Uncle Jack, you keep dragging Phyllis, uninvited, along to these family functions and they're going to start giving you the wrong dates and addresses.  Bringing Phyllis along to Chance and Abby's first Christmas with DA BABY could have only been made worse if you'd had Baby Brother ButtBiscuit tag along.

Jack reminds me of social commentators who repeat the same lie until they actually have convinced themselves the lie is truth. Eventually they persuade enough people, and the lie is codified into gospel.

By including Phyllis in every Abbott-related holiday gathering seems to be as much a plan to make her palatable to the Abbott's as it is to convince himself that Phyllis has changed. If only Jack could hear the insincerity, ridicule and treachery in her conversations. Tracy wasn't fooled by Phyl and Ashley will be civil, but they will be candid with their disgust with Phyllis returning to the Abbott Mansion and Jack's bed. And Jack will be determined to defend Phyllis until she makes a fool of him again.

Jack has convinced himself the lie that Phyllis has human, loving, altruistic feelings and deserves another 5000 chances to prove it with him on top of her.

Quote

Abby's never going to get those stains out, never.

And into Bowie's Miracle Baby Holy Relic Memory trunk.

Quote

Phyllis is right about her kids - they are a testament to her.  Daniel, who was mostly raised by Danny Romalotti with help from Cricket and his sister turned out pretty well, all things considered.  His time having Phyllis heavily involved in his life was often disastrous, culminating when she forced him to keep the baby he had with Daisy who he'd originally let ButtBiscuit and Victoria adopt.  There's a reason he left town and rarely returned and it's not because of her great mothering.  Granddaughter Lucy doesn't seem to be too interested in Grandma Phyllis, either.

As much as I liked Daniel fighting Phyllis for control of his own life, walking away from Genoa City and separating himself and Lucy from Phyllis' next manipulation was the perfect end to his story. Leaving Phyllis behind, feeling bereft she had lost Daniel, is her occasional punishment when she chooses to remember Daniel at all.

Quote

Dummer, on the other hand, is a testament to what it's like having Phyllis actually raise a child.  She's moronic, self-centered, grasping, not-too-bright and inexplicably resembling a near relative of Donald Duck.  Or as Jack says, she's "as smart as they get".

One thing Dummer did right and that's go live on another continent.

Dumber is the genuine article of Phyllis' parenting and disordered self-indulgence.

Phyllis got back exactly what she put into her children.

Quote

Show was so baby heavy today, it was hard to avoid all the talk of life's greatest miracle.  Baby Dominic got an obscene number of gifts while behind the scenes Amanda was advocating ways Devon can permanently alienate Abby and Chance under the guise of spending time with the baby while on that other planet spinning out of orbit, Tessa and Mariah were discussing adopting.

It was an embarrassment of riches for Bowie's first Christmas. By the time he puts on his last Christmas onesie, he will have outgrown them all.

How do Tessa and Maria plan to adopt when they still live in a transient hotel, have a variety of misdemeanors in their past, Mariah has played incubator and adoption pushes her all Baby Rabies buttons?

Quote

I hope they consider an older child.

giphy.gif

Someone to play with baby Dominic.

<Yipe!>

For all the desperate couch boinking between Abby and Chance I expect a true Miracle Baby is in the offing for the reunited couple. Chance will miraculously be shooting with live ammo and Abby will have regrown a working reproductive system.

So let it be written by TIIC, so let it be done.

Quote

Amanda - just because Devon gave Abby some fuel doesn't mean he gets to keep the car.  Devon should know better than to take advice from somebody who considers Phyllis and ButtBiscuit good friends.

Hillary 2.0 keeps pressing the point it will serve Darvon best to position himself more prominently in Bowie's life. And the more the subject is mentioned, the more attractive the prospect is for Darvon. He says he doesn't want to intrude, but Darvon doesn't stop entertaining the idea he is the ideal father for Bowie. It makes no difference to Hillaru 2.0 that she operated as Darvon's lawyer to sign away all his rights and liabilities to the result of his sperm donation to Abby and Chance. Everything is negotiable and subject to change. Hillary 2.0 can show up at the Chancellor Mansion, enjoy the Christmas hospitality of Abby and Chance, knowing she's finagling Darvon to claim Bowie as his son, and not have a tick of self-reproach. Darvon feigns humility, but covets Bowie as he slow walks to completion of his lost Hillary 1.0 relationship and Bowie makes three.

I almost forgot.

When Devon pulled that music box out of the bag for Dominic I almost yelled at the screen, "Not again!"  Remember the utter tedium of Jill's Music Box storyline after Katherine died?  That's when Colin was still around.

When I think things can't get worse, between ButtBiscuit's goings-on

and "You gotta see the BABY" nonsense,

giphy.gif

(too good to pass up such bad taste)

I remember that Colin could still be around.... and Cane ...... and that blasted music box.

