Peter has been frequently insufferable, but meeting his family more, especially his mom, I do feel sorry for him. She is clearly emotionally manipulative and overbearing, and that has left him with some serious issues when it comes to dating and women. She also seems to be very high drama, so maybe he got the idea growing up that drama, complete with crying and guilt trips and hysterics, was what love was like. Drama=Passion.

Madi dumps Peter and, in a twist, he is the one left to die alone in the remote wilderness. Good call, Madison! She suddenly sees how different their lifestyles are—now that your Mom told her they are and drove her away.

I do think that his family is right that Maddie isn't right for him.  He's not a fundamentalist who wants to spend his entire life at church and that's what Maddie is.  She's someone who wants her religion to be first and Peter is obviously not that type of person.  He drinks and has lots of sex . . . . . .

Maybe she will be able to convert him and they can live happily ever after, but I understand why Peter's family would be worried.  I'd be worried if my kid was saying they were in love with someone who is that religious.
