverly Hills and LA, the young man had to involve himself with a SUR staffer! If the woman is really smitten with him, and stranger things have happened, you can bet that she'll be the one left brokenhearted. I'm sure Todd and Lisa have slipped Max every state of the art plastic wrapping device known to man or beast. And if he were disposed to insist on marriage, with the lady's consent, his parents would threaten to cut him off, off camera, and end of story. Jason is acceptable to them. The staff, the help, the dullards they exploit on their stupid show -- no way! Bet it's already over even as we type. She's probably setting us up for another VR storyline because what they've got going now is only about inbreeding and cheating -- and what looks to be some really lousy restaurant service. Shame shame shame. I don't think that David Foster much liked Yolanda saying, weirdly, that he and Mohammed made for one great father. I get where she was going but he bristled -- dumb thing to say. I don't much care for what I've seen of him but I do think he cares for her children and I like that he wanted to introduce the notion that Yolanda may need to invest a bit more of herself into her middle child. That whole brief exchange was the realest conversation I've seen those two have. I don't think she realized she was kind of dissing both of Bella's fathers while appearing to show gratitude and say thank you. I'm betting that Lisa is putting some heavy pressure on Bravo to get rid of Brandi. 3 Link to comment
quinn December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 (edited) The thing that stuck out to me in the scene with Yolanda and David was, except for that quick shut down when he brought up the middle child thing, she puffed up David and Mohamed's parenting, and yet in the leaked email Yolanda wrote Bella, she does not mention David or Mohammed by name or even say "we" when discussing the adult / parent side of the equation. I think that David is a decent guy who wants to be a good father to his step-children, but I think that he is consumed by his work and that made him a good mark for Yolanda. While it appears that he wants a tidy and uncomplicated personal home life, I don't know if he is always "present" either physically or emotionally, which gives Yolanda enough time on her hands to make her daughters, and maybe all three of her children, "better versions" of herself. ZaldamoWilder December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Actually Brandi called Vivica, "Ghetto Barbie". Without being overly dramatic I once again find Brandi tossing out a racial charged comment. Just because the person she says it to isn't visibly offended doesn't mean I am not. Somehow, Brandi has become the one person for whom I can't work up any lather when it comes to stuff like this. She just reminds me of what it would be like to have an idiot call you stupid. I can't be bothered. Come on over any time. I do make sure there is no animal hair in our food and we have hand towels all over the house to mop up his drool before drenches our guests. He even wears a giant, thick, terry cloth bib when ever we take him out in public. LOL Poor Giggy, his clothes do look uncomfortable but I doubt they wear the "fancy" clothes on him day to day. When we see him at home, he is in lighter more breathable style clothing, 2 seasons ago they showed him in something that reminded me of soft jersey PJ style outfit, right before their renewal party. I think these over the top fussy outfits are worn when he makes an "appearance" at some special event like on this recent episode and at events for the Alopecia Foundation. I hope you like Bartenura. :D Vince Van Patten also had a thing with Farrah Fawcett before her marriage to Lee Majors officially ended in the late 70s. The housekeeping staff at their hotel had lots of juicies for "us" as well because my mom was one of the local organizers for that tourney. suomi, this is the kind of tea I live to sip. Lol!! Thank you darl! Shame it didn't work out, especially considering her subsequent choices. I remember him from back in the day. Shit, two of them together must've been like looking directly at the sun. So now since one of you referred to Mauricio as John Tuturo, I can't unsee it. Whomever it was damn you straight to hell, I actually thought the guy was kind of cute beforehand. Anyway, since, I can see what Kyle saw in him. He's my age, still has his full head of hair and even if he doesn't have em anymore, you can still see the outline where his abs used to show up. Two (if you're lucky) out of every ten 46 year old men look like that. I don't love Kyle's hair long simply because I think she could still spare yards of it and look much younger. She's always holding her head/neck in a way that makes me think her hair weighs a thousand pounds. I get why she doesn't want to cut it if it's her thing but I want women who've had the hair they had in high school to try something new. She looks a lot like Demi Moore to me so she can actually see (good) evidence of what it looks like when you can let it go. 5 Link to comment

