S12.E06: High Cries and Misty Demeanors

I am by no means a Rinna fan, but if bird symbols give her some comfort over missing Lois, I won't deny her. My father passed away on Thanksgiving 2017. (It's OK. He was nearing 85 and have lived a good, long life and was in a nursing home.) I went to a metaphysical fair the following spring and had a card reading. The reader said that my father would send hawks to watch over his children. A few years later, on the anniversary of his death, I was outdoors waiting for a friend to pick me up and a Cooper's hawk landed on the iron railing of the walkway I was standing on. It was pretty cool! (But, I also lived near a wooded area, MMV.)

So far, I am not liking Diana. I am firmly on the Sutton side of the argument. I think Crystal's full of s**t. She's painted herself into a corner and trying to cry her way out.

Yes, I've heard their theory and it's possible.  I have a different theory.  Kyle and her coven are all about play acting on BH, never allowing anything about their real lives to be shown, protecting their image, and so on.  Anyone who would share details (LVP, supposedly) to the press or say things on camera that could tarnish their reputations and livelihood are attacked (Denise made them look like bad moms, according to them).  Crystal broke the cardinal rule of alluding to negative characteristics Sutton may have while the camera was rolling.  The coven protects their images at all costs, so Crystal has to have a lecture from Queen Kyle.  It doesn't matter that Sutton was the target, they would put a stop to anyone who was not playing along with the game. I also think Teddi gave Kyle and Rinna info about Crystal and her previous friendships that they can use against her.  Both alluded to the fact that they knew things, but would not say what- again filtering what is seen by viewers and standing by their credo.

A lot of people use the word "friends" too loosely.  I've had people refer to me as "best friend" or "family" but the actions don't follow through.  There is a difference between social friends and close friends.  There are just so many variables at play socially that unless the details are known, it's not fair to say Crystal is the problem.  Bullying and mob mentalities are real.  Maybe this is a shit group of 14...

Also? Crystal's husband has major Hollywood success and status. Denise also had this. The rest of these poseurs look around at their own D-list lives and hate them both for this reason. Not to mention, Crystal and Denise are naturally stunning. And younger.

The 14-friends-rejection reminds me of a long ago time when my friend group pushed out a very difficult woman. On a girls trip to a cabin, she was relentlessly obnoxious. We put her on a bus ride home.

Garcelle - I'm loving her right now. She's says what I'm thinking while it's happening. And she's witty to boot. Don't change, Garcelle!

Diana - Woman is wrapped like a sausage in that pink dress in her TH. That's what happens when the store comes to you, they only bring one size. I'd much rather hear details about her call-girl photobook scandal; that was glossed over and needs to be explored.

Sutton - Girl has a big gut and chicken legs. Sorry, not sorry.

Crystal - She could rock a bikini better than all of them but of course she chooses a wetsuit instead. She needs it for all those crocodile tears.

Kyle - I'm liking her perspective this season. I always liked her, which seems an unpopular opinion on these boards.

Lisa - She would stuff Lois and sit her right down at the table if she could because Lois is the only thing viewers like about her at all.

Erika - Pathologically obsessed with other girls' shit so she doesn't have to talk about hers.

If I missed anyone, too bad. There's too many HWs this season!

I tried a quick google. Both books might have come out in 2008?

ETA: Rinna wrote one book that came out in 2008. Rinna’s s e x advice book came out after.

Erika and that whiny manipulator CRYstal with no storyline are the relentless ones. The fact that this is what we are watching, instead of covering Erika’s legal woes the way we did with Tre, Jen Shah, etc. - I am calling BS. And I’m calling you out Andy Cohen. Why is Erika being glossed over?
I legit can’t watch this farce anymore. Erika is getting the kind of protection usually reserved for Bethenny. I almost quit NYC over it but at least B didn’t defraud plane crash victims.

If I remember correctly, Crystal started things and seemed to really relish the ensuing meltdown from someone who seemed unhinged at the moment.   You would have to see it but It just seemed bizarre to me.

*Crystal sabotaging friendships. Who can trash 14 friendships? Sutton, you can’t save this woman from herself, so stop. Crystal obviously has issues, but no sympathy here.

To be fair to Crystal, she was the new gal, and each time she had been around Sutton, there were tears, the face roller, or other Sutton-centric drama (I still believe Sutton was menopausal and got HRT or had them adjusted because she's so different this season)

 When the ugly leather pants comment happened, I saw Crystal's smirk more that she was uncomfortable, like she didn't know what to do or how she was supposed to respond to Sutton's current meltdown. She just looked so awkward.

