Not to be pedantic, but the term "fake engagement ring" is ambiguous to me. I thought Jo meant the gem turned out to be fake (which would have been funny as hell) or it was a ring for a fake engagement for the show, but what she described was a ring with a setting to be filled at a future date.

It was a fake stone.  Remember she was flashing that stupid fake ring all around the country club?  Didn't it catch that idiot Kimberly's eye?  Kimberly of the "my husband would be MORE mad that I danced with a Puerto Rican than a guy in a wheelchair HAHA!"

I have a vague memory of Slade and Heather at some upscale jewelry store looking for rings. For Jo? The blonde he ended up with whose name escapes me? At some point Slade asks the owner/salesman/whatever if they could make a ring using, basically, glass instead of the good stones.

He was told...yeah...that's a no.

That does ring a bell... remember the time Slade and Jo tried to "accidentally" bump into some tacky rich dude and wife who put gems (probably fake) on their car hubcaps and riding horses so Slade could do business with him?

I found this funny and so Slade:  most websites list Slade as 46 years old, born 1973, but I re-watched season one (filmed in 2005), where he is quoted (and it’s also quoted in the OC Register) that he really started building wealth when he was 32 and 33.  So my husband did a deep dive on his age, and it turns out he was born in ‘68, thus he will be 52 in October.  He’s lying about his age, y’all!  Some more recent websites are now saying he was born in 1975, so our boy is making himself younger as he gets older.

I have heard that Laurie misrepresented her age, but it was not by a half of a decade (or more) and we all always knew that Laurie was vain as the day was long.  Slade tried so hard to pretend to be this “what you see is what you get” guy, and I’ve always felt a Vicki-like aversion to his bravado, so this is giving me tons of schadenfreude.

He also lied about being in the Tour de France in 1993.  The only way to ride in the TdF is to be on a professional team.  That year, the US sent a Motorola team, and Slade was never on any Motorola team’s roster.

In the season five reunion, Slade swore he had never dated Laurie, but when season two opened, everyone had the same story that Slade and Laurie went to a club in LA and Jo walked up to him and said either “nice date” or “nice fucking date,” depending on the person telling the story.  He also lied at the season five reunion when he told Andy that he started dating Gretchen before the call came in for her to do a second season, and Andy did the math and said that there were less than five months between Jeff’s passing and Gretchen’s invitation to rejoin the show (Gretchen had sworn that she had waited seven months to begin dating Slade after Jeff).  And when Andy called this out, Gretchen and Slade had the gall to both look annoyed by Andy, and Slade said in a very clipped tone, “Anyway.”  Like, he was annoyed that the truth would get in the way of his stated intentions with Gretchen.

Once someone lies once (or twice), I believe nothing else they say.

Everything he has ever said about having a job or his victim hood regarding child support is a lie, and not only Is it a lie, it’s a blatant one.  This man is shameless.  And aggressive toward women and, apparently, any man who he thinks crosses him. And he lies about the dumbest shit.  Does he really think he looks good enough for his age to shave half a decade off his age?  Even if his lie were to fly with America, we would just think we were looking at the oldest 46 year old to grace the earth.  Good job, Smily 🤮

Wait, didn't they show a photo of them together (Slade and Laurie) at the end of the season, as part of the "what are they doing now?" montage?🤔

Our favorite wallet hunter Lauri detected the distinct scent of fraud seeping from Slade's pores and bounced with the quickness.  😂

Lauri fascinated me...it's sad we went from the finesse of the Wallet hunter to the boredom of Emily and Gina.

I loved it when she came back to stir the shit, planted all of that gossip with Gretchen because she knew Gretchen would spread it like wildfire, and it all culminated with Vicki's shrieking outrage during the Whistler ski trip.

Well played, Lauri, well played.

Good times that season for RHOC  😂

I wasn't impressed by Lauri's attempts at stirring the pudding. She was vague and weird with her innuendo-- didn't she try to claim her daughter's porno star friend told her something?

