Statistically, B&T were incredibly lucky to have a young white couple pick them in the first place. Notice that they've apparently never been able to adopt again. When you're in their position, until that adoption is final, you will literally go along with anything to avoid jeopardizing losing the baby and disrupting the process. I'm sure they weren't thrilled with the cameras, but as I said, people will do anything. Now they're stuck, unable to completely split off because now there's Nova, and in the end Nova is Carly's full blood sister, so they have to technically keep that door somewhat open. Carly will be a teenager soon with all sorts of feelings on the matter, I'm sure they are not looking forward to Carly rewatching this show, which you know she and all her friends will. I think they're doing the right thing for the moment, but I'm pretty sure they think of MTV as a cloud hanging over them every day.

Getting back to C&T themselves, it struck me that Tyler just might want to get that 2nd child in with Catelynn while he can because he's subconsciously not sure how long he will be able to put up with his life under lock and key as Catelynn's husband. This "online boutique" is a distraction for the time being, but it's not going to do well, and there is no way Tyler has hung up the rest of his entire adult life just to sit around with Catelynn. It won't take long for him to figure out that every other teen mom's ex is still on the show, and that he doesn't actually need to stay with Catelynn to stay on the show, either.

Tick Tock Tick Tock.

Technically, they have every right to slam that fucking door shut, Nova or not. And I say that as an adopted child.

So does Tyler have an "eating disorder" now?

Didn't he claim one back when he was telling Dr. Drew about his suicide attempt by hanging? It was that or cutting, or both, and Dr. Drew said to him something like, "And you started off cutting or purging before that, right?" and he said yes, even though it was pretty clear his story was bull from the beginning and he had no idea that people tend to start with other dangerous self-punishments before suicide attempts until Dr. Drew said it.

I had forgotten the Bethany Babystealers, Inc. moniker.  That along with Stripper Fairy Dress (Say Yes to the Dress) reference and Uncle Bad Touch/ID Channel for Jenelle's loser bf David never fail to make me smile.

Me, too!  I have used "Stripper Fairy Dress" in conversation many times!

This.

I also say it as an adopted child.

I can't wait for the day when Carly herself tells C&T to fuck off. I guess that is my wishful thinking. B&T didn't raise that child to be that way. I am sure Carly will be cordial and nice, but hopefully she will resist and keep her distance.

Imagine the backlash if you vote no.

I love MTV's excuse it was "too heavy". No Tyler, it was cancelled because it sucked.

If I recall, that wasn't a big cable night anyway.  I know a bunch of us here said we wouldn't watch it, or record it, because we would be hanging out with Snoop and Martha that night.  I wonder how it got #2 and what show got #1, and what the ratings difference was.  And yes, it was too heavy.  But not in the way Tyler thinks it was.

Haha, yea, someone on that show is definitely too heavy.

Touché. Cate's weight and Tyler's head. I hope that is the same reason MTV gives Kail about her shit show, the one about her meeting people with interesting jobs that was in production a while back..."Kail, you and your show are too heavy."

It rated #2 because didn't come on right after a Teen Mom episode? Put that shit show on at a different time on a different day and see how it would have done in the ratings.

In the After Show with the dads, Tyler and Gary were sitting next to each other. I couldn't tell if Gary lost weight (if so, good for him) or Tyler had gained weight....but the differences between their sizes are not as big as I remember them being. Also, Tyler's head is especially tiny looking when he's sitting so close to two dudes with normal size heads.

Out of the shallow pool, now.....

What the fuck is Tyler saying?  Number 2 on Cable that night?  Reunited was #15 behind such scintillating offerings as American Dad and Martha & Snoop Potluck, with only 883,000 viewers.  The only reason it had that many viewers was because everyone who DVR'd the Teen Mom series automatically had Reunited recorded as well.  The show wasn't too heavy, it was a just a smelly turd on the floor of Cable Television's spare bedroom.   Maybe that's what he meant by "Number Two."

Thank you for pulling up the ratings. We discussed them here in December. Where does Tyler have the nerve to say they were ranked at #2?!!  He is such a narcissist.

I voted no, they can't tell who votes what, so I encourage the rest of you to do the same (if you agree not because I say so lol) it was a lame awkward show... that's why MTV said no. Like 80% of the replies are "what it's not too heavy" there were only like 2 negative comments and they yes's are overwhelming.

