I have to say I was thinking the same thing Maci was thinking - how the hell is Mackenzie 20???  She looks older than me and I am 40.  Maybe it is the fact that she has a MAJOR double chin/no neck combo, which makes her look older.

I will NEVER concede that that girl is anything less than 30, or that she is actually Ryan's girlfriend. Nope. I'll never be convinced.

We saw Catelyn using the stove in this episode so I guess she has finally learned how to google!

Except she had the pan WAY off to one side of the glass top burner. She totally wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. I feel badly for whoever ate those eggs. Unless it was her.

I was super distracted this episode by the giant DEAD headline and article about Marilyn Monroe right next to the front door at Cait and Tyler's new house. Is that supposed to remind them not to OD on pills every time they leave the house?

What is it with these people and Marilyn Monroe??? Aren't Matt and Amber super into her as well? And yea, a nice picture of her is one thing - a newspaper article announcing her death? Ummmmm....okay....?

I thought Bentley's party was fine...and I do think he probably has other favorite desserts other than cake, thus the brownie or whatever he had at the party.  I think the party suited him...nothing fancy, just playing around with his family.

I agree. When I see some of the parties the Housewives throw for their kids, I just cringe. My kids' birthday parties are like that - just family, maybe a friend or two. They pick their own dessert and sometimes it IS just brownies. Or some cookies. They like to help bake themselves and things don't always turn out super nice looking. Simpler is better,IMO.  But....would it have killed anyone to sing with some enthusiasm????

I just assumed the birthday scene (and other past scenes for other kids) was just for the cameras. Easier to just have family there who all agree to filming, rather than dealing with finding a location that will allow filming, letting all the friends and their parents know there will be cameras, get permission from all the friends and parents, and then dealing with other background people walking around at a public place that they either have to blur or also get permission from. I'd much rather have to deal with getting a birthday party planned and put together, and handling the various things that happen during the party, without cameras around.

I know the girls on this show make quite a bit of money, but Amber spends it like there is no worry for the future. As pointed out numerous times here this show isn't going to last forever, it already ended once and seems to be on it's last leg now, Amber acts like she inherited part of the Spelling empire (and we all know how well that worked out for Tori) I don't see how she could be living within her means now, let alone once the show ends. She spends on level with Farrah, but Farrah has her other sources of income.

I have to be quick here.

Welcome back @ghoulina!

Cate is so damn annoying. How hard is it to support your spouse for once? It is always about HER! Does she not care or is she that stupid? Is she afraid if Tyler speaks he might say he wants a separation? I don't think he would, but in her pea brain that is probably what she is thinking. She isn't battering the guy, but she is downright abusive. She called him a dick! When he called her a heifer, all hell broke loose, as it should have. Tyler gets called a dick for daring to express any feelings, and there is little mentioned about it. Catelynn's supporters were all over that shit in a heartbeat. They were on her social media so fast denouncing what he had said to her. It doesn't look like they did the same for him.

Sophia, such an annoying brat.

Amber is just a mess. Amber teed me off when she was putting Gary down and calling him a slumlord. Seriously, Amber? You, who lives in a pig sty, and I will agree with the rest of you, she does really resemble a sow (adult female pig). I have always felt that about her since day one. Now, she is living like one and lives with the biggest pig of them all.

My parents saved the newspapers from the Kennedy and MLK assassinations.  Are they on my wall greeting my guests? Hell no. Surprised Matt didn't buy those too since he's got that gigantic JFK art piece going up the stairs. Do they kiss it goodnight before bed?

I have kids these ages (well, not Matt's age) and these people are just screwed in the head. Unless Maci sticks a Marilyn poster in Jayde's room - I officially declare her the winner (lowwww bar).

And yes, something is off with Mackenzie. Ryan is in zombie land, and she's the nurse shooting him up with xanax.

Random thoughts on this episode:  That hayride was scary as hell and I only watched it on tv.  Sophia looked like she was possessed after telling her mom she didnt like the old nanny.  I'm no rocket scientist to begin with but I swear I lost more than a few brain cells listening to Farrah and her girlfriend.  Damn you MTV for making me feel sorry for Tyler.  He had the dead eyes.  Can you imagine how many times he has picked his dad up from jail? Dead eyes.   Cate looks like hell.  Cant she just comb her hair?   Every time I hear Matt attempt to interact with Boo Boo it sounds so forced and phony.  He is in this child's life cause of her mom's teen mom money.   Has Amber ever been seen near a stove on this show?   In the wise words of Farrah "We dont do ageism, racism, or any of the isms"......  :)

Tyler is so over all these people and must regret leaving New Orleans.  When he left the house to pick up Butch, Catelynn was still in bed. Say what you will about Tyler, but picking up an addicted parent from jail for the umpteenth time after months of direct lies to your face has to be hard. Pull yourself out of bed, splash some water on you face and show your husband some support. The day ended with her high as fuck at the dining room table telling Tyler to pretty much enable "but don't enable" Butch.   She provided nearly the textbook description of enabling as to what Tyler should do for his father.

