  1. I was not a huge fan of this season, and judging from the few posts so far, I think people felt pretty "meh" about it, too. It's a shame, because I like everyone very much, with one exception - Dani. I would have liked less about Dani, and more the others. Journey was lovely, but I agree that she should have had more age-appropriate dates. The background music seemed louder and more intrusive this time around. It reminded me of children's shows, where background music or sound effects get louder to help express the emotions the show wants to convey. Considering that this show has been criticized for being condescending, I don't think the louder background music is a good choice.
  2. I liked Steve and Anna Leigh least of the four teams, so pleased with the result, but I must say I was impressed with Steve's effort this time. OK, he struggled a bit with the swimming (wearing shoes was not a good idea), but he did a good job with the dance. Dancing is clearly not his forte, but he worked hard to get it right and pushed through. He did way better at that task than I ever would. He "knocked it out of the park" - figuratively - in the hurling challenge, getting it right on the second try. And finally, when reciting the Joyce quote, he got it right on the first try and seemed to do it easily. I'm happy that their time on the show ended on a good note rather than them being hours behind because of a navigational error.
  3. My favorite seasons were the ones with Noel and Sandi Toksvig. I have always preferred Prue to Mary Berry, too. I think the formula works best with two men and two women as hosts and judges. While Sandi holds a special place in my heart, I thought Alison did a great job this season, and I am already looking forward to next season.
  4. I guess we are "getting our knickers in a twist" here, but it was obvious the bakers did not get enough time. They should have had two hours at least. Paul was on it like a fly on poop and would not stop referencing it, which was indeed annoying, especially as the rest of the show was fun and light-hearted. Such a lovely group of bakers. I have truly enjoyed this season.
  5. My Target has them for 99 cents a box. I remember getting Tomoe Ame (with the "amusing toy") from the Asian grocery store in my neighborhood in the 60s and 70s. Sometime in the 70s, the name was changed to Botan Ame, and now it has been Anglicized to Botan Rice Candy.
  6. I think having to wait an hour and fifteen minutes before it finally aired live killed the vibe in the room. Tiffany and Bret looked completely bored, and you could tell Chelsea, Paul, and Zach were over it, too.
  7. Looks like they forgot to bring the gold glassware when Chelsea's father came to visit. Both white and red wine for all three of them.
  8. I haven't followed golf much in the past 20 years or so, so I found this interesting and learned a bit about the newer players. I may be completely off base here, but I thought Dustin Johnson came across as a self-absorbed douche. I liked most of the players here, a couple I felt okay about, but I had a visceral dislike of Johnson.
  9. Nice job in the first pic having the star fit around Derick's head for that Statue of Liberty look!
  10. Hungarian is a completely different language group from Polish and Slovak. Polish and Slovak are languages in the Western Slavic branch of the Indo-European language group, while Hungarian is part of the Finno-Ugric language group.
  11. How about Charles, for Charles Lindbergh or Chuck Yeager? Lindbergh admired the Nazis, unfortunately, but that probably wouldn't faze JD much.
  12. At the risk of going OT, Title IX was not just about sports. It was about educational equity in general.
  13. They are in the NYC area, too. I am glad to see Izzy and Sam getting swimming lessons.
  14. "Sis" is a regional thing peculiar to Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and parts of Kansas. Not really my thing either, but it doesn't annoy me. I find their home to be just kind of "there". I don't think there is anything wrong with the house, but I don't find it to be something worth making a video about, either. If I were following her videos, I would be disappointed at how dull they are.