For all of their "my love" talk I've always had a strong marriage of convenience feeling about them. I think Yo needed another rich man after Mohamed and David was pleasent enough. I think David needs a hot wife to feel good about himself, but may have reached the age where he couldn't handle the drama of another trophy wife from the Vanderpump Rules set. Yo is a former model who still looks great, will make his needs the center of her world(I mean, she gets mad at people who talk while he's playing piano!), and at least makes an effort to keep the personal drama away from his house. I have never seen a great love affair with them, just two players who know its time to lock up the end game. 10 Link to comment

I thought it might have had more to do with having to cut the yacht trip short to attend Brooke's last minute wedding. I would be cranky too. Link to comment
Avaleigh December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Brooke's wedding was last minute? Is that why Mauricio was asking about what he should wear? Were there invitations, I wonder? 1 Link to comment
motorcitymom65 December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 Brooke's wedding was last minute? Is that why Mauricio was asking about what he should wear? Were there invitations, I wonder? Yes, Kyle said this about it in her blog: "We returned early from Europe, because Brooke had decided to move her wedding date up to make sure her father was strong enough to attended due to his health. It was supposed to be six months later. We hadn't chosen dresses for the wedding, yet, so I sent some pictures of dresses to Brooke for approval first. Although a somewhat "impromptu " wedding, it was absolutely beautiful. The bride and mother of the bride were radiant." Originally it was supposed to be a beach wedding, so I will assume that is why Mauricio was questioning the attire with the venue/date change. 5 Link to comment
jaync December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 (edited) I dropped a tear during the Kim and Monty moments. Sweet scenes. A Chanel dog bowl and wastebasket. Cue the Ja'net Dubois, the Umanskys have arrived. The VP-Ts are horrible bosses because Rocio covers her shoes? Oh, FFS. No where does Lisa's reticence about accepting the age difference between her son and his girlfriend suggest that she doesn't love her son unequivocally. Right; there's a big difference between not accepting/shunning your child for being gay - who they innately are, and being wary of the person they're dating. If Max likes dating older women, then I think Lisa should be "glad he isn't dating Adrienne. Hee, ain't that some truth. Yolanda should just stop lying, because she obviously does it badly. Was that the same Dwight that used to be stuck to Taylor's ass? Edited December 18, 2014 by jaync 6 Link to comment
vrocotamy December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 (edited) I wanted to echo some of the other posters here in saying the dearth of drama this season is a reaction to the surfeit of it last season, which made virtually every character unlikeable. They've basically reintroduced Kim, Lisa V., Kyle, and Yolanda. According to public records, Monty owns a smallish home in Charleston, SC. If he's a professional poker player, my guess is that he spent lots of time in Vegas with comped hotel rooms and then would visit his ex-wives and children in Southern California for extended periods fairly frequently, staying with Kim after her LTR with Lil' Kim's father ended (Kyle said in her blog they've lived together on and off for 15 years.) He doesn't resent Kim leaving him for Gregg Davis at this point because they basically had a shot-gun marriage after Kim got pregnant with Brooke, since Kim and her mother, as Catholics, didn't believe in abortion or out of wedlock birth, following his interview for House of Hilton. They lov/ed each other but neither was ready for marriage. Edited December 19, 2014 by vrocotamy 6 Link to comment
jinjer December 18, 2014 Share December 18, 2014 I like Kyle's hair; I don't like her. I don't think Brandi came up with Ghetto Barbie. I think Vivica or another contestant said it on Celeb Apprentice and Brandi heard it there. It's referenced in an old interview of Vivica's. "the sexxy foxxy ghetto barbie kept the goods coming with no shame" http://drboogiesecrets.blogspot.com/2009/05/vivica-fox-chair-chats-with-dr.html So true to form, Brandi just spouts what she hears, never thinking it may be offensive to other people. 5 Link to comment

Lola16 December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Lisa V said they hadn't met Max's girlfriend's mother yet and they didn't approve of the girlfriend and thought it was odd that Max would want to invite them. Hearing now that Max's girlfriend is a SUR employee makes sense. It's another storyline. Max has had a few cameos on VPR already this season. Is there a link to Yolanda's email to Bella? 2 Link to comment
BitterApple December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 It's kind of funny that Ken and Lisa reject Max's girlfriend but slobber all over Jason when IMO, Jason is nothing more than a smarmy, social-climbing golddigger. He reminds me of the Winklevoss twins from The Social Network minus the pedigree and family money, 5 Link to comment
