staveDarsky April 8, 2017 Share April 8, 2017 From http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/fm26mr/broadchurch--series-3-episode-7 Hooray for local newspapers! The Broadchurch Echo and its formidable editor Maggie Radcliffe (Carolyn Pickles) are back, and she’s having no truck with the young woman who’s now her boss. Maggie knows that her paper is the very soul of the community she loves. But the young upstart who has the temerity to try to tell Maggie what to do doesn’t have local interests at heart when she tries to push Maggie to publish a potentially damaging story. “I am still the editor here!” says Maggie, rather magnificently. “I am so proud to be a journalist!” Blimey, it’s not often you hear anyone say that these days. But the town needs some kind of cohesion because the investigation into Trish Winterman’s rape is tearing it apart. Detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller face the inexorable ticking of the custody-clock. But the suspects are bobbing up thick and fast in the penultimate episode of Chris Chibnall’s thriller. 2 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo April 11, 2017 Author Share April 11, 2017 Of course the shit starts hitting the proverbial fan in the penultimate episode! My favorite part of this episode was Alec getting to tell those shitty little teenagers that if they even talk about Daisy, he will cut their tiny little cocks off. HA! Love that Ellie got her speech with Katie last week and Alec got his with those stupid boys this week. It's cathartic to hear things like that said out loud, even if it's only on tv. Heh and the look on Ellie's face after he told her that he realized his problem has been that he's too nice. Ha! I've been watching 13 Reasons Why and without getting into the plot too much, what that show has in common with the teen plot on Broadchurch is that guys think it's perfectly normal and acceptable to do shitty things to girls and then slut shame them afterward. It's sad and sickening to see that still happens. Similarly, Ian is so gross. First he left Trish for his coworker. Then while he was living with his new girlfriend/coworker, he installed spyware on Trish's laptop so he could watch her because he claims he missed her. Sorry, jerk, there is no excuse for spying on your ex like that. And Leo installed the spyware because "they're married." Oh, okay. As long as there's a piece of paper saying that you're legally connected, it's okay to invade someone's privacy! I'm glad Mark survived, mostly because I didn't want Chloe to live with the lifelong guilt of wondering what she could have done to save him. I recognize that Mark is depressed and that he needs help, but he needs PROFESSIONAL help, not just bitching to Paul. As Beth said, his grief leaves no room for hers or anyone else's which I can see would be really frustrating for her. I'm glad she was able to hold it together while she was at the hospital with Mark but I'm really glad that she was able to let it all out with Paul. I think her reaction is common - she sees Mark's behavior as selfish instead of seeing that he really needs help. I don't mean that he needs to talk to her about it either. He needs a therapist, someone who can help guide him through his feelings of grief and guilt and help him heal. What he's been doing (obsessing about Joe Miller) is not the answer. Interesting that Paul is sick of it too. One thing I have learned from both this show and House is that everybody lies, but that lying doesn't necessarily make the liars guilty of anything but lying and being jerks. There are a lot of liars in this town, but obviously not all of the liars are guilty of raping Trish. Jim is the latest liar. If it were earlier in the season, I would assume his lies were a red herring but since we're so close to finding out who the rapist is, I'm considering him a suspect. I'm afraid for the cab driver's wife now that she's found his drawer of trophies. I'm sure he will have some kind of excuse like it's just stuff that people have left behind in his car, but give me a break. Love that Maggie refused to write a story about Mark's suicide attempt. I'm glad some people still have standards. And really, Caroline? You don't call yourself a feminist? I guess it's good you admit you are a misogynist? 18 Link to comment
