Very out dated, the only prosti's have tattoos prejudice.

I didn't say that "only prosti's have tattoos."  I offered my opinion that tattooed poor Southeast Asian women with Western boyfriends twice their age are more likely to be hookers than non-tattooed poor Southeast Asian women with American boyfriends twice their age. But we can agree to disagree, I see that I am in the minority here.

Personally, I don't give a fudge. Whether she's a hooker or the madam of The Best Little Whorehouse in the Philippines, Ed and his mayo head is still gross, he's still rude, and Rose's situation is still sad. People turn to prostitution out of desperation; it's generally not a career aspiration.

Best line tonight @mamadrama.  I agree, I don't care if Rose is a either a hooker or whatnot. She has more class in her little finger than Ed has all put together.

In Juliana's case, the only reason I was ever saying prostitute was because Michael was adamant in his TH that she's not a prostitute. Like VERY adamant. Not sure if that was editing or Michael being stupid.

The more Michael insisted that she wasn't, the more he made her sound like she was.

If I'm not mistaken, we've had several reply to this who are actually from the Philippines...

If we're going to discuss prostitutes, or sex workers as they prefer to be called, it would be nice to stop using cutsie nicknames like 'prosti's', and just call them sex workers. I've worked with many sex worker groups and that is their preferred moniker. On behalf of them, thank you.

And it is true that while maybe some celebs have tatoos in SE Asia, as well as 'hipster' girls, overall it is still true that nice girls don't have them.

I thought the euphemism in the Philippines is G.R.O. or "guest relations officer."

Will Rose make up the sleeping mat with the sheets that Ed sent or were they sold in the store?I am sure if Ed asks where are the gifts he sent they will feign ignorance, shrug and say how corrupt the mail service is and things disappear all the time.

I noticed that the hotel sheets did bother Ed's oh so sensitive skin.

That is because he spent the night on top of Rose.

And she hasn’t???   She appears to be totally repulsed by him, and I can’t blame her, yet she still keeps saying she loves him. She’s as much of a liar as he is.

He wouldn’t have flown all that way or sent all that stuff, if she hadn’t given him some indication that he’d be getting laid when he arrived. I’m sure he’s gotten a  pic peek or two at the promised land and maybe a little twerking clip similar to the one Juliana did for Michael, and Paul received from Karina.
Yes Ed has what she’s looking for in terms of a better life, but she pretty much is offering up sexy time in return. Playing the innocent young thing may be part of the scenario they’ve decided to sell to the audience but basically she’s selling and he’s buying. Let’s leave love  out of it.

I was thinking something about the whole leg shaving thing.

Was this producer driven or real?

I went back and checked out the airport scene and Rose's armpits have no hair. Why would she shave her pits and not her legs?!?!

Thoughts!?!? I maybe wrong.

It's a good question. I don't actually grow hair under my arms so I have no need to shave them. The only hair I grow on my legs is around my ankles, making me look like your average Clydesdale. Maybe it's a cultural thing? It would be great if some of our Filipino members could weigh in on this.

Their hair is generally so fine that nobody ever called them out for hairy legs. So no marketing to try to get them to buy and use such products.

Pantyhose and stockings are normally only worn as part of a uniform

But it HAS been speculated about Annie (David), Aya, Hazel, Aika, and Daya. Juliana, Abby, Melissa, Niki, Akinyi, and Anny (Robert) have also been accused of prostitution though they're not Asian . So perhaps I should just cross out the word "Asian" and just say "women" though I hardly think that makes it better...

You're right, I 100% think Annie was in some sort sex worker adjacent job.  I never minded, I think the only time I got salty is when she was kinda snarky and judgy towards anfisa and David's daughter.

But, like you said, I don't judge these women for being prostitutes, it's what they have to do to survive.  I think it's sad and I'm happy that they can get a chance at something better.  I judge the jons, but I guess the relationship is symbiotic, since those guys aren't trying to be humanitarians without getting something in return.

