Ashley is 24 and lives alone. Her only sources of comfort are food and the relationships she has online. But not a single one of her profiles is real. Soon, Ashley learns that Dr. Now isn't someone she can lie to like her online friends.

This is the regular episode thread.  It will be open after the US East Coast showing.

Original air date 2020.04.08

Wow, I don't even know what to say about Ashley. Is she mentally ill or just an extremely vile psychic vampire? Nothing is her fault, she is always the victim. "No one talks to me that way....not even my mom." Perhaps that is the problem, she was never held responsible for anything ever.

I'm watching now, and was reading the live chat and came over.
So I'm at the point where she came back, and she said something about when she got home from work, but I didn't think she worked.  What does she do?

I see, this is how her family found out. The catfish reality shows. Then she wanted to be on my 600 pound life, but she didn't weigh 600 pounds so she lied to the show.

She also said she did nothing all day and the she lied to Dr. NOW and said she came after work! Lies just rolling off. But you can't lie to Dr. Now. The first person to ever call her out on her lies and she has a meltdown.

Good call on Lola diagnosing borderline personality. I'm not familiar but I googled it and it seems to fit

They are highly sensitive to the slightest criticism, therefore Dr. Now sent her over the edge.

She's an entire mess. BPD is very difficult to treat, so I have zero hope of her ever making any meaningful change.

First time posting on this forum.  Before I retired I worked in an institutional setting for adult with severe behaviors.  I was part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of Physicians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Behavior Specialists, etc.  We were charged with developing behavior plans so these folks could be returned to a community setting.  For individuals with the diagnosis of BPD they were essentially impossible to deal with and meds weren’t particularly helpful.  In private, among ourselves, we would refer to BPD as folks with “broken brains.”  Not holding out a lot of hope for Ashley and not surprised with her outburst and smirking capitulation to Dr. Now.

My friend the psychologist said something similar about BPD. Meds don't help, and they're particularly resistant to therapy. It's one of the few types of patients that my friend refuses to treat because it's too much.

Ashley is a very unlikable person.  To me she has the same personality as Nene Leakes of RHOA.  Very disrespectful of others but turns it around as them being disrespectful to her.  Everything has to center around her, but anything bad that she does is somebody else's fault.  If I was Dr. Now I wouldn't have taken her back.  She's a smartass to the nth degree.  And she's a pathological liar who gets upset if you don't believe her lies to the point of making physical threats.  Her sarcastic asshole answers to Dr. Nows questions made me want to jump through the screen and punch her lights out.  I don't see any success for her.

This heffa needs to realize she needs them, they don't need her.  And her overtly sarcastic facial expressions are not cute.  In fact, nothing about her is cute.  And she's a mouth breather.  And watching her close ups when her friend was taking her pictures I noticed that she has the same facial features as Hervé Villechaize.

Ashley could be Schenee's younger sister. They are a match in the Bitch from Hell category of Poundticipants.  I actually said out loud to the screen "Don't you DARE talk to him like that!" when she was kicking off at Dr Now.  The reaction of her friends ("oh no... don't do it ...") shows that they have seen this side of her many times in the past.  This is a woman who isn't used to hearing the word 'No'.

I agree that she's fake. I don't buy it for a minute that she weighed 600lbs but lost over 100lbs before she went to see Dr Now. Once she had to be on Dr Now's actual weight loss diet, she couldn't lose more than a few pounds.

(Also, looking at that Catfish clip, is Kamie Crawford is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous or what?)

I think on the second visit they should not get past the weigh in to see Dr. Now if they did not meet their weight loss goal. They can be told to go back and try again. If they fail on the third visit they can be told nothing further can be done for them since they are not doing their part. This could save a boat load of trouble for everyone.

For the first time since I started watching this show a few years ago and joining this group two years ago I had to punch out early.  Just could not take this lying sack of crap any further.  I don't mind watching the disasters/train wrecks but this was too much.  SOMEONE...ANYONE....at TLC needs to do a better job of screening people for this show.  If the snarkers can find out all about someone's background in minutes, so can the producers.

So this cretin not only lied about losing weight, but has a full time job as a catfish?    When she stomped out, they should have stopped her at the door when she was coming back in, and say she's out of the program, and trespass her from the property.    This was just a two hour audition for this woman to have her own show, but no one ever will do that, because she's boring, and stupid.

I kept wondering why those two perfectly normal people, who clearly found her behavior embarrassing, were with her at all. The woman especially did not seem engaged with her.  My friend thought maybe they were pastors doing a good deed, which could make sense. But I checked the beginning again; Ashley said they were her neighbors, and the man was shown saying he believes everyone deserves a chance. So Ashley apparently really has to rely on the kindness of (relative) strangers because she has alienated EVERYONE? She couldn’t even follow through on making amends because no one will speak to her

@Chicklet, I dig your lid.

This chick is AWFUL. I don't believe for one second she ever weighed 600 lbs. And since her entire life was being a giant manipulative phony online, I'm sure she thought she could con Dr. Now into surgery. And truthfully, I think just being on the show and getting more attention was all she really wanted in the long run. Terrible person.

