Unless she is completely holed up in her manse for days on end, there's no way she would've missed her family discussing Garrison's homecoming.  NO WAY.  There would've been excitement from nearly everyone.  There would've been preparations - getting his room ready, buying food, etc.  I absolutely think that this was another passive-aggressive test by Mean Meri...as in, how bad do they want me there?  I ain't going unless someone asks me straight up to go, and if I don't go, how long will it take for someone to run over to my house and let me know that Garrison is home?  I didn't see the show but it sounds like Meri and the rest of the fam have quite the showdown going on.  Meri won't cross the street unless invited, and no one is going to invite her to something she surely already had to have known about.  Meri is full of crap.

I cannot justify upgrading my cable just for this show!  I can't do it, I would feel so ICKY!

Irregardless is indeed a word. It is informal and controversial, but it exists and is defined.

It might be defined but it's not grammatically correct. You will be deducted points on an SAT if you don't know that. ;) I know that may not matter to a lot of people, but it says a lot about education level if someone insists on using incorrect grammar. Especially if that someone is on tv. And always trying to appear as the great intellectual.

It’s not about having somewhere to live. Both Meri and her mom just want their family house. Which is understandable. But expecting the family to cough up for it and not have it be a business is ridiculous.

Maybe he bought the watch in bulk and everyone and their SO will eventually get one.

Expand

It's also entirely possible the watch manufacturer gave Kody the watches with the agreement he'd make a big deal of giving them as gifts on the show.  Even though many of the comments are negative, the fact that people are talking about the watches is a boost for the watch maker.  There will probably be people who are curious enough to look up the information and actually buy something in the process.  Product placement tends to work, and the Browns LOVE their free stuff.  Even better if they can pass it off as some kind of generous gift.

Oh I agree, it irks me, that word. I just wanted to point out that while it is not classified as standard english, it is in the dictionary. I've resigned myself to the fact that it is not going away.

Even using the word "literally" when you do not actually mean literally is being accepted by TPTB as an informal or slang term. So now, you have to really emphasize "literally" to make someone understand that you mean literally!

Other grammatical situations that really bug me: pronouncing the "T" in often - it was drilled into me in school that the "T" was silent! But not anymore, apparently.

Also, when someone says that they "could" care less when what they mean is that they couldn't care less. Ooooh, that bugs me!

I just can't with the Browns. They spend an entire season prattling on about how they're being persecuted for THEIR RELIGION and about how THEIR RELIGION is so important to them that they're willing to move away for it, and they view their show as evangelism for polygamy (hint: nobody is rushing to sign up for plural marriage based on what they see on TLC), and blah blah. But when it comes to their own kids, and the issue of being FLDS and polygamists, which they're supposed to think is SO IMPORTANT and concerning ONE'S SOUL, they handwave about how they're just happy their kids have some sort of faith, as if religions are interchangeable, and they don't care that not a single damn one of "their" kids wants to be a polygamist.

Your rock-solid deep-seated faith is really awe-inspiring, Kody and Ko.

Expand

I actually like that about them. My faith is very important to me. But it's MY faith. I would love for my children to believe as I do, but they're free to choose whatever seems important to them, even if that means no faith. I hate a lot of things the Browns do, but I appreciate how un-Duggar like they are when it comes to their kids. Their kids choose other faiths, wear more "risque" clothing, kiss before marriage. None are shunned or condemned. It's nice.

Luckily, Mr. Xword doesn't drink.  He is a constant channel surfer (drives me nuts, so we each have our own TV) and showed me the Invicta? (I think) watch channel once.  Our cable apparently dedicates a shopping channel to watches.  Very weird.  Neither of us has worn a watch since we retired, so no purchases from us.

Many of the Hoarder-type shows I've watched have featured people who are addicted to shopping networks.  Many times, they never even open the items they buy.  Even weirder.

If a bathroom was indeed necessary for Maddie and Caleb, Kody and Janelle should have offered their master suite with attached bathroom (I'm presuming that the McMansions all have a master suite with its own BR.)  Caleb didn't look like he'd lost weight, but I guess it's possible he has an intestinal/digestive problem.

I wonder if the creepy tonymykelti wedding will be the last ep we see this (and hopefully last) season?

Expand

I get caught up in those shows.  And then I clean :).  But I can totally see this addiction.  We had a lot of little things we needed to get so over Nov/Dec we ordered quite a bit from Amazon and it was SOOOOO fun getting boxes delivered.

The bathroom thing was stupid.  There are multiple bathrooms in House of Janelle so even if Caleb is having a flare up of some sort of gastro illness it isn't as though eleventy billion people are sharing ONE bathroom.  Walk down the hall.  It won't kill ya.  I am saying this as someone with colitis.  Kids coming home should find a way to fit back in rather than uprooting everyone else's lives to accommodate them.  Want to guarantee you will have your own bathroom?  Pay your own damn rent!

  • Love 10

@Natalie68, I had colitis 2 years ago, and it was miserable!  The pills to treat it were crazy expensive, and it took over 3 months to get in to see a specialist, so I was pretty much housebound all summer.  I'm very lucky that it hasn't recurred.

But you're right.  It's not that big a dill to walk down the hall for an otherwise healthy adult.  I just thought if Doofus was so intent on the golden couple having their own special throne, he should be willing to give up a master suite to accommodate them.  Unless of course, he never sleeps at Janelle's house.  So kind of him to say he wouldn't want Janelle to give up stuff.  Asshole.

  • Love 6

Ok, first time poster after being a lurker for a bit, but can't stop my brain saying this:

Christine is in charge of something borrowed.  400 people invited to the wedding and the Mykelti/Tony couple can't seem to think paying for this is a big deal.

Would have LOVED to have seen Christine tell Mykelti - hey since I'm in charge of borrowed, I'm going to let you borrow my wedding dress for your wedding and then we don't have to pay for a dress for you!  Isn't that great??!!!  The look on Mykelti's face would have been priceless, because that dress was horrible.  And there you go - no making flowers, quick, easy, done and you saved money.  :-)

I don't get why remodeling is necessary either. That room looked like a pretty good size, with a bathroom right across the hall - have the kids use the other bathroom that was mentioned. I grew up in a house with two parents, four kids and ONE bathroom - I think they should be able to manage!

Expand

I believe Janelle said the room was like 20x20, which when you think that they will also have access to a full kitchen, living room, game room and a bathroom across the hall is plenty of room for a couple just starting out.

I know this may be a strange idea to Kody, but how about, if the bathroom door is closed it's in use.  Shocking I know.  Maybe he could save on the remodeling fees and put in a little sliding thing like on airplanes or port-a-potties where if it's green it's unoccupied and if it's red someone is in there.  And then Kody goes on about how a married couple needs their own bathroom - exactly how frisky does he think Maddie and Caleb are going to get in the bathroom???

Plus if you're married and move back home, you should be thankful for getting a room at all and you should be giving Janelle some money for room and board.

Because the do absolutely nothing that anyone would be interested in seeing.  They have to cook up major events in order to have something to film and then script accompanying drama to make it even mildly interesting.  Which, by the way, is an epic fail.  Now we're being subjected to the "move to Utah" as a replay of the "flight to Nevada" minus the fake sirens.

The turn around time for processing is too long for that.  A rush episode takes a minimum of two to three weeks to get on the air unless they drop working on everything else.

That said a year is just stale and is TLC scheduling and for some reason apparently known only to TLC they wanted to hold the episodes.
