Why is everyone now assuming that Mariah was abducted by someone from either Mariah's or Tessa's sketchy past?  Mariah is carrying The Naked Heiress' heir.  Isn't that the most plausible explanation for the kidnapping of a person who is filthy-rich adjacent?

Today may have been the first episode in about 35 years that didn't have Phyllis front and center.  At least it feels that way.  Now that Amanda and Phyllis are besties, I'd love for Devon to mention to Amanda that funny anecdote about the time Phyllis pushed his adopted mom off a cliff.  Because Phyllis is so "badass"...

The CL barista looks so much like a young Eva Longoria.  Maybe she's Isabella's daughter, out for revenge!

Does it matter?  It’s whatever TIIC say Elena is. One day Elena is in the residency  program and the next day she passes her boards and becomes a fully licensed doctor.

Naty Nate Nate is Chief of Surgery without being able to operate anymore. Go figure.

Chief of Surgery is an administrative position, so that actually makes sense. But I could swear we’ve heard Elena mention working in the ER before. Between that and the clinic I really thought she was an internist.
This show is so weak sometimes.

Victor was wearing the Leather Jacket of Virility because he had to try to look intimidating confronting Ashland.  Remember when he wore it as his fight gear to go and throw down with JT in a backalley, but it was actually Nick standing there in a mask?  A lost Golden era in comparison to now.

Nikki, fuck off.  I find her Murderista tendency darkly humorous most of the time, and I like her anyway, but I just can't with anyone or anything defending Dummer at this point.  Maybe go have a drink at the GCAC and stumble out for old time's sake.

I think I'd prefer that Ashland wasn't faking, because he's working so well with Victoria and he'd never be allowed to get away with it.  But I'd kind of like if were.  The Newmans deserve to get bodied by something diabolical like that.

Phyll Us appreciation day?  They...want people to actually watch, right? The Phyllis and Nick stuff is getting so over the top I'm wondering if they're about to blow up.

If only they'd actually blow up....

Not much to add to today's drama of Abby talking to her phone, Sharon stoned to her eyeballs, Victor being even more sociopathic than usual and Faith's invisible friend, Mr. Howdy, except.....

I HATE that bullshit from both Nick and Victor today about "protecting" Victoria and/or thinking they get to decide whether or not Ashland is good enough for Victoria.  Who thinks that macho crap is still appropriate?  I hope Ashland drop kicks that superannuated board shorts bro all the way across town into Phyllis' gaping maw.

Rant over.

When I was watching I kept thinking the writers must've forgotten how old Victoria is. She's been around a number of blocks and doesn't need little bro and big daddy protecting her honor at this point. I didn't know what to make of it. That's the kind of crap B&B would pull because they have a large international audience, some of whom are in places where women are indeed treating like chattel.

What I'm actually dreading is Victor pulling some move like figuring it all out at the last minute and then having Ashland arrested at the wedding. Victoria could go "An arrest at my wedding, Dad? Again?"

It's like every other profession in this god-forsaken city.

  • A Lawyer can handle any corporate, probate, criminal (in any jurisdiction in the world!), family, civil law case that pops up. [see: Michael and Amanda]
  • A Family Scion who has attended business classes at GCU for at least six weeks and interned for a couple more in the 'corporate office in NYC' can run conglomerates and start whole new subsidiaries. [see: Nick, Victoria, Kyle and Billy, oh and Dummer]
  • A Person who bakes really good muffins can become a world-renown chef and have her own tv show. [see: oh, you know who I mean]
  • Having any Medical Degree entitles you to practice any kind of medical specialty from family practice to nuclear brain surgery. [see: every fcuking doctor that's ever been on the show or hired by Victor as his personal doctor]

Why is Nikki seemingly promoting teenage sex?  I guess Nikki was all for it as a teenager. Maybe next Nikki may want for Faith to follow in her footsteps as an exotic dancer.  How tall is Moses?  Faith is 5’5” and he towers over her.  Moses better put a helmet on his soldier or we are going to get a PSA on teenage pregnancy.