Cate put the same poll on her Twitter about an hour ago. It's 90% Yes and 10% No so far. I voted No on both. That show was so stupid. Why is the poll open for 6 days? Usually it's 24 hours.

I was wondering the same thing, Poopchute. I voted no on both polls and scrolled through the comments, but didn't see anyone call them out on the fact that it was NOT number two that night, well in the slang term for number two I guess it was. My Twitter is my real name and I'm too lazy to create a troll account, since I may lose myself on Twitter tweeting these fools, as opposed to talking about them here.

I couldn't find it on catelynns, just where she retweeted Tyler's. Mtv isn't dumb, obviously the majority of people who follow them are just going to say yes, whether they liked it or not because their fan base is ridiculous, I had to search it out to vote because I don't follow them, and most sane people don't put that much effort into searching for something they don't like to say no to. I also wouldn't be shocked if they had people voting with fake accounts. The real numbers don't lie, it was a flop, of MTV was really considering it they would run their own poll, not one already coming from a biased source.

Tyler should take the show to TLC, it would probably be picked up.

They already have a similar show. It's probably cheaper to produce because it isn't hosted by celebrities like Tyler and Catelynn.

If MTV actually said it was too heavy for their network, they were most likely referencing Catelynn's weight. I'm not body snarking/fat shaming -- if she was fit and cared about her health, she'd have a chance but she was filmed sitting like a sack of potatoes.

This cracked me up.

Hey, Ty-Ty, have you heard of this little show called "True Life" that aired on MTV for about 15 years (or maybe still does, in which case it's actually closer to 20)? While a fair amount of fluffy topics, it covered storylines where people were filmed shooting up, offering to turn tricks for drug money, missing limbs after returning from combat, suffering from PTSD, one where a teenage couple had to euthanize the family dog because they couldn't afford to feed him anymore, one where a family was being evicted and had nowhere to go and were facing homelessness, people suffering from Tourettes, eating disorders- believe me, your little "Adoptee meets his or her birth parents on someone else's dime in exchange for letting it air on TV" is hardly the grittiest thing MTV has ever shown.

If you read the responses there are a bunch that point that out and he says "I know!" There's also a bunch that say (paraphrasing) this is too heavy but you film a porn star...they are really missing the point lol.

So, @leighroda, if I understand right, the majority seem to feel that MTV is being hypocritical, rather than the other obvious conclusion that "too heavy" is a polite way of saying "piss off"?

ETA: I kind of love MTV for picking an excuse that is so obviously untrue.  MTV is the millennial version of the popular cheerleader telling the class nerd she can't go out with him because she has to stay home and wash her hair.

That's my takeaway from the situation. I agree, the only thing better would be MTV *actually* saying "your show sucked balls... more than you did in New Orleans"

And the TLC version doesn't spend half the time just showing the host eating various food, including her own scabs.

Well, while them directly telling Tyler that his show sucked would be more satisfying, the fact that their attempt to mollify him is so insincere and so clearly untrue, is a decent consolation prize.

I'm reminded of a scene from Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead:

Brian the Clown Dog Drive: Hey, you want to go to a baseball game with me?

Sue Ellen: Sure! I love baseball!

Brian the Clown Dog Driver: Great! My sister and her boyfriend have two extra tickets, let's double with them:

Sue Ellen (who hates Brian's sister): Oh... I forgot...I uh, I hate baseball. No thanks.

holy crap, I love that movie! literally just  the other day my boss asked me to do something (her name's not Rose) & I said, "I'm right on top of that Rose!" and she got it, and she laughed.

And this was 833,000 viewers P2+ which is not even the demo that matters.

Not only that, but how many fake accounts did Tyler and Cate use to vote yes on that poll? The sluggish twins have no life and all the time in the world to make fake Twitter accounts.

That is when Cate would fit in perfectly with TLC. She can be part of their show My Strange Addiction.

Oh, we know MTV doesn't have the balls to tell C&T the truth. Those two are their babies and they aren't going to upset them. God knows that may throw them into a depression. Cate may go beserk and start overdosing on boogers and scabs. Cate might order five 7 pound quesadillas and pour the entire container of salt on the. She might go to Boogie Town and stay there. Tyler will run to the nearest strip club or heaven forbid, he will dump Cate and go back to New Orleans.

They looked unprepared and unprofessional on that show. They're not licensed counselors and they couldn't provide any real guidance to that family. Their "celebrity" sucked up the entire room. It was boring and awkward as fuck.

They just wanted a free trip to Hawaii under the guise of altruism.
