bigskygirl June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 (edited) First of all I call total bs on the Duggars arriving a day early, and Anna was unprepared. They did the same stupid storyline last year when she was pregnant with Marcus. She was not ready yet when the family pulled up to the house. This gets on my nerves when they use the same bad storylines again. And I am sure Josh has been late before so he has no reason to complain about Duggar time. Without his family, he would not have gotten the job (and I use the word loosely) in D.C. And don't get me started on how the Duggars treat animals. It makes me sick. On the subject of Jill, she does act like a teenager with her first major crush. I have a hard time believing she is 100% in love with Derick. Yes, I did have a few chuckles when Smuggar and David were wrestling in the mud. My gayder was setting off major bells inside my head. Anna's family grates on my last nerves just like the Duggars do. BitterApple June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 I wouldn't have an issue with the homeschooling if they did in fact, you know, homeschool. Between the road trips, tv appearances and book tours there is no way in hell those kids are doing schoolwork on a consistent basis. What really sucks is they create the impression that all homeschooled kids are lazy slackers who pick up a workbook when they feel like it. A huge disservice to those who homeschool and take their children's education very seriously. 10 Link to comment
Absolom June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 It was just brought up in another forum that the Duggar's consider themselves a charity. Consequently, they don't pay real estate taxes. Has anyone else heard about this? I haven't. How are they a charity? Is this legal? No truth at all in any of that. They don't want to register with the IRS as a charity as they'd then have to deal with all of those requirements. Their house was never written off as a church and they currently hold church in a converted warehouse type place. The property records in their county are open to the public and it's been easy for years to see that they pay the same property tax rate as everyone else. :) It's an internet rumor that comes up periodically no matter how often the actual facts are presented. riverblue22 June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Michelle and her hair remind me of a coworker of mine. She wears her hair like Joan Cusack in Working Girl (1988), tons of hairspray and curls and ridiculously high on her head. Otherwise she wears modern clothes but for some reason she thinks she looks great this way. She won't leave home without the total hairdo. Michelle must have hated being seen with her straight hair--I thought she looked great after the makeover. 2 Link to comment
BitterApple June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Absolom, great point that the Duggars would face even MORE scrutiny if they registered themselves as a charity. I can imagine registering your primary dwelling as a church and writing off every expense related to that residence would set off a massive wave of alarm bells when it came time to file returns. 1 Link to comment
BradandJanet June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 (edited) I won't argue with the property tax records. Technically, they could probably designate part of their house as a business or charity if they used it exclusively for that purpose. The key word is exclusively. They could never claim the whole house is a church or charity because obviously they live there as a home. However, if they don't get a tax break for that restaurant kitchen, they should wash some dishes there and quit with the paper plates and cups. Edited June 7, 2014 by BradandJanet 1 Link to comment
mbutterfly June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 That's what I was going to say. Make those boys load a dishwasher. They have multiple dishwashers, right? I was thinking so. They have plenty of family members old enough to load the dishwashers after a meal. Using disposable makes no sense to me, but I almost never use disposable. The biggest our family got was 7, but -- considering the number of Duggars moving out, they equalize out with 2 or 3 dishwashers. Link to comment
Foxy June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Their stupid terminology: - Purpose to - Sweet fellowship - Pieces of your heart - Defrauding - Frontal and side hugs - Buy used and save the difference - Character qualities - Transferring authority - Purity - A servant's heart - Keep sweet - Godly young man/woman - God's choice for you - ...aaaaaand I'm sure there's so much more and will have to continue the list. I can't even comment about their treatment of animals because it would make me too upset right now. And what about FLIP FLOPS? You know - I'm surprised they let the girls wear these - a lot of guys have foot fetishes and consider feet the sexiest part of a woman's body. Not to mention they wear them when it's clearly cold outside, to formal occasions or when doing strenuous activity where more supportive shoes are needed. 6 Link to comment