What I don't understand is Nicki promoting a Teen Scene Romance when Faith is allegedly still in court ordered alcohol treatment. Every Friend Of Bill's is aware starting a personal relationship in the first year of treatment/sobriety is seriously frowned on. It's a distraction from working on your substance abuse issues, and Faith has a boat-load of issues that have not been directly addressed since Moses showed up.

Nick has good reason to intervene with their kissing in the park, and neither he or Sharon should be laissez faire that Faith is in a friendship/budding romance with Moses. They might believe Moses is harmless, because they trust their friendship with Darvon and Dr. Nate Natey Nate Nate Nate Nate Nate. Clearly Nicki is charmed by Moses and being indulgent, but Faith's parent's should be taking Faith in hand, and reminding her that she went haywire just a few months ago and has responsibilities to her probation, alcohol treatment and make-up school work that a closer relationship with Moses would interfere with her accountability to the court and her promises to them. Faith needs more structure to her time and supervision, something Sharon is too distracted/stoned to give at this point; Faith will end up under Nick's ham-handed/Phyllis-fucking/Where's CAN? parental style to lead and direct Faith (something Nick is ill-equipped to act upon).

Moses wants more from Faith and is eager to go forward. Moses is a fairly reasonable and respectful teenage boy, and needs to have it explained that Faith is under probation and has responsibilities. Darvon also needs to be contacted to reinforce Nick and Sharon's restrictions for Faith.

TIIC have needlessly abandoned Faith's alcohol-related probation and treatment with her recast. I don't want to watch another teen friendship turn into a worn-out Romeo and Juliet Soap trope. TIIC are incompetent to mine anything out of the trope other than retread everything we've already seen by earlier and better producers/writers.

Seems that Elena's medical training status has been a frequent topic of discussion on soap boards since those scenes aired.  Turns out that there are specific scenes from an August, 2019 episode in which Elena celebrates being accepted as a resident in general surgery at Memorial.

Two years is forever in a soap career so, by soap timetables, she could be finished that residency program now or finishing very soon.   I'm not sure what the recent emergency room shifts are about, but I don't pay those things much mind - not when estate lawyer Amanda is dealing with criminal cases -  or when Nate is Dr. Everything - or when 12-year-olds can be company CEOs.  (Ok, so I exaggerate  - but you get the idea.)

Editing to add these lines from a description of the duties of a chief of surgery:

"Often, a chief surgeon serves as an educational mentor, training new surgeons and working with surgical residents in training."

"When medical residents are a part of the surgical team, the chief surgeon supervises and evaluates their performance."

So seems they might acutally be a bit of realism in this situation.  Who would have thought!!!  🤣

Wasn't Stich also originally an Army medic who got into med school? He knew Dylan from serving right?

Do we know WHERE Mariah's locked room is? I seem to see a lot of speculation it's actually on the Chancellor Estate/in the house itself? If Esther was around there would be no way that could happen. She's a ditz but she would know every room of that house.

I expect Locke-ness will be ambitious enough to want to steer the merged companies if he survives cancer. But I like the couple. They are mature, career-driven equals, something Victoria never had with NotBilly. Locke-ness needs her support, unlike NotBilly who needed to be carried because he destroyed his ability to move forward.

I expect Victor interrogating Locke-ness and Nick intending to do the same, is less about "protecting' Victoria as it is protecting Newman Enterprises and the merger ending up out of Newman leadership.

The Newman Civil Defense System is strong in Nicki. She'll roll over anyone that she perceives as a threat to one of her children/grandchildren . It doesn't matter that Dumber went out of her way to attack the hyper-ambitious Sally, imagining she was planning to poach Kyle and job at Fenmore's -- not after Kyle, but seriously looking for an in at Fenmore's that didn't involve having Lauren's car washed/detailed and transcribing budget meetings.

The only defense Nicki has for Dumber is that she's her adenoidal, spoiled granddaughter that still needs her ego catered and hand-fed.

