Yeah, I wasn't really sure how it would help, I just suggested something while the juxtaposition of funny snark and stark reality was fresh in my brain before really thinking it through.

I know most of what we snark on here is really kind of sad if you think about it too hard, but the new revelation about Matt's past is just beyond my abilities to spin into light afternoon internet discussions about my guilty pleasure reality shows and I was just thinking of a way to corral it. If that makes sense.

I do understand.

I think it is beyond despicable and disgusting that rape has now entered the picture with regards to Matt. I fully believe this claim and do believe there are more victims.

I found Matt to be sketchy from the start. The mention of him possibly hurting Leah has led to some serious discussions and concerns. I think we have done pretty well with going from snark to seriousness. This damn show has brought forth domestic violence, drug use, child abuse in varying degrees, alcoholism, and so many other crimes and behaviors where we went back and forth from being funny to then pointing out the seriousness of such acts.

capital gains taxes are a BITCH. Uncle Sam is going to want about 30%.

Unless she holds these properties for a year, she's not getting the long-term capital gains rate, so her gains will be taxed the same as ordinary income. Ouch.

Back to house flipping, there is likely a reason why Amber and Matt unload the houses rather than rent. They are getting rid of them as quickly as possible because being landlords/owners would make them liable should something happen due to shoddy work..

I'm done with this show. I've snarked on it since season 1 but this is too much. Fuck Matt, fuck Amber, and fuck MTV. I'm not going to watch a show that lets a rapist and deadbeat dad tell his side of the story. Amber can go to hell too. Everyone in her circle warned her about Matt, and if she had any common sense at all she never would have started dating him. I found her actually quite likable in her 16 & Pregnant episode, but just so, so hateful in every season since. Even when she came out of gel, in the first episode, she blamed Gary for her incarceration. From right there, I knew she hadn't changed and she just gets worse. 

I can't feel sorry for her at all. I think someone already mentioned, she was the abuser in a relationship, doesn't pay child support or work, so she's cut from the same cloth as Matt as far as I'm concerned.

So am I following this correctly?  Amber and Matt probably have 9 kids between the two of them and neither of them thinks it is particularly important to pay child support?  And yet they've got $20K to put down on a crappy flip house and take a vacation to Disneyworld? 

 

I have to say that I think Gary's actually done a really good job with raising Leah. Aside from Jace, whose father is totally absent from his life, I think Leah's probably had the roughest road with her mother having spent time in actual prison. But she seems pretty smart and she always looks clean and well-groomed. Her life seems really stable. And maybe we missed it but I don't remember at least seeing her getting too involved in the romantic lives of her parents the way even Chelsea's encouraged Aubree to do. Gary didn't seem desperate to find a mate - if he was, he didn't make it obvious.

I think I figured out what happened with Matt's kids. When they do DNA testing, they always say the odds are 99.something percent certain. Matt must be in that 0.1 percent. It's about the same odds as, just an example, getting pregnant on Depo...so I guess it's possible?

toody woody....remember when Amber was sent to rehab in California?  She took a liking to her married, male therapist & tried to get him into bed, playing the "Poor Little Me" card. During their sessions, she's  seen holding his hands, stroking his shoulders & sitting in his lap.  When the therapist says her behavior is inappropriate & asks her to stop, she starts crying for Gary & Boo-Boo. Those behaviors continued until the therapist reminded her, if she was asked to leave rehab, it meant she would have to return to Indiana to finish out her jail sentence. Angry because this man rejected her advances, she signs herself out of rehab.  I hate to say it but Amber's "Trailer Park Trash" who wants what she wants & doesn't care who she hurts.
