No teachers, coworkers, school friends, teamates, etc, to provide a glimpse of what life might be like outside the cult.  No doctors, nurses or hospitals is the next logical step.  A doctor might mention contraception to a 25-year old with 4 kids, who is feeling tired and discoraged. A nurse might mention that no one would ever need to know that you tracked your cycle to space out the babies.  A hospital might send in a counsellor to talk to a woman with post-partum depression.

They can not have that. To keep the cult alive, they have to keep the girls and young women brainwashed long enough to get them good and saddled down with a slew of kids. Then they can't leave. And will KEEP themselves brainwashed in order to believe that their lives are not miserable. (MeChelle??)

Yes, do lets blame the victim here. How on earth is it Jessa's fault that her pic was hijacked by some pervs? And I honestly don't see how a fully covered pregnancy belly is in any way immodest. We're not living in the 19th century anymore when women had to hide their pregnancies because it alluded to them having had sex at some point. Unless we buy into the Gothard/fundie idea that the very shape of the female body is immodest in and of itself, how is that picture of Jessa in any way so? I made a mistake- it wasn't her mugshot but picture evidence of her face after getting beat up by Chris Brown. The employee who released it was fired if I remember correctly. I've changed it in my post above :-) But yes mugshots are public domain- you are correct! Im not sure why I wrote mugshot, actually. I think the picture just looked like one and my brain misfired. :-)

What I hope Jessa stops to think about is that her holy, perfect, Christ-like modesty is deemed worthy of a porn fetish site. I'm not saying anything about her selfies, or making any kind of moral comment about her. I think if she isn't suing, she should--I personally wouldn't find it embarrassing, but I would sue because I'm poor and if I'm not allowed to make money off of my face then neither is anyone else. My only point is that she continuously posts judgmental Bible verses and subjects the world to videos of her fundie-gangsta husband detailing our moral failures for us, but the reality of what she presents is a fairly typical, narcissistic young lady who is not more or less Christ-like than any other typical, narcissistic young lady on the internet.

Being that Jessa considers herself 'a public figure' and knows she has thousands of people following her social sites while she puts her selfies out there for public consumption is there a way to prevent the public from viewing or sharing them?  Does she think that only her fundie adoring followers are going to see her pics?  I would feel differently if 1. She didn't know her picture was being taken, 2. She didn't post the picture herself for everyone to see, and 3. She wasn't aware when she posted it that she had thousands of people she doesn't know looking at the very picture she posted.  It's like if she went on TV and dressed in whatever and then said only certain people are allowed to watch the show.  On the other hand maybe she could get whatever site is using her picture to take it down or whatever but it's not like she's going to be able to stop every single person in the public from viewing and or sharing the picture that she gave the public to view.

To clarify my victim blaming - Jessa's fame-seeking when she was under 18 are entirely her parent' fault and responsibility. I guess TLC is trying to rally the troops around the Duggarbot errr.... moneymaking husbands. With this rather calculated buildup, it looks like it's going to pimp the males, including Jeremy. I guess they have to in order to keep some interest. Then Jinger is courting and season finale, engaged! I don't think they can keep the wedding as under wraps as they did with Jill's (6 weeks, TLC threatened, IIRC).