I think she was intentionally being vague and weird with the innuendo so she could play innocent and say, "That's not what I said," which was true insofar as exact verbiage went, but it was definitely what she was conveying and everyone knew it 😂

I think Lauri looked the best I’ve ever seen her when she was commenting on S1E1.  She looked soft for the first time.  Maybe she put on a few pounds. It was the first time she didn’t look so frozen-faced Easter Island-headed with nude lipstick and Farrah Fawcett hair.  It only took her 15 years, but she updated her look.  She somehow managed to make the shape of her face less horsey. How did she do that?

Ashley though...rough looking for this side of 40.  Very hard edges.  Yikes.

What Lauri said about limos annoyed me.  She saw a limo on the show and scoffed about how no one takes limos anymore, they take party buses.  Like...ok, yes, if you’re going to Temecula, you take a party bus, but how does Lauri get to local black-tie events; does she take an Uber?  Does she hire an SUV where you have to juggle champagne on your lap and no privacy from the driver?  Is that better?  I think if a limo is good enough for Kim Kardashian West, it’s good enough for Lauri Waring Peterson.  Wannabe.  You can take the social grasper out of Idaho...God, I forgot how much I hated this bitch.

She never worked “for” Vicki, as she claimed in season eight, right.  I went back and re-watched season one and it is a fact that Lauri worked for Vicki in the beginning.  Who gives a shit?  My former bosses don’t define me, and neither do Lauri’s, but lies do.  I hate people who come back on reality TV just to stir shit or because they have a cross to bear.  She is the RHOC version of RHNJ’s Kim G or Kim D, and that ain’t a compliment.

I totally agree!

It's just that she wasn't very good at it.

Kimberly, definitely. She was pretentious, they all were that season except, strangely, Lauri. But I thought she was basically nice and pretty honest about all the pretense.

Honest about the pretense, yes. Nice- not in my eyes. She made some gross racist comments in her system (the horror of being hit on by a Puerto Rican guy comes to mind). She can stay gone.

Um, you could hate both lol

Alexis really triggered Heather by saying 'Angelina Jolie was a real actress ' thus dismissing Heather's acting delusions lol

I think that was what I did!

I was watching Season 7 (maybe) yesterday, and I can totally see Heather's machinations at work - she is way more transparent these days, it was harder to see then.

Alexis triggered her so much and I loved it.  How about Heather discussing the difference between auditioning vs getting offered a role... uuugh omg

But then Alexis going on and on listing her various cars (Phantom Bentley, Mercedes, Prius...) and Heather was DYING.

Watching old RHOC episodes and boy...Terry really jacked up his face.

Mr. Botox-Filler man.  Sure wish he'd fix his nose, since he has full access to Dr. Nassif who I think is a genius at his craft.

I have to admit, I DO like Dr. Terry much better when his wife isn't around to bully him and he's on his own show.  Good thing he's so talented at what he does or his beloved would have dumped his poor, sorry hide a long time ago.

I have to admit, he's not exactly Doctor Debonaire, but he can sure fix up some botched boobs.   Also, I think he and Nassif make for a good tag team.

So I have started watching from the beginning. I had only started watching when the three amigos were big. I think my first episode was a party with Kelly yelling no wonder your husband cheated on you!  It's interesting to see Gretchen.. I toss between l like her.. then dont. And Heather omg wat a stuck up bitch!  I am just at season 8 with Brooks so should be interesting. For some reason I had it in my head that Donn was a real horrible guy so it was interesting that I actually quite liked the guy!!  It was so interesting to see how the show evolved from the beginning to now.

I caught a rerun of the ep in season 8 when Lydia threw a salsa party. I had forgotten that Lori had returned (as a friend, I think) and was running around gossiping about Brooks dating a porn star friend of her daughter and Lydia calling out Slade for saying she should eat more, not realizing she could hear it, then followed by Slade trying to weasel his way out of it. Yeah, right, you meant that as a compliment. Keep digging yourself deeper...🙄

I was rewatching season 4 when Jeana was taking her daughter Kara to Berkeley.  That was the most hilarious dropping your kid off to college arc I'd ever seen.

Usually the housewife is a basketcase and making the day about herself instead of her child...so it was refreshing seeing Jeana be so low key about it..and arguing with her daughter about driving ability, etc.

However..the funniest part was Kara's surprise at Berkeley...as if she didn't research the college before she applied.  I don't know much about the school..but I wasn't surprised it was not a good fit for her lol
