Message added by Scarlett45,

Discussing the charges against Jana is fine, but do not post any information that reveals her address/contact information- even if said documents are public (i.e. a part of court proceedings.)

Discussing charges against Jana is NOT a jumping off point to speculate on other instances abuse/neglect etc towards the M-children or to elaborate on Josh's conviction and potential victims.

Think maybe Michelle was talking to Kendra out back by the inflatable thing. Pretty sure I also saw baby Madyson. And on reddit there is a screen shot of someone who appears to be Josiah. No sightings of Anna, Austin (though Joy and kids were there) or Lauren. But it's possible that Jana was careful with her editing.

Has anyone told Jana the show is over for good? Go ahead and show Anna, unless you’re ashamed, Jana.

Sorry, Jana, the public will not forget and your attempts to show a big, happy family are just comical. And how creepy is it that she continues to call full grown women and men “girls and boys?”

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but that headline is basically Exhibit A of why these people's careers as influencers are over. TLC was smart enough to see that and move on. But I don't think any of them are bright enough to grasp this yet. So, they'll keep trying these distraction posts that work on nobody and just keep attracting negative repetition of all the sordid details about Josh.

The thing is, they did recover from the 2015 scandals. Not completely - from all accounts they continued to be paid less per episode for Counting On than for 19 Kids and Counting, despite featuring more adults - but they did recover.

Which probably explains why they seem to think they can do so again. Post some videos showing that they are all perfectly happy to have Josh in jail and can certainly have a merry Xmas and plenty of cute babies/toddlers without him, let some time pass, and - hello, influencer return.

I'm less sure it's going to work this time, especially given the nature of this particular scandal. But none of this was the fault of the 18 younger kids, so. It might?

I think maybe Jana and the rest of the Duggars are getting too much credit. Beyond a few FU internet posts, which these might be, they kind of seem oblivious to optics. And other than Jessa, I never really felt any of the Duggar SM presence was actually to promote their show. It always felt to me they were doing what everyone else was doing - just posting their lives on SM (with a few influencing attempts).

With that said, Joy is taking a one month break and Jill hasn't posted for a bit, so maybe the trial has a couple of them reevaluating. I kind of doubt it though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Bob is actively encouraging this kind of thinking.

Don't underestimate the extent to which they've been brainwashed to believe that Daddy is always right and that he can fix anything. That belief has been sorely tested by Josh's arrest and conviction and the cancellation of Counting On. Jim Bob must be working overtime to stamp out any seeds of doubt and keep them all in line. The easiest way to do that would be to assure them that the loss of their TV "ministry" is just a temporary setback and that they'll be back on the air very soon, if not with TLC, then with a different cable network. He may even be making vague allusions to "offers" that he's considering. In the meantime, they must all pull together, keep the faith and present a cheerful, united face to the world (and the best way to do this is by pretending that Josh no longer exists).

There's a huge difference between the third scandal and a first scandal and any scandal involving child pornography, IMO. I firmly believe TLC pulled the plug when they found out Josh intended to go to trial, and I don't blame them.

The biggest problem is their billing as a wholesome family unit, which is the only reason they're famous. Good luck trying to convince anyone you're wholesome now after this and that Josh should just be discounted after years of beating the drum about how wholesome and godly and superior the family is.

Someone with better PR chops could pull it off maybe, but these are not those people.

IMO TLC made the second show for money and optics, so they're not an option, and no one else in the TV industry has any interest in the Duggars.

Oh, Court TV and/or Netflix and/or another streaming service would happily pick up the Duggars if - and only if - the Duggars agreed to lean into the true crime angle.  That's a solid two hour Court TV special; Netflix could probably find someone able to direct/edit a five hour miniseries.

But, a) that's a one time event, not an ongoing show, and b) that seems to be opposite of what Jana, at least, seems to be trying to present in these videos: a wholesome Christian family that plays music together on Christmas and has lots of adorable toddlers and babies.