SmallTownMom June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Michelle. The use of the word "precious". And "new season of life". The outright child neglect: sleeping in their clothes, no hugs or kisses, no proper schooling, etc, etc. Michelle. Anna being hugely pregnant and having to crawl under the table to get to the other side because her lord and master couldn't get off his fat butt to get whatever was needed. The way they think everything they do is right and Godly and everybody else is wrong and going to hell. And because it can't be said too often: Michelle So many things that I can't even begin to list them all! 9 Link to comment
Quof June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Duggar Time is the most obnoxious. It says "I am more important than everyone who is left waiting." And while someone above suggested Smuggar seemed annoyed by it, you'll recall that during the move to DC he remarked "my kids aren't morning people." You know who makes kids "morning people", Smuggar? Parents. They were three kids under the age of 4. For people who subscribe to the belief you can brainwash/train your children into submission, you sure missed out on the Parents Set the Bedtime and Stick With It, then they'll wake easily in the morning. 7 Link to comment
Lillybee June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Regarding the paper plate issue, I want TLC to have something on screen that says that the Duggars use eleventy million paper plates and cups a year. 12 Link to comment
BitterApple June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 Aaarghh! "New season of life" is one phrase that might just push me over the edge... I agree about Duggar time. In reality the family only has three children who need help in the morning: Jenny, Jordyn and Josie. Hannie, Jackson, Justin and the Howlers should be able to get dressed, brush their teeth and wash their faces without someone holding their hand. They really have no excuse for being chronically late. Link to comment
Lillybee June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 One thing that really, really gets on nerves is that the lost girls look so unkempt especially poor Jordyn. I don't think that anyone brushes her hair daily. 1 Link to comment
Ljohnson1987 June 7, 2014 Author Share June 7, 2014 I think how the Duggars think that everyone follows their religion and think they're so great gets me. Yeah, there are some people who are stupid enough to believe that J'Chelle and Boob are POTY material, but when it comes down to it, they'd be lost without the older girls. 2 Link to comment
Absolom June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 In my household all the kids except Josie would be expected to get themselves ready including brushing their own hair and Josie should be well on her way to doing it solo. MarkySnark June 7, 2014 Share June 7, 2014 The fact that they think destroying someone else's vehicle on his wedding day is funny is quite annoying. To me, it's passive aggressive behavior because that guy that just got married is going to get laid and they aren't. Even TFDW got a piece of ass before John Sling David Blade. That's funny shit!! 6 Link to comment
bigskygirl June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 I still cannot understand how John David became a constable. I had to fill out forms, have three references, be fingerprinted by a detention officer at the local law enforcement center/detention unit, and have a background check before becoming a Police Department Volunteer. To become a reserve officer, a person has to go through ninety hours of training and ride with/report to a regular officer while on patrol. Are they hard up for constables while he lives. Plus the fact, he was on television destroying someone else's property. If I did something that stupid, I would be kick off the volunteer program so fast I would not know what hit me. Link to comment
BitterApple June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 Chai, I think they needed material for the show. Derick was already scheduled to come home in two months, so Jill could have waited. The Benessa courtship is one big, constipated snoozefest, so something was needed to maintain interest. Link to comment
DangerousMinds June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 (edited) In their view, privacy and personal space=near occasion of sin. So it's OK for 2 siblings to share a bed for years, but frontal hugs are not allowed. Edited June 8, 2014 by DangerousMinds 7 Link to comment
MrMattyMatt June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 I agree, this season would have been a snoose-fest without the Jill/Derrick Nepal episodes. The Jessa/Bin storyline seems the same every episode and keeps getting more and more cringeworthy. 1 Link to comment
