I THINK I just learned the original source of an English colloquialism via Sam & Graham's new show, "Men in Kilts". They did an episode based on Scottish music and dancing. Naturally there were bagpipers. And as a group of bagpipers finished I heard the leader say "Pipes down!" Ah HA! I thought to myself. That must be the source of the expression "Pipe down!" when you want a group of noisy people to be quiet. Don't tell me if I'm wrong. I'm verra pleased with myself and I'd like to stay that way. (like a year and a half)- and that was not counting COVID-19 issues. Looking at wikipedia, there was a big gap between seasons 2 and 3 (17 months), as well as 4 and 5 (15months).
