The week sounds pretty good. However, the ladies should have taken this coming week off and not last week.  Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise because somebody got owned spectacularly on social media..

Good line up this week.  What?  No VYD?  Hopefully not, as any segment with hand creams and tote bags will seem really tone deaf following discussions of recent events.

So glad they'll be back this week. They chose the worst week possible to take a hiatus.

I disagree.  I don't think I could have tolerated listening to Meghan talk about this.

I’m looking forward to a few of the guests this week for the first time in awhile, but Idk if I’m gonna be able to watch it without getting extremely pissed off. I’m sure Meghan will make up for their time off by going completely off the rails.

I hope MM doesn't try to make these shows all about her. Let the Covid parents, Stacey & Kamala talk, please, Meghan.  It is your job to listen.

When do y'all think they will be back in studio? I feel like it definitely won't be until they return after Labor Day post summer break. And *if* then, I doubt they'll have an audience yet. Who knows.

Meg, if you are going to ask about “defunding the police” you need to understand the question yourself.  Thank you, Sunny, for providing the definition since Meg couldn’t be bothered to research it herself.

Meghan decided to go for the "angelic" look today - pale, pale pink and white.  And she was smiling more than she has in weeks.

Meghan says to Whoopie -"...we had a conversation before I came on the show yesterday.".  At first I though Meghan thinks they did a show yesterday.  But then I realized this is just her being her usual inarticulate self, and that she should have just said "we had a conversation yesterday".

It actually sounded to me like Meghan might've wanted to talk to her pal Whoopie to find out how she could best strike the right tone in her comments on today's show.  (If you need help doing that, well...)

Meghan - "This didn't just come from nowhere.  This didn't just come from a silo".

Meghan - "grossly fascinated".

This infuriated me so much I actually found a countdown clock online to time it - Meghan speaks for 1 minute and 36 seconds, then Joy just barely starts to say something and Meghan says, "Yeah, I hear you coming in, Joy" and keeps talking for 6 more seconds.  Then, when Joy does respond to Meghan, she gets to talk for only 19 seconds before Meghan verbally barges in and talks over her for 18 seconds, basically taking up the rest of the segment.

Meghan twice asks, and clearly wants to pin down Sen. Harris on whether she's in favor of defunding the police, but then when Harris asks her to clarify what she means by that term, Meghan says she doesn't know what it means.  (Now that part is understandable.  From what I've read over the weekend, in articles on the CNN and Time websites, "defund the police" doesn't mean the same thing to everybody, despite what Sunny said.)

But to press Sen. Harris on an issue that is clearly still undefined, that Meghan herself admittedly didn't know the meaning of, shows that she still wants to divide people up as being on either the "right" or the "wrong" side of an issue, notwithstanding her opening remarks about unity, and people not retreating to their tribes.

Oh, Sunny.  Stop, stop, stop asking potential nominees about the vp nomination.  Most of them are going to answer the question the same way they did the last time you asked it.  Thank goodness they ran out of time.

Yeah.  Biden needs to pick whoever he thinks he can work the best with and who could be a good president if necessary and whose principles agree with his. If that is a black woman, fine, but to keep on that he HAS to is not helpful.

MeAgain really prepared carefully for her commentary on the protests.  She also has not mastered the teleprompter with her eyes darting to the left as she desperately tries to figure out what to say when it is her turn..

I'll say one nice thing about MeAgain today - she looked *gorgeous*. The pale pink make-up and sateen (?) jacket were stunning. I am constantly amazed at how much ugliness is inside her.

I know she gets a lot of flak on here (including plenty by me lol), but I have always thought she's an absolutely beautiful woman who always looks quite pretty. It's a shame her pretty face is constantly scowling, and it too amazes me how someone with her physical beauty (not to mention health, family she loves, wealth and opportunities) can be such a nasty person.

What is going on with Megan's teeth? Invisible braces perhaps? It's really distracting.

How much longer is Whoopi's contract? She continues to be an awful moderator and I'm tired of her looking like she couldn't be bothered to get dressed for TV.

Please go to Megan's thread and see what she did to get owned. She is truly an idiot in so many ways.

She got owned again and this time by the fabulous Kamala Harris.  Megan is always angry no matter what.

Joy was fabulous today...

I find it distracting too. I noticed weeks ago and wondered if she had gotten lip fillers or something.

I can't wait to see the Kamala interview. I love to see when Meghun's 'gotcha' questions fail... which is basically all the time. 😆

Why is Meghan so obsessed with Ilhan Omar? Did Ilhan bully her when they were younger? Did Meghan say hi to Ilhan one day and Ilhan said "No, I don't speak to people like you."

Why is Ilhan living rent free in Meghan's head that she feels the need to bring her up as much as possible?

