Discussing the charges against Jana is fine, but do not post any information that reveals her address/contact information- even if said documents are public (i.e. a part of court proceedings.)

Discussing charges against Jana is NOT a jumping off point to speculate on other instances abuse/neglect etc towards the M-children or to elaborate on Josh's conviction and potential victims.

So, they rotate Family Fun Night--or whatever the hell it's called? I thought it was always at Mama and Daddy Jim Bob's?

is the first time we have seen family fun night has not been at the TTH? I think maybe it is.

It's not like they can all cram into Jessa, Joe or John's home. Josh apparently lives on the compound somewhere. Jill is not included for whatever reason. Jinger has fled to CA, so that leaves Joy or Josiah

Since Jedi is featured in the pic it seems maybe another fake photo op to distance him from living at or always being at the TTH.

no way Jana wrote that, but why was that a post at all?

is she threatened by the new Jinger loves baking posts?? Jana has always been the one portrayed as the "baker" of the family

they obviously have a new media specialist/PR person trying to step up their game and make them more personable.

then there is Jill left out. she is still doing her usual Jilly type posts

JoKen's house doesn't strike me as that small though. And they have all been to Jessa's house for the gender reveal that wasn't really a reveal.

Nine times is a bit excessive.   Baking is definitely something where you. Have. To. Follow. The. Directions.  No doing things half-assed or a little bit different.   Maybe if the Duggars actually educated their kids in chemistry they would know this.

Indeed. And, in fact, even if they educated their future stay-at-home housewives and mothers of a million in baking....Wouldn't even have to have been chemistry, more's the pity. And why the hell didn't they educate them in baking and cooking, at least? (Jessa not knowing she needed to brown hamburger before putting it into a casserole, for example....) Idiots.

Also -- nine times??? And she couldn't even try following the recipe exactly even once before that? Doing that never occurred to her?

She must have an IQ of about 70. ....not that that surprises me really.

Of course, this is highly likely to be a piece of fiction written by PR Laura or someone similar, I suppose.

Is the Great Duggar PR Blitz of 2019 working with anybody, I wonder?

If there is a new media person they need to be fired immediately for posting the same recipe filtered through Jana and Jingle at the same time. Maybe they’re trying to gauge public interest or something? It just makes no freaking sense and less the two of them are in some kind of weird baking competition with each other.

I don't think that they rotate Family Fun Night at all -- ever. It's part of the control mechanism over the adult children.

In this case, I think this is part of the Jed!2020 campaign to make Jed look like a modern young man instead of a Jesus robot who takes his marching orders from Gothard.

I would like for the Duggar parents to answer this question: Why is it 'ok' for Jed! to not live at home, even though he is an UNMARRIED person at his young age but it's NOT OK for Jana, who'll be 30 years old on 1/12 to not be allowed to have a job and live on her own?

I would like to think that at some point during Jed!2020's campaign, HE will be asked about his living apart from his parents in his unmarried state.

I wonder if he has the GOP nomination for that seat nailed down, or if there will be a primary election to select the GOP candidate. If the party isn't stoked to try to unseat the Dem incumbent, and/or there's not a strong candidate, I suppose Jed!2020 has the nomination essentially wrapped up.

Clearly his independence of thought and action will be a thing to behold.

I think that he plans to fall back on "Jesus," but I'm not sure it will work. His opponent seems to have a clear understanding of the fundie language (there's an example on the board somewhere), and Jed is completely uneducated and, I think, nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is. If he starts quoting Bible verses, she may well knock him out of the water -- and that maybe what she's hoping will happen.

Yeah I'd have to double-check her website, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well-articulated her policy platforms were, just in general, for a politician. She's a professional, well-educated woman who has spent years working in the local schools and seems genuinely passionate about certain issues regarding education. While he's yammering on about what his Mommy and Daddy taught him, she'll have talking points from, well, life.

Their websites are a fascinating study in contrasts.

My favorite though? The names. Megan for Arkansas versus Jed for Arkansas State Representative. 🤣

https://www.meganforarkansas.com/

https://www.jedduggar.com/

Jed bio:

"Jed Duggar was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas and is the owner of Champion Motorcars in Springdale. The 10th of 19 biological children, he was most recently the campaign manager for Senator Bob Ballinger’s successful 2018 State Senate bid. Prior to that, Jed served as a legislative assistant at the Arkansas State Capitol during the 2017 legislation session. For more than 10 years, he and his family have participated in many mission trips to remote villages in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, serving in orphanages and building churches. He is an active member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Springdale where he has led a Sunday morning ministry group at the Fayetteville Veterans Home since 2015.

Jed is a pro-life conservative and a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He is pro-business, pro-family, and is committed to putting Springdale’s conservative values first."

Megan's bio:

"

State Representative Megan Godfrey believes in a better Arkansas for all residents of Springdale. Driven by compassion, equality, and excellence, Megan advocates for families, for fairness, and for the future of our state.

Megan and her husband Daniel choose to raise their kids in Springdale because they see diversity as an asset. The cultures and experiences of the individuals who make up District 89 enrich our community. After learning Spanish at Springdale High School and the University of Arkansas, Megan went on to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities as a public school teacher, spending the majority of her career as an ESL teacher and specialist in Springdale and now serving as the Co-Director of ESL for Fayetteville Schools. She brings her servant leadership and advocacy to her role as the state representative of her hometown.