I'd have to rewatch, but I thought Sutton started that one, by being embarrassed that 1. She didn't bring Garcelle a bday gift, and everyone else did and 2. She wasn't included in the group gift with Kathy and Kyle, but Crystal was. Am I misremembering?

Imo they're both idiots for letting the coven get a wedge in between them. They're falling right into the FFF's slimy paws.

I thought the reason they didn’t really take a break after season 11, and started filming again so soon was because Erika’s life was such an Ugly Mess, and they wanted to capture all the gory details on film. Instead, we have to watch her pretend to care about and coach Crystal. 
 

The only aspect I’m enjoying is Kyle choosing Team Sutton rather than Team Crystal/Erika.

As much as I have giggled and poked fun at Rinna’s birds, I’m with you in not denying her this at all.  I couldn’t agree more - In fact, I have “a thing” with doves and my grandma, who I cherished and whose death was crushing to me.  9 years later, the home I now live in (a home in which she lived for a time), has a backyard with at least two doves at any given time.  It warms my heart to this day. We set doves free at her funeral and I have several little small dove items she loved - pendants, brooch pins, etc., in different purses so that I have one with me at all times.  

The part that I found funny was the vagueness of that reference by the medium.  I said out loud, “I could have come up with that one!”  The phrase “even a broken clock is right twice a day” came to mind.  Regardless, the comfort it brings is no joke - so it certainly has value.  

CHARLIZECAT, I’m sorry about your dad - and thanks for sharing the story about the Cooper’s hawk.  That would have been a big deal to me, honestly.

I TOTALLY agree about the menopause theory and will never believe that wasn’t the case.  I had an extremely similar experience and was scary emotional over things that wouldn’t have otherwise affected me at all - purely chemical.  I DO think Sutton is generally on the sensitive side, but there was more to it than that at the time.  I felt like Crystal was taken aback by those responses several times and truly did not know what to do or how to act. 

I do wish both Crystal and Sutton would have put an end to this “team” crap before it went on for so long, but I have a strong feeling we’re about to see them do the mature thing and work it out themselves.  I was glad to see Sutton being resistant to Kyle’s take on “manipulative Crystal” and staying open to working things out in the future.  

I actually felt for Crystal when she was so upset on the beach.  I don’t think she could have stopped the tears if she’d tried, so she was an easy target for Rinna and Erika to glom onto.  I think Crystal spoke her truth and it bit her in the ass, which bothers me more and more.  I believe she feels an obligation to use this platform and her voice to deal with issues related to being a minority - both within the group, and in general - as they come up.  Not an easy place to be, as she (and many others) have experienced.  The backlash is unfair, to say the very least.  

On the other hand, nothing that we’ve seen has made me believe Sutton to be racist.  I don’t even feel as if CRYSTAL believes it, from what we’ve seen…but that’s just my interpretation at this stage in the game.

I found the scene of Crystal crying painful to watch. Erika and Rinna were just egging her on. Their little smirk after the blow up at dinner spoke volumes. I think Crystal is too fragile to be on a show like this. I don't think Sutton said anything "very dark" but Crystal threw that out there to defend herself. Now she is backed into a corner, and the Mean Girls Erika and Rinna are totally using her to stir up trouble. Sutton should quit the show; she doesn't need the money so why bother with this crap?

Well, for one thing, it's hasn't been proven (yet) that Diana has been a madame in the past. Second, if she were, it sounds like the organization she was in was very shady and it seems like she would be reluctant to discuss it. As opposed to Crystal, who is open about her past experience working at that escort service.

Does Erika really not get that we aren't judging her for having a glam squad, per se, but rather for paying for said glam squad with money that rightfully belongs to orphans and burn victims?  Can she really be so out of touch??

I don’t like Kyle. I think she showed us who she was when she hid Brandi’s crutches. I think she’s an attention-seeking mean girl who doesn’t get as much heat as she should for being a huge pot stirrer (*insert Garcelle making stirring motion here*) THAT SAID!!! In this instance I really get the sense that she’s taking Sutton’s side over Crystal’s not because of some alliance or grudge but because she genuinely thinks Sutton is right and Crystal is full of shit. And I appreciate that.

There are her high school friends, first job friends, undergrad friends, med school friends, etc. Some of the friends are in the same group, but there are still many from each one. Thanks to all of you I can’t get enough of that podcast. Unfortunately, Top Chef (Gail and Pardma pile-ons galore! Poor-Poors-ALI WONG!) is over and I only watch this heap on Bravo. They are hilarious....I want to be besties with them!!!