Edit: I know Joy hates Trump, but I felt uncomfortable with her glee regarding the protests considering how the protests started and what has happened since. She's happy people are standing up, but these protests didn't just start with Trump, BLM has been an issue for a long time.

Yes. Too giddy and, as she said, "invigorated."   She even attributed the protests to a stay-at-home order. Last week's protests are because of the George Floyd murder, not the quarantine. The quarantine protests were with the fat bearded guys carrying assault rifles and confederate flags about a month ago.

I couldn't remember exactly what she said, so I watched it On Demand, and after Joy says, "It took a stay-at-home order to get people out on the streets" Whoopie reminds her that the protests are about a murder. Joy says, "Of course,  I wasn't forgetting it.  It took a confluence of everything coming together like this for people to actually come out".

On tv they've mentioned the fact that the frustration people are feeling because of the stay at home orders probably did contribute to the number and the size of the protests because it gave people a legitimate and important reason to get out.   It occurred to me early on that a lot of people there wouldn't have been able to take part if they weren't home because they still had a normal work schedule, or needed to get up early the next morning.

Joy did start out her comment with, "52 years ago there was a tremendous outpouring and civil disobedience and the result was the end of the Viet Nam war".  I don't know if you can say those protests had anything to do with ending the war, since it lasted for another 7 years.  (Added - the U.S. withdrew all of it's forces two years before that.)

Re-watching it, her demeanor was definitely jarring.  Joy's been so frustrated these past 3 and a half years, she's probably just happy to see such large numbers of people out in the streets and taking a stand.

Good grief, Joy. Stick to the topic. She was asked about defunding the police and threw in everything from abortion to the Catholic Church.

Meg is still on her high horse but she is right that “defund” sounds scary.  And now she’s waxing rhapsodic about how wonderful this country is for allowing peaceful protesting... unless your name is Colin Kaepernick.

When Joy said "Fifty two years ago..." she was referring to 1968 and our involvement in Vietnam ended five years later. US troop levels had reached their peak in '68 (536,100).

Looking at troop levels five years in each direction: 1963 (16,300) and 1973 (50).

The anti-war movement began in '64 but the huge demonstrations in '68 had everything to do with ending the war and they also ended the military draft system.

The government was taught that the people would not tolerate a draft during unpopular wars; the draft was last implemented in 1973 and the armed forces went all-volunteer.

Every war since then has relied on enlisted personnel supplemented by National Guard units which have served repeated rather than singular deployments.

Joy got this one right.

It really threw me.  While I understand her happiness at people taking this seriously unfortunately it took a man being murdered on video to get people into the streets.  No smiles for me about this.

So now that Sunny has explained Defund the Police, MeAgain says she is very aware of what it means and that it is just a confusing slogan.  She said she spent a lot of time learning about what it means.  It did seem like Whoopi set that up  by having Sunny splain it at the top of the show.  MeAgain didn't like that, I am sure, and also that Sunny and Joy spoke too long because then she said she didn't know if she had enough time to respond. (I think it was on that topic.)

Both Sunny and Joy wanted to chime in after MeAgain's comments but Whoopi put her foot down, and appeared to want to slap down MeAgain's efforts to suggest that Dems do mean shut down the police, when she cited Ilhan Omar's comments.  Whoopi redirected it.

Later in the show Chris Wallace said Sunny's explanation was the best one he had heard.  That must have irked MeAgain.

MeAgain says Defund the Police great slogan for Trump's campagn

He said he learned more from Sunny than he had known before, implying that Fox staff are about as interested in learning what the term means as Meghan is. Which is not at all.
Except as a tool for fear mongering.

So NOW Megs is all FOR peaceful protests.  Oh.  Okay.

I wonder if Meghan regrets some of the stuff she's said in the past and is too prideful to admit it or if she just doesn't want to deal with the wrath of the media if she were to be more about the flag than black lives. She said once the worst thing you could call her is a racist, but for so long she seemed to care more about scoring points with her party.

I appreciate Sunny thoughtfully explaining in the beginning of the show. That is the example of a host who comes in prepared. Sunny isn't a know it all, nor is confused and going for gotcha questions.

As much as I hate to ever agree with Meghan, who I cannot stand, I think she is right about the terminology about defunding the police.  I think Trump's crowd will adopt this as a campaign issue and his people will just accept how he defines it and this could hurt the Democrats at the polls.

Just change the wording that is used to reform or  something.

I liked how Joy connected all three issues..  She spoke about the corruption in both the Catholic church and the Police departments for years that  have allowed bad actors to continue to harm people and protecting them with their silence. Silence is complicity..   I also think she spoke about all of those issues because she has no idea when she would get to speak again so she had to get it out because motormouth/Nutmeg always has to talk and talk and talk.. I have never seen somebody so miserable, she has a scowl on her face everyday, how is it possible for her to be that way without fail..