Tyler knows, though, that for better or worse - Butch is a fan-favorite (to watch, not like as a person) and provides him with a storyline besides Cate's depression. And Tyler loves him some MTV money and "fame," so he won't distance himself from Butch or Catelynn because he knows his MTV career and fan girls depends on him staying with her and keeping Butch around for the cameras.

Am I the only one that is trying to figure out that after going on a wild spending spree for new furniture for their new house, that Amber and The Old Dude have blankets just thrown on top of the couches to cover them up?

Are we sure they're even the same couches? Maybe Amber had them on a payment plan and you know how she doesn't like to pay her bills...is it possible they were covering up the fact that she has different couches because the furniture company came and took her expensive ones back? I mean, it is super likely the animals ruined them though.

As for this Marilyn Monroe love all these girls have, I wonder what they really know about her besides the broad knowledge that she was a sex icon who suffered heartbreaks and died of an OD. Do they know anything about her childhood? Her mother's mental illness and how she was unable to raise Marilyn (then Norma Jean - do they even know that was her real name)? Do they know she was basically married off at a young age so she'd be someone else's responsibility? Do they know how she badly wanted to be a mother but had fertility problems/miscarriages that broke her heart? Can they list her husbands? Do they even know who Arthur Miller was? Do they know how Marilyn struggled to learn to be a better actress & be taken seriously? These girls probably know nothing about Marylin besides she was a curvy model who died who had an affair with JFK (and probably only Amber knows that because older Boston man Matt told her).  I bet they can't even list three (or perhaps even two) of Marilyn's movies. Marilyn's not even my favorite blonde bombshell of the era (I like her but prefer Jayne Mansfield) but I'm pretty sure I know more about these girls' IDOL than they do.

Is it just me or is the Teen Mom OG thread a lot slower than the TM2? Barely any engagement compared to previous seasons. A sign of its soon cancellation? I hope. I'd like to see Amber going back to the old days of having a car that always stalled on her.

Definitely! After i watch TM2 a day or 2 late, there are already about 7 pages of snark on here.  Here we are, 5 days after the TMOG episode, and barely 3 pages.

I think we are all pretty bored by the TM OG series.  We've observed very little growth in these women.  Farrah has the most business sense but she is still trapped in an abusive relationship with her mother. Maci is still the same teen who moved her toddler into a sorority house. Amber, the same - no growth at all. Catelynn is just sitting on a nicer couch than she would own if she never participated in the series. That's it.

I think a lot of viewers were lost when the original Teen Mom ended. They just didn't keep watching when they started filming again and it became OG. I probably should have stopped too. I'm so weak.

TM OG is kind of bland and uninteresting; especially compared with TM2.  Yeah, Farrah is psycho and all but it just isn't enough.  She isn't Jennelle crazy!

Nothing significant with Maci has changed.  Cate and Tyler have gotten married and had another baby but they are still stuck on Carly and the adoption.  No forward movement at all.

Amber...Matt, bless his heart, he tries to make it interesting but it just...isn't.

I still dvr and turn it on, but I have something else I'm doing while it is on.

I have my DVR set to record both TM2 and TMOG, and I just can't make myself watch more than a couple minutes of TMOG. I fast-forward through most of it, pause for 30 seconds, then hasten onward in disgust and boredom. I can no longer stand to watch these people acting like they have problems they don't have, and pretending they don't have the problems they do. It's all so false. Not only do I have no sympathy for them, I also have no curiosity. I am just not interested in their lives. There is nothing entertaining about it. Tyler and Cate are just pathetic: not very bright, lazy, unambitious people. Farrah lives in a fantasy world, Maci is boring, and Amber is basically mentally unwell.