Llywela April 11, 2017 Share April 11, 2017 Maggie's newspaper antagonist Caroline looks so much like the second woman who reported a rape - Laura Something - that for a good couple of episodes there I found myself assuming they were the same person! I'm really enjoying all the performances this season - both main and secondary cast, everyone is doing a great job. 3 Link to comment
mledawn April 11, 2017 Share April 11, 2017 (edited) Ian is absolute trash, I can't believe Trish didn't totally go off on him after he told her he was spying on her via her computer. What a dicksmack. Katie continues to be a completely terrible policewoman by handling the bag and rope with her bare hands. Ugh, get a new profession, you halfwit. Loved Hardy tearing a strip off those boys. I wish he would have recognised/known the cabbie's son in the middle so he could ramp right up about the porn on that kid's phone and getting busted with Tom. The tall one on the near end deserved a little special treatment as well. Little shits. That annoying newspaper woman not connecting how the ads ran contrary to the rape article indicates she should not be in her current position. If you can't understand nuance, what kind of writer are you? I'd guess a pretty crappy one... I now have realised that every little paragraph I wrote has an insult at the end so I will say that I don't care how schmoopy and cliché it was - I cried at all the women gathering down at the wharf for the night walk. I'm also glad Mark didn't succeed because poor Chloe has just been through enough. I liked how they showed Beth doing really well with Mark in the hospital and losing her mind with Paul later. I think Beth knows Mark needs professional help, she said it wasn't like "before" - now that he's actually tried to kill himself, they're beyond just being able to resolve it between the two of them (if they ever were at that point). Next week will be both amazing and sad - I can't wait for the resolution to this season, but I will be so sad to see the end of Miller and Hardy :( Edited April 11, 2017 by mledawn 16 Link to comment
NorthstarATL April 11, 2017 Share April 11, 2017 Well, the spyware was a surprise. I was assuming porn. Everything's pointing to Jim, but I don't see his motivation...unless he's the serial rapist, and NOT Trish's, which works with my earlier theories. Ed having all that evidence so neatly is so clearly a red herring. Jim might have stashed stuff there as payback for the beating. The "Take back the Night" walk was pleasant and all, but they just hearken back to an earlier era when women did not travel about except in pairs or with a chaperone. The only way to be safe, whether male or female, is to be cognizant of your surroundings and willing to defend oneself. It's always been a scary world, and somewhere along the way we were lulled into thinking that it isn't. 1 hour ago, mledawn said: Loved Hardy tearing a strip off those boys. H It was great that each had his or her parenting turn, and that they didn't jam them both in the same episode! I take back what I said about Beth last week. She obviously IS still pained by her son's death, but Mark is seemingly not giving anyone else room to grieve. The family needs therapy. And a dog. 10 Link to comment
