S23.E31: Double Eviction #2

So was Hannah right? Did Azah really think Hannah was a pawn?

You have to give the jury credit for being very kind and unbitter about the CO. I still sense SB is the angriest. Good for Alyssa for saying she respected Hannahs’s game and would still vote for her to win.

I have to give props to Julie for pulling off this evening so well. What she does on these live shows is 1000 times harder than people realize, keeping the comps and the conversation going seamlessly on the fly, and with, as she said, people constantly screaming things in her earpiece. So much harder than it looks.

First of all before the night began I knew it would be Tiffany and then Hannah.  I say this every season -- double evictions are anti-climatic and whoever you think will go...goes.

I was rooting so hard for Azah to win HOH and make a last ditch effort to turn this whole game around.  Put up Ky and X and one of them would be gone.  There's her big move!

Idiot idiot idiot...that's all I'm going to say.

Azah, blinded by X til the end.  Congrats on 4th place! (that's a huge accomplishment in Big Brother). I'd almost rather X or Ky would have won HOH because then I wouldn't have had even a glimmer of hope.

KY:  There are live feeds.  We have seen exactly how little DerF has done for the past three months. (He couldn't even look directly in the camera because he knew what a lie it was as he was saying it.)  Please don't try to make us think he's some great mastermind that you are nobly saving.  At least X is slightly more honest about wanting to win.

Speaking of DerF, he was so sure that he was safe, he giggled his way through the veto comp.  It was nice to see how panicked he was in the closing credits.  Even though he was never going home, it was good to see him take a little heat.

Either I forgot about X's brother dying or I didn't know, but that's a compelling story, and it explains his single-minded focus.

I still can't believe Ky is voluntarily taking X to the end. Does he hate money?

I have PTSD from Kyland's talks. I literally kept repeating "Oh my God, SHUT UP" over that whole segment representing what a Kyland talk is truly like, or as close as they can get because they couldn't air the entire 40 minutes to 2 hours each of those talks last. I think I need a cup of chamomile tea and a hug now.

So exciting, 2 hrs. & it went pretty much as expected. I thought when Azah won Hoh  there was a chance for a change-up, but no it still played out exactly as though we thought it would.

I still think X will win easily. I guess there is a tiny chance that won't happen, but I'm not putting any money on it !

Oy...Azah looked like a pissed off Charlie Brown to Ky's Lucy.

Tiffany/Hannah's elimination meant nothing to me; karma for betraying Claire/DX, CO or no CO.

Question...was Hannah considered part of the CO from day 1, or was she added at the last minute?

Aarrrrghhhhh!

That is all.

Except to say, I really am proud of what the Cookout accomplished this year.  It was no accident that it was a success; they did a great job. But next year, I want to see women at the end who fight for themselves and do not let the men just take over.  This show has been on for a long time.  You know what the guys are going to do.  Stop making it so easy for them!

Oh, and also: Shut up, Deref!

Unless Hannah was Azah's target, Azah is dumber than I thought.

Hypothetical (on what she should've done IMO):

  • Put up X and Ky. Let's assume that Ky wins veto (since he did). He obviously has to pull himself down.
  • Replace Ky with The Oaf (I refuse to even call the other guy by his name at this point)
  • Ky votes out Oaf Boy. Hannah (who would've been Azah's proxy vote) votes out X
  • Azah casts a tiebreaker vote and gets X out of the house

Hannah would have a reasonable chance at winning the next HoH, and could conceivably keep Azah safe. Now, Azah has virtually no chance unless she manages to somehow pull off another victory in the next PoV.

It seems to me  that Azah outplayed Azah. She certainly did outdo anyone else. If she thinks any of those guys are going to pack her to the Final 2, she's a moron. I think that Azah got so caught up in the idea of having a pawn (which was necessary early in the season when there were many moving parts) that she freaked out when she finally had the power. Oh well, she has no business winning anyway.

As always, go X!

Oh, you could be right. Other than that though, I stand by what I said. Julie still had to pull it all off in a tight timeframe as we've seen her do so many times in the past. And I particularly admire how she interviews shaken evictees without a note in sight. Unlike in her early days, she isn't robotic and really seems to listen to the answers.

IMO Julie has always been an embarrassingly inept host and is now inserting her religious beliefs into this season. CBS should, at the very least, put out a statement that they don’t approve of her behavior.

So it looks like SB is now the only one of the jury members who, with no more s**ts to give, might somehow end up calling out the agenda aka mission which reduced her, Derek X, Claire and Britini into total stooges.

I think Julie does a good job with the live double evictions, but I think she has gone down overall as the host with her jamming in her religious beliefs.

It's so frustrating watching everything continually go X's way. His win will be like shooting fish in a barrel when  you are competing against geldings. Why is it that  year after year one player is surrounded by people that basically escort them to the confetti?

Azah in the last shot looks like someone who realizes they just threw away what little game they had.

Was praying for Chaddah to win HOH or Veto and end X's cake walk but  no....

I'd like to call for an end to Double Eviction episodes. In theory they should be awesome but 9 times out of 10 its always the person who survived the first eviction that goes home. What fun or suspense is that?

The Cookout is on the same level as Nakomis "six finger plan" commonly known as the Backdoor. Something that has long reaching ramifications on the game...good or bad depending on how you feel. The Backdoor has forever ruined any suspense on eviction night and The Cookout  has all but ensured another one can never form again because now that people are aware of such a thing can form they are going to be looking for it and making sure they aren't going to be a Claire and get played as an unwitting pawn.

Jury is giving politically correct answers now (except Sarah Beth...Lord love her for highlighting Ky is a lying liar who gilded the lily with his lies) but I have a feeling once they watch the actual tapes there is going to be a lot of blood boiling, hurt feelings and shattered relationships.