Edited to change "prostitute adjacent job" to "sex worker adjacent job"

Based on my experience of traveling in Southeast Asia, I'm going to guess that Rose is/was a prostitute. The tattoo of her name on the inside of her bicep is strong indicator giveaway. I would never say that tattoos on American women are indicative of promiscuity or prostitution, but in Southeast Asia, they are.

"Good" poor girls don't get tattoos there, and display them prominently, because they don't want to be mistaken for prostitutes.

Then you add in "She or her sister ask Ed for money," "Reaches into his wallet for cash," "Willing to be seen walking around her village with Ed,"  "Not at all embarrassed about checking into a hotel with Ed," "no one cares she's sleeping with Ed in her family home a day after meeting him," "gives him a death stare of rage when angry" and "apparently bisexual."

It adds up to probable prostitute to me.

Wait a minute, now not liking Ed and being bisexual means prostitute? Clearly I'm in the wrong business.

To be clear, though, I'm with mamadrama--if Rose is/was a prostitute, and we really have no evidence of this, I am not gonna judge her for that. I will judge her predators--er, customers.

The Guest Relations Officer was used the mostly the escort of US servicemen in the Philippines, it got is biggest notice from Vietnam War memoirs describing the one week girlfriend of soldiers on leave from Vietnam. However since the US military bases closed about 30 years ago there are no more "guest" of the nation and G.R.O. became transferred to the bar girls who get you to stay  and buy overpriced drinks like a stripper in America when she is not on stage or providing a lap dance..

And in their case you can pay the bar (bar fine) to get her out of the club. With the justificatin that  since she is no longer productive for the club, selling drinks. Thus being away from eyes of security the  prostitute label and not an sex worker who does not accept penetration from a male customer.

Thanks, I am aware of the above but we’re now in 2020 and I’m referring to now, or at least the last 30+ years I’ve worked around that region. It’s not a term anyone has used for a very, very long time. Men and women who sell sex as their primary means of income prefer to be called commercial sex workers. Most bar girls don’t see themselves as sex workers per se because they are casual sex workers. It’s a very complex world to navigate but IMO it’s important to call people by what they deem appropriate.  At least I think so, as do many others. I know this show is a shit show and it’s fun to rag on the morons on the show, but sometimes it provides an opportunity to educate people on the reality behind the fiancées who are living in poverty and looking for a way out. I say that because I am always a bit shocked at the harshness foreign women, in particular, receive here from viewers, seemingly without much thought as to what their lives must be like, while we all watch them from the comforts of our nice living rooms. *stepping off my reality soap box now*

I'm Filipina and my four sisters hardly have any hair on our legs or pits. Also, I don't have much hair on my arms. Not to get too graphic but our nether regions aren't super hairy either.  I can honestly say I have shaved my legs less than 10 times in my life.

Shaving your legs or pits is not in the norm in the provinces. Most of my aunts and cousins would pluck the hair from the pits and eventually, it doesn't grow back. What would grow back is very fine. Kind of when you wax so much that what does grow back is pretty fine.

I appreciate you don't like the term GRO, but I'm disappointed you would say "I've never heard of that in any SE Asian country . . . I don't know where you go that from" if you are familiar with the term but just find it outdated.

I could post a lot of links now to very recent news articles written by journalists in the Philippines using the term "guest relations officer" to refer to bargirls and prostitutes but I think we're just getting off track.

Yeah, I agree we don’t need to beat this horse but I think our difference of opinion lays in what you just said...that you know that term from journalists - they might use that term, but I’m coming from the perspective of working in partnership with sex worker communities and I know what they call themselves. If journalists are calling them something else, they probably aren’t communicating WITH them directly and are writing ABOUT them, two very different approaches. Does that make sense? (It’s okay if you don’t want to answer that) 😉

I've never met a prostitute who actually calls herself a "commercial sex worker," that sounds like a term used in academia but not commonly used in the real world by prostitutes, johns, or anyone who interacts with them or writes or talks about them.