staveDarsky April 11, 2017 Share April 11, 2017 Someone pointed out that the actress who played the awful newspaper syndicate woman was Ophelia to David Tennant's Hamlet -- in the same production that SOCO Brian was his Horatio. Have to laugh at Chris Chibnall bringing in actors familiar to David or Olivia. The guy playing Aaron the rapist was in Peep Show with OC. I am trusting that Chris Chibnall has an ultimate plan about finishing off Joe and that's why he had Mark rescued. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that. Andrew Buchan is doing a fantastic job of portraying depression and how suffocating the depressed person can make it for the rest of the family. At times his eyes look dead and he appears to have no tone in his face. Needless to say it was a huge surprise to see him in the hospital. The way the episode started with the black title cards after seeing the empty boat, I was sure he was dead. But I also figured that to keep focus on the assault case, Hardy and Ellie wouldn't find him till the end of the episode. Anyway, huge surprise. I'm not sure he won't try again, though. The writing for Hardy and Ellie was on point through this entire episode. That scene of them in the kitchen making tea and toast looked like a ballet. We all squealed when she stole a piece of his toast. Finally! Ellie gets to eat in Hardy's presence. Of course his bawling out to "the boys" was prime Hardy and the "I think I'm too nice to people", along with the tiniest hint of a smirk was perfect. And Ellie's come along so far. She delivers requests like she's still a people pleaser but she's all business under those Please and Thank Yous. At this point I don't really care if I guess the attacker correctly. It's just been fun reading everyone's notes on what they've seen. 11 Link to comment
Ravenya003 April 12, 2017 Share April 12, 2017 I guessed a few weeks back that Ian's need to get his hands on the laptop was because of spyware, which (though a real dick move) takes him off the suspect list. Yet I've honestly no clue who the culprit is, though by this time in the last two seasons I had already guessed the solution. So well done in that respect. My shot in the dark is that it's the cabby's son, simply because he's been noticeable, but flying under the radar all this time. He had easy access to all the material, a shitty home life (Freudian Excuse) and (if memory serves) is the one spreading the porn around school. He could be a sex addict of some kind. Along with the bollocking Hardy gave the teenage boys, I enjoyed Beth's vent to Paul in the church. I get that Mark is depressed and suicide is a delicate subject, but I can totally understand why Beth would think he was being selfish not to think of the effect his death would have on Chloe. And she gave a very succinct description of "manpain" (a term which has lost most of its meaning in recent years) by describing Mark as someone who believes his grief is greater than everyone else's - constantly sucking up the attention and oxygen in any given situation. I can relate. I loved Cath/Trish's "forgive me" exchange, given both had been fairly horrid to the other - I like to think Trish's daughter set that up. With one episode left to go, I'm interested to see if they can wrap all this up. It feels like there are still a lot of balls in the air. 10 Link to comment
Bama April 12, 2017 Share April 12, 2017 Quote "HOOOOOOOOOOOONK" Hardy - "POLICE! SHUT! UP!" Quote Hardy - "Long Dad rant about teenage boys being shitgibbons to teenage girls.....and I'll cut your tiny cocks off!" Quote Hardy - "I figured it out - I'm too nice to people!" Miller (looking completely WTF) - "Um...I....no, that's not it." Quote Miller - swipes Hardy's toast Hardy - "BLEARGGGGGGGH!" Can I just get a bottle episode of Miller and Hardy bantering and bickering while stealing each others food, making shitty tea, and eating scotch eggs? 20 Link to comment