The boring segment of Ky talking nonsense is a harbinger of what is to come as with no drama it will be all filler.

Ky must not like  his family very much if  he is willing to give up $750,000 so he can sit next to X and loose. I imagine his family is down on their knees praying Ky will take Big D or Azah to the end.

Lastly Azah was making me want to jump out of my skin when Tiffany was making her pitch to her. I find people who just lay there like a bump on a log, giving disinterested non-commital answers infuriating and that was Azah to a T right there.

No one seems to remember and Hannah herself may not be aware of it but from what was shown on the televised episodes she was the last edition to The Cookout to the point where people on this board were wondering why she WASN'T part of it.

No offense but is Azah really that dumb!!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

I love that Derek X. expressed total and complete shock that there's been no Black winner of BB before.  That's exactly how I felt!  I've only watched 3 seasons I think.  And I thought that Survivor was bad!  At least there's been several non-white winners, and of different races too!

Does anyone else find it suspicious that they decided to do the first double eviction this season?

I think Hannah was part of the Cookout from the beginning but the other 5 didn’t want to let her know the name.  They thought she might slip up and tell someone the name because she’s young or some other nonsense.

I thought it was funny that Britini still hates Kyland with the fire of a thousand suns.

I think they did that because they were supposed to do a triple last week but they decided against that in order to give the Cookout their moment. (Which I loved)

There's fan theory that it was supposed to be a triple eviction like last year but when they realized that if they did that than the Cookout wouldn't get their Final 6 moment so they split it into two double eviction over two weeks. I believe the original schedule had last week's episode as a 2 hour episode. Considering how hard the show is leaning into this being a historical moment for the show, it makes sense.

I don't know about "most Americans" but certainly the jury phase of this cast and some pre-jurors. The new casting director did a fantastic job with this group.

Thank you; someone else said the same thing.  That's awesome if true.

Are triples normal in this game?

Why does Britni hate Kyland?

I forgot my favourite part of the episode.

Julie:  We need 9 jurors.
Tiff:  We do.
Julie:  Tiffany, do you think that we should send someone else to the jury house tonight?
Tiff:  Julie - WHAT?
Julie:  WHAT?
Tiff:  😮
Tiff:  🤨

Ok, I am Team Anyone But Tiffany or Hannah, so I got very nervous when Azah won hoh. I thank my lucky stars that Azah is so...naive.

That being said, I thought Hannah gave up pretty easily in her talk with Azah. She need to explain it to Azah with stick drawings.

I completely 100% agree.  And Azah targeting Hannah, which I don't believe she did, would be dumb anyways.  Kyland and X do not see any reason to keep any of the women around.

That is the issue.  Unfortunately, the double eviction put things in the pressure cooker and Hannah got snowed.

Last year was the first triple that I’m aware of but I took a break from the show for couple of seasons.

Because when he nominated her (the time she actually was the target), she was going around saying something negative about him and Kyland told her something like it was not in her best interest to say negative things about him.😂

I always wonder why the public is so annoyed by Britini's loudness and exaggerations. I never quite saw her being as over the top as fans made her out to be. Today, I saw it. She bugged the heck out of me.

Also, I think she was the only jury member that didn't have a "I understand the CO'S mission and I respect it" talking head.

It’s not that I don’t care about X’s brother and wanting to help his nephew, but I don’t care X’s brother and wanting to help his nephew in Big Brother. Tiffany has a kid who wants to go to college, too, and she doesn’t even have lawyer money. I’m pretty sure X was angling for a potential juror vote from Ky, and I hate it when they pull out the hard luck stories. It’s irrelevant to the game.

Based on Azah’s shocked reaction, I’m 100% sure she thought X would be going out. She certainly never thought Ky would use the veto on him. (Which kind of makes sense, because who in their right mind would want to keep the biggest threat in the game? Oh yeah, Noble Warrior Kyland, Man among Men, that’s who.) She also thinks Deref is loyal to her, which is another bad read. But even taking a chance by putting her last potential ally up as a pawn? Oh, girl.

We were SO CLOSE to something interesting happening.

I can't believe Derex didn't google "Big Brother Winners" before he left for the show. I like him, but I don't want him to come back since he did no homework before he left. It makes me think he will take the wrong lessons on why he lost especially if he wins AFP.

I like him, too, but I hope he does not get AFP for the simple reason that he is so clueless and ignorant about the game. Let it go to someone who really knows and loves the game, someone who was already a fan and will feel the most validated. Tiffany, Claire and Hannah all fit the bill. Derex was a recruit.

I suspect Azah was simply shell-shocked by her success, and temporarily blinded by the possibilities:

  • This was the first time Azah had won ANY kind of comp - and given past (non-)performance, Azah had to seriously consider the possibility this might be her ONLY win this season.
  • Faced with what might be her sole opportunity to pad her game resume to any degree, Azah felt compelled to try pulling some fancy shit - like, say, BDing a comp beast like Ky.
  • Given the compressed time frame Azah had to make her choices, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the notion of Ky winning PoV and taking X off the Block never occurred to her.

I think Tiffany, at the very least, would have been in a better spot than Derek F or Xavier without the cookout. Who did either of them really have other than Britni or Alyssa, respectively? Tiffany at a minimum had Claire and DX, and even Alyssa and Christian before Christian went out.

I've decided to accept this as true because nothing else could explain her face and body language. If Hannah had been her target like some speculate, there would have been at least a glimmer of joy on her face at accomplishing her goal. Instead she looks like she's waiting to be shot at dawn after being betrayed by her closest ally.
