“I have a training bra!”

“Let me know when you’re done training.”

LMAO! I love Sheldon and Missy episodes, and this wound up being surprisingly sweet. Separate rooms were long overdue but of course Sheldon would miss her being around.

I wonder what Connie is going to do to Dale when she finds out he ratted her out of her gaming room.

Shades of when Sheldon left the apartment in this episode.

I was hoping that Missy had the missing train sign showing that she too will miss rooming with Sheldon.

I don't really feel bad for Connie, but I wish the cop had waited until her second night to shut her down.  We were younger (or at least I was), but I think I have memories of walkie-talkie-ing with my sister at night.

I wonder how Connie can still afford a nice lifestyle (and to pay cash for a business) if she's such a hardcore gambler. Even if her late husband had life insurance, it couldn't have been *that* much, and she's obviously doesn't have a job.

About time the twins got their own rooms. Missy manipulating George into hanging her posters was cute.

Does Georgie still have to follow the same house rules while living in the garage? He told Sheldon he was about to have company, but I don't think Mary and George had previously allowed him to have girls in his room. And any girl who visits him will still need to go inside the house to use the bathroom - nobody will want to use the garage sink - so Mary and George will know he's having someone over.

My mother has a friend like this: retired, no job, subsists on gambling. I don’t know how she does it either but she’s successful. The hardcore gamblers have a system and it often works. Not everybody ends up pissing all their money away, some are actually good at it.

But Connie told Dale that she's always been losing to the house. I don't think she would have said that if she'd won more than she'd lost.

Always, knew about the show but just started watching it this year. It’s a cute show which is well written & very deep on a comedy level. Ian Armitage is a real find. Actually, both of the kids are, too. Annie Potts is always good and was surprised to see that Craig T. Nelson is on the show, too. BTW! I’ve never watched one episode of Big Bang Theory. I’m not sure why but it didn’t appeal to me. I think I  might have been too dumb for it. LOL!!!!

Lance Barber's facial expressions are Emmy worthy if there was an award in that category.

Actually, a lot about this episode makes it a good candidate for Emmy submission, especially the writing, IMO.
And, yes, @Snow Apple, I was able to completely forget about the cheating drama of the previous episodes.

I almost teared up when Sheldon brought his pillow and blanket to Missy's room and asked to sleep on her floor.

Georgie peeing in the utility sink is gross, and now I'm wondering how many places I've rented with stained utility sinks that were used for that purpose. 😨😱🤮

I realized Connie knew Dale asked his cop friend about her gambling investment when the cop friend was in the process of shutting down the gambling arcade and Connie says to him: "I thought you were Dale's friend," to which he replied that he is, but he's running for Sheriff, and shutting down a gambling den will look good for his campaign adverts.

I hope she does.  I found Dale's attitude and actions pretty unpleasant in this episode.  Of Meemaw's boyfriends, I like Dale the least.  Ira the furniture store owner and Dr. Sturgis treated Meemaw so much better than Dale.  My thought throughout the story was 'what does she see in him"?

It's always funny to see Sheldon's face light up whenever some kind of contract/agreement is needed.  Such pure joy!!

One might think Sheldon should become a lawyer.  I had a lawyer a lot like Sheldon a few years ago.  The firm provided another lawyer in the room to smooth over some of the head scratching comments he made when we met, but he was a brilliant wunderkind and won my case!

George's facial expressions and Missy's "I'll strangle you with my bra" comment were hysterical.

I hope Connie breaks up with Dale. I really don't like him.

Not 100% as she could know he was Dale's friend.

She made no mention that Dale spoke to him.

Could go either way I guess.

I'm guessing all of that is spelled out in the "housing agreement." Knowing Sheldon, I'm sure there's a way to ammend the housing agreement. If the sink becomes an issue, this could be part of the update.

Overall, I liked this episode. It was enjoyable and it was fun to see each of the three siblings react to change in rooms. I'm curious if we will see Missy manupulating her father again.

I thought this was a bummer episode.  Meemaw laundromat is a drag, then the backroom casino is closed down.  Georgie moves into the garage and resorts to urinating in the slop sink. Mary's not happy and neither is George, although that is not such an oddity.  And Sheldon isn't happy about being separated from Missy.  Maybe Missy is somewhat happy.  Doesn't seem like any of the Cooper's won this week.