Disguises are a Spectra Family specialty, so Original Sally would be so disappointed in Sally's lame attempts.  For one thing, you need to switch it up.  Don't wear the same disguise four days in a row, and certainly don't wear a Mata Hari disguise when you're, you know, spying on somebody. Original Sally would have dressed like Wayne Newton to spy on Billy's fake poker game.

As soon as I read this, I looked up at my tv and it was the end of an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore show and Darlene Conley was a jail warden and had a line! I heard that voice and flipped! Wow.

They have better wardrobe and make-up over on B&B. And better writing. And Sheila and Deacon.

What the hell was Sharin' wearing. That white sweater made her look like the mummy coming unwrapped.

Sharon's nose looks like it is melting down toward her lip.  I suppose it could be from too much Botox in her forehead & between the eyebrows, which gives her that wide-eyed stunned look and no muscle control above and around the nose.

The holiday decorations at Lily and Billy's place were kind of lame, I think, for two relatively well-off and creative people. Meanwhile, at the Newman ranch it looked like Santa's elves came in, got drunk on Victor's tequila, and went berserk. 🤪

And again, I thought Sharon must've stopped by the tire shop on the way to work and they overinflated various parts of her face. Hope you used a coupon for that sevice, Sharon. 😼

Doesn't Nick have any guy pals? Seems like lately he's always talking about his life with Sharon. IMO it would be okay if she weren't his ex-wife and not exactly objective about certain issues and people. *cough*Phyllis*cough*

Victoria sure does a lot of work. You'd think one of the main benefits of being CEO is delegating number-crunching and other analysis to her subordinates.

Sally's belt buckle was almost as big as her head, ha ha. And usually I like the blowouts but hers maybe needed the ends trimmed a bit.

Lol, they couldn't show a flashback of Adam presenting Chelsea with the lake house back in the day because that was two (?) Adams ago.

A casual Cane and Sam mention. So do they live in Hawaii now or is that just where they're vacationing with Mattie and Charlie?

Is it wrong that I was sorta hoping Connor would skate over a thin spot on the frozen pond and fall in? He bugs me. 😉

Okay, "Intimate Apparel" is real Broadway show, and rather relevant to Lily's interests. Good job, Billy, you huge Springsteen fan you. Hmm, I would've had him pegged as more of a Coldplay stan. 🙄

Chelsea called Sally's fashion coup with Victoria's wedding dress "old news" right to Sally's face. She must be itching for a Red 2.0 smack down. If anything, Chelsea 2.0 or whatever she's calling her collection of design travesties now is indeed history, along with whatever street cred she had before she went psycho.

Floor sex. Well, that might be slightly better than doing it on the couch where Billy's kids will be sitting, but ouchies. Hope it was a thick carpet, else Lily and Billy have a chiropractor on call.

Look at Nick feeling the Christmas spirit and offering an olive branch to his BIL. Ashland looked to me like he not only wasn't buying it, he'd just as soon Nick died in his sleep. 🥳

Why do I feel that if you gave Connor a haircut you would find the numbers 666 on his head?

It’s nice to know that Sam is alive as with Cane and spending time with Matty and Charlie.  Being in Hawaii is so much better than spending time with Nostrils the Weasel and Lily.  In fact, spending time in Nome, Alaska would be a lot better than the alternative.

Today’s conversations:

Lily/Nostrils the Weasel = 🤢🤢🤮🤮

Sharon/Banana Breath the Pompous = 🤢🤢🤮🤮

Sally/Adam = 😇😇 that is until Chelsea showed up. Why is Chelsea seeming more in the know in the fashion industry than Sally?  Chelsea didn’t burn any bridges?  WTF!  Didn’t she double cross Lauren with amassing her rainy day fund?  It looks like Chelsea is going to keep the more talented and experienced Sally under her thumb.

Do you know what would be 1000 times better than a shirtless Nostrils the Weasel?  A shirtless Victor 😜.

Oh, I almost forgot. By Bowie constantly wearing his little head warmer, he’s channeling his inner Meg Griffin from Family Guy.

A day late on this, but I was disappointed- although not surprised- in Jack bringing Phyllis over to the Chancellor house.  Abby and Chance don't need that poison in their lives, and that's actually how she behaved.  But hey, Jack's trying to passively get laid here, so anything goes.

Unintentional highlight of the day- creepy lonely Nick leering in a booth over at Victoria and Locke Ness, then playing pocket pool wandering over to them.  He might wish he never said anything at all after that death stare of Ashland's.

Lowlight- pretty everything else, starring the Rudolph cosplaying Buttbiscuit.  Can someone roast his tiny chestnuts on an open fire?