NorthstarATL, the list of victims of crime who were both cognizant and defended themselves is long and varied. I don't want to derail so I will just quickly say I can't possibly disagree more with these two sentences, however; I completely agree with the Lattimer family needing therapy and a dog! Ravenya003 , the problem with the cabbie's son is that the historical rapes occurred a year and two years ago. That kid isn't the largest in his posse of pals, and he'd have been even smaller two years ago. His dad the cabbie is so damned creepy, he has sort of been my guess. 7 Link to comment

sinkwriter April 14, 2017 Share April 14, 2017 Seeing all those women walking together was powerful to me. I'll admit: it made me cry. P.S. Hardy kicked ass in this episode. Loved it! My money's still on the cabbie as the guilty one (and I'd be completely fine with that because he's a creepy jerk), but who knows? They may turn around and stun me with someone I hadn't even had eyes on. Hurry up, Monday! I want to know! 4 Link to comment

staveDarsky April 14, 2017 Share April 14, 2017 If we were going on to a fourth series, then I'd be happy with adding in all sorts of complicated details like someone filming the attack, being part of a larger porn ring, or making it Mark Latimer, who clearly needs a lot of help as it is. There's so much to wrap up for the trilogy and the present cases, that I think the answer to Trish's assault case will have to be pretty straightforward. Going forward, my main interest is what becomes of Hardy and Ellie. Chris Chibnall has vocally said this is the end of Broadchurch and the end of the trilogy, but would he possibly bring back our two detectives working together in another town or county so they could have more cases? Look at Vera (for those who know Brenda Blethyn's show). She's a detective in Yorkshire who gets rural murder after murder after murder to investigate. Frankly, I think he'd be stupid to kill off (figuratively or literally) these characters. Their partnership and characterization is a cash cow he should revisit. Chris Carter couldn't keep Mulder and Scully archived forever. Hardy and Miller are at least the same calibre. I hope he keeps them going with occasional 2-parters. 8 Link to comment
Lyndy April 17, 2017 Share April 17, 2017 I respect Chibnall for wanting to end it here even though I will miss these characters so much. Can someone cast Tennant and Colman in something else great? I love every scene they're in together. I love the friendship between Beth and the Reverend. There's something very sweet about their interactions. Also, I'm trying not to be callous but boy am I sick of the Mark Latimer Pity Parade. 6 Link to comment
voiceover August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 "As the Americans say: 'Screw you, Petal!' " -- Who are these Americans, and how long had they lived in England? Because I get the "screw", but to an American, "petal" is the thing you pull from a flower when you're trying to decide if he loves you. The moment Ian (Trish's ex) confessed to the spyware, Hardy and Miller straightened to attention in *exactly* the same way. I laughed out loud. Glad Mark didn't die but I totally get Beth's saying that his grief seems to push hers out of the way. 7 Link to comment
Last Time Lord August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 BBC America censored a word at the end of Hardy's verbal smackdown of the teen boys. I think I got the message, though. Hopefully, they did, too. Considering Arthur Darvill missed pretty much the entire first half of the second season of Legends Of Tomorrow, apparently, to give him time to do Broadchrch, I'm a little surprised at how little he's actually in it. I really loved the scene with him and Beth in this episode, and he has just been tragically underutilized this season. I think Creepy Cabbie is still my pick for the rapist. 4 Link to comment
Quilt Fairy August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 David Tennant had the Scottish brogue turned up to 11 in that rant! Thank goodness for closed captioning. Jodithgrace August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 (edited) Quote As the Americans say: 'Screw you, Petal!' I think it's my duty, as an American, to start saying this now. I seem to have missed all the other Americans saying it. I'm thinking disgusting cabbie now. Jim's guilt is just too circumstantial. Cath just happened to be away the weekends of the previous rapes and he had the (apparently) most popular brand of condoms. But the waitress did give him the time and possibly the motive. It's definitely between him and the cabbie, though. That cabbie is thoroughly disgusting, but that doesn't make him a rapist. I'm glad Mark survived. I should have realized he would when our last glimpse of him, showed hime still alive. No corpse, no death. TV rule of thumb. (and sometimes not even then!) He needs professional help. Hopefully he is being considered an attempted suicide by the hospital so that they will refer him to treatment. Though of course, they did release him, so who knows. This shouldn't be on Beth to nurse him back to some kind of mental health. Especial;y with her own anger, which is perfectly understandable. You can love somebody, but still want to hit them in the head with a plank. (been there..didn't do that) Edited August 10, 2017 by Jodithgrace 8 Link to comment
ghoulina August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 (edited) So I was right to question Mark's fate at the end of last episode! And here I was doubting myself. I'm not sure how I feel about him being alive. I know I sound insensitive, but I'm ready to put that storyline to bed. FLOVED Hardy threatening those teenage boys. He was perfection. Not sure how I felt about him tearing up his daughter's ticket, though. I also loved when he proclaimed that he is "too nice" to people....and Ellie's gobsmacked look in response. BAH! Okay, so Ed has been let go and Jim is currently on the hot seat. He has the same condoms used during the rape, he was trying to bang a waitress, but she shut him down, so he's wandering around pent up and frustrated. Maybe sees Trish and calls her over? Thinks they can have round 2 in the bushes. Except that's not how she remembers it. She was just attacked and straight up raped. Would he got that far? I don't know. I did get hung up on one thing Jim said - when Hardy and Millah asked him about the other woman who had been raped, who had called his tow service - he remembered her and her car. However, I thought the whole story with the woman was that she never received the tow service. She called and he never showed, so she started to walk, and that's when she was attacked. Am I remembering this all wrong? If I'm not, how would he know who she was? Still....I feel like it's not going to be Jim. And since I was keen on the cabbie from one of the first episodes, I better stick with him - since I was right about Joe from the get go. Trust your instincts, Ghoulina! You know, when you think about - Trish has been violated in so many ways. Not only was she raped, which is just about the worst form of violation, but her boss has also violated by stalking her for years and taking all those secret photos. And her husband has violated her by spying on her via the webcam. It's just really depressing. But her daughter's efforts to bring all the women of Broadchurch out and not let this fucker win really moved me. I won't lie, I teared up a bit. What a good kid. I also got a bit misty at Trish and Cath making up. If they can forgive each other, I guess I can as well. But....damnit, WHOSE DNA IS ON THE SOCK????? seacliffsal August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 I am so loving this season-great acting and a suspenseful story. I am still miffed that this is the last season. The interplay between Miller and Hardy is exceptional. I agree with others that I think it's the cabbie (well, until we see more development in the next episode). There is still a little bit of me though that thinks it might be Ian. Tears came to my eyes when the women marched/walked together. It reflects the very real fact that there are many people who purposefully hurt and take advantage of others. 2 Link to comment
Voice of Joy August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 (edited) So much fun to watch! First the whodunnit: At this point, my money is on Leo. He was "too" convincing as a "poor little me " in his interview. I think the sock DNA will be a red herring, because remember, Leo washes the socks, so he could have had anybody on the team's DNA on a sock. Maybe he was angry at Trish for dumping his mentor, and he wanted some kind of sick revenge. Maybe he's just a psycho. He certainly has the eyes for it. He lied about his girlfriend dumping him in his interview. And we know he has that cocky (no pun intended) attitude going on a lot of the time. He's my top suspect right now, but other people may be involved. Jim is an asshole supreme, but I'm not sure he did it. I was confused about his remembering the red car - didn't the woman say the tow never came? Is he lying about this? Ed is still hiding something, but I believe him when he says he wouldn't hurt Trish. (And how dumb is the daughter, pawing over the strings as evidence?) I think the cabbie is definitely into porn. Maybe he filmed the rape? Anyway, if he's not guilty I hope his wife takes a tire iron to his head anyway. Now to the fun stuff. How awesome was Hardy in that rant? The thick Scottish accent just makes it better, too. "Ye wee boys...". LOL. You go dad, you go. I wish Miller would clue Daisy in to the fact that she has a decent man as a father. Likewise Tom could use a little talk from Hardy regarding his mom. I laughed out loud at Miller's face when Hardy decided he was just too nice. Coleman should get some sort of award for that scene alone. This show has done a fantastic job showing how dealing with someone with clinical depression is a soul sucking, exhausting experience, and just how lost those people are to any sort of logic or reason. I hope they get Mark to accept the help he needs. I'm glad he lived for Chloe's sake. Trish's daughter's organized gathering was life affirming. She and Chloe are the true adults in the town. I want "poor me" little Daisy to grow a pair and tell her father that they need to invite the Millers over for dinner. Surely she has some of her father's resolve. And whoever above who said they'd watch an hour of Miller and Hardy bickering, I'd be right with you on the pew. I have mixed feelings for next week. I desperately want to know who did it, but I don't want to say goodbye to this show. PS - As an American, I've never heard of "screw you petal" either. That said, I was glad she told that woman off in high style. Edited August 10, 2017 by Voice of Joy 14 Link to comment

Voice of Joy August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 (edited) One more thing. When Leo got into the cab once, he told the cabbie to take him to "the usual place." Could it be that house that Hardy and Miller were at on the scene, wondering where the light came from? Maybe there is some kind of group that goes there for porn and they happened to be there that night? And that's why the cabbie is so vague about where his cab was, etc. And could that be where the missing cricket bat is? Just a thought. Edited August 10, 2017 by Voice of Joy 3 Link to comment
Bcharmer August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 Americans do say "screw you" quite a bit, so maybe that's what they meant? Perhaps "petal" was just tacked on, since it's what a Brit might say? That's the only thing I can think of, since "petal" is really not part of the average person's vernacular here. 18 Link to comment

No. I don't like her either, but refusing one label doesn't automatically equate to embracing the other. Partly because: they're not opposites. I'm not English, but that doesn't mean I'm Irish. I could be, but I'm not. 6 Link to comment
J-Man August 10, 2017 Share August 10, 2017 When Caroline and Maggie were arguing about the Latimer article (the first time), Maggie said something about "WAGS and weathergirls." (At least that's what the closed-captioning said.) What is a WAG? Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo August 10, 2017 Author Share August 10, 2017 Feminist = wanting equal rights for women If you don't want women to be paid the same rate as men for the same job then you're okay with women being treated unfairly. I was with Maggie during that entire conversation. Carolyn really had no problem with running a rape story next to photos of WAGs in bikinis. It reminded me of people who are like "It's okay that the Spanish basketball team took a photo making slanty eyes before the Beijing Olympics! What do you mean that's racist and inappropriate? Now let me go put on my Indian headdress for a music festival, paint my face black, and make monkey noises." 3 minutes ago, J-Man said: When Caroline and Maggie were arguing about the Latimer article (the first time), Maggie said something about "WAGS and weathergirls." (At least that's what the closed-captioning said.) What is a WAG? 'WAGS' are 'wives and girlfriends' usually in the context of a sporting team. The stereotype is of a (frequently) blonde who spends much of their time - and partner's money - shopping. 2 Link to comment

I missed where she said that. Equal pay wasn't the topic of their convo, was it? And just because you refuse the label, doesn't mean you don't fit the definition. I've known a number of women (and men!) who loudly claim the "feminist" label, yet turn out to be...not really. And plenty of women (and men) wouldn't dream of calling themselves "feminist" -- yet that's what they are. My dear late dad, among them. Getting back to the subject at hand: I can't remember how the S1 penultimate ep left me feeling -- but right now, I really want a few more eps to get this this resolved to my satisfaction. Of course, it could be what I really want is more Hardy & Miller screentime. Because I do remember feeling that way the first time ? Edited August 11, 2017 by voiceover 3 Link to comment
tennisgurl August 11, 2017 Share August 11, 2017 I could listen to Hardy scream at stupid kids all day long! The Scottish accent was just so strong that I thought Hardy was about to challenge them to a log throwing contest! I appreciate that, even in a really dark storyline, they allow some moments of humor and catharsis. Millers face when Hardy announced that is his problem was that he was "too nice" was just amazing. Like, her brain just couldn't handle that much ridiculousness. Even if Jim isn't the rapist, he is just such a dick. I mean, every suspect is a HUGE dick, but Jim was the episodes King Dick. Also, how does this guy get so many women to sleep with him? He isn't hideous or anything, but he isn't exactly a catch. Are there that few men in Broadchurch to choose from? Mark survived! I really thought he was finished when the episode cut away, but I should have remembered TV rule number one: No body, no death. I'm glad he survived, mainly because his family has been through enough. I do hope this means Mark gets some professional help now. Beth is a crisis counselor or something now, she should know someone who can help him, right? The cell phones and all the women was cheesy, but it still gave me feels. Reminded me of the bonfires of Danny at the of season one. Plus, Cath and Trish made up! They still need to have a LONG talk, but at least they made up for now. 6 Link to comment

phantom August 11, 2017 Share August 11, 2017 Even though Mark survived I was correct that Beth was furious, though her character showed more nuance that I thought using her victim assistance training to keep cool in the hospital. Mark just looks so dead inside. And Chloe broke my heart trying to fix everything. Kudos to you guys who noticed the discrepancy in Jim's story versus the earlier rape victim's about when/if he ever showed up with the tow truck. I think there is some kind of sick cooperation with Jim and the cabbie - both of them have fairly lone wolf jobs that allow them to roam freely late at night without people taking notice. 3 Link to comment

Perhaps "petal" was just tacked on, since it's what a Brit might say? That's the only thing I can think of, since "petal" is really not part of the average person's vernacular here. I could be wrong, but I think Maggie called Caroline "Petal" in an earlier episode, in sort of a derogatory way. I too took the "screw you" as the American reference. I have to add my love for Millah's face and sputtering dialogue when Hardy said he had been too nice. So perfect. 4 Link to comment