It was quite notable that George offered to help Georgie, and did help Missy (loved her "daddy's little girl" line), but no one helped Sheldon.  Mind you, they've all been so focused on Sheldon for so long, that I'm sure it was a blow to him that he had to bend a little, but still.  It might have been nice if someone had helped him move his trains.  That had to take more than just science.

Would it even be legal to live in a garage like that? Especially to have your minor child living there... I don't know about Texas specifically but I assume most places have at least some rules about what can be considered a residence. I also assume it's not heated (it probably doesn't get too cold but still) or particularly well-insulated.

I was wondering what kind of science he used. Seemed like he moved them without anyone noticing. Wondering what the timeline was here...Missy's bed would have had to be moved before Sheldon moved the trains, but after Georgie's bed was moved out...but the trains would have had to be moved before Georgie's bed went into the garage.

I think it was just as we saw it -- Georgie moved his bed out, then George helped Missy move (at halftime, of course), and while George and Missy were decorating, Sheldon moved his trains.  Georgie could have left his mattress on end until Sheldon got the trains moved out.

The 80s/90s when you would send your kid home alone after school where you could let your kid play in the backyard or in the woods next to your house and ride your bike to your friends all unsupervised lol plus this is Texas in the 80s I don’t think anyone paid attention. Plus he is 17

I agree with all of this👆 and more, plus this is the same episode in which the local police make it clear that they aren't interested in enforcing laws when the violation isn't bothering anyone.
That said, we *also* saw in this episode that sometimes laws could be enforced that were not previously.
So, "in conclusion" (as Sheldon would say, with his legal pad in hand) it remains to be seen whether or not anyone will blow the whistle on the Coopers for using the garage of their single-family-zoned residence as a separate apartment. Plus, there's the sink urination issue. Health Department could become involved.
However, on the third hand, I can't imagine their local police wanting to get involved *unless* the person or persons blowing the whistle are Georgie's parents, and the local police are just there to back them up, so to speak.

When I was a kid in the '80s we had a camper.  We left it in the yard when we weren't camping.  during the summer, sometimes my dad would go out there and sleep just because he thought it was cooler.  No big deal, right?  Neighbor told him he was going to call the cops because that wasn't legal.  So, it all depends on the neighbors.

That neighbor always had a petition going on for something.  It's too bad this was before the era of HOAs.  He would have loved being an all-powerful head of an HOA.

See where I grew up in Texas (pilot point) they had people living in campers in back yards and a couple had converted their garages into extra rooms (I’m sure with no permits) all the time and no one batted an eye. So I found this plot line plausible I guess

Connie running a gambling shop that was essentially already a staple was basically harmless so I do kinda blame Dale for ratting her out  to his cop friend.  That’s very uncool.   He knew he wasn’t going to get his way so he forced the issue.  Regardless I’d break up with him on the spot.  You just don’t rat someone out  like that unless their lives are in immediate danger and Connie has been playing there long enough to know if the place was extra crispy shady.

Sheldon and Missy are always cute together when they actually get along.  But I can see why Missy would want her own room.  They are hitting puberty and it is time.  But I can also see why someone like Sheldon who hates any kind of change would not like it at all.

I like that Georgie could tell right away that Sheldon was clearly actually upset about Missy going to a different room and that he offered to help him find his toy, even if Sheldon ran off before he could. Georgie can come off like a dumb teen a lot of the times, but he can be very intuitive and he means well.

George's face when Missy threatened bra strangulation was incredible.

We had a popup camper when I was a kid and my dad kept it parked on the grass next to the driveway. Sometimes we'd sleep in it in the summer (once he moved it into the garage and opened it in there because we had friends over and were planning to sleep out there but the weather got bad and they didn't want us out there in a thunderstorm). We also pitched a tent for weeks at a time in the backyard and would play in it during the day and just sleep out there when we felt like it. There'd be a big square of dead grass at the end of the summer.

Just to expand on my earlier statement about what could happen next between Connie and Dale.  Firing her grandson is one thing, but coming between her and potential money from gambling by calling the cops to shut her down is not a good move by anyone unless they have a death wish. With Dale out of the picture, maybe we'll get to see more of Reba McEntire on the show.  Seeing her and Annie Potts singing (badly) "Islands In The Stream" is one of my favorite moments from the show.