It's even possible that Jana posted these videos in part to discourage any approaches from the true crime angle.

Oh, 100%. To be fair, I think a few of them either do get the difference, or hang around with people who do. Jinger and Jeremy, for instance, hang out with plenty of D list Hollywood people and people desperate to become D list Hollywood people, so, yeah, they either know or they've been told.

Jim Bob seems, how to put this, less aware.

Also, this.

Though I think it's at least possible that at least some of them are at least relieved, if not outright happy, that they won't have to hang out with Josh for at least a few years. So presenting that cheerful, united face might not be all that difficult.

Honestly, I think Jeremy and Jinger are some of the most inept at social media in the entire family, which is sort of impressive in how bad you have to be to win that sporting event.

Jessa's pretty awful, what with her stupid #sayingsofnotspecialchildren.

She is, but I'll give her credit for at least being somewhat consistent in her persona. Jinger and Jeremy seem to trade out personas and interests as quickly as they do underwear, and none of them seem to actually match their intended audience. LOL

Oh I can imagine a few networks that might be interested.   In presenting them as a "Good Christian Family who is being attacked for their faith."   Oh who knows they might just start streaming on their own and grifting for donations that way.   I shudder to think exactly how much they can actually bring in with that angle.

She’s not the only one. Audrey and Jeremy Roloff made a pilgrimage to the Silos, their first book in hand, in case they happened to meet J&C. What is it about these absolute nobodies that makes them think actual celebrities will just go all fan girl on them?

In the recent past the Gaines dodged questions of their pastor's homophobic statements.  I'm sure they'd stay far away from any Duggars.

The Gaines are first and foremost businesspeople. I don't get their appeal, but they do have a lot of mainstream fans and seem to have a better grasp of how to make money and brand themselves than the Duggars do. One of my friends has made the pilgrimage to Waco, which really shocked me when she told me. So, I'm not surprised they happily avoid the Duggars like the blight out of self-protection to avoid having their social media and business partners/network spammed with people complaining about a Duggar connection. It's cowardly, but it's not a bad idea.

Kirk Cameron has a very different persona/audience/source of income and delights in being controversial, so it doesn't surprise me he had no problem meeting them.

What's really sad is that if Jana had even an ounce of personality and parents that truly supported her ambitions, she most certainly could have created her own spin-off business and show with a home design premis.  Unfortunately her parents prefer to keep her stunted and the unfortunate happenings with her brother have totally squashed those dreams.  I wonder what she thinks her future holds now?

Being a Z list celebrity and part of a family or religion or cult or all three that tells you you're one of the most special people in the universe -- and especially chosen by God to tell everybody else what to do -- tends to make you believe you're more like an E-list celebrity, apparently.  😁

Especially if you breathe only the air of a tiny, uneducated, ill-informed bubble.

My guess: One day at a time of aggressively portraying herself as a person with a supremely happy heart because Jesus.

That's pretty much what she's always done once they beat her allegedly fairly vital original spirit out of her, I expect. It's just that now any and all tiny occasional  hopes or dreams that there could be a little change of some kind have probably been extinguished.

I expect Jessa's life trajectory has been and will be pretty much the same as Jana's, just with the twist of having a husband and kids. But the twist is kind of minor in real substance, as far as I can tell, She too still dangles from the umbilical cord, even though, like Jana, she probably had some hopes and some potential to do otherwise, I think..

That's why, while I generally loathe both Jer and Der (not yet sure how I feel about Austin), I still think Jill and Jingle are lucky to have them, since their marriages have at least carried them a little way from ground zero. So they're not jjust perpetually rebreathing the exact same air.

Jana is on a PR blitz. Look at us, one big happy family and so many friends. She posted a story with NYE party  at the big house. Lots of people. I wonder if this is just a holiday thing or is she going to keep trying to show us how wonderful they are and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain bars.

Even with the backing, Jana has no relevant education and isn’t particularly talented in home design, from what I’ve seen.
