That just made my blood boil.  The best that this fucking old ass mayo drenched turd could ever hope for, is that he can exploit desperate poverty to get a young girl.  He knows exactly what he is doing.  But now her poverty, which he exploited to get her....is a problem.  She has to LOVE him.  Fuck this guy.  The only angle of this story where Ed isn't an asshole is if he is selflessly saving a girl from poverty and she is grateful for that and stays with him.  

But this hypocrisy is so upsetting to me.  Why the hell does he think she would love him?  Because he creepily rubs her feet and talks to her like a five year old?  Because they can barely communicate?  Because she secretly has a thing for greasy old men who are under five feet and shaped like a bowling pin? 

he and Lisa are always in a race to the bottom.  But at least Lisa isn't trying to be a "good guy".

He supposedly loves her but his initial reaction was to think about himself. If that were me I'd have been thinking, "Wow, it makes me so sad to see her and her son struggle and do without. I can't wait for her to California. I want the best for her." 

He'll go on about how she may be using him, but he shows no signs of loving HER.

I'd have gotten downright drunk if it were me.

Ed wants her to sit down on her "butt" ("As opposed to her head?" my son asked). Ed wants her to take a hot bath (he doesn't have to, of course). Ed wants her to kiss him on the mouth. Ed needs 1000 tc sheets. Ed needs certain food so he sends a grill. Hell, even his "gifts" are about him. Cause you know he has some of that "massage oil" and other "gifts" for "her" at the bottom of that ill-packed suitcase. Ed wants a lot. So far the only thing Rose has wanted (on camera, at least) is for him to shave his beard.

When he was talking about all the stuff he'd sent her I was wondering if she even had the room/storage for all of it.

This went down on Ed's FB in Tagalog, but this is the only English translation I see. It was translated to English using Facebook's translation and the Google translate examples made no sense. 

I don't know why it's showing as video; there doesn't appear to be anything other than what you see. This is from Rosemarie's sister to Ed.

It's being further reported that she made comments about him cutting off the money and gifts he was sending and responded to someone that yes, her sister is with a woman, but that doesn't absolve Ed from sending the stuff he said he was going to send, and accuses him of leaking the girlfriend/wife info to get the heat of himself and back on Rosemarie. Others are saying that they cannot find those posts, and they could have been deleted or not have existed at all. Who knows.

There are more photos of Rose and her son with her girlfriend and her family, but they are blurry and you really can't tell it's her, so I didn't bother to link them.

Unless it's golden poon it should cost less than a plane ticket to the phillipines.  

But, I think Ed, much like colt, crunched the numbers and figured that long term it was less expensive to sponsor an indentured servant wife than it was to regularly pay for sex over the next 20 years.  You add to that the savings of having to pay for a caregiver for Ed and possibly his mom and Ed comes out ahead financially.

Based on my experience of traveling in Southeast Asia, I'm going to guess that Rose is/was a prostitute. The tattoo of her name on the inside of her bicep is strong indicator giveaway. I would never say that tattoos on American women are indicative of promiscuity or prostitution, but in Southeast Asia, they are.

"Good" poor girls don't get tattoos there, and display them prominently, because they don't want to be mistaken for prostitutes.  

Then you add in "She or her sister ask Ed for money," "Reaches into his wallet for cash," "Willing to be seen walking around her village with Ed,"  "Not at all embarrassed about checking into a hotel with Ed," "no one cares she's sleeping with Ed in her family home a day after meeting him," "gives him a death stare of rage when angry" and "apparently bisexual."

I would say times, they are a changing as far as tattoos are going. While lesbians are going full sleeves others following local celebrities are at the easily hidden tramp stamp stage with some going for the pre Catholic and Islamic tribal tattoos.

Those photos are her girlfriend/wife, not Rose. She's been referred to as both and I don't know which is correct. Rosemarie confirmed they were together to one of the tabloids, Blast I think, and got yelled at by production with her income threatened, so they agreed to hold the article. Her comments are on FB and someone had cut and pasted it to Twitter and Reddit.

Personally, I don't give a fudge. Whether she's a hooker or the madam of The Best Little Whorehouse in the Philippines, Ed and his mayo head is still gross, he's still rude, and Rose's situation is still sad. People turn to prostitution out of desperation; it's generally not a career aspiration.

Noon's Asian and I don't think many people suggest Noon was a prostitute. Or Daya. Or Aya. Or Jenny. Because they didn't look, dress, or act like prostitutes.

@mamadrama, that photo's been circulated on the internet, saying it's Rose but it doesn't look anything like it to some of us. This show in particular seems to bring out all sorts of speculation and 'articles' but most are from dubious-at-best sources so who the hell knows...?!? To me, it doesn't add to the show in any way because it's all speculation. Avery is hipster dope-cooking American, that's why she's tattooed. She isn't from a country where there's a strong correlation between tattoos and prostitution. 

Similarly, I don't think Geoffrey is involved in organized crime just because he has the horrible chest/nipple tattoos. But if he were a heavily tattooed Japanese guy with a record of drug dealing and beating women, I would definitely assume he was a member of the "Yakuza."

I want to say that I have no idea if Ed's and Rose's relationship is real or not. Or if they are together or not. 

I have said this before, but I think Ed should have gotten his vasectomy before he met Rose. If he doesn't want kids, he could have taken care of it years ago. I think Ed may want to have a baby, but he's saying he doesn't to get out of parenting responsibilities like changing diapers. "Since having a kid was your idea, you change the diapers."

I hope this is a shomance, and Ed and Rose don't have babies together.

Most countries are too big and have too many outside cultural influences for us to make a singular ironclad statement about them. Filipinos have access to the internet, to Western media and to outside travelers. Culture is not stagnant, it's forever changing. "Asia" is a huge place and encompasses many different countries whose own history and geography help shape their culture. Heck, you can barely make a singular statement that encompasses one end of my state and the other.

Tribalism tattoos have been a huge part of Filipino culture for centuries and some of these tattoos were definitely not about being loose women. In fact, they were rights of passage. The Phillipines is made up of many different tribes.

Very out dated, the only prosti's have tattoos prejudice. You can Google search the tattoo of most 30 something into their 40s Filipina celebrities, if you knew their names, and see the tattoos. The general society has followed suit and it is no big deal as they are now starting to show up on places not easily hidden by working clothes.