PinkSprinkles June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 The timeline with the courtship --> engagement isn't that shocking, IMO. There are numerous instances where people meet, date, get engaged, and married within a short time (one friend of mine (non-fundie) did it all within two months and and he and his wife are happily married five years later ). I've also known people who dated and were engaged for years and their marriages fell apart within months. It's all a matter of perspective. That being said, I still stand by the notion that couples need private conversations and time alone. Even if those conversations take place on the porch or on a walk around the neighborhood where parents can monitor, but not listen in (at the very least the Duggars could allow this). 1 Link to comment

parisprincess June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 I hate that JB and Michelle insist that they leave it up to God to determine how many babies they have, yet they have always done everything under the sun to make sure it happens as often as possible. Between keeping track of Michelle's cycles, screwing like rabbits and, the most unbelievable of all, seeing a fertility specialist after already spawning 19 kids, I think they need to actually start listening to what I think God is trying to tell them: ENOUGH IS ENIOUGH!! 2 Link to comment
Absolom June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 TLC needs to be lashed with a wet noodle for their false advertising. The doctor Michelle saw was not a fertility specialist but a high risk pregnancy specialist. TLC did all they could to give a false impression. 2 Link to comment

floridamom June 8, 2014 Share June 8, 2014 Everything they do is annoying, so little space!! The latest thing that came to mind is: I could not believe my eyes when they were in the hotel in NYC and Michael came down sick. That poor little kid was flushed, looked like he had a fever, a cough and was vomiting. This boy was sleeping on the floor in a hotel room! He was fully dressed with a pillow from the bed, some dingy blanket on that filthy hotel room carpet..what the hell is wrong with those two morons.. sometimes I think that Anna,, too may be a little slow, like her sister, Priscilla. Meanwhile in the Duggar hotel room: Jim Boob and Mullet, selfish as they are also had multiple kids sleeping in full size beds, every which way, feet in faces, etc., fully dressed and some kids slept on the floor in their room too. I'm sure they had a nice bed for themselves.Always has bothered me to no end how improperly those little kids sleep. At home, they all don't have a decent bed; let alone one for themselves...I can't stomach it..someone in the family, like Grandma should take a "switch" to Jim Bob AND Michelle and tan their fannies. I will never understand that family. 8 Link to comment

MrMattyMatt June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 One of the families in the Kid's By the Dozen series, the Arndts (equally as creepy), thos ekids wore clothes to bed as well. The mother stated she bought PJ's for them but they refused to wear them. 1 Link to comment
Lillybee June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 The girls could at least be allowed to sleep in muu-muus. Those ugly dresses were designed by Christians to clothe the heathens in Hawaii. 1 Link to comment
Absolom June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 I think they may use pajamas at home when not filming. They don't want any but the very youngest filmed in other than street clothing. So they either sleep in regular clothes when the film crew is there or get up and change before answering the door for the crew. Link to comment
mbutterfly June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 Well, I don't think any of the adults should come to the door (even bedroom) in a state of deshabille. So why not just get dressed before filming? As for kids not wanting to change into night clothing -- that's pretty normal. You kind of have to work them into the habit of bathing and dressing appropriately for bedtime, especially in a household of adolescents. Link to comment
Chris Knight June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 Ick I am so disgusted at the mere thought of sleeping on hotel floors. I am a little skeeved out at sleeping in hotels at all, thanks to Dateline and their ultraviolet light. Duggar parents are so selfish & irresponsible - it cannot be said enough. 2 Link to comment
SpaghettiTuesdays June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 I cannot stand the selfishness of the parents. They don't "share" their kids with anyone. They group 24 year olds in with 4 year olds with little distinction. They were given plenty of opportunities they now deny their children. Their children will have difficult lives, and already have. They are neglectful just so they can seem like the perfect family. They all need to see a therapist. 3 Link to comment