Why is Mark Grossman always in same jacket, vest and silk shirt 4 days out of the week? Does the wardrobe department hate him? Are they trying to pad him because he’s always so gaunt and pale looking? Just random thoughts. Is Connor going back boarding school with Maddie and Charlie anytime soon? He’s so annoying the way he’s always skipping around. Send him away and have MCE get back to playing bitch on wheels Chelsea. The sets look nice but I still haven’t seen the Abbott house decorated. It probably didn’t make the budget cut this year. They may have used that money for Courtney Hope’s wig and black ensemble (which actually she looks great in).

Better wardrobe: Depends on the day, this past year tho? You wouldn't know you were watching a soap opera centered around fashion designers unless someone told you. And whoever told you, you'd rightfully assume they're on crack.

Better writing: 596011820_Thormeme.png.40749c2df994cbbc1b3b03d50e1f25cc.png

Y&R writers create new lines for each new day of worship at Baby Dominic's alter, at least. B&B has been recycling lines that were stale back when we were all posting on TwoP.

Gotta savor the small victories, you know? ;)

I can’t argue about the wardrobe on B&B because I am too busy gawking at their awful train wreck wigs to even notice what people are wearing. But I will come to the defense of the Y&R writers. They ain’t Shakespeare, but they do manage to write for more than one story line at a time, and don’t repeat the same dialogue for a month at a time. I can only watch B&B about once a week because it’s slow pace drives me BONKERS.

Maybe his girlfriend SC chooses his clothes and she doesn't want him out here looking too sexy for those thirsty hoes Sally and Chelsea. 😉

Quote

Is Connor going back boarding school with Maddie and Charlie anytime soon?

Time flies because Mattie and Charlie are in college now. In fact, Mattie might be in graduate school already. They said not too long ago that she had transferred from whatever Ivy she was attending to Stanford (Neil's alma mater). Who knows what's going on with Connor. They don't seem know what do with him except have him only interact with adults.

Quote

Dominic may well be the first planned pregnancy in 20 years.

Wasn't Bella Fisher planned, at least on Chloe's part? I think maybe her next kid, Miles, was planned too.

Quote

They have better wardrobe and make-up over on B&B.

Maybe on the makeup but I gotta give a thumbs down on the wardrobe. IMO the outfits on B&B wear the characters instead of the other way around. They're too costume-y in my view. At least on Y&R most of the clothes seem like stuff real people would wear and not like things you'd only see on a fashion show catwalk.

Quote

And better writing.

Well, the bar is low but as bad as Y&R is I have to give it to them for writing. I think B&B tends to be very repetitive, with the same basic dialogue being reused over and over--with minor changes--for weeks at a time. I guess it's easier on the actors but it also must be mind-numbing at some point.

And I think Brad Bell seems to have some odd ideas on such things as consent in sexual activity, interracial relationships, and adultery. Sometimes I think he's writing more for B&B's large international audience than the U.S. one. For example, never in a million years did I think a daytime soap would present what was basically a cuckolding fetish storyline involving a married White couple and her Black lover. There's a whole genre of porn for such a scenario, NTTAWWT. 🤣

Then there's the lack of any gay characters on a show based in the fashion industry in LA. That's pretty much science fiction, lol. Among the remaining soaps, B&B is uniquely behind the times on weaving in same-sex relationships.

Quote

And Sheila and Deacon.

Oy, damning with faint praise. 😏 I'm okay with Deacon but hard, hard, hard pass on Sheila and the actress who plays her.

I didn’t know Faith was a Vulcan. “Live long and prosper”.

Did TIIC really have to spoil my Christmas Eve and concentrate on the ass hole known as Banana Breath the Pompous and listen to him bloviate.  Listening to Banana Breath the Pompous and Nostrils the Weasel I’m more and more convinced that they share the same brain and attitude. The world belongs to them. The only difference between the two of them is that, at times, Banana Breath the Pompous has the capability of being a little less of an ass hole. Case in point is where Banana Breath the Pompous feels remorse in his actions that led to Cassie’s death and Nostrils the Weasel really has no remorse for being a catalyst to DD’s death.

It was great to see Mariah playing Cassie once again. Cassie saved the day.

So Noah got better dealt.  It happens to the best of us. “Greensleeves” in the background was an added touch to Noah’s pain.  TIIC just couldn’t leave a tender moment between father and son alone. Rodan the Petty kills the vibe as usual.

Has anyone else noticed that Nu Faith is a much better actress when she’s not around Moses.  She’s getting right up there with old Faith and much closer to Mariah and Tessa.

Faith gives Banana Breath the Pompous a long list of positives, with “Silent Night” playing in the background trying to make his deeds sound more saintly but it still doesn’t erase the fact that he’s still mostly ass hole. As a side note, Adam’s list of saintly accomplishments might note be as long but it’s just as impressive. All and all, Olive basically has none.