Wow, that clip from Catfishing! OMG

It made no sense to me she kept saying "I've been dieting before I got here so Dr. Now will see I'm serious" but then she NEVER said to him I started dieting already so you would see I'm serious. She claimed it fell off due to depression. That was just one of her many, many lies.

Why she was not screened better. She wasn't even fat enough for this show.  They have never taken a 475 pound person.

MATKAT -thanks for your input. I didn't know anything about Borderline Personality. Welcome to the forum. Jeez what made you finally post!

I did really enjoy Dr. Now being the first person ever to call her on her bullshit. When she said "my mother doesnt even talk to me like this"- maybe she should have!

I actually think she's a professional wanna-be famewhore. Who even knows if the MTV Catfish show is legit? All of those MTV shows are "scripted" reality -- they feature real people in scripted situations.

Here's another clip of another appearance on Catfish that was posted by MTV less than a month ago. Ashley's wearing the same braids she had in her hair that she wore on M600LL so it's clear she was filming both shows at the same time. There's no way the producers of this show didn't know that -- in much the same there's no way they didn't know she NEVER weighed anything close to 600 pounds.

Whoever is in charge of sifting through the applicants for this show has seriously dropped the ball this season. Their vetting system SUCKS! Ashley isn't the first one that we've suspected was on it for the publicity and a 'career' boost. Do they NOT check to see if they've done any reality shows prior or made You Tube videos?

Or maybe this show has sunk to a new level of low that they just don't care or maybe it's possible the only ones they can find are the deceitful bottom feeders (no pun intended) because the legit ones want no parts of this show anymore.

If this personality disorder cannot be helped with therapy or medication she is headed for a miserable and friendless life. Probably a much shortened life due to obesity.

She threatened Dr. Now on camera - I think... I couldn’t always catch what she said. But that’s pretty serious isn’t it?  It was when she stomped off and was getting into the car.

What a temper...wow !

if I were a legit person that was super obese I would be put off by the idea of TLC filming me in the bathroom.

She's beyond "borderline personality."  Check the behaviors of a sociopath listed below.  I've bolded the ones we saw just last night.

  • Disregard for right and wrong
  • Persistent lying or deceit to exploit others
  • Being callous, cynical and disrespectful of others
  • Using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or personal pleasure
  • Arrogance, a sense of superiority and being extremely opinionated
  • Recurring problems with the law, including criminal behavior
  • Repeatedly violating the rights of others through intimidation and dishonesty
  • Impulsiveness or failure to plan ahead
  • Hostility, significant irritability, agitation, aggression or violence
  • Lack of empathy for others and lack of remorse about harming others
  • Unnecessary risk-taking or dangerous behavior with no regard for the safety of self or others
  • Poor or abusive relationships
  • Failure to consider the negative consequences of behavior or learn from them
  • Being consistently irresponsible and repeatedly failing to fulfill work or financial obligations

I’m just a bit shy about posting here but I am familiar with Ashley’s behaviors and wanted to share.  Most people don’t recognize the behaviors associated with BPD and are perplexed when they encounter them.   I just happened to have a more concentrated contact with BPD than a lot of people.

Dr. Now did a good job pinning Ashley down but she will likely ignore his advice anyway.  Dealing with these people is like hitting your head against a brick wall.

I don’t post much but love the snark on this forum.  The only other time I have posted is in regard to one of the crime shows which did a segment on what was called “The Bugs Bunny Defense”.  I was friends and worked with the woman who was convicted of killing her husband referenced on this show.

I may not post all the time, but I appreciate all the witty folk here.  Snark away!

Matkat, as much as people here say Lola is a terrible therapist, I think it is good that she diagnosed this. I guess she does know what she is doing. She did seem really concerned right away though.

With BPD, Lola should have been glad the camera man was there.    Ashley was so out of control, that I'm wondering what happened after this show aired, and her other misdeeds were made public.

I'm very glad when Dr. Now confronted Ashley that the camera people were there, and the staff apparently cleared out any waiting patients, and staff.   No one in sight when Ashley, and her buddies went back was interesting.     When Dr. Now pulled out the medical records, and proved Ashley was a liar I was laughing so hard.    However, at the same time I was worried for Dr. Now's safety.

I like Lola and am glad she brought some clarity to the situation but BPD’s are not known for their introspective qualities.  However, I admit it, I am shallow.  First I look at her hair and then her clothes.  She never disappoints.

Even before the diagnosis, it seemed to me that Lola’s demeanor was not her typical friendly, chit-chat style. She seemed tense and very apprehensive. My bet is that she knew immediately that something was very “off” with Ashley.

She reminds me of my mother 😕 whenever Ashley is being "nice"  you can see the strain on her face because deep down she's a hellbeast and being phony-nice takes everything out of her.

Since we're coming clean, here is a picture of me and my two kids vacationing on a paper plate:

Me, too. I don’t think she was buying everything Ashley said, even though she appeared to. I think she was just encouraging Ashley to keep spilling so she could get a fuller picture of the crazy.

I also think Dr Now let her go on and on so he could keep observing and maybe figure out how to get through - he does care and it is his job to try to help these patients. He managed to defuse the anger but she’s not interested in hearing anything from anyone.