Georgie can be a dumb, girl crazy, sex obsessed teen. I can't think of a time when he put his own social life ahead of his siblings welfare/well-being when it really mattered or was something serious. This is what I love about Georgie. He can be responsible and do the right thing when he wants to.

As much as I loved the show in the beginning, it now seems like it's taking a direction that I don't care for as much. Maybe it's inevitable because Missy, Sheldon, and Georgie are all growing up. I do think they are diluting the show by trying to highlight everyone, all the time. It might be different if the show was an hour long, but it's only a half hour show and when you subtract the commercials, that does not leave a lot of time for everyone. The shows title is Young Sheldon and I think the episodes should mainly feature him and how he reacts to the world and people around him. They seem to slowly be getting away from that and also the episodes are getting darker (Brenda and George Sr.) etc. I hope I am wrong and it's just me, but I think the show may be jumping the shark. Say it ain't so.

So Connie has been getting bitchier each show, now they're making her just stupid.  You're gonna buy a business, but not actually run the business?  Did she just think she was gonna play the slot machines all day and the laundromat was going to run itself?  And exactly how was she going to launder the illegal income from those slot machines?

The only character I liked this episode was George.  I'm also becoming disenchanted with the show trajectory.

It is definitely a whole lot colder up in Milwaukee than it is down in Texas, of course, I really liked that loft that "The Fonz" had...................

and let's not forget about the loft that Mike Seaver had as well.   Where did they live?????

Can anybody remember any other TV shows where a character lived in the garage????

Currently, United States of Al. A couple years ago (maybe longer?) a sitcom where the couple split up, but took turns living in the garage while the other parent lived in the house with the kids. I could probably figure out the name but maybe someone will actually remember.

IRL, my daughter’s garage is the laundry room, workout room, WFH office, and spare TV room. I have no doubt that it’s at some point been a bedroom. It never occurred to me that there might be anything illegal about it!

Splitting Up Together? (I never actually watched it but for some reason I remember Oliver Hudson was in a show with that premise so I just looked up his wiki page.) I've seen a handful of episodes of US of Al; forgot they were sleeping in the garage (oddly enough, I actually watched it last night because nothing else was on between this and B Positive).

The one that always nags at my mind is just a line from season 3 episode 5 of The Closer, "The Round File" (2007) with a murder plot focused on an assisted living facility, which causes Detective Julio Sanchez to mutter to the rest of the homicide team, "It kills me -- white people pay all this money to store their families in places like this. We throw some carpet in the garage, everyone's welcome." So, at least on The Closer, the LAPD didn't seem to view people living in their relatives' garage as a crime.

I think in The Unicorn, Wade’s girlfriend let her ex-husband stay in her garage so they could co-parent more easily.

Really didn’t like this episode. So much manipulation and foulness. On one hand the writers are acknowledging the twins are aging, but it looks like they missed Iain’s development. His dialogue feels written for the younger, innocent Sheldon of previous seasons, and WTF, Dale? This Georgie dropping out of high school story needs to end already. They wanted to get the teachers and principal off the payroll? Is George’s job going to be nothing more than referenced?

I think this season has been terrible. Last week was the only episode I’ve liked so far.

As they say on this show (and maybe in Texas?): It's hard to say.

Ostensibly, yes, Dale
"was just talking to the cop because he was worried that she was going to get in trouble.  Not trying to get her shut down."
but then shouldn’t Dale have not told Cop Buddy it was about Connie, or even about the laundromat (likely the only one in town)?

Dale may have been hoping he could go back to Connie with bad news from his Cop Buddy so she wouldn’t buy the laundromat, simply because, as he mentioned to Connie, running a business is a lot of work and aggravation--as we saw in this episode.
Not to mention a business can fail.

But now that Connie has been busted in furtherance of Cop Buddy’s bid for Sheriff, I see 2 possible outcomes for Dale & Connie:

  1. Dale buys the laundromat from her
    1. possibly even at a profit to her
    2. and maybe even sets up a gambling den in the back of his hardware store for her to run
    3. And older Sheldon could do a voiceover that eventually Dale moved into an assisted living facility and Georgie took over the store--the first of Georgie's many successful business ventures
  2. Or this brings about the break up of Dale and Connie

I'm sure that part of the script was based on at least 2 writers sharing that they had peed in utility sinks. 🤮
At least Georgie is honest. I bet he would never "cheat" on a gf. He might tell her he got drunk and seemed to have had sex with someone, but he wouldn't sneak around.