SmallTownMom June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 We don't even WALK on hotel room floors without socks or slippers! Think about all the people who are in there who may not be the cleanest, have athlete's foot, or spill things. Why would you want to put your face near the carpet and inhale all that crud? Vacuuming the rug doesn't kill germs, and don't even get me started on how bedspreads are not washed each time somebody checks out. YUCK!! Then again, I think sleeping in your clothes on beds with no sheets, putting your dirty feet all over the dining room table and counters, and licking counters is pretty gross, too. And those kids always look uncombed and unwashed. I'm not a neat freak, but things like this make me want to throw up. 5 Link to comment
GinnyLee June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 They claim to be so frugal, but I'm not seeing that in the shows. I see them spending a fortune on boxed cereals, overpriced snacks and canned soups. Wouldn't it be cheaper to make a huge pot of soup or oatmeal instead of stocking up on 50 cans of chicken noodle and 10 boxes of Cheerios? Don't even get me started on the bottled water they apparently have in almost every episode. Not to mention those last minute trips to Asia (China/Japan) and then to Nepal. You know they didn't surf around on Travelocity or Expedia for those tickets last minute. The last time I traveled overseas to study abroad I waited a week or so before I found tickets at rock bottom prices. Maybe TLC paid for them? 2 Link to comment
floridamom June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 I'm glad I'm not the only one who is grossed out at walking barefoot on hotel carpets and bathroom floors. I, too, prefer to have socks or slippers on at all times in a hotel room. Having said that, this family's blatant unconcerned demeanor in dragging children around the country, sick with the flu and fever, sleeping on hotel room floors, (I didn't see any sheet or blanket on the floor under poor Michael) , multiples to a bed. One other thing that is just awful is the way they treat their expectant or having just delivered spouses. Anna has looked many times like a mule or a plow horse pushing a double stroller and with Marcus hanging on her chest in some kind of sling, with flip flops, no less. These husbands expect their wives to travel around with them while heavily pregnant and so top heavy from constant breast feeding for years. Sorry, but Anna is a jerk. She is a small framed woman and I think she will begin to have back problems from her "chest size" soon. She thinks she has some kind of wonderful life. Josh treats her like a piece of dirt, IMO. Priscilla is a whole other story...she had to travel to Florida only 15 days after giving birth. Her "husband", called for her to come outside like she was some kind of servant,, well beneath him. It's all on videotape, folks. I could go on and on. 4 Link to comment
PinkSprinkles June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 TLC may foot the bill for the snacks if they have an agreement with those brands to show them during the broadcast. They also pay for the trips. The iPhones were probably comped by Apple too since they have shown the Duggars using macs to do their school work. Link to comment
MrMattyMatt June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 I don't mind walking around in hotel rooms too much, I've travelled pretty heavily over the years staying in hotels and never got a fugus infection and I don't suck my toes. Sleeping on a floor where anyone has been walking (even your home) is pretty gross in my opinion. 1 Link to comment
leighroda June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 @MrMattyMatt I agree I'm not so much grossed out by simply walking on hotel floors, but I'm also not nearly as grossed out by germs as maybe I should be, I just feel like if people realized what was on surfaces everywhere I would never leave the house, I will say I do frequently wash my hands... But I also would not have my child sleep on a hotel floor... I get that it would be pricy for everyone to have a bed, I'm not exactly sure how old Michael is, but I feel like a play pen may have been a better idea... 2 Link to comment
BollywoodLover June 9, 2014 Share June 9, 2014 The no dancing makes me sad. I remember one episode when the little ones were dancing and they got chastises by the sister moms. Despite my name, I am not a very good dancer, however, some the funnest times I've had were at weddings dancing. Also I loath that Michelle and Boob flaunt their sexual relationship in public and in front of the kids, especially when baiting them. It is just screams immaturity and honestly no kid wants to know about their parents sex life. I also find it very hard to beleive that every text, email, phonecall and skype session are monitored by J'Chelle and Boob or some other "chaperone". I wonder if there is some "currency" between the sister moms. Maybe one sister mom looks the other way while Jessa texts/sky/call, in exchange for chores or babysit the youngins. haha. 7 Link to comment