The New York Times is pretty "woke" and even their preferred term is "prostitute" not "commercial sex worker." https://www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2018/02/sex-worker.html

Someone has created a GoFundMe to get Rosemarie and her son out of poverty. On her new IG account, she says it isn't her, she doesn't know the person, and it has been reported. So, if anyone has donated, you should request a refund. Her account is private so I can't see the post and don't know who created the account, but it sounds like she doesn't have any GFMs so none are probably legit.

His condition is often progressive especially in terms of symptoms so his neck may have gotten worse.  He would likely have arthritis in that area by now and possibly other problems with joints like the hips or knees because of the way he moves due to the fusion of his vertebrae. He may have more stiffness as he ages, more pain, nerve damage of various spinal nerves depending on the area of the fusion, tingling in his arms for example could be an issue, also there is the possibility of involuntary movements, spasms, cramps, and more.   It is not just a cosmetic condition..Ed’s weight certainly isn't helpful, but he may find it harder to move around and more As he ages.

He’s still a strange bird, awkward, odd, and just out of touch on so many levels....

Wouldn't humidity make such a musculoskeletal condition more painful?

If he was serious about her, he should have a) been up front about how much heat and humidity he could handle - if she is going to be his life partner she could have better planned their days around his limitations and b) he should have spent a night with rose's family at their home and then taken rose/Freddy/sister/dad to a hotel.  It would have been relatively inexpensive, it would have made him much more pleasant and likeable, it would have endeared him to rose to see him do something nice for her son and he would have had built in babysitting so he could have some more sex.

Someone needs to knock Bad Egg down a notch or two. His ego has been out of control this week. From his comments about being the most authentic person to have ever been on the show to his claim that his shower scene is the best thing ever shown on TLC, homeboy's crazy. He is totally buying Insta followers, too. Two days after Tim called him out for not even having 100,000 followers, Ed jumped up 50,000. That's not organic.

Ed did a live video the other day where he stated that he was the most authentic cast member to have ever been on the show and that his shower scene was the best scene ever to have appeared on TLC. He also claimed that he was the biggest star of the franchise. Tim did a good job of taking him down. I'll try to find an article that sums it up.

Unfortunately Ed took the video down, but this article talks about it a little (though it seems to be on Ed's side). https://soapdirt.com/90-day-fiance-baby-girl-lisa-unhinged-authentic-big-ed-enrages-her/

https://screenrant.com/90-day-fiance-big-ed-tim-lisa-david-calling-out-creepy/

I can't find one about the shower scene, but it's out there, I'm sure.

I listened to an interview of Ed, and he said that it would be a good idea to ask if Rose knew about her sister requesting money during the tell all.  Here’s a link:

I thought it might be an accidental spoiler, since why would he need to wait until the tell-all to bring it up if he and Rose were still together?  Any thoughts?

In the promo for next week he asks her.

I have been thinking of the timeline of Ed and RoseMarie’s “love”....  Ed has said they have known each other 3 months.  That is 12 weeks.   He has also spent $5000 (if I am remembering correctly) on gifts, however, that includes shipping which cost more than the gifts.

If each gift was worth $250.   Including shipping, let’s say the total is $500.  That means he sent 10 packages.  If each gift was worth $100, he sent 25 packages.

In 12 weeks...less really, unless he declared his love day one.   Sending between 10 and 25 packages in less than 12 weeks.  I know we talk about David being a stalker, but so is Ed, overwhelming a woman living in poverty with her young son with gifts designed to make her think he could be her white knight.   It is like he was buying her “love”.

I mean, if you think about it, it's pretty much Pretty Woman.

Except Ed got a much better deal, $5k for two weeks of sex.  I think Richard Gere paid like $3k for a week.  I mean, rose is no young Julia Roberts but Ed is certain no Richard Gere!

I started listening to this podcast last night but haven't finished it yet but I noticed that Heather has to interrupt Ed A LOT because he just starts going off on random tangents about how awesome he is.

And then at the beginning Ed says what condition he has (totally forgot what it was) and then it hit me like a lightning bolt - I used to work with a guy who had the same thing!! Although he was average height and not really overweight like Ed but he pretty much had no neck, couldn't turn his head easily,  and a larger chest cavity (which is what Ed says are normal for that condition)