Abby helped Stitch rent a furnished house. I'd start there if anyone finally buys a clue how unusual it was Stitch showed up out of the blue to reconnect with Abby, lie about becoming Chief of Surgery at Newman Memorial Hospital, Mariah's sudden disappearance, and he helped the Baby Rabies Team with a phone locator application that conveniently didn't work.

I am 99.371% convinced MS or someone working on her behalf occasionally starts fawning threads about her and/or Phyllis. There have been some which seemed way over-the-top.

Oh I think they know she's not popular in all corners of the soap forum world. I think she knows it too. But it seems like they're stuck with her now unless she wants to leave again. Where would she go though? GH is unlikely to take her back, B&B isn't big enough, and DAYS doesn't need her either since they're already pretty loaded up with older actors.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Nostrils doesn’t walk he slithers.  Nostrils doesn’t smile he smirks.

Tara is not gone and she is not convicted, so I’m pretty sure that Tara has the right to keep Harrison from going to Milan. I’m quite sure, with Harrison’s nanny, Harrison could stay with Tara, in NY, until conviction and a jail sentence. If the trial results in probation, Harrison can stay with Tara.  If there is jail time, Tara can still petition the court for Harrison to keep him with her.  So no, Tara is out of sight but not gone. But it is what it is and TIIC knows what’s best for everyone. At least we could imagine that Harrison is in Milan and not in the attic like Christian.  I think it so darn hypocritical that Tara might have committed a white collar crime when Chelsea committed a felony and was able to retain her parental right to Connor. Oh I forgot, a crime against Rodan and Summer is a crime punishable by death.

Summer is now accepting to have Harrison live with them?  Harrison maybe living in Milan but Summer will have  Harrison in the attic soon after he arrives.

Say what you want about Tara, but she is the best parent of all. For me, the rest of parenthood, in GC, their children are just useful props especially the younger children like Connor, Christian, Katie, and Johnny.

Nostrils, I hate to tell you but your the biggest mistake of Olive Oly’s life.

What if Ashland dies before the wedding happens? I'm thinking Johhny and Katie shouldn't have been told about the big ceremony until closer to the event date.

At first Jack was looking at Ashland like he'd sprouted a second head. Huh? What would have prevented Kyle from returning to GC for a few days to work things out with Ashland in person, and I dunno, see his son? Guess Summer is more emotionally fragile than a 3-year old and couldn't have been left alone for a short while. 😒

Devon made a trip over to Lily's office just to tell her about Mariah. Not sure what he hoped to accomplish. Lily's not involved in the Mariah drama.

But, but, but Harrison's mom isn't gone. She's out on bail and may not even get much if any prison time. Oy, I bet he's going to be a very angry kid when he gets older and realizes the WTFery Tara and Kyle caused him. Seems like Ashland is the only one really thinking about how his current actions might affect the boy's future mental health.

Wow, Devon went in on Chance. Wonder if this will lead to him trying to retain paternity of the baby instead of handing him over to Chance to adopt and raise? Assuming Chance ever comes back.

Maybe I've read too many crime thrillers but I think I would've long ago suspected Mariah had been taken against her will. How does Lily still think Mariah just "needs some space?" What a bubblehead. 😑

Jack told Ashland he'd known Victoria all her life. Which perhaps makes it extra creepy that Jack tried to pursue her at one time. Lol, bet Ashland doesn't know about that and Victoria will never tell him.

OMG, Billy, Lily's practically raising your kids right now. You have the nerve to question her commitment while you keep lowkey sniffing around your ex? FOH.🤨

Sounds like Harrison's nanny isn't going with him to Milan. Just like that she loses her job? Wow, these rich, entitled m.f.-ers. Hope someone is giving her a decent severance payment and a promise of glowing references.

I hope that Summer’s new boss is as forgiving as Lauren especially now that Kyle is there with her. Summer hardly worked with long lunches and afternoon delights with Kyle. It’s not going to change much because Harrison will have a bambinaia to take care of him and keep him out of Summer’s hair. Either that or Harrison will be in the attic with a big box of cookies shipped everyday from the Abbotts’ housekeeper.

