My house was built in the 1940s (hey, it's considered "historic" in Phoenix), and while my bathroom still has the original sink and light blue/yellow tiles, the toilet was replaced before we bought the house and is only like 10-15 years old.  really want the vintage blue toilet!  I keep hoping when people in our neighborhood gut their houses and remove all of the cool vintage stuff, one of those toilets will appear in the trash pile.

And, yes, I would absolutely stop and pick up someone's used blue toilet.

Too bad, you could have had the 50 year old baby blue toilet that I just threw out in a remodel.  Along with the blue sink, the blue tiles, and the yellow/blue geese border.

My father has called all of his cars Bessie.

I spent a few minutes with Google, and Bessie is the most popular name for cars.

I am speculating here ... the Ford Model T was affectionately called the Tin Lizzie, Lizzie is a nickname for Elizabeth, and Bessie is also a nickname for Elizabeth.

Any Panera's "clean" food commercials annoy the heck out of me!  The commercials just come off as pretentious.  I was never a frequent Panera customer, now I  have absolutely no desire to go there!

I hate this commercial.  When this woman dances and says "Mommy Gold", I just want to smack her.  I have to change the channel I hate it so much

Yeah, I hated that commercial the first time I saw it.  I could have sworn we briefly had a "commercials that creep you out" thread; I would have posted it there, too, because she creeps me out as much as she annoys me.  I imagine getting consumers excited about lunch meat is difficult, but Land O'Frost is failing miserably with the hip moms commercials.

If Land O'Frost is next to Land O'Lakes, there is nothing kosher about that border.

I've never been and thanks to their ads, I will never go.

I hate those commercials.  Despite never having seen Land O' Frost products in stores, I refuse to buy them.

Also, it seems like it's the same sandwich footage in both commercials.

Good point!  But it's still exclusive to Apple users.  You don't hear people say, "My 'phone' is a landline; my 'Samsung' is in my pocket."

I referred to my cell phone as "the Blackberry" because it was such a joke that I still had one.

The music in the Silk Almond milk "Do Plants" ad gives me seizures.  They are so debilitating, I wonder if any of the ambulance chasing attorneys advertising on daytime tv would take my case?

I feel like they're trying to imitate the harlem shake, but I'm not totally sure.

I just saw that commercial with the girl crying.  Holy cow is she annoying!  Plus, why couldn't they have a scene with her having fun in her house?  I can see why she wants to move if her life has been that sad in it.

Seriously.  This ad makes me want to throw HEAVY STUFF at the television.  I can't mute it fast enough!  Does this "music" appeal to ANYONE here?

I confess that I do refer to our vehicles by name (we took the Sorrento when we took the kids to Disney last week, but used the Rogue when it was just me and my husband going to Myrtle Beach last year) and my phones (I ask someone to grab my iPhone if I need to check work messages and the Samsung if I'm doing something personal, although my husband still just lifts one up and says "This one?" regardless of which I ask for- I may go to gold phone vs. blue phone to distinguish instead of using the brand names.)

So, Snyder's is now selling the throwaway product of the pretzel-making process? I'm thinking that half of any given bag is pretzel dust and salt.

They've been selling it for a decade or two at least (honey mustard pretzel bits, yum), but I don't remember seeing ads for them until the last year or two.

I am very disturbed by the commerical where people's minds are blown. I have no idea now what they were/are selling and even though the blown mind is illustrated as happy purple dust exploding from the top of the actors' heads  I just find it so sensely violent.

YES!  I find that commercial horrifying as well as odd.

The notion of a head being cracked open like an egg resonates with some fear I have about head injury.  It's very disturbing.

I am really annoyed with the Chevy commercials with that hipster dude in them.  The adds appear in every single commercial break of every show on television.  The worst one is the one where he asks the focus group to talk about the car using different emojis.

Those Chevy commercials are awful, every one of them.  I hate them.  I don't know who they appeal to or why they think anyone would like them.  They come off as so fake and staged, despite their attempt to claim otherwise.

Maybe because I cannot stand this guy, especially his tv show, and because I don't think he's funny, but I HATE any Jim Gaffigan commercial.  Why does Chrysler think his monotone voice and his one note schtick is funny?  His comedy is based on how he's a lazy, overeating nudnik who treats his wife and kids like crap. That isn't going to make me want to buy a Pacifica.

Are you more or less likely to buy something because a celebrity endorses it?  For me, I won't buy any product if I don't like the celebrity.  And now, there seems to be so many of these celebrity commercials, both on TV and magazines. When you know how much these people get paid, it really pisses me off.

There is one Chevy commercial where one of the shoppers enters wearing a green peignoir!  Who goes out in public like that?

I used to like Jim Gaffigan until I saw these commercials.

That Toyota commercial where the woman says, "I wish I had a presidential escort."  I hate it because I've been binge watching "Motive" and they play it multiple times during each episode.  Ugh.

This commercial annoys me because I feel like the dog should look more elderly.

The first time I saw that ad, I said, "I don't want a veterinarian taking care of my pet if he doesn't look old enough to take care of his own gerbil."

Like, "suh-mile"?

Ha!  But in Jeremy's defense, he did just get accepted to veterinary school.

What is this stupid new trend of making the word "smile" have two syllables? Drives me nuts.

What commercial uses that pronunciation?  I can't stand poor grammar, pronunciation, spelling, etc.  (Anal, sorry.)

There's a new Kleenex back-to-school commercial playing.  A cute little boy gives a pep talk and a package of Kleenex to a nervous new teacher on the first day of school.  She heads into school behind the hoards of elementary students who've just arrived via school bus with a smile on her face and confidence in her step.

The Kleenex people don't understand elementary teachers.  That meet cute between the teacher and her student wouldn't be happening on the steps of the school.  That teacher would have already been at school for two hours prepping her room for the first day.   She wouldn't be strolling into school with her purse slung casually over her shoulder, mere moments before class comes to order.

No, it's more like smi-ell. There is an ad for dental implants where the spokeswoman says "I love my smi-ell" "I will always have this smi-ell" "People are always complimenting me on my smi-ell". And there's one where they're singing about "smi-ells". Ugh.

The Ebates commercial.  "I made $537.10!"(or whatever it was.). Yeah, and how much did you have to spend to get that much back?

I use ebates. Most retail sites' cashback amount is 2%-3% of the subtotal of your purchase. That's a LOT of shopping for these commercial people to be making hundreds of dollars. I've only ever made $20, and they pay out per quarter.

Pretty sure the entire reason is so that she can wipe away his tears at the end.  Kind of unnecessary and forced but I guess the focus groups loved it.

I haven't seen this in a commercial, but I hate when people say "s'mores" with two syllables.

Isn't it pronounced "su morz" ?  Two syllables.  Even decades ago when I was a Brownie, that's how it was pronounced.

Now, if they're saying "smo rays" then it's just wrong.
