is he really writing a book?   I don't keep up with them unless they are showing new shows and sometimes not even then.   I just pop in here every few months to see what's up, and if he is actually writing a tell-all, I will anxiously await it.  I hope it isn't all hat and no cattle.

As somebody who presumably wants to be working as an actual attorney at some point, I can't see how Deertick could write an expose' on his in-laws, and then expect to be trusted with legal matters.

He's a proven liar. While not all legal firms would care, he might be a hard sell to a hiring committee, no matter how conservative they are.

I've never believed it for a minute.

What's funny is the most natural fit for him if he stayed in the area would be Travis Story's law firm. But Story is well-known buddies with Jim Bob, so it seems unlikely he'd hire Derick if he's on the outs with his in-laws.

the video actually makes me like Derick because he is willing to do the silly dancing.

Dan seems less inclined.

but both of them having been scouts should be well versed in looking silly for skits. Dan previously working for BSA should surely know the leader training always has things where you have to be corny (bad jokes, puns etc) or just look stupid

I've never believed it either. I think this "book" is an idea that he latched onto as a way to make himself sound interesting and important to his followers and to give Jim Bob's chain a quick jerk. He's lazy and a chronic liar (which is one way he fits right in with his in-laws) and I think he'll keep on dropping hints about his mythical manuscript whenever he can't think of any other way to show off. I also think that if he ever does publish a book, it will be just be a lot of blather about Jesus and maybe some generic griping about Jim Bob and TLC, but no real juicy details.

He's basically been completely emasculated by his wife's backward, uneducated, hayseed family.  He's failed at just about everything he's tried, so the dangling of the "inside story" is all he thinks he has.

But what could he actually reveal?  The sexual molestation of his wife & her sisters by their brother?  We know.  The same brother is a sexual deviant & is into porn?  We know.  Their parents used the kids as a revenue stream and psychologically manipulated them?  We know.  They used fear-mongering and abusive practices to "train up" their small children?  We know.  They kept them away from real education and basically sold their virginity off with marriages, boys and girls?  We know.  Shady business ownerships & probable shell corporations as their main income sources?  We know.

Seriously, what's left anybody would be surprised to know?

WE know all of that, but the leghumpers mighr not. They have their own sanitized version of events. They wouldn't know about the shell game that Boob plays or the extent of Smuggar's sex addiction. They wouldn't know how the abuse REALLY affected Jill unless they did a bit of digging into links on her social media. The leghumpers probably don't know the extent of abuse going on to produce such "obedient" children. They saw Meech whisper into a Howler's ear once and saw the boy's attitude change. That's what they think is discipline.

There's a lot that has been whitewashed and facts that leghumpers ignore or deny. There's a story there if Derelict has the balls to defy his FIL and tell it.

"I'm so against abortion I married a Duggar!" will, sadly, be all it takes for some conservative firm to hire him (think Travis Story tier law, or an activist group/think tank). At least in some sinecure legal job.

I'm thinking activist think tank. The last I heard, he was in a social justice group and was going to take those classes in 2L. I will be curious what facet winds up being his primary focus.

Jill has mentioned Derick's desire to be "a voice for the voiceless" a few times, so I think he is focusing on overturning Roe v Wade.

Maybe he'll get a job with FRC Action. That'll either piss JB off or maybe have him kissing Derick's ass.

At the very least, a year from now,  Durwood will be a JD with an Accounting degree.  Pretty limitless beginning options in both law and accounting firms.   I really don't think in the interim he will move his little family too far away from his family.  His family has provided a much more heathly alternative to the Duggar hellhole.

He does? I don't see it. Even after zooming in. He may have fallen down or run into something. I've seen it happen.

Yeah, he’s a toddler/preschooler. Bruises pop up, and you have no idea how it happened. My daughter was a bit of a daredevil, and she’d end up with bruises all on her legs. Thankfully, the preschool teachers knew us (and her) and didn’t ask questions!!  (Part of the reason she’s in cheer now. If she’s gonna flip, might as well teach her how to do it the right way. 🤣)

I tried to watch their entire wedding ceremony. I got as far as watching people enter the church and that took 20 minutes!

It was interesting seeing various fundies. The highlight might have been the Swanson family,  who was there and sitting towards the front.  A bored Lauren, future Mrs. Josiah Duggar, was being a sister mom to her younger siblings and seemed competent if a little disinterested.

Too bad he won’t go into child advocacy so people like his wife would be protected

well we really don't know what area of law and what the voice for the voiceless really means

but are fundies already printing up the new shirts "derick dillard abolished abortion"  i think not

I could see Derick maybe trying to gointo law that would protect children on reality shows. I remember when the Gosselins were big there was a lot of talk on what is considered to be “too much”.

Maybe to get back at JB, because I'm guessing Derick doesn't care about children and filming. He had no problem allowing his kids to be filmed until he didn't get his way with TLC paying for his kid(s) birth expenses. He also alluded to being open to being on UPTV.

I'm thinking he'll be on the side of removing rights that he believes aren't in the Bible, rather than creating secular protections.

I can't see the average podunk Arkansas law firm doing anything to change any legal practices relating to Reality TV.   That ship sailed a LONG time ago.  Too many shows & participants since those days for there to be a shred of meat left on the bones of protecting minors on television.  That's so 2009, and all the big firms got things locked down.

And newbie lawyers do the grunt work for partners, document review and fact-finding for the first couple of years.  Deertick won't be going anywhere near any groundbreaking legislation or landmark cases for years, if ever.  Those types of cases may occasionally come from small, rural markets, but they never stay there.  They get bumped up to the big firms.

He's not going anywhere significant, even with a J.D.   Jill can spout all she wants about his altruistic "plans", but we've all seen just how far his "plans" have gotten them so far.