He sure did, Devon doth protest too much, methinks. I suspect he has more than "just friend" feelings for Abby.

It's been bizarre from the moment Devon offered up his sperm when supposedly he's in love with Amanda. If you're in love with someone wouldn't you want them to bear your first child? It's not like he's doing Abby that big a favor, surrogates are hard to get, not sperm donors. And Abby didn't ask him for it, he came over and offered.

I predict Devon will want Abby & his baby if Chance doesn't return, (or even if he does).

I expect there to be a considerable amount of arms wind-milling, teeth gnashing and scenery/props/furniture demolition as well.

Honestly TIIC and the adult characters treat Locke Jr. like a piece of used furniture, to be passed around. Tara drags Jr out of his family NYC home and stays at the Grimy Pillager, ending up installed at the Abbott Mansion. Jr stays there for awhile, calling Kyle 'Daddy' to Dumber's disappointment, but the Abbott's find out Tara is a nogoodnik. Tara's about to pack Jr up to take him away when she's arrested and extradited to NYC. At the same time Daddy gets a stiffy and flies it to Milan to have it ministered to by Dumber, leaving Jr in the capable hands of Grandpa Jack. Locke-ness is finally notified Kyle is not returning to Genoa City and wants Jr to live in Milan. Locke-ness is mildly put out but decides Jr should live in Milan with Daddy and Dumber while he continues his cancer treatment. Grandpa Jack flies Jr to Milan. At the same time Tara is out on bail, and she and Locke-ness are still the parents of record of Locke Jr.

No one cares about Locke Jr, including all the people who say his happiness and welfare is their priority.

How does taking Locke Jr out of the country, without Tara's permission work in Soapland? Never mind. Formalities like birth certificates, DNA tests and legal custody don't matter to TIIC.

Darvon (Who forget about Phyl killing his mom) is super rich and everyone knows about his adventures in ejaculation.

The kid is the Chancellor heir....Victor's grandbaby... hell we'll probably find out it's Ashland's Mystery Baby.

I guess that goes for both of us. This dithering is driving me crazy. It's so fucking obvious that Mariah is not working under her own agency. How long has it been? (judging by Vics pink top, about two days. Damn girl, do some laundry! ) But really, when the hell are these idiots going to get a clue and call the real police. Maybe not GC police but isn't kidnapping federal? And here Chance is off investigating god knows what.

Does no one in GC watch ID TV?!

Okay, just a heads up, Phyllis Appreciation Day is bad, but by that, I mean really bad and pathetic. I can say no more.

In spite of that, some other things happen which I commented on in the CDN thread.

Whoa, is Devon about to try to body Chance?  I'm liking it.

"Try" being the operative word. TPTB never let Devon win--at least not over people like Chance, Billy, Victor, Nick, Jack--and odds are all his tough talk will go nowhere if Chance returns. Ugh, I hate this surrogacy storyline so much.

Well, I guess they are making up for it with "Phyllis Appreciation Day".

Judging from this board, Phyllis doesn't have many fans.  Are there fans of Phyllis out there on other boards, or are TIIC really that bad at reading a room?

You know, I like MS's Phyllis in small doses. I do. Anecdotally with my real life lapsed Y&R fans I think what happens sometimes is they watch the occasional episode and get a really over the top Phyllis moment which is fun. Then they don't watch day to day and don't experience how exhausting it can get if it's not tempered/spooned out with restraint.

I almost deleted the episode due to PAD but I’m glad I put it on.

Adam: “But Dad, Victoria started it!”

Then Adam and Sally scene. When Adam’s not in trouble with his daddy or arguing with big sis, he’s a bit interesting. Good for him for saying he’s not a big fan of Summer! Everyone else in the family acting like it’s a loss she left. She was an annoying airheaded, uncle banging, liver bribing, Phyllis having as a mom, bully, pill popping, Theo banging idiot.

I fast forwarded most of Nick and Phyllis but paused to see him in the wig. Wow they went all out for that scene.

How many days of Victoria in those snug white jeans?
They need to put her in this video:
