Colt & Larissa & Debbie: Me, You, and Bith Phtew

I was so shocked that I was feeling sorry for Debbie. I mean the way she tried to be accommodating and said they didn't need to eat the stew that she would put it in the fridge.

And Larissa going on about the decor being so so so condescending. Loved it when she commented on the slot machine and it was a gift from his dad.  oops.

That was the saddest morning after scene. The body language from both of them was fraught and standoffish. Normal, for Coltee. I'm sure he just lunges over to her side when he's feeling frisky.

The showdown at breakfast was priceless. Somewhere deep down, Coltee knows he needs a woman like Larissa to help him 'choose to live healthy-ey'. I'm not sure if I want to free Colt, Debbie or Cookie Dough the fat shamed cat at this point. We saw Baby Girl in the top of Colt's 'walk in robe', doing her bit to repel the invader, did we see Sugar? Is she running ops and comms from the basement?

It wouldn't surprise me if this couple actually works out. I think Larissa knows this is it for her. She's too old to go through this process again when there are younger models with more of their bio clock available all the time. By 'work out', I mean they'll marry, she'll get her green card and then we'll see. She has more energy than both Coltee and Debbie combined and she revealed herself as a deeper thinker than 'where are my roses' last episode. Not much, but there's a bit of light there.

I felt slightly sorry for Debbie as well,  but when she started doing the ugly crying ( remember Danielle and Darcey?) on Coltee's chest, I thought she was just as wrong as Larissa.

In tonight’s repeat, Debbie said she and Colt have had a joint bank account since he was 14 and they share their money, and she says it like it’s totally normal. What the fuck?!? It’s like they’re a mother and son who are married to each other. It’s really gross and disturbing.

ETA: While I think it's normal to have a parent co-sign on an under age kid's bank accounts while they're learning to manage their money as an adult, at whatever age Coltee is, it's just bizarre and creepy to me.

I think it’s fairly common (and possibly even required) that a parent be named on a bank account when the child is under 18. But continuing to share the same account with “Mother” when you’re in your 30s...

Being practical, I would think that two adults living together who are not married SHOULD have a joint account (in addition to their personal accounts).  Then they could each deposit half of the expenses into it on a monthly basis, and one check could be cut for mortgage, utilities, car insurance, etc. (whatever expenses they split).  Anything outside of that account belongs individually to each person.  

It sure would cut down on the number of cases on Judge Judy featuring roommates who "gave the cash" to the other roommate for rent, etc., which was not spent on rent.  It would be official confirmation of deposits made and monies paid out.

Yes, I agree, something is kind of disturbing about this situation. I hope that Colt had told Larissa prior to flying over that his best friend is his mother. She must really want that green card bad. I think she sees him as her pseudo husband. And there is something very wierd about his style of speech, it's way too formal for every day and it makes me think that he must have never had a serious GF, which was why he surfed international dating sites.

Today, they got into a fight that involved a bouquet of flowers. He gave her a bouquet, she took it, and he smashed it on the ground. Larissa posted a video of him knocking shelves over. He grabbed and de-activated her cell phone, so she took shelter in the bathroom with the Macbook and posted their coordinates so that the internet could send help over. Police was called and came to the rescue; I'm not certain but it appears Colt was arrested.

Debbie is apparently out of town for the live show... Larissa is staying with friends.

@Toaster Strudel  I came here to see if anyone had posted about that!  I was following it on instagram as fast as John Yates could update.  Of course (BECAUSE OF COURSE) Jesse chimes in to assure us everything is under control and remind us that HE TOO once experienced an episode of domestic violence ("in CT" in case we forgot who he was.  DUDE, We're TRYING.) and make it all about him somehow.  

What a mess.  Also, I will keep 1-800-PSYCHICSTRUDEL at the ready for my own life's mess.  :)

I was going to post exactly the same thing.  Their co-dependent relationship is abnormal and very disturbing.  I would be not surprised to learn that they at some point either engaged in or came close to engaging in incest.

Not feeling sorry for Larissa.. if she had any smarts and wasn’t looking solely for a green card, once she got off that plane and no flowers, no a/c and not much of anything, she should  have gotten the first flight back to Brazil. I suspect she figured she’d manipulate Colt via his lower half and get the upper hand in the relationship.

Update from Cultee, very condescending and insensitive if even half of what he is saying is true. "Problems that do not exist" - well they do exist if she considers somethings to be problems, what a doofus. I don't believe for a moment that he thought taking her phone and de-activating it was going to defuse the situation, of course it is a threat.  The photo of the roses in the waste basket is spiteful and unnecessary.

Yeah......My first thought is that was what abusive people do; try to make their victim seem crazy to other people.  SHE has depression and anxiety....SHE over-reacted to problems that don't exist.....SHE felt threatened after I tried to forcefully cut off all contact for her.  Poor little me had handcuffs put on and guns drawn at me.   Didn't he ban her from mentioning their relationship on social media?  So, I guess he figures his version will be believed b/c she is either in jail or would be making him madder by mentioning it. This makes him seem emotionaly abusive and a gaslighter.  I would not be surprised if he told police that she had slapped him or something when he took her phone.  I wonder if he bailed her out?  I hope she leaves him.

 

Another thought I had is that Colt definitely had an advantage when speaking with police; her English is not that great and she may not have understood everything.

I hope she does too. And if she stays.... that pretty much tells me she’s another Darcy and digging the drama. She’s way too into social media and his/her “fans” and instagramming. No need to call out to her fans to get help, call 911. Instagramming serious concerns with a filter giving her a crown of flowers and fuzzy-ing 10 yrs off her face. And all the day or two before the show.

Is Colt strange, yeah, but she’s an odd duck too. Carrying on over flowers and she seems to have a “fat phobia” the  way she appeared  disgusted by Cookie Dough. If Colt, Debbie, Vegas and fat cats aren’t her cup of tea, then cut your losses, get a divorce/annulment and move on. 

What real future do they have if she’s slready been arrested for DV at this point, there’s only downhill from here.

Several pages ago I floated the idea that Debster may deserve a little sympathy for raising a manchild on the spectrum to a position in life that she could never aspire to. That's something. I also wondered if Debster was so upset (last episode) because she knows her son, and perhaps he has triggers and meltdowns. She'd feel him getting close to his limit while Larissa continued to drive him there. Not saying that's reasonable AT ALL, but she may be the only woman that has willingly lived with Coltee.  I'm wondering if this was one of Coltee's meltdowns.

Reminds me of Jon’s mum in England. She always gave off vibes that she was waiting for him to meltdown. Larissa seems high strung but Colt looks like he has real issues like taking her phone

If she has no money to go, then she’s a bigger fool than I thought. Who leaves their home ( however humble or poor) to marry  and move with a virtual stranger to a whole new country with NO SUPPORT and no emergency exit plans. Larissa isn’t 20 yr old Fernanda or Olga, she’s in her thirties and should have much more sense. 

This situation should be a huge warning to TLC and any American women thinking of going to a foreign country with a foreign spouse and foreign women thinking of coming here with no means of getting out of a bad situation

If it turns out that Larissa was setting him up, she’d better be escorted to the nearest border crossing and adios!!

Well we don't know what her situation was in Brazil; but Colt had to buy her plane tickets and she hasn't been working while here if she doesn't have her green card yet.  I don't think he gives her access to the finances ; she can't even buy a couch that she wants.  She has no family here ; the primary people she knows are Colt and his family.  Hopefully she has made friends since being here; I think she is friendly with several of the cast members.  Most of them coming here on a K1 visa have no support- they have to trust the person they are marrying.

You may find it bizarre and creepy (even "gross and disturbing,") but many financial institutions will tell you it's quite common with a widowed mother and her child/children.  If Colt was 14 when his father died, both he and Debbie probably began receiving Social Security Survivor Benefits then.  Having both checks auto-deposited into one account may have seemed the easiest/best solution at the time--the easier way to budget their money. Debbie was going to have to handle all the finances--perhaps a first fir her.  Low income is probably the reason they continued to live together (and seemed to get along well...until Larissa).

This is what i thought as well. Colt at 14 would need a representative payee which usually the surviving parent. Social security won't give the money to a 14 year old. His mother making it a joint account is actually nice. She would have the right to spend the money on his care, paying for food, power bill, housing and never give him a penny so if she let him have some or choose how to spend some mean she is not as controlling as being shown. 

 

I'll wait to see what happens at the hearing on Monday to see what story to believe, if here is some counseling ordered, case dropped, charges press on...

They are very strange people with a seemingly unhealthy,  codependent  relationship,  but I don't think there was any incest between Colt and his mother.

Also, I read that Jesse (last season American model wannabee) and Ashley (this season's main female ephebophilist with a black fetish to boot) both offered to help Larissa by sending her money for airfare. Ashley apparently told Larissa that she could stay with her in PA for a while if she didn't feel safe.  LOL! Sure, get those cameras rolling! I can't imagine she and Jay are still going at it like bunny rabbits in the backseat of the car, but you never know.