The one who said the tow truck never arrived was the woman Beth spoke with, who refused to talk to the police. The woman Jim remembered was the one who came forward a couple of episodes ago. The Scottish accent was just so strong that I thought Hardy was about to challenge them to a log throwing contest! This is one thing I really remember about the episode because it was so awesome, along with Ellie grabbing a piece of his toast and the look on her face when he said he's too nice. Hee! I don't like Jim, but Katie blaming him for losing her job was rich. Take some responsibility, Katie. Ian - pathetic or slimeball or both? Ugh. Sorry show, I just don't care about the Latimers except for when Beth interacts with Trish. Cath and Trish forgiving each other was an aw moment, as was the lights being lit. My guess is Jim raped Trish and cabbie is serial rapist. I really have no idea, that's why I'm not a detective, lol. Shoot, didn't realize next week is the series finale. No more new Hardy and Millah cases after that :( 2 Link to comment

But the cabbie has dirt on Jim. That's why he was choked by him. 2 Link to comment

The police learned from Jim's records that she'd used his services. Ah, bummer! You are right. It was the reluctant witness who never got the service. But that doesn't mean Jim didn't do it. The cabbie knows something. I'm wondering if the cabbie is more into Leah, than her mother. Leah goes to school with his son. Maybe he went out with her mother to get more info about Leah. I'm a bit surprised we've never seen all these teens admitting they know each other. No Tom saying, 'yeah, I heard about Daisy's video" or Daisy mentioning she had seen Leah at school and how embarrassing something so personal was so public. Just something. It's a small city. These kids ought to know each other. Another reason why I'm still feeling frustrated with Ellie and Tom's scenes. The writers could have used those scene to push the rape plot forward rather than just us seeing Ellie yell at the men in her life. And she knew about what happened to Daisy by the time they had that dinner scene. She could have asked him. Have you heard anything about Daisy Hardy at school? A natural question. I want Beth and Paul to hook up. I mean, the man has prayed for her for three years. That is kind of ...appealing. The fact he thinks about her that much. I know it's his job, but how he said felt so personal. He did the right thing praying for their marriage to survive, but since it hasn't! I am Team Paul. If he was good enough for Amy Pond, I think Beth would be lucky to have him. And finally, Hardy's threat to the boys of cutting off their pricks might have been genius in that I wonder of older teen boys would have the guts to tell their parents about that particular threat. But he's also lucky nobody was filming him. Unless that comes next week. 3 Link to comment

I think that is a fair guess. There has to be some surprise. Which means it may still be the old rich guy who owns the mansion. Which would annoy me. I don't know why Jim would tie Trish up if she was an unplanned rape. The cabbie feels more systematic to me. Like a creepy man with rituals. Jim might rape a drunk woman but hit someone and tie her up in the middle of a party? The other rapes were post party/bar in very quiet places. 1 Link to comment
Mabinogia August 12, 2017 Share August 12, 2017 Right now my money is on the cabbie, which makes me very worried about his wife. But what if it's the cabbie's step son? Maybe Cabbie is grooming him. I just can't get past that drawer of mementos, or perhaps trophies. I have the terrible feeling there is going to be a twist, though, and that it will piss me off. I hope they just go with what makes sense instead of trying to surprise us at the last minute. They haven't revisited that light Trish saw. I could see Trish being the kids first victim, Step Dad there filming it because he's so proud of his boy. UGH! I just hope the address that light. It could be a red herring, and that's okay, but at least address it. 5 Link to comment

I think he or his son recorded the rape (the light she saw), that's why the son flinched when Tom showed him the new porn he received, and I think the 2 of them have been distributing the porn. I need to go back and look at what else was in that drawer! 3 Link to comment
Mabinogia August 12, 2017 Share August 12, 2017 Ooh, good call about the flinch. I thought it was odd at the time that he wouldn't want to watch it. I'd got the impression Tom had shared porn with him in the past, so I doubt just getting caught would have made him no longer interesting. We'd love to think it's that easy, but it rarely is. lol And his relationship with the step dad is a weird one. More than typical "you're not my father" stuff. If the kid wasn't involved, I think he does know his step dad was, or knows step dad did something else creepy as fuck, like send out naked pics of a teenage girl? Cabbie is just WAY too creepy. He almost makes Jim look like a prize. 4 Link to comment