As a mom, Megan wants the best for her family. She also knows that all moms want the same for theirs. By fighting for a safe, supportive, successful Arkansas, Megan works hard to ensure that all residents of our community win.

In her first term, Representative Godfrey earned several awards and recognitions that District 89 can be proud of, including the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families Legislative Champion Award, the Arkansas Municipal League Distinguished Legislator Award, the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce Business Matters Leadership Award, 2019 Northwest Arkansas 40 Under 40, and serving as the House of Representatives Minority Leader Designee to the Arkansas Legislative Council."

On the issues, Jed's are very vague talking points about all the usual you'd expect: "Job growth.
Conservative values. Religious liberty." The only concrete anything he talks about is jobs, lower taxes, and the opioid crisis, but he doesn't seem to have any concrete actual ideas/proposals beyond more vague talking points.

Megan's slogan is "For Families, For Fairness, For the Future," and her messaging discipline on her website in working that in is good.

Here is her on the issues:

"FOR FAMILIES

Representative Godfrey’s values have been instilled in her by her close-knit family, and she and her husband are raising their own children to live out the ideals of compassion, empathy, and empowerment. Rep. Godfrey believes in supporting families through protected and expanded healthcare coverage, wages that allow families to better provide for their kids, and programs that help families get ahead. During her first term, Rep. Godfrey fought for families by investing in maternal and infant health, defending the minimum wage increase that voters approved, and championing bills that make life easier for working families.

FOR FAIRNESS

Representative Godfrey has always been motivated by her faith and her values of inclusiveness and opportunity. She believes that diversity is an asset that enriches our communities and that diverse voices and experiences should be elevated. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Rep. Godfrey understands the importance of communication with and for Arkansans who speak a language other than English. As your state representative, Rep. Godfrey advocated for fairness by promoting community safety and trust, speaking up for Springdale’s values of inclusion and equality, and passing her landmark bill for DACA nurses with overwhelming bipartisan support.

FOR THE FUTURE

Representative Godfrey believes that the best way to prepare a safe, supportive, successful Arkansas for our kids is to invest in them now. A career-long public educator, Rep. Godfrey believes wholeheartedly in strengthening our public schools and expanding educational opportunities for all Arkansas kids. Rep. Godfrey supports innovation and development by making investments in an improved quality of life and supporting efforts to build our economy from the ground up, not the top down. During the legislative session, Rep. Godfrey planned for the future of our community by working with the Governor to pass the highway plan, increasing teacher pay, and expanding in-state tuition to more Arkansas students."

For real! She's gotten a lot of buzz too for being an unusually active and effective freshman representative. She recently retweeted an article that noted her contest with Jed: "“He intends to run as a Republican against the best member of (#arleg), or at least someone in a tie with one or two others as the best.. Megan Godfrey, first-term Democrat of Springdale.. smart, accomplished, engaging and pragmatic in her progressivism.”

I also saw from poking around on Twitter that she was a homecoming queen at the U of A 15 years ago, and she posts some pics of her and her family at one of the games in Hogs regalia. She clearly knows her audience. 😉

My main takeaway, though, is she seems to know how to package herself as an electable Democrat in Arkansas. I have noted the demographics for her district skew more Democratic anyway, and that certainly helps, but she seems like a really savvy candidate who knows how to market herself smartly but without looking like she is trying too hard. Her PR team could probably give pointers to the Duggar girls about their social media presence. 😉

The 10th of 19 biological children,

Stupid question: do twins talk about themselves in singular birth order? For example, I have a friend who is a twin. She and her twin refer to themselves as “the oldest” as they were born first among their siblings. They don’t assign first and second to each other. Then again they come from a family of six and not 19 where counting is so blessedly important (or the only thing that is important). As he and sinner twin were being born did Meech call out “ten and eleven” and then continue to remind the boys of which one was first ?

Gawd Jedi is so smug

edited to add: or are he and sinner twin collectively the tenth of 19 and j whatever is twelfth?

Twin here. We spoke of ourselves as “the youngest “. Our sister who was 3 years older was “the oldest”. That’s how everyone else referred to us too. We didn’t specify which twin was born first and very few people asked. A few did and we would outline the birth order in those cases. Most people assumed I was just the youngest of the 3 kids because I was smaller than my twin.

My bet is that the statement's the product of the same driving force that's propelled Jim Bob to yell out to people in cities round the world that he's the father of 19 children -- Jim Bob's ego.

This campaign isn't really Jed's at all, is my guess. Like most if not all the Duggarlings, he doesn't have a thought or a plan of his own in his head. This is JIm Bob's campaign, in the sole service of JIm Bob's ego......

And the primary prop for JIm Bob's ego is that he has 19 kids!!!

Also, of course, it's a dogwhistle proclaiming that "will oppose abortion rights in any way I possibly can and at every opportunity...and, if I get the chance, also birth control and anything that promotes women's autonomy!"

Jim Bob, author of this campaign, was renowned for never even showing up at the statehouse unless one of those issues -- and maybe the teaching of evolution in the schools -- was on the docket.

It's ridiculous that Jed thinks being 1, of a litter of 19, matters at all. Even in his small community, he's also a fool for emphasizing his Duggarness. What this family doesn't know about mainstream life could fill volumes.

When you combine arrogance with arrested development you get a stunted Duggar adult running for office.