Of course things go all wonky at the mere mention of Summer. 😒

Huh, so Adam gets invited to Nick's Very Special Family Dream World but Abby doesn't?

Love how in even in a Nick-centered episode we had to hear Victor brag about growing up in an orphange. Again. What a weird thing to be so proud of that you're still yapping about it when you're 157-years old.

Hmm, maybe the reason Noah is so mopey is because his mommy still dresses like a teenybopper(😏) and his daddy is a big whiny baby.

And then Phyllis shows up in her sparkly mylar dress looking like one of Captain Kirk's alien babes from another galaxy. (The Planet Needless Whispering). "It's dead, Jim."

Pshht, who knows how many more kids and baby mamas Nick would have if Noah, Faith, or Christian died. He can't handle the grief! Give him a medal!

Was Nick's Santa costume padded? He was looking a lot heftier I thought there at the end.

Guess Kyle and Harrison don't rate a cameo. Oh well. 😑

Has HK had some work done? Her eyes looked a little pulled-back to me. I can't imagine though why someone her age would already be getting a face-lift. Maybe it was just her makeup. 🤔

Show, don't tease me with those previews. You know darn well Adam and Sally won't be doing nothing together. Emphasis on "nothing."

¡Feliz Navidad! Be safe, all ye Preverts.

Merry Christmas to all!!  If you don’t celebrate Christmas than Happy Holidays to all!

Off topic but I have a precautionary covid story to share with you.  Take it as you may

My son tested positive for covid even though he had covid once before and is fully vaccinated. He lives in Denver but he came to NY in advance to see a concert with 4 of his friends. They all wore masks except when they were drinking adult beverages.  They shares a hotel room. My son and two other friends, who were also vaccinated, tested positive. One friend, who was vaccinated, didn’t get covid.

My daughter, who is a doctor, is fully vaccinated and constantly wears a mask at the office and in the operating room, tested positive for covid. None the patients she treats, tested positive for covid.

Both my son and daughter said that the first 48 hours were the worse and they testes negative after 7 days.

They truly are two sides of the same entitled, manchild token. Adam has legitimately wronged Nick re: his children multiple times, but Nick often comes across as the more punchable of the two because it just comes off as him just wanting to fight for no reason. Even his one leg to stand on about Faith being switched is shaky after knowing he'd hidden Summer's questionable paternity her entire life because he felt entitled to a new daughter after losing Cassie. No other character has this effect on me like Nick does, not even the ogre formerly known as Ridge.

And Adam? What's left to even say at this point?

In the spirit of the day, I figure I'll just share a couple (mostly positive) observations from Friday's ridiculous episode.  Besides, you lovely people already roasted the eye roll worthy crap way better than I could.

I think NuFaith is an excellent addition to the show.  I'm not sure if it's technically good acting, but she's just a charming presence and plays off so well with everyone except (unfortunately) her so called romantic interest.

CG played Cassie is always fun for me, despite it usually being these silly dream sequences.  She's so good that she immediately makes you understand that the character is clearly Cassie or Mariah.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, and hope you all had a wonderful day.

IMO Given his caveman antics regarding Christian, when Adam first came back. I would say that he's pretty much lost that leg already.

I'm sure, I was supposed to be rooting for Nick to raise Christian but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Even knowing the backstory of how Sage lied, Nick still came off as bullish, unsympathetic and insufferable. And he got his way in the end(again). At this point Nick whining about how bad Adam is. just has the reverse effect. At least to me lol

Same.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas/holiday!

IMO Given his caveman antics regarding Christian, when Adam first came back. I would say that he's pretty much lost that leg already.

I always thought they should have gifted Christian to Sharon. Yeah she was wrong not to come clean when she realized she didn’t have a baby but Nick played a part with first with the wacky doctor and later by being too dumb not to figure out that Sages baby didn’t die. Adam’s not really a kid person and Nicks too horny to be a good dad.  Sharon’s probably the most kid friendly. She’s usually married to a nice guy and at some point she’ll circle back to Christians dads.

Nope.

It took forever for Sharon to admit she wasn't CAN's birthmother, while she used Dylan's desperation to hang on to both Dylan and CAN. She would still be lying about CAN if not forced to confess the truth, with the help of a DNA test.

Sharon was crazier than an outhouse rat with MyPolar and in no condition to take care of an infant. Plus, Dylan was already walking out the door toward Witness Protection and the Divorce Express Lane.

Nick wasn't the best parental choice, but he had the most stable and consistent childcare for CAN. Atonal was/is still a Genoa City pariah, still dreaming up more revenge fantasies against his family, with Chelsea bringing up the criminal rear -- No one deserves to be dropped into that household. Connor is a manipulative and creepy enough product of Chelz/Atonal. And after all this time, Atonal makes no mention of CAN or attempts to connect with him.
