Jill, Derick & the Kids: Moving On!!

He looks like Sam, but I think he's going to be built like Israel, who takes after his father; long skinny legs and slender.  He doesn't look unusually thin for a newborn.

I've been inundated with pics of Zader Tot (Carlin's kid) who is a major chunker. I realize that babies are different, but Freddy just looks so teeny compared to Zade. I said in my OP that he would likely take after his father. 🙂

I think Fred looks like Sam. They look like twins.

All 3 boys heavily favor Dereck.

I agree. All three boys favor, but Sam and Fred look the most alike. I do wonder if that will continue as the boys age.

It kind of cracks me up she is weighing him with a luggage scale. Not in a mean way, in a "who knew you could do that" type of way. I know he's over a bed so he is just fine, but its still funny to me!

I think that is a midwife baby weighing scale.

Newborns are so squishy and changeable that they can look like almost anyone from one minute to the next. That said, baby Freddy and baby Sam do look a lot alike!

As for non-baby Israel and non-baby Sam, Israel may be Derick's mini-me, but there are some pictures of little Jill floating around where her face/ expression look just like Israel's. And I've always thought Sam resembled the Duggar side (not Jill in particular, but a lot of the Howlers when they were younger). But you can still tell Israel and Sam are brothers.

Genetics are fascinating and weird!

I did not know what is was, either. At first, I thought she was trying to hang him up like a plant. (I did think that was weird, in my defense, but these are Duggars, so...)

I 100% assumed she had a luggage scale!!!

If she didn’t have that you just weigh yourself, step off, hold the baby and the baby is the difference (I do that with my cats).

Im laughing at myself right now- thanks @GeeGolly

No, she either didn't take or didn't pass the state exam or didn't meet the qualifications for licensure in Arkansas.  Now that they've moved she might try Oklahoma.  Their requirements might be easier.

That CPM exam she passed is a rinky dink thing and her course work was geared for her to pass it.  I passed the practice exam and I've taken zero midwife courses.

I wish they would all learn to stand up straight at least when the photos are taken.  It looks like Jill isn't keeping up the color which isn't all that surprising.  Maybe after school starts back soon she'll be able to do something.  I hope she blends the colors and lets it grow out highlighted not all over too light.  It's nice to see they do get together.

I'm not going to read too much into Jill's failure to blue. Her size is probably changing a lot right now and she may have decided not to spend money on a blue dress that will probably be too big in a few weeks just to match with a theme. As a side note, I'm not a fan of making party guests wear a specific colour. It's enough to ask that they're taking time and spending money to buy a gift, it doesn't seem fair to make a clothes requirement other than be clothed and be appropriate to the occasion (obvious exception for costume parties). Plus, because everyone's wearing  different shades and materials, it just looks weird in photos.

Did Jill donate hair to Locks of Love in the past?  Or am I thinking of someone else?  It is time to donate again.

Edited to add:  I just remembered they don't take dyed hair.  Too bad.

Locks is Love also charges the people who get the wigs that are made.

Topic? Jill would look so cute with shoulder length hair.

Things I noticed: Jill gave credit for the medical care she received as well as family and friends who helped her out. And she explicitly stated that the information she shared about gall bladder issues was not medical advice. Thereby clarifying that she was not speaking as a medical professional. As a person who dealt with gall bladder issues and surgery, her information seemed on point and in line with what I was told. I am sure it hasn't been easy with a new born and two little ones.

And she didn’t even mention Jesus. No praise the Lord or anything. Much different that Jillpm only giving credit to Lord Daniel.

It's surprising, but then again not.  Michelle had gallbladder problems and it does run in families.  Their diet is definitely not the best.  I'm thrilled that Derick has a job with health insurance for them and that Jill made rapid use of it.  That has to be a bit tough though with two surgeries in less than six weeks.  Hopefully she had laparoscopic surgery for the gallbladder and it will heal quickly.

Im glad she has insurance and went to the hospital. I relate to her because last year I just had an on/off UTI that never really went away. I was told over and over what to do, and nothing really worked. Finally they gave me a hardcore regimen of cipro that ... caused a horrible case of C diff. I was told in the hospital that womens' general pain/discomfort issues are commonly ignored by medical doctors.

It seems Michelle must be helping her out.

****** oh my goodness! That’s rough! Yes…my mama and Derick have been taking me for walks lol

This was in response to someone who advised her to walk a lot. I am glad her mom is helping her.

I see another response to a poster who suggested a heating pad. So sounds like Michelle may even be staying with her.  Hope she brought Jenni with her.

Yes!! The heating pad! Mama got it out for me last night! Being in the recliner has helped too!

My mom just had her gallbladder removed a month ago at 62.  Drs were surprised she hadn’t noticed any symptoms leading up to the attack because it was so bad off. But, women like my mom and myself tend to work through any aches and pains they may have and chop the symptoms up to something else (something I ate, lack of sleep, etc) so I can appreciate the advice and I am trying to be more in tune with my body knowing that it could happen to me too.

In re-reading Jill's post where she referred to gut issues, it occurred to me that it's a good thing Jill Rodrigues didn't know Jill Dillard was having such problems. She would have tried to have sold Jill Dillard some of her miracle drug Plexus. She claims Plexus cures all gut issues, so gall bladder surgery would have been completely unnecessary!  (Where's that sarcasm font when I need it?)