With TM2, I find myself fast-forwarding through Chelsea and Leah. (The only interesting part about Leah's segments is the kids. I care about them, and Leah's parenting fails are sometimes entertaining, when they are not dangerous.) I still watch Jenelle's and Karl's segments cuz I care about Barb and Jace and Isaac and those other munchkins. There is a circus freak fascination with Jenelle and UBT, but I genuinely can't stand Karl at all anymore. She's a psychological disaster area. I truly don't know how anybody can tolerate being around her.

The interesting part of the show for me now is to see how incidental teen pregnancy was to their lives, and how having heaps of money dumped on them did not solve any of their problems but instead magnified what was already wrong inside them. Chelsea is the exception, but I find her segments too boring to watch.

I have to hand it to Farrah on that topic. I think she was trying to shut down what she believed was Sophia was projecting ("negative positivity"?) but at the same time trying to be empathetic to what Sophia probably encounters on a daily basis. Farrah being Farrah used her word vomiting skills and it came out all kinds of wrong as usual. I believe the sentiment was there.

I'm not convinced Farrah just shut her down cause the cameras were there. Personally I think Farrah has a whole lot of hate in her heart for all sorts of people. I remember poor "white trash" Larry the Producer. Since she lives in Texas now I can only imagine her opinions on immigrants. Except of course when she's paying them peanuts to do her yard work and pick up after that poor mini horse...who I suspect will soon be a victim (or saved) to the TM Disappearing Pets Syndrome. Farrah is actually the poster child for that one...

Thank you, Randy, for showing us that comparison but get a life. You're a professional person, act like one. This is your daughters show so let her be the one tweeting this stuff.

Idk, maybe I'm just in a bitchy mood but I DO love that tm2 season nearly doubled TMOG in ratings. I've always liked TM2 better even though I want Kailyn to lose the gravy train because she is a money snob now.

You summed it up perfectly.

Maybe now the TM OG kids are not as interesting as the TM2 kids.   There was lots of drama with Leah's having twins then one having health issues.  Plus Leah is a hot mess waiting to happen.   Major drama with Jennelle abandoning Jace to Barb, and all the chronic chaos associated with their situation.   Then there was Kail and all her crap trying to run Jo out of Issac's life.   Jennelle's revolving door of crazy guys!    Chelsea's plot is bland except for Adam being so disgruntled with the show and constantly giving the producers a hard time.

Farrah and Maci are very boring to me, and I think they'll be fine in the long run.  But I cannot take my eyes off of C&T and Amber. You can just feel the dark clouds gathering, and something majorly bad is coming their way. They're all just living on the fringe of sanity, and it's gonna blow up. I hate myself a bit (but not that much) for being so invested.

I skipped TMOG the season before last due to being so bored with these folks.

I am "watching" this season- and by that I mean holding the remote control in my hand and fast-forwarding through 75% of each episode, and then deleting it. Then I read here. But I have nothing to say because these folks are just too boring.

They're the same as they have been for years, just older. Yawn. I hope the fact that so many of us here feel this way means MTV will be shutting the OG down soon.

I would watch if the kids were shown more and if there were more scenes of them doing actual activities with the kids. But sitting on couches talking about their drama is like ambien.

I'm willing to bet $500 that none of them know who Arthur Miller is. That's also predicated on the fact I assume Cate and Tyler haven't actually read the article associated with the headline hanging in their foyer...

I'm pretty sure if you asked any of the TM/TM 2 cast what Death of a Salesman is they'd somehow associate it with their now many retail purchases or you'd get a blank stare...

people generally sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY too slow.  "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaapyyyyyyyyyyy Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirthdayyyyy to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..."

and that's why it always sounds so bad.  you have to sing it faster.  office parties, kids parties, always sounds bad.

That's why my easy bet is really sad.

Admittedly know nothing about teaching, et al., but am I wrong thinking Death of a Salesman is on most high school's curriculum? Also admittedly - I remember only a little about it (like the Glass Menagerie), and I prefer my plays with song and dance (love you Andrew Lloyd Weber - except for Cats)....

I agree TM OG is just boring and really sad, when it seems like none of them have really moved on from where they were at 16. I guess Maci sort of did, she now has a happy family with Taylor but I had kind of thought she wanted more from that when we were first introduced to her years and years ago. And her actual personality is still a 16 year old mean girl but I digress. I still feel like these people are even worse off than they were at 16. MTV didn't help them, it stunted them by adding a paycheck cushion for them. I don't think that helped them at all.

I was going to say that if we added the board books and stuff they read to their kiddos we might get a decent number, but then I remembered who we're talking about....excluding Chelsea (who seems like she probably read to Aubree) we're still not doing very well.
